Cressie Osborne Blevins
Ms. Cressie Osborne Blevins age 76 of Crumpler, NC died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Ms. Blevins was born March 13, 1931 in Ashe County to the late Golden and Emmer Mahala Osborne. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two brothers; J. R. Osborne and William Tracy Osborne, three sisters; Shirley Jean South, Wilma Dare Dunn and Mona Lee Osborne.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Wayne Roark & Rev. Reeves Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in the Scott-Blevins cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM Thursday prior to the funeral service.

Four sons: Jimmy Blevins and wife Renee of Warrensville, Carlton Blevins and wife Joan of West Jefferson, Gregory Blevins of the home & Danny Blevins and wife Carol of Hickory.
Two daughters: Linda Robinson and husband Ron of West Jefferson & Levone Phillips and husband Joe of Hickory.
Two brothers: John and Robert Osborne both of Creston
11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Nena Claiborne Griffin 77 of West Jefferson, NC died Sunday, February 10, 2008 at the home of her caregivers. Mrs. Griffin was born March 25, 1929 in Guilford County to the late Alexander and Helen Schneck Clairborne. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Westminister Gardens in Greensboro, NC. Ms. Griffin is survived by: Her husband: Charles Wesley Griffin of Jefferson, NC. Hallie Blevins
Mrs. Hallie Blevins, age 96 of Utica, OH died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008 in Utica, OH. Mrs. Blevins was born October 26, 1911 in WV to the late Bige and Alice Porter Workman.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Shelter Baptist Church by J. E. Blevins. Burial will follow in Scott-Blevins cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 PM prior to the service.

Mr. Robert Kenneth Patrick better known as Ken, age 37 of West Jefferson, NC died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at his home. Mr. Patrick was born January 17, 1971 in Ashe County to Robert Lee and Betty Eldreth Patrick. He was preceded in death by his mother.

James Stikes
Mr. James Russell 'Russ' Stikes, age 81 of Sparta, NC died Monday, February 4, 2008 at his home. Mr. Stikes was born November 11, 1926 in Grayson County, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents; Carl Hamm and Lockie Stike, his wife; Frankie Medley Stikes, son; Willard Stikes, grandson; Larry Evans Jr. and great-grandson; David White Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Reeves Jones and Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in the Poe cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 PM Wednesday, Feb. 6th at Badger Funeral Home.

Louise Burkett
Mrs. Louise Burkett, age 75 of Clemmons, NC formerly of Ashe, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Silas Creek Manor. Mrs. Burkett was born June 28, 1932 in Ashe County to the late Edward and Dora Wyatt Taylor. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband; Paul Burkett and brothers: Earl, George and J. C. Taylor. Mrs. Burkett loved to spend time with her granddaughters.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the Stephens Community cemetery with Rev. Justin Jones officiating.

James Bower Walters
Mr. James Bower Walters age 86 of West Jefferson died Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Walters was born in Ashe County on May 22, 1921 to the late Wade Hampton and Ellen Miller Walters. Including his parents he was preceded in death by all his brothers, sisters and one son Jim Walters.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 2:00pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Harvey Bauman officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Ridge cemetery with military rites.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Monday, February 4, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Walters is survived by:
His wife: Nellie "Nell" Crepps Walters, four Sons, Don Walters and Chris Walters both of West Jefferson, Ray Walters of Mountain City, Keith Walters of Laurel Springs, one daughter, Sandra Turner of Yadkinville, 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Pearl Woodie
Mrs. Pearl Harless Woodie, age 84 of West Jefferson, NC died Wednesday, January 23, 2007 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Mrs. Woodie was born March 26, 1923 in Ashe County to the late Cicero and Dorinda Absher Harless. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Mrs. Woodie was a member of Friendly Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She loved feeding her friends and family. Mrs. Woodie loved her four cats dearly and worried about them. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, January 25, 2007 at Friendly Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Gordon Rawls. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM-12:00 noon prior to the funeral service. Mr. Lemuel Graham Rash age 97 of Crumpler, NC died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Rash was born May 9, 1910 in Ashe County to the late Benjamin and Julia Rash. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife; Emmer Canter Rash, a son; Virgil Rash, a daughter; Wilma Mutter, one brother; John Rash, three sisters: Emma Rash, Magdalene Rash and Martha Daughtery.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 18, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home by Rev. Ronda Rash and Rev. Frankie Rash. Burial will follow in the Rash cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Mrs. Bobbie Miller Francis, age 82 of West Jefferson, NC died Tuesday, January 16, 2008 at Margate Health & Rehab in Jefferson. Mrs. Francis was born August 8, 1925 in Ashe County to the late Carl Eodrin and Hala Melinda Woodie Miller. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her brother R. C. Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lawrence Goodman. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:00 PM prior to the funeral. A private burial will be held.

Mrs. Phyllis Ann Bare Severt, age 41 of Jefferson, died Friday at NC Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem.

Juanita Roten Wilcox
Mrs. Juanita Roten Wilcox age 78 of Todd died Friday, January 11, 2008 at her home.
Juanita was born in Ashe County on May 4, 1929 to the late Rufus Fulton and Hattie Eller Roten. Juanita took good care of her family and many others in Ashe County as a caregiver; she liked to cook and made the best chocolate gravy. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. Including her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Stewart James Wilcox on December 22, 2007.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 2pm at Warrensville United Methodist Church by Rev. Tom Graybeal, Pastor Martha Kincaid and Rev. Jim Greer. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2-4pm Sunday, January 13, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wilcox is survived by, three sons, James Wilcox of Illinois, Danny Wilcox of Maryland and Roger Wilcox of Todd, one daughter, Jelene Williams-Cannon of Maryland, one sister, Wylene Graybeal of Jefferson,
