Wilma Jean Barker Ring age 55, of Jefferson, NC died Sunday, July 5, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Ring was born December 21, 1953 in Ashe County to Herman and Helen Ashley Barker. She was preceded in death by her father. Mrs. Ring was a member of Warrensville Baptist Church.
Memorial services will be held at 6:00 PM Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Wayne Osborne, Rev. Mark Harless and Rev. Kirby McNeill. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:00 PM prior to the service.

Robert Brandon Patrick
Robert Brandon Patrick better known as Brandon age 24 of Rhoda died Thursday, July 2, 2009.
Mr. Patrick was born in Wilkes County on February 25, 1985 to Robert Wayne and Kathy Dale McManus Patrick. He worked in home construction as a roofer.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 3pm at Beaver Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Johnny Goodman. Burial will follow in the Faircloth-Spencer cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm Sunday prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Patrick is survived by, his parents, Robert Wayne and Kathy Patrick, one sister, Keshia Patrick of Rhonda, paternal grandparents, Wiley and Sarah Patrick of West Jefferson, maternal grandparents, Raymond and Venie McManus of Wilkesboro, his fiancé, Gene Settle of Yadkin, NC, her children, Steven, Jessie, Nick and Chris Settle, several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

Mr. Kenneth Earl Lawrence, age 65 of West Jefferson died Monday, June 29, 2009 at his home. Mr. Lawrence was born June 2, 1944 in Ashe County to the late Walter and Vergie Houck Lawrence.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. J. D. Walton. Burial will follow in the Jones Greer cemetery. Mr. Lawrence will lie in state from 12:00 – 1:00 PM prior to the service.

Mrs. Tottie Divine Boggs Jones age 54 of Warrensville, NC died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Jones enjoyed sewing, cooking and working in her flower garden.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Carl Ray Witherspoon. Burial will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday at Badger Funeral Home.

Marjorie Hope Crepps
Mrs. Marjorie Hope Penninger Crepps, age 73 of Jefferson, NC died Monday, June 22, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Crepps was born January 6, 1936 in Charlotte, NC to the late William and Margie Ferris Penninger. She was a member of Glendale Springs Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Deneise Liss. Burial will follow in the Big Ridge cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Patricia "Pat" Lindsay
Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Lindsay age 76 of West Jefferson, NC died Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Lindsay was born August 23, 1932 in Clover, SC to the late Roy and Hazel Mitchell Wood. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Dan Lindsay and nephews; Michael and Robbie Cook. Mrs. Lindsay was the treasurer of St. Francis Catholic Church Women’s Club. She volunteered at New Beginnings, helped at the nursing homes and worked with foster children. She loved to play golf, read and work in her garden. She worked at Roses for over twenty years.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church by Father Joseph Dinh. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the memorial service.

Clara Sheets Roten
Mrs. Clara Roten age 71 of Glendale Springs died Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Mrs. Roten was born August 23, 1937 in Wilkes County to the late Henry and Minnie Parsons Sheets. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband: Howard Roten, one sister: Lizzy Miller, three brothers: Joe, Otto and Richard Sheets. She was a Sunday school teacher at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church where she was a member for over fifty years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church by Rev. Sonny Thomas, Rev. Russell Sheets and Rev. Jack Miller. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Roten will lie in state one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 17th at Badger Funeral Home.
Mrs. Roten is survived by:
1 daughter: Cynthia Rutherford of Fleetwood
1 son: Ronnie Roten of Crumpler
2 brothers: Carl Sheets of Moravian Falls and Fred Sheets of Kannapolis
2 sisters: Dare Miller of West Jefferson and Edna Overcash of Owasso, MI
6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Retha Miller
Retha Marie Miller, age 77 of Lansing, NC died Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Miss Miller was born July 25, 1931 in Ashe County to the late Elihu and Maudie Farmer Miller. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by: Sisters: Ossie Wyrick, Opal Wyatt and Beatrice Miller and brothers: Arthur Farmer and Frank Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Minister Danny Miller. Burial will follow in the Pennington cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 PM, Monday, June 15th at Badger Funeral Home.
