Mrs. Virginia Harris Jones age 94 of Warrensville, NC died Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Jones was born January 14, 1914 in Ashe County to the late Male and Ella Vaught Harris. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Clifton Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and loved flower gardening.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Billy Joe Blevins and Rev. Chuck Call. Entombment will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 PM Saturday, May 3rd at Badger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nola Ray Hamby Wall, age 81 of West Jefferson, NC died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Segraves Care Center. Mrs. Wall was born June 21, 1926 in Countywalt, WV to the late Benjamin and Mary McNeill Hamby. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by a son; Edward Ewell and two brothers; Thurmond and Roy Dean Hamby.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dean Watson. Burial will follow in the Scott-Blevins cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 PM prior to the service.

Mrs. Helen Venable Carawan age 87 of Jefferson, NC died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Margate Health & Rehab. Mrs. Carawan was born January 12, 1921 in Avery County, NC to the late Frank and Artie Greene Carr. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2998 at 2:00 PM at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day and Rev. Bill Venable. Burial will follow in Chestnut Hill cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Monday prior to the service at Badger Funeral Home. Mrs. Carawan is survived by: 2 daughters: Martha Day of Jefferson and Betty Heckert of Indiana. 8 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Laura Roland
This is a follow up obituary of 5-6-2008. A memorial service will take place in the chapel at Margate Health & Rehab in Jefferson at 2:00 PM, Tuesday May 20, 2008.
Eileen and Mike Chapman, daughter and son-in-law to Laura Mae deeply appreciate the care and love that all of the staff of Margate have given Laura in the past eight years. We also thank Hospice for the care they gave Laura and the family toward the end of her life.
A special thanks to Dr. Edward Miller and others who helped decide what was fitting to Laura's quality of life. We also appreciate all the preparations and guidance Badger Funeral Home has given.
Laura Mae's was to be cremated and have her ashes spread over the mountains she loved so much.
Leccia Lambert
Mrs. Leccia Dair Kimberlin Lambert, age 62 of Fleetwood, NC died Monday, April 21, 2008 at NC Baptist Hospital. Mrs. Lambert was born April 25, 1945 in Ashe County to the late Joseph and Virginia Parsons Kimberlin. Mrs. Lambert was a member of Big Flatts Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher and Bible School director. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Big Flatts Baptist Church by Rev. Chris Cox and Rev. Charlie McCoy. Burial will follow in the Big Flatts cemetery. Mrs. Lambert will lie in state 1 hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 PM Wednesday at Badger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lou Cressie Anderson Turnmire Lee, age 92 of West Jefferson, NC died Monday, April 21, 2008 at Segraves Care Center. Mrs. Lee was born September 6, 1915 in Grayson County, Virginia to the late David and America Stuart Anderson. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husbands: Charlie Turnmire and Elmer Lee, and daughter: Verna Mae Turnmire.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Minister Douglas Frazier. Burial will follow in the Fairview - Carpenter cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 prior to the service.

Tabitha Marie Hilton
Miss Tabitha "Tabbiey" Marie Hilton age 21 of Deep Gap died Friday morning, April 18, 2008 in Boone.
Tabbiey was born in Durham County on September 27, 1986 to Ralph B. Hilton and Rebecca Harward Flores. She loved to sing, music, was a great lover of animals, her favorite color was purple and she loved Tigger. Tabbiey was a free spirited girl and liked to do things her own way. She loved all her brothers and sisters but above all she loved her mom and dad. She will truly be missed by all who loved her.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 21, 2008 at 2:00pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Herb Parunak.
The family will receive friends from 1-2pm Monday, April 21, 2008 prior to the funeral service at Badger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Adeline Ham DeBoard age 71 of Grassy Creek, NC died Monday, April 14, 2008 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. DeBoard was born February 15, 1937 in Ashe County to the late William and Martha Elliott Ham. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband; Eli DeBoard, brothers; Wayne, Earl and Dale Ham and step-mother; Ella Ham. She attended Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She loved canning vegetables from her garden.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tommy Dollar & Minister Danny Miller. Burial will follow in the DeBoard cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 PM Wednesday, April 16th at Badger Funeral Home.

