Mr. Conrad Lee Wells age 65 of Creston, NC died Tuesday, February 2, 2009 at Margate Rehab Center in Jefferson.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 2:00pm at the main Chapel on Fort Bragg.
Mr. Wells is survived by, his wife Judy Price Wells, one daughter, Melissa Wells Fleming of Palm Coast, FL, one son Edwin Lee Wells of Asheville, NC, three grandchildren, Dylan Lee Wells, Tyler Lewis Wells, Hannah Janelle Wells, two brothers, Frederick Wells of Loughton, NV, Paul Wells of Warren, MI several nieces and nephews also survive.

Billie Church
Mr. Billie Junior Church, age 74 of West Jefferson, NC died Friday, February 6, 2009 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. Mr. Church was born June 3, 1934 in Ashe County to the late Earl and Defina Trivette Church. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a grandson: William Caudill.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ambrose Jones and Rev. Jim Greer. Burial will follow in the Emmanuel Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM prior to the service.

Jeter Clayborn Weaver
Mr. Jeter Clayborn Weaver, age 73 of Grassy Creek, NC died Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Mr. Weaver was born March 15, 1935 in Ashe County to the late Arthur and Fannie Blevins Weaver.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Badger Funeral Home by Rev. Lawrence Goodman, Rev. Billy Joe Blevins and REv. Bill Davis. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Home cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 PM Friday, Jan. 30th at Badger Funeral Home.

Rev. Ross Harless
Rev. Ross Harless age 81 of West Jefferson died Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Rev. Harless was born in Ashe County on Monday, August 22, 1927 to the late George and Ida Craft Harless. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his grandson: Shawn Harless and daughter in law: Martha Harless. He served in the US Army. He was pastor of Obids Baptist Church for 20 years and Bethel Baptist Church for 34 years where he was a member until his death. He loved to work in his garden.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 30, 2009 at 11:00am at Bethel Baptist Church by Rev. Robert Harless and Rev. Mark Harless. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9pm Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Badger Funeral Home.
Rev. Harless is survived by, his wife of 59 years, Edna Holman Harless, four sons, Rev. Robert Harless and wife of Laurel Springs, Donald Harless and wife, Timothy Harless and Rev. Mark Harless and wife all of West Jefferson, six daughters: Janet Phillips and husband of Salisbury, Naomi Lamoreaux and husband of Jonesville, Karen Lambert of Jefferson, Bonnie Phillips and husband of Granite Falls, Patsy Mash and husband of West Jefferson and Amy Miller and husband of Fleetwood, one sister: Madge Roberts of Jefferson, 25 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Margaret Osborne
Mrs. Margaret Genevieve Osborne age 79 of Crumpler, NC died Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Osborne was born August 22, 1929 in Ashe County to the late Joel and Pearl Osborne. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by five sisters: Grace, Beatrice Arnold, Jewel Osborne, June Osborne and Shirley Moose.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tommy Dollar, Rev. Fred Richardson and Rev. Kenneth Clark. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, Jan. 23rd at Badger Funeral Home.

James Edwin Edwards
Mr. James Edwin Edwards, age 67 of Todd died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at his home.
Mr. Edwards was born in Ashe County on July 23, 1941 to the late Joseph and Myrtle Davis Edwards. Including his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Gene Edwards and one sister, Mary Edwards Bare.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 2pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. JD Walton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm prior to the service Monday at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Edwards is survived by, one son, James Darren Edwards and wife Jane of Baldwin, two brothers, Rev. Charles Edwards and wife Naomi of Wilkesboro & Paul Edwards and wife Kay of Ohio, one sister: Sarah Baugess of Wilkesboro, 2 grandchildren, Chris and Caroline Edwards several nieces & nephews also survive.

Ruth Bare
Mrs. Ruth Badger Richardson Bare, age 84 of West Jefferson, NC died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Bare was born April 20, 1924 in Ashe County to the late Joseph and Fannie Waddell Badger. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her first husband; Ross Richardson, second husband; Wilmer Bare and one brother. Mrs. Bare retired from Blue Ridge Electric after over twenty years of service. She loved to volunteer at the Ashe County Library. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, quilting and gardening. She was also a member of the Extension and Community Service Club.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jack Miller and Elder Floyd South. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from
2:00 – 3:00 PM prior to the service.

Mavis Cole
Mrs. Mavis Church Cole, age 70 of Crumpler, died Monday, January 12, 2009 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. Mrs. Cole was born June 29, 1938 in Ashe County to the late Reeves and Elsie Miller Church. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Cole.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 16, 2009 at Green’s Chapel Baptist Church by Rev. Allen Miller and Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in the Howell Hill cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM

Maude James
Miss Maude James, age 90 of West Jefferson, NC died Monday, January 5, 1009 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Miss James was born September 10, 1918 in Ashe County to Samuel and Myrtle Sturgill James. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her brother, Frank James. She was an active and contributing member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church. Miss James was a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College. She had a successful teaching career at Lansing School where she taught fourth grade.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at The Jefferson United Methodist Church by Rev. Dr. Keith Franklin and Rev. Peter Parrish. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Delphia Ham
Mrs. Delphia Fay Denny Ham, age 86 of Lansing, NC, died Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Ham was born September 20, 1922 in Ashe County to the late Andrew and Cora Stanley Denny. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband; Jackson Dale Ham and son; Billy Ham. Mrs. Ham was a member of New Home Baptist Church. She loved to cook, sew and work in her garden.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Am Saturday at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Minister Danny Miller and Rev. Dan Hess.
Burial will follow in the Stansberry cemetery. The family will receive friends from
