Blake Parsons
Mr. Blake Allen Parson age 25 of Lansing, NC died Friday, December 19, 2008 at his home. Mr. Parsons was born August 27, 1983 in Watauga County to Allen and Karen Spencer Parsons. Blake attended Appalachian State University and worked at the River House Restaurant. He was preceded in death by his grandfather: Fred Parsons.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 2pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Kevin Jones and Rev. Julian Owens. Burial will follow in the Parsons cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Roy Houck
Mr. Roy Lee Houck age 47 of West Jefferson, NC died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Houck was born October 31, 1961 in Ashe County to Bobby and Arvie Patrick Houck.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bud Shepherd and Rev. Gene Shepherd. Burial will follow in the Patrick cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 -8 PM Sunday at Badger Funeral Home.

Darrell Click Bledsoe
Mr. Darrell Click Bledsoe age 64 of Grassy Creek died Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bledsoe was born in Mocksville, NC on August 22, 1944 to the late Boston Franklin and Eva Greer Bledsoe. Including his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Elizabeth Rash Bledsoe and son Kenneth Mark Bledsoe.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 2pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Galvin Jones and Rev. Dennis Blevins. Burial will follow in the Jones-Greer cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-2pm prior to the service Sunday at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Bledsoe is survived, three sons, Robin Bledsoe of Grassy Creek, Thomas Bledsoe of Todd and Darrell Bledsoe of Lansing, one daughter, Terry Bledsoe of Grassy Creek, five brothers, Ted, Johnny, J. Harold, Bud Bledsoe all of Mocksville and Claude Bledsoe of Todd, 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Joseph "Joe" Patrick
Mr. Joseph Clyde Patrick better known as “Joe” age 62 of Creston, NC the
Little Laurel Community died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Ashe
Memorial Hospital. Mr. Patrick was born March 1, 1946 in Ashe County to
the late Robert and Gladys Osborne Patrick. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister, Jean Howell. He attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a member of the VFW. Joe enjoyed rabbit hunting and working with his dogs.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service.

Edith Conklin
Mrs. Edith Badger Johnsey Conklin, age 94 of Jefferson, NC died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs.Conklin was born March 6, 1914 in Ashe County to the late Roy and Eula Dickson Badger. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Clint Conklin.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Young’s Chapel Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Conklin is survived by:

Blanche Williams
Mrs. Blanche Mash Williams, age 83 of West Jefferson, NC died Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Williams was born April 28, 1925 in Ashe County to the late Ham and Lilie Miller Mash. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, H. D.Williams and sisters: Mabel Lambert and Belle Miller. Blanche loved taking in and caring for animals and listening to gospel music.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. J. C. Darnell. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Edward Spangler
Mr. Edward Joseph Spangler age 81 of Glendale Springs, NC died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Mr. Spangler was born March 31, 1927. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Lena Senchuck Spangler and son, Eddie Spangler.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens with military rites. The family will receive friends at 3:00 PM Saturday at Badger Funeral Home.

Bernice "Bernie" Roark
Mr. Bernice Harold Roark, better known as Bernie, age 94 of Perryville, MD died Saturday, November 22, 2008 at his home. Mr. Roark was born November 22, 1914 in Ashe County to the late Emmett and Nora Lee Graybeal Roark. He retired from Armstrong Flooring in Lancaster, PA where he was employed as a supervisor in shipping and receiving. He enjoyed sports, especially basketball and baseball.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Piney Creek Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 prior to the service.

Charity Vannoy Barr
Charity Vannoy Barr born December 18, 1911 in Crumpler, NC to Robert and Dora McMillian Vannoy died November 17, 2008. Charity graduated from Oxford, PA High School and the University of Delaware in 1933. She returned to Ashe County upon graduation. Charity taught at West Jefferson High School and Beaver Creek High School till 1962. During WWII she served as acting postmaster for West Jefferson Post Office.
Chattie as she was known, married Robert G. Barr July 18, 1935. Robert preceded her in death in 2000. She was also preceded in death by brothers; Ralph Emory Vannoy and R. Page Vannoy ansd sister; Wilma Vannoy Sherer.
Charity is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ashe Services for Aging, High Country Health Care System Hospice or Mt. Jefferson Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:30 Wednesday, November 19th at Mt. Jefferson Presbyterian Church. The funeral will follow the visitation. Burial will follow in the West Jefferson cemetery.
