WARRENTON — John C. Banks Sr., 63, of Macon, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at home.
Arrangements will be announced later by R.H. Greene Funeral Home in Warrenton.

Classie Minter

SANFORD — Classie Mae Victoria Davis Minter, 75, of 103 Gill St., Sanford, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at Central Carolina Hospital.
She attended Cameron Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Broadway. She was a volunteer at Central Carolina Hospital for many years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Tuesday at Locust Baptist Church in Wise by the Rev. James Johnson, pastor. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Clinton Minter of the home; one stepson, Sandy Minter of Charlotte; one stepdaughter, Emma M. Scates of Bronx, N.Y.; one sister, Elizabeth Williams of Washington, D.C.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Horton Funeral Chapel.
Arrangements are by Horton Funeral Home of Sanford.

WARRENTON — John C. Banks Sr., 63, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Macon. The Rev. Timothy Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow in the Warrenton City cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Somerville Banks of New York; four daughters, Beatrice Hinton and Gladys Banks, both of Macon, Dorothy Jacobs and Carolyn Dunston, both of Oxford; four sons, Glen Banks of Silver Springs, Md., John C. Banks Jr. of Oxford, Ricky Banks of Moreno Valley, Calif., and Norman Banks of Macon; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mable Mason of Macon, and Rosa Milam of Warrenton; and one brother, William Roscoe Banks of Macon.
Arrangements are by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Rodderick Douglas

NORLINA — Rodderick Douglas, 26, of Norlina, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was a Warren County deputy sheriff.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Warren County High School. The Rev. Glendora Hargrove will officiate. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Roosevelt cemetery in Norfolk, Va.
Surviving are his wife, Shrounda Small Douglas of the home; two daughters, Sheilaquenck and Jalen of the home; one son, Natorious, of the home; his mother, Katherine Bray of Bracey, Va.; one sister, Shanon Etheridge of Chesapeake, Va.; and one brother, Orlando Douglas of Richmond, Va.
Arrangements are by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Takayla Y. Judkins

HENDERSON — Takayla Yasmean Judkins, infant daughter of Alice Carman and Charles Judkins, has died.
Arrangements will be announced later by Garnes Funeral Services Inc.

David L. Kearney Jr.

OXFORD — David Lee Kearney Jr., 80, of 5640-C Cornwall Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at N.C. Memorial Hospital.
He was a Granville County native and the son of the late David Lee Kearney Sr. and Hallie Breedlove Kearney. He was a retired painter.
Graveside services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday at Meadowview Memorial Park by the Rev. John Yount officiating.
Surviving are his wife, Joe Ann Morris Kearney; one son, David Lee Kearney III of Lenoir; three daughters, Deborah Listman, Patricia Bennett and Linda Parham, all of Oxford; four sisters, Doris Pleasants, Violet Midyette, and Louise Blevins, all of Oxford, Kathleen Baker of Newport News, Va.; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home.
Arrangements are by Eakes Funeral Home of Oxford.

James L. Oakley

OXFORD — James Latrick Oakley, 36, of 1613 Hwy. 158 West, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at U.N.C. Hospitals.
Arrangements will be announced later by Wright Funeral Home.

Fannie S. Steed

WARRENTON — Fannie Somerville Steed, 95, of Hackensack, N.J., formerly of Warren County, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, in New Jersey.
Arrangements will be announced later by Boyd’s Funeral Services of Warrenton.

Jerry J. Williams

HENDERSON — Jerry Jerome Williams, 42, of Kittrell, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000.
Arrangements will be announced by Garnes Funeral Services Inc.

Rodderick Douglas

NORLINA -- Rodderick Douglas, 26, of Norlina, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

HENDERSON -- Ethel Mae Miller, 81, of Duplin County, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, in Maria Parham Hospital.
She was the sister of Cora Lee Lofton.
The family will receive friends at the home of Preston Cannady, 1064 North Pinkston Street.
Arrangements will be announced later by Mary Davis-Royster Funeral Service.

James L. Oakley III

OXFORD -- James Latrick “Charlie” Oakley III, 36, of 1613 Hwy. 158 West, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at UNC Hospitals.
He was a member of New Corinth Baptist Church. He was a mechanic.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wright Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Harold Watkins. Burial will be in New Corinth Baptist Church cemetery.
Surviving are his parents, James L. Oakley Jr. of Oxford and Catherine McAden Oakley of Butner; two sisters, Ruby Peace of Durham and Crystal Oakley of Butner; one brother, Obie Oakley of Oxford; a paternal grandmother, Mamie P. Oakley of Oxford; and a maternal grandmother, Ruby McAden of Durham.
The family will receive visitors Saturday one hour prior to services at Wright Funeral Home.

