Howard Preston Lyle

Mr. Howard Preston Lyle, better know as Preston, age 67 of Jefferson, NC died Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at his home.

Mr. Lyle was born July 6, 1940 in Troy, MI to the late Eugene and Anna Lyle.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his stepmother Madge Brown Lyle.

Mr. Lyle was a member of the Warrensville Baptist Church.

He was an active in the Ashe Masonic Lodge, Ashe Shrine Club, where he served as a past president, Ashe JC's and the Kiwanas Club.

He enjoyed fishing at Myrtle Beach.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 17, 2007 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Wayne Osborne and Rev. Jeff Nave.

Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens with military and Masonic rites.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 PM Thursday, August 16th at Badger Funeral Home.

Mr. Lyle is survived by:

1 sister: Norma Renz and husband Robert of Delaware

Nieces and nephews: Danny Jones and wife Robin, Gary Jones, Leonard Shatley, Tim Walker, Mark Walker, Beverly Greene. Angie Whittington, Bobbie Dunion and husband Rick, Diane Kilpatrick and husband Danny, and Donna Bennett and husband Ronnie.

Mary Walters Burgess

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Walters Burgess age 89 of Jefferson died Friday, August 3, 2007 at Margate Health and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Burgess was born in Ashe County on September 25, 1917 to the late Wade Hampton Walters and Ellen Miller Walters.

She was an Inspector for Greensboro Manufacturing.

Including her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Burgess, one son Charles Ralph Burgess and one daughter, Violet Burgess Hodgson.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 5, 2007 at 3:00pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Russell Sheets, Rev. Billy Joe Blevins and Rev. Sonny Thompson.

Burial will follow in the Ebenezer cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-3pm Sunday prior to the funeral service at Badger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Burgess is survived by, 5 sons, Joe Burgess of Glendale Springs, David Burgess of Harmony, NC, Doug Burgess, Carlton Burgess and Edison Burgess all of Jefferson, 3 daughters, Sarah Burgess of Jefferson, Roxanna Redmond of Olin, NC, Martha Campbell of Crumpler, 1 brother, Bower Walters of West Jefferson, 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to High Country Health Care System Hospice, PO Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640.

The family will be meeting at the home of Joe Burgess, 6439 NC Hwy 16 South in Glendale Springs.

Badger Funeral Home of West Jefferson was entrusted with Mrs. Burgess' arrangements.

Pauline Walters

Mrs. Pauline Young Walters age 83 of Grassy Creek, NC died Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Walters was born November 20, 1923 in Ashe County to the late Irwin and Allice Waddell Young.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 4, 2007 at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. David Jones and Rev. Wayne Osborne.

Burial will follow in the Waddell cemetery in Grassy Creek.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Mrs. Walters is survived by:

4 sons: Jim Walters and wife Barbara of Warrensville, NC, Eddie Walters, Johnny Walters, Larry Walters and wife Betty all of Grassy Creek, NC

2 daughters: Jo Ann Phillips of Grassy Creek, NC and Janet Roop and husband Roger of West Jefferson, NC

Special Friend: Margaret Surber

15 grandchildren, 18 greatgrandchildren

The deceased again Mrs. Pauline Young Walters age 83 of Grassy Creek.

Ethel Fern Bare

Mrs. Ethel Fern Bare age 77 of Jefferson died Friday, July 20, 2007 at her home.

Mrs. Bare was born in Ashe County on May 15, 1930 to the late Lee and Cordie Bare.

Including her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Willie Bare and one sister Ella Mae Bare.

She worked in auto sleeve at Hanes Knit Products until she retired; following her retirement she worked as a homemaker where she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading and assembling jigsaw puzzles.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 23, 2007 at 2:00pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Floyd South officiating.

Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Badger Funeral Home.

Ms. Bare is survived by:
Three Sons: Danny Bare and wife Lila of Durham, NC, Gary Bare and wife Debbie of Lincolnton, NC, Greg Bare and wife Debbie of Sparta, NC, one Brother: Dallas Bare of Texas, one sister: Betty Nagel of Maryland, six grandchildren, James Bare, Joanna Bare, Beverly Lewis and husband Bryan, Steve Bare and wife Amy, Nicole Bazzel, Garrett Bare and I great-granddaughter, Kinsey Lane Lewis, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the American Heart Association c/o Cathy Finley, 392 Richardson Hollow Road, Lansing, NC 28643.

Pete Brinegar

Mr. G. D. Brinegar, known as Pete, age 73 of Lansing, NC died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at his home.

Mr. Brinegar was born May 21, 1934 in Ashe County to the late William and Cleo Stuart Brinegar.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers: Vaughn and Billy Brinegar and a sister, Ruth Powers.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Douglas Hardin and Rev. Jeremy Herring.

Burial will follow in the Blackburn cemetery in Lansing, NC.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 PM Friday, July 20th at Badger Funeral Home.

Mr. Brinegar is survived by:

One son: Dale Brinegar of Charlotte

One Daughter: Suzie Booth of Rock Hill, South Carolina

One Brother: Carl Brinegar of Lake Lure, NC

Two Sisters: Norma Jones of Columbia, SC

Bobbie Miller of Lansing, NC

Goldie Gay Dancy

Mrs. Goldie Gay Dancy, age 67 of West Jefferson, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at her home.

Mrs. Dancy was born May 28, 1940 in Ashe County to the late Parker and Della Ray Roark Latham.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Angela Dancy.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Tommy Dollar and Rev. Joey McClure and Rev. Billy Joe Blevins.

Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Mrs. Dancy is survived by:

Juanita Barnado

Mrs. Juanita Ingram Barnado, age 85 of Piney Creek, NC, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at her daughters home in Pauline, SC.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Sturgills Baptist Church by Rev. Lloyd Day.

Graveside services will be held Monday, July 23rd at 2:00 PM at Union Memorial Gardens in Union, SC.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 PM prior to the service.

Juanita was born in Potato Creek, VA.

The daughter of Jesse Geofrey Ingram and Guida Phipps Ingram.

She was the widow of Girard Barnado Sr. She was preceded in death by a son, Girard Barnado Jr.

She leaves behind a life devoted to her church and children.

She often spoke of the wonderful Christian Family found at Sturgills Baptist Church.

Pallbearers are: Danny Fulmer Sr., Danny Fulmer Jr., Matthew Fulmer, Aaron Fulmer, Jonathan Ingram and Mark Ingram. Honorary pallbearers are: Michael Ingram, Bruce BArnado, Albert Barnado, Timmy Sturgill, Kermit Wilcox, Steve Furno, Ed Sturgill, Steve Phipps, Bill Price, William Baldwin, Harold Baldwin, Ricky Little, Charles Howell, Jim Wiles, Guy Duvall and Danny Day.

Memorials may be made to Sturgills Baptist Church 155 Fees Branch Rd., Lansing, NC 28643 or Lutheran Hospice of South Carolina 2036 Medical Park Dr., Newberry, SC 29108.

Mrs. Barnado is survived by:

Two Sons: Samuel Jesse Barnado of Santuck, SC and Mark Barnado of Jonesville, SC

One daughter: Nancy Barnado Fulmer of Pauline, SC

Two sisters: Thelma Bachtell of Shelby, NC and Mildred Duke of Pauline, SC

7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a beloved niece, Sue Barnado Finch of Columbia, SC and several nieces and nephews.
