Boney Williams Jr.
WARRENTON — Boney Williams Jr., 45, of Brooklyn, N.Y., formerly of Warren County, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, in Coney Island Hospital in New York.
Arrangements will be announced later by Boyd’s Funeral Services of Warrenton.
Anne P. Currin
OXFORD — Anne Pitts Currin, 78, of 3138 Hwy. 96-S, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at Durham Regional Hospital in Durham. She was a Granville County native and the daughter of the late Arthur D. and Mary Lee Clay Pitts.
She was a member of Banks United Methodist Church, a member of the church choir and a member of the United Women.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Banks United Methodist Church by the Revs. Diane M.C. Blanchard and Frank Bourner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, S. Taylor Currin of the home; two daughters, Cheryl S. Currin of Oxford and Pat Gallagher of Oxford; two sisters, Lizzie Lee Foster and Lorraine Pitts Kearney, both of Oxford; one brother, James Madison Pitts of Oxford; and three grandchildren.
Immediately following the services, the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of Banks United Methodist Church, and other times at the home.

Virginia B. Pittard
OXFORD — Virginia B. Pittard, 93, of Dunn, and former resident of Granville County, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, in Harnett Nursing Home in Dunn. She was a Granville County native and the daughter of the late William C. and Nonia Usry.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dunn, a member of U.D.C. and retired as an elementary public school teacher.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Knotts Grove cemetery by the Rev. Leroy Pittard III.
Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Madeline M. Pittard of Butner and Lizzie P. Pittard of Oxford, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will follow the graveside services and at other times at the home of Tom and Pat Latta, 210 West “F” St., Butner.
Arrangements are by Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and Skinner Funeral Home in Dunn.
Bernard M. Smith
OXFORD — Bernard M. Smith, 79, a former resident of Pendleton, Ind., and a resident of 5151 Dorsey Place, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at his home.
He was the father of Dr. Michael Smith of Oxford.
Arrangements will be announced Saturday by the J.M. White Funeral Home.
Louis Williams
HENDERSON — Louis Williams, 80, of Rt. 2, Henderson, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at the Senior Citizens Home Inc. He was a Warren County native and the son of the late Hattie Kearney.
He was a member of Jordan Chapel Baptist Church where the funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. James Barham, Dr. A.A. Brown, Rev. W.S. Taylor, Minister Betty Hayes and Minister Sheila Bunt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Birdie Williams of the home; one son, Robert Williams of the home; four daughters, Dorothy Wilson of Warren County, Mary Kearney of Franklin County, Phyllis Kearney and Belinda Carroll of Henderson; one brother, George Kearney of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four sisters, Louvenia Milon of Franklin County, Myrtle Thomas, Hattie Beatrice Wiggins, Esther Wiggins of Brooklyn, N.Y.; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Floralbearers will be granddaughters.

George W. Wright
HENDERSON — George Washington Wright, 72, of 302 Lincoln Ave., died Friday, July 21, 2000, at his residence. He was a Franklin County native and the son of the late David and Pattie Green Wright.
He was educated in the Franklin County Schools and was a member of Haywood Baptist Church in Franklinton.
He was a retired employee of Bandag, Inc.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Big Zion A.M.E. Church by the Rev. Gaylyn Wilson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Emma W. Wright of the home; three children, Jerry O. Wright of Henderson, Sandra E. Farrior of Hawaii, Connie D. Watkins of Henderson; seven grandchildren; one brother, Charles Jordon of Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Josephine Teasley and Geneva Pettiford of Washington, D.C., and Mary Long of Louisburg.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Christine E. Askew
HENDERSON — Christine Edwards Askew, age, 69, a resident of 244 Rock Mill Road, died Thursday night at her home.
She was a native of Warren County and was the daughter of Jodie Mosley Edwards of Henderson and the late Willie Joe Edwards.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Unity Baptist Church.
Services will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. A. B. Greene, Jr. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by: her husband, Newell Winston Askew, of the home; three sons, Newell “Skeet” Askew, and Matthew Joe Askew, both of Kittrell, and David Van Askew of Henderson; two sisters, Emily Edwards and Helen E. Abbott, both of Henderson; three brothers, Willie Gray Edwards, Bobby Junior Edwards, and Jimmy Lewis Edwards, all of Henderson; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be James Winstead, Corbit Cash, William Edwards, Mike Edwards, Willie Edwards, Jr., and Morris Abbott, Jr.

