HENDERSON — Ronnie Dunston, 41, of Andrews Ave., Henderson, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at the U.N.C. Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Arrangements will be announced later by Garnes Funeral Services Inc.

Emma Winston

FRANKLINTON — Emma Frances Fuller Winston, 66, of 2040 Hwy. 56 (W. Green St.), died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at Durham Regional Hospital.
She was a member of Refuge Temple where she served on Missionary Society and usher board.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Refuge Temple by Bishop T.E. Woolfolk. Burial will follow in Union A.M.E. Zion Church cemetery.
She is survived by a husband, Elder Willie L. Winston; three sons, Willie T. Winston of Philadelphia, Pa., Maurice Winston of Orlando, Fla., and Michael Fuller of New York City, N.Y.; three stepdaughters, Carolyn Winston of Croden, N.Y., Judy Winston of Peekskill, N.Y., and Vera Winston of Albany, N.Y.; six sisters, Elnora Fuller, Emma Perry, Emily Fuller and Carrie Fuller, all of Franklinton, Mildred Henderson of Durham, and Minister Annie Burrell of Creedmoor; one brother, Rev. Dock Fuller Jr. of Franklinton; two half-brothers, Clarence Hart of Creedmoor and Lumus E. Hart of Passaic, N.J.; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home of Oxford.

Oliver E. Brewer

TOWNSVILLE -- Oliver Edgar Brewer, age 85, a resident of 1933 Rock Spring Church Road, died Wednesday morning at Maria Parham Hospital.
He was a native of Vance County and was the son of the late John Hamett and Effie Capps Brewer. He was the widower of Julia Parrott Brewer and was a retired tobacco farmer. Mr. Brewer was a member of the Tabernacle United Methodist Church and served as it’s Treasurer for forty-seven years. He was a charter member of the Townsville Lions Club, and a past Treasurer and Board member of the Townsville Volunteer Fire Department. He also served on the Boards of the Vance County Farm Bureau, Vance County Social Services, and the former Kerr Lake School.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Townsville by the Rev. Henry Lovelace and the Rev. Joyce Day. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by one daughter, Anne B. Howell, and son-in-law, Thomas H. Howell, of Townsville; one granddaughter, Melanie Howell, of Townsville; one sister, Christine B. Samford, of Townsville; and one brother, Byron M. Brewer, of Forest City.
The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Thomas and Anne Howell at 1700 Rock Spring Church Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Kenneth Clark, John Clark, Henry L. Green, Dave Norwood, Ron Anderson, and Amos Brewer.
Serving as honorary pall bearers will be all members of the Townsville Lions Club.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Sylvia Anderson, P. O. Box 203, Townsville, N. C. 27584. Arrangements are by J.M. White Funeral Home.

Eddie Ellis

ROXBORO -- Eddie Ellis, 82, of 2861 Dirgie Mine Road, Roxboro, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at the Granville Medical Center.
He was a Granville County native and the son of the late James Ellis and Ella Thomas Ellis.
Surviving are his wife, Vearl B. Ellis; four sons, Clarence Ellis, Ricky Ellis, and Eddie Devon Ellis, all of Roxboro, Edward Neal Ellis of Baltimore, Md., Thelma Crumpler of Raleigh, Cora L. Chavis of Oxford, and Erica L. Ellis of Roxboro; two brothers, Frank Ellis and Galvetser Ellis, both of Oxford; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at White Rock Baptist Church in Berea with the Rev. Joe Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Elijah Grove Church cemetery in Person County.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Betts & Son Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home of his daughter, 3008 Henry Wilson Road.
Arrangements will be announced later by Betts & Son Funeral Home in Oxford.

Annie Lee Powell Drake

WARRENTON -- Annie Lee Powell Drake, 87, of 311 Graham Street, died Thursday at her residence. Mrs. Drake was a Warrenton Native born September 10, 1912 to the late John Clay Powell and Sarah W. Alston Powell.
Mrs. Drake was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, a graduate of East Carolina Teachers College, member of the Elementary Education Council, Poe Society, Theta Tau Epsilon, Sea Gift Literary Society, YWCA and YWCA Choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Marvin “Junie” Drake.
Rev. Steve Edwards will conduct funeral services 2 p.m. Friday at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Greenwood cemetery in Macon.
Surviving is her only child, Sara Lee D. Scott and husband George R. Scott of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren, Bill Scott and wife Suzi of Cornelius, NC, Leann Scott Corcoran and husband Daniel J. Corcoran III of Arlington, VA; one great-grandchild, Sarah Kathryn Scott.
Arrangements are being handled by Blaylock Funeral Home.