George M. Poythress

HENDERSON -- George Madison Poythress, 76, of 120 Sunset Circle, Henderson, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at U.N.C. Hospitals in Chapel Hill. He was a Vance County native and the son of the late William O. and Lessie Hoyle Poythress.
He was a retired service station owner and operator. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Carey Baptist Church, and the B.D. Adcock Sunday school class.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Carey Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. John Hackworth. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Grace Brame Poythress; a son, Dennis M. Poythress, and wife, of Henderson; two sisters, Virginia P. Boyd, and Vivian P. Longmire, both of Henderson; two step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be J.O. “Butch” Poythress, Maurice Boyd, Charles Boyd, Glenn Boyd, Jerry Boyd, Keith Longmire, Clinton Poythress, Terry Poythress, Kevin Poythress, Larry Brame, Harvey Brame, and Mike Brame. The B.D. Adcock Sunday school class of Carey Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Carey Baptist Church, Fund for Handicapped Ramp Improvement, 1295 Carey Chapel Road, Henderson, N.C. 27536.
Arrangements are by Flowers Funeral Home of Henderson.

Jerry J. Williams

KITTRELL -- Jerry Jerome Williams, 42, of Kittrell, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000. He was a native of Vance County and the son of the late Uyless Paul Sr. and Blanche Alston Williams.
He was educated in the Vance County Public Schools and was also an employee at Kittrell Grocery for many years.
He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in which he was a member of the Sunday school, Baptist Young People’s Union, Youth Club, and the Junior Choir.
He also attended Progressive Faith Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Bethel Baptist Church by the Revs. Harry L. Williams, Fearldine Simmons, Omega Perry and Lindsey Baskett. Burial will follow in Blacknall cemetery.
Surviving are one sister, Brenda Paulette Williams; three brothers, Uyless Paul Williams Jr., Rev. Harry Lee Williams and Michael Fitzgerald Williams.
The family will receive friends at the home, 1191 U.S. 1 South in Kittrell and at 715-D East Andrews Ave., Henderson.

Clifton D. Wrenn

LOUISBURG -- Clifton Douglas Wrenn, 70, of 3987 U.S. 401 Hwy. North, Louisburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at his home.
He was employed with the Department of Transportation for 38 years, retiring in 1987. He was active in Ingleside Lions Club and member of Ann Perdue Sunday school class.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Dottie Wrenn; three sons, Mike Wrenn of Raleigh, Tommy Wrenn of Creedmoor and Carey Wrenn of Louisburg; one sister, Maebelle Hardy of Nashville; two brothers, Paul Wrenn of Nashville and Cleveland Wrenn of Louisburg; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Lancaster Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 4272 U.S. 401 Hwy. North, Louisburg, N.C. 27549.

Steven Mark Dickerson

STOVALL — Steven Mark Dickerson, age 34, a resident of 303 Railroad St. Stovall, died Thursday August 17, 2000.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7 until 8:30 at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Joann Strickland 409 Pine St., Stovall.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the J.M. White Funeral Home.

Takayla Y. Judkins

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one sister, Jamalia Judkins; grandparents, Luvenia Hart, Roland Carman, Barbara Russell and Charles Judkins; stepgrandparents, Alvin Hart and John Russell; and great-grandparents, Corrine Davis, Walter and Virginia Hawkins.

Colyn Ronald Lee

KITTRELL — Colyn Ronald Lee, infant twin son of Christie Ayscue Jackson and Hubert Ronald Lee, died Wednesday night a UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill. The family will

Claude M. Robinson II

Claude Marshall Robinson, II, age 93, a former resident of the Ruin Creek Road, died Thursday morning in a local nursing home.
He was a native of Vance County and was the son of the late Claude Marshall Robinson, Sr. and Emma Brame Robinson.
He was the widower of Ruth Carter Robinson.
He was retired from Bowers and Burroughs Oil Company where he worked for 30 years, a member of the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church where he was a former Deacon and Elder, member of the Adult Sunday School Class, and Men Of The Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Cam Ford and the Rev. Frank Sossamon.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He is survived by one daughter, Barbara R. Burwell of Oxford; one son, Clyde T. Robinson, Sr., of Henderson; seven grandchildren, C. T. Roberson, Jr., Vickie Ball, Randy Moody, Steve Moody, Scott Burwell, Eugene Burwell, and Kimberly Lester, twelve great-grandchildren, Morgan Roberson, Justin Roberson, Colin Roberson, Randall Ball, Ryan Ball, Jennifer Moody, Christy Moody, David Moody, Cathy Moody White, Tori Burwell, Dustin Burwell, and Jeremy Burwell, two great great grandchildren, Emma Lee Moody, Aaron Moody.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Emma Frances Moody.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the J.M. White Funeral Home.
At other times they will be at the home of Clyde and Virginia Robinson at 1650 Ruin Creek Road. Serving as active pall bearers will be his grandsons and great grandsons. Arrangements are by the J.M. White Funeral Home.