Lonnie E. Blackmon
HENDERSON — Lonnie Edward “Smokey” Blackmon, age 73, a resident of 612 Flint Street, died Friday at Burnette Retirement Village in Louisburg.
He was a native of Vance County and was the son of the late Walter Baxter and Maddie Pollard Blackmon. He was the widower of Nellie Inscoe Blackmon.
Mr. Blackmon was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army. He was a self-employed welder, a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church where he was a former usher, a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and the Henderson Moose Lodge.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Joseph Jones. Burial will follow in the Liberty-Vance United Church Of Christ cemetery.
He is survived by: two daughters, Jane Blackmon Causby and Katherine Blackmon Baker, both of Henderson; two sons, Tony Blackmon and Ronnie Blackmon, both of Henderson; one brother, James R. Blackmon of Henderson, three granddaughters and one great-grandson.
The family will receive friends Sunday night from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Jane Causby and Katherine Baker at 43 Deer Track Lane and at the home of James and Alice Blackmon at 2365 Ross Mill Road, Henderson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Douglas Blackmon, Garland Blackmon, Rawlins Roberson, Wayne Matthews, Robert Maddox, Grady Maddox, and Clay Carter. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all members of The American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and Henderson Moose Lodge.

Lucy L. Lee
HENDERSON — Lucy Lee Johnson, age 81, a resident of 904 Alexander, died Thursday at her home.
She was a native of Granville County and was the daughter of the late Walter and Mollie Collins Lee. She was the widow of Graham Walter Johnson, and was a member of the Second Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Donnie Perkinson and the Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Johnson Robbins, of Henderson; one son, Ronald Walter Johnson, of Oxford; one sister, Dorothy L. Arrington, of Henderson; one brother, James Lee, of Henderson, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Graham David Johnson and Donald Gene Johnson, Sr. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at her home on Alexander Avenue.
Serving as active pallbearers wil be Bobby Robbins, Donald Gene Johnson, Jr., Douglas Gordon Johnson, Taylor O’Brient, David Lee, III, and Bennett E. Johnson, Jr.

HENDERSON — James Thomas Richardson, 73, of Henderson, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at Maria Parham Hospital following a sudden illness.
The family will be at 53 Chester Lane.

Peter J. Somerville
WARRENTON — Peter James Somerville, 74, of the Parktown community, Warrenton, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel. The Rev. Wendell Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow in the Baltimore Baptist Church cemetery in Warrenton.
Surviving are two sons, Clarence Watson and Alfonzo Watson, both of Warrenton; three stepchildren, Allen Brown and Revern Alston, both of Warrenton, and Bernard Davis of Henderson; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren; and one sister, Rosa Bullock of Warrenton.
The body will be on view today at Boyd’s Funeral Services until the hour of services.

MIDDLEBURG — Johnathan and Justin Janolis died Friday, July 28, 2000, at Kerr Lake.

Bernard M. Smith
OXFORD — Bernard M. Smith, age 79, a resident of 5151 Dorsey Road, died Thursday morning at his home.
He was a native of Pendleton, Indiana, and was the son of the late Willis Raye and Gertrude McCashland Smith. He was the widower of Olga Ann Buser Smith.
He was a graduate of Purdue University as an Electrical Engineer, was a retired colonel in the U.S. Air Force, and past president and owner of Marine Apparatus & Sales in Louisville, Ky.
He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Fortville, Ind. Funeral services will be held Monday at noon at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church in Louisville, Ky. Burial will follow in the Calvary cemetery in Louisville.
He is survived by: one son, Dr. Michael Smith, of Oxford; one daughter, Sue S. Strom, of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Willis Raye Smith, II of Sarasota, Fla. and Hugh Smith of Pendleton, Ind., 10 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 until 5 and 7 until 9 p.m. at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home at 3711 Lexington Road, Louisville, Ky.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church, 523 South Merrill Street, Fortville, IN 46040.

Helmy A. Zaki
OXFORD — Helmy A. Zaki, 56, died Friday, July 28, 2000, at Rex Hospital. He was a native of Sohag, Egypt.
He was a longtime auditor of the Internal Revenue Service in Raleigh. He was a founding member and deacon of St. Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church in Raleigh.
Surviving are his wife, Kawsar Zaki; three sons, George, Jimmy and Bobby; and two granddaughters.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church followed by burial at Raleigh Memorial Park in Raleigh.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Mitchell Funeral Home, Glenwood Avenue.

HENDERSON — Justin Thomas Janolis, 10, and Jonathon Wilson Janolis, 5, died Friday. They were members of Reedy Creek Baptist Church and students at E.O. Young School.
Rev. Frank Mullis will conduct funeral services 11:00 AM Monday at Reedy Creek Baptist Church, burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are parents, Thomas and Anita Evans Janolis; one brother, Josh Janolis of the home; maternal grandparents, Woody and Ann Evans of Norlina; paternal grandparents, Chuck Janolis of California and Beate Janolis of Rosarito Beach, CA; great grandmother, Shirley Gibson of Richmond, VA; Aunts and Uncles, Bob & Karen Kitchen of Cary, Andrea Boatman of CA, Hurley and Cathy Evans; cousin Crystal Adcock.
