Mr. Harold Dean Pasley, age, 82, of Grassy Creek, NC died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Pasley was born December 6, 1927 in Ashe County to the late Arthur and Fannie Ballou Pasley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Billy Joe Blevins, Rev. Lonnie Carpenter, Rev. Dennis Blevins and Rev. Galvin Jones. Burial will follow in the Baptist Chapel cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 8th from 7:00 – 9:00 at Badger Funeral Home.

Johnsie Lyalls
Miss Johnsie Raydell Lyalls, age 83 of Wilkesboro, NC died Friday, June 4, 2010 at Avante of Wilkes. Miss Lyalls was born October 26, 1926 in Ashe County to the late Jess and Lou Lyalls.
Graveside service will be conducted Monday, June 7, 2010 at 1pm at Mount Olive Baptist Church cemetery by Rev. Paul Lyalls.

Helen Virginia Stanley
Mrs. Helen Virginia Stanley, age 90 of West Jefferson, NC died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Mrs. Stanley was born March 6, 1920 in West Virginia to the late Roy and Bessie Collins Shiflett.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Mrs. Stanley’s home.

Lester Joseph Ray
Mr. Letcher Joseph Ray, age 85 of Todd, NC died Monday, May 31, 2010 at Margate Health and Rehab. Mr. Ray was born March 17, 1925 in Ashe County to the late Jess and Ruth Greer Ray.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Mill Creek cemetery.

Burton Zimmerman
Burton R. Zimmerman, age 89, of Denver, NC, passed away on May 29, 2010, surrounded by family.
Burt graduated from Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio and later finished his Master’s Degree at The University of Akron. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Burt spent most of his career as an educator and high school administrator in Ohio. After retirement in 1981 he, and his wife Olga, moved to the mountains of Jefferson, North Carolina. In 2005, they moved to Denver, North Carolina.
Besides his parents, Burton was preceded in death by his brother, Ellsworth Zimmerman; his son, Andrew Zimmerman; and granddaughter, Jamie Zimmerman.
Burton is survived by his loving wife, Olga (Pidzyraylo) Zimmerman to whom he was married 59 years; his son and daughter-in-law, Mark (LuAnne) Zimmerman of Harrisonburg, VA; his daughter and son-in-law, Beth (Matt) Palumbo of Massillon, OH; his daughter Lisa Miller of Denver, NC; his daughter-in-law, Joyce Zimmerman of Slidell, Louisiana; his son and daughter-in-law, Chris (Doris) Zimmerman of Warren, Ohio; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on June 1 at 3 pm at Denver United Methodist Church in Denver, NC. Internment will be held on June 3 at 11 am at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel & Gardens in Jefferson, NC.

Kate Kilby Campbell
Mrs. Kate Kilby Campbell, age 93, of West Jefferson died Saturday, May 22nd at the Margate Health and Rehab Center. Mrs. Campbell was born March 28, 1917 in the Lansing community to Gaither Ezra and Ennice Mae Moran Kilby. She was married to Samuel Wiley Campbell. Mrs. Campbell was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of West Jefferson for 60 years. She was involved in many activities of the church. She was loyal employee of Thomasville Industries where she faithfully served for 30 years. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, loving grandmother and a generous and kind friend to many.
Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday morning at 11:00 at the First Baptist Church in West Jefferson by the Rev. Ken Morris and the Rev. Michael Lea. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Midway cemetery.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by one daughter: Mary Worley of West Jefferson and one daughter-in-law, Karen Neaves Campbell of West Jefferson, one sister, Mae Redfield of Clemmons, NC. Nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by one daughter: Virginia Campbell Goodman and one son, Roger Campbell.

Nancy Evans Jones
Mrs. Nancy Ann Evans Jones, age 80 of West Jefferson, NC died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Providence Hospital in Columbia, SC. Mrs. Jones was born December 2, 1929 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Homer and Doris Foght Evans. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Jones. Nancy was a member of the West Jefferson United Methodist Church and an active member of the UMW. She enjoyed volunteering at Ashe Memorial Hospital every Wednesday.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ron Overcash. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Colene Sexton Adams
Mrs. Colene Sexton Adams, age 83 of Lansing, NC died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Adams was born June 20, 1926 in Ashe County to the late Caney and Myrtle Brown Sexton. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband: Worth Adams, brothers: Carl, Biram, Bruce, Ray, Howard & Dale Sexton, sisters: Lessie DeBoard & Ethel Sexton, great-grandson: Austin Ring
Mrs. Adams was a member of Peace Haven Community Church. She was retired from Sprague Electric. She loved spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Peace Haven Community Church by Rev. Bill Miller and Rev. Jim Francis. Mrs. Adams will lie in state 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 18th at Badger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ardean Jean Woodruff McAllister, age 70 of West Jefferson, NC died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at her home. Mrs. McAllister was born January 28, 1940 in Salamanca, New York.

Laverne Robert Walker
Mr. Laverne Robert Walker age 76 of Crumpler, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Wake Forrest Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Walker was born in Grayson County, VA to the late John Ivory and Ethel Sullivan Walker. He was a member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church. He worked for Dollar Tire as a mechanic for many years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Delbert Walker, Ralph Walker, Herman Walker, 2 sisters, Irene Hash, Ilene Hash and his wife Billie June Lambert Walker on August 22, 2009.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at 2pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randall Greene and Rev. Joe Riley Blevins. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Walker is survived by, one son: David Lee Walker of Henderson, two daughters: Veronica “Vickie” Walker of West Jefferson, Elizabeth “Libby” Jean Walker Cahill of Princeton, WV, four brothers: Frank Walker of Jefferson, Gale Walker of West Jefferson, Dale Walker of Springfield, TN & June Walker of WV, three sister, Oma Gene McNeill of Daleville, VA, Ruby McCrosky of Rocky Gap, VA, Opal White of Pageton, WV, 6 grandchildren, Nathan Walker, Rebecca Ann Cahill Wolfe, James Bradley Cahill, Courtney Uzmann, Christopher Uzmann, Jessica Uzmann, 2 great-grandchildren, Emily Morgan Wolfe, Kayla Ann Wolfe and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Georgia Margaret Ashley McClure, age 93 of Jefferson, NC died Friday, April 30, 2010 at her home. Mrs. McClure was born April 11, 1917 in Grayson County, VA to the late Thomas and Barbara Wyatt Ashley. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Howard McClure. She was a member of Sturgills Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in the Helton Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM prior to the service.
