Mr. Mont "Jay" Brooks better known as Jay, age 78 of Warrensville, NC died Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at his home. Mr. Brooks was born April 1, 1929 in Ashe County to the late Henry and Lou Blackburn Brooks.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 21, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Mark Harless, Rev. Tommy Dollar and Minister Danny Miller. Burial will follow in the Brooks cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, March 20th at Badger Funeral Home.

Kelly Lovelace
Mr. Kelly Cleveland Lovelace, age 75 of West Jefferson, NC died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Mr. Lovelace was born January 23, 1933 in Grayson County, Virginia to the late Basil and Zuria Farmer Lovelace. Mr. Lovelace was a distinguished US Army veteran who served in both the Korean Conflict and Vietname War.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Haw Orchard Baptist Church by Rev. Randy Lovelace. Burial will follow in the Haw Orchard cemetery with military rites. Mr. Lovelace will lie in state from 1:00 - 2:00 prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 PM Friday, March 14th at Badger Funeral Home.

Eugene Watson
Mr. Eugene Granville Watson, age 90 of Fleetwood died Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Mr. Watson was born October 7, 1917 in Ashe County to the late Noah and Victoria Byland Watson. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife; Iris Vannoy Watson, a daughter; Barbara Watson, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Herbert McCoy. Burial will follow in Gap Creek cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Tuesday, March 11th at Badger Funeral Home.

Lemary Josephine Walton Howell
Mrs. Lemary Josephine Walton Howell age 86 of West Jefferson, NC died Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. husband, David Howell.
Mrs. Howell was born in Ashe County on December 24, 1921 to the late Dave and Lessie Howell Walton. Including her parents she was preceded in death by her husband David Lee Howell, one son, J.D. Howell and one sister, Stella Louise Howell.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day and Rev. J. D. Walton. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 11th at Badger Funeral Home.
Mrs. Howell is survived by, one daughter, Ruby Blevins of Lansing, one son, Lacy Howell of West Jefferson, one sister, Jean Rash of West Jefferson,
7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will be meeting at the home of Rev. Billy Joe and Ruby Blevins on Deep Ford Road in Lansing.

Vada Josephine Sluder Lewis
Mrs. Vada Kathleen Sluder Lewis age 70 of Todd the Threetop community. Died Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Watauga Medical Center in Boone.
Mrs. Lewis was born in Watauga County on April 5, 1937 to the late Wesley and Jenny Mae Phillips Sluder. She was a member of Valley Home Baptist Church in Todd. Including her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, Aster, Harm, Paul and Berchie Sluder, one sister, Hazel Neil. She always took great care of her family and others. She dearly loved her family and her church.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 11:00am at Valley Home Baptist Church by Rev. Charles McCoy and Rev. Denton Hart. Burial will follow in the Woodford cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-9pm Monday, March 10, 2008 at her home 5715 Threetop Road in Todd.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by, her husband, Marvin Lewis, two sons, Larry Marvin Lewis better known as "Sam" and wife Lucinda Gail of Jefferson, Tommy Brice Lewis and wife Rebecca Ann of Roan Mountain, TN, two daughters, Darlene Lewis McGuire and husband Robert Allen of Sugar Grove, NC, Carolyn Lewis Lakey and husband Richard Allen of Boone, one brother, JB Sluder of Lenoir, one sister, Katie Johnson of Creston, six grandchildren, Samantha Lewis Elmore, Genna Greer, Robert Max McGuire, Monica McGuire Harrison, Stacey Hartzog, Brandy Mae Lewis, two step-grandchildren, Steven Greer, Marie Greer, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Anna Jean Blevins Lambert, age 72 of Lansing, NC died Monday, March 3, 2008 at her daughter's home in Wilkesboro, NC. Mrs. Lambert was born February 2, 1936 in Ashe County to the late Freeman and Minnie Baldwin Blevins. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Lambert and a son, Jim Lambert. She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Billy Joe Blevins and Rev. Joe Riley Blevins. Burial will follow in the Scott-Blevins cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 PM Wednesday, March 5th at Badger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Faye Bare Day age 90 of Jefferson, NC the Friendship community, died Thursday, February 28, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Day was born July 10, 1917 in Ashe County to the late Ed and Alice Bare.

September 16, 1929 in Wilkes County to the late Benjamin and Cora Lee Richardson Phipps. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Weaver.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday at Pleasant Home Baptist Church by Rev. Lonnie Carpenter and Rev. Jack Pugh. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday at Badger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Beverly Rose Kimberlin Forbis, age 43, of West Jefferson, NC died Friday, February 22, 2008 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Mrs. Forbis was born December 8, 1964 in Thomasville, NC to Willie and Bertha Taylor Kimberlin. She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Richard Kimberlin. She was a loving wife and proud mother.