Ruth Lillian Jones Turner Lewis
Mrs. Ruth Lillian Jones Turner Lewis age 89 of Wilkesboro formally of Ashe County died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Wilkes Senior Village. Mrs. Lewis was born in Ashe County on November 25, 1918 to the late Donald and Emma Jones. Including her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul John Turner, her second husband, Raymond Lewis, two daughters, Betty Sue Turner, Zelma Turner, two brothers and two sisters. She loved her Lord, her children and all her grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 2:00pm at the Jefferson City cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00pm Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home. Mrs. Lewis is survived by, one son, Hubert Turner and wife Sue of Fairfax, VA, one daughter, Arbie Allison of Wilkesboro, four grandchildren, Robert Allison, David Allison, Steve Turner, Rodney Turner, five great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Coy Lee "Boe" Sheets
Mr. Coy Lee Sheets, better known as "Boe", age 68, of West Jefferson, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Watauga Medical Center in Boone.
Boe was born in Ashe County on April 25, 1939 to the late Doughton and Farris Hamby Sheets. Including his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Mae Sheets, two brothers, Carl and James "Bud" Sheets. We are going to miss you and you will be with us all through the rest of our life. We Love You Daddy.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 14, 2008 at 2:00pm at Bethel Baptist Church by Rev. Mark Harless and Rev. Leon Miller. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Marley was born in Bellflower, Calfornia on April 9, 1961.She was preceded in death by her father Clyde Vernon Heights her mother Mable June Clark Trent and the man who raises Toni, Leonard Trent. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at 6:00pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Kenneth Clark. Mrs. Marley is survived by, her husband, Timothy Marley, three sons: Noah Ray Wyatt, Adam Roy Wyatt and Amos Moses Marley all of Jefferson, one daughter, Sierra Lorrissa Guenther and husband Mathew Keith Guenther of Wilkesboro, two brothers, Robert Heights of California, Daniel Melson of Mississippi, five sisters, Barbra Joe White of Oregon, Diane Palma, Kathy Fennell, Christa Hampton all of California and Marty Chapman of Wilkesboro several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Lois Esther Miller Riley age 68 of Lansing, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Riley was born February 8, 1940 in Ashe County to the late Fred and Reba Osborne Miller. Mrs. Gertrude Mae Dalton Hunt age 82 of Laurel Springs, NC died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Mrs. Hunt was born October 25, 1925 in Patrick County, Virginia to the late John and Nellie Caviness Dalton. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband; Wilmer Claude Hunt and brothers: Roy, Rudolph and Jack Dalton. She was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church and also attended Calvary Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Russell Sheets and Rev. Sonny Thomas. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service.

Mary Ruth Witherspoon
Mrs. Mary Ruth Shatley Witherspoon age 88 of Jefferson, NC died Monday, March 31, 2008 at Segraves Care Center. Mrs. Witherspoon was born January 8, 1920 in Ashe County to the late Troy and Annie Calloway Shatley. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband; John Witherspoon, sister; Gladys Willard, brother; Paul Shatley and grandson; Eric Witherspoon. She was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church where she served as treasurer, clerk and choir member. She enjoyed flower gardening and was a member of the VFW ladies auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Friendship Baptist Church by Rev. Darrell Giles & Rev. Johnny Blevins. Burial will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 1st at Friendship Baptist Church.

Mrs. Connie Houck Walton Ackerman age 77 of West Jefferson died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at NC Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. Mrs. Ackerman was born July 30, 1930 in Ashe County to the late James and Lester Church Houck. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her first husband; Coy Lee Walton, son; Richard AllenWalton, grandson; Richard Allen Walton Jr. and sister; Dorothy Taylor.