Ronnie Dunston

HENDERSON -- Ronnie Dunston, 41, of Andrews Avenue, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at the UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill after a lengthy illness. He was a Vance County native and the son of the late Lucilla Mae Dunston.
He was educated in the Vance County Public School system and was a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte. He was also a former employee of John Umstead Hospital in Butner.
Surviving are one brother, Randolph Dunston of Tampa, Fla., three aunts and two uncles.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mildred Dunston, 537 Highland Ave., Henderson.
Arrangements are by Garnes Funeral Services Inc.

Margaret H. Durham

HENDERSON -- Margaret Hargrove Durham, 70, of 1465 Newton Dairy Road, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, at the Senior Citizen’s Homes Inc. of Henderson. She was a Warren County native and the daughter of the late Daniel and Etta Henderson Hargrove.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Oak Level United Church of Christ cemetery in Drewry by the Rev. Leon White.
She is survived by her husband, Jesse Lee Durham; two daughters, Dorothy Hargrove of Henderson and Betty Hargrove of Charlotte; one son, Arvell Hargrove of Charlotte; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Arrangements are by Garnes Funeral Services Inc.

Mary E. Deans

HENDERSON -- Mary Estelle Deans, 83, of 1230 A. Height St., died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, in Fairbanks Memorial Hospital in Fairbanks, Alaska. She was the widow of William Woodrow Deans.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Spring Hope Funeral Home by the Rev. Paul Tolbert. Interment will follow in Forest Hills cemetery in Nashville.
She is survived by three daughters, Laura Collie Stroud of Morristown, Tenn., Linnie Deans Anderson of Spring Hope, Betty D. Harris of North Pole, Ala.; two brothers, Jack Rogers Baines of Nashville, Mark Clayton “Frog” Baines of Spring Hope; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Spring Hope Funeral Home and other times at the home of Linnie Anderson, 1426 Wiley Road in Spring Hope.
Arrangements are by Spring Hope Funeral Home of Spring Hope.

James Mitchener

HENDERSON -- James Mitchener, 86, of 755 Southerland St., died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at Maria Parham Hospital.
Arrangements will be announced later by Williams Funeral Home.

Rev. Floyd M. Perry

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- The Rev. Floyd M. Perry, 92, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at his Brooklyn, N.Y., residence.
Arrangements will be announced later by Brown’s Funeral Services Inc.

Priscilla A. Ragland

HENDERSON -- Priscilla Ann Ragland, 40, of 3368 Raleigh Road, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at the UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
Arrangements will be announced later by Garnes Funeral Services Inc.

Cornell Robertson

OXFORD -- Cornell Robert-son, 66, of Oxford, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at the Triangle Hospice in Hillsborough.
Arrangements will be announced later by Boyd’s Funeral Services of Warrenton.

Henry Williams Jr.

GAITHERSBURG, MD. -- Henry Williams Jr., 59, of Gaithersburg, Md., formerly a Franklin County native, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, Md.
Arrangements will be announced later by Garnes Funeral Services Inc.

Glenn T. Brinkley

CREEDMOOR -- Glenn Thurman Brinkley, 85, of 4525 Old Weaver Trail, Northside community, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at Duke Medical Center in Durham. He was a Wake County native and the son of the late James A. and Leoma Starnes Brinkley.
He was a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church and was a retired farmer and business man.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Olive Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Jack Hollowell. Interment will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Durham.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Ellen Mcalister Brinkley of the home; two daughters, Leoma B. Britt of Greensboro and LeMerle Brinkley of New York, N.Y.; two sons, Glenn T. Brinkley II of Durham, Leslie O. Brinkley of Creedmoor; a sister, Marie Keith Whitaker of Creedmoor; and seven grandchildren.
Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Olive Grove Baptist Church, 3024 Olive Grove Church Road, Creedmoor, N.C. 27522.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and at other times at the home.

Dorothy A. DePotie

HENDERSON -- Mrs. Dorothy Andrade DePotie, 90, of Clifton Springs, N.Y., formerly of Clarksville, Va., died Tuesday, August 29, 2000, in New York.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Ralph H. and Jane Higgs Andrade. She was the widow of Roland A. DePotie.
Mrs. DePotie was a retired telephone operator with New York Telephone Company. She was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Townsville.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 11:30 a.m., in Tabernacle United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Joyce Day. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are a daughter, Doloris Guntrum, and husband, Marshall, of Penfield, N.Y.; a son, Wayne DePotie, and wife, Ruth, of Palmyra, N.Y.; a brother, Ralph Andrade, and wife, Florence, of Smithfield, N.C; four grandchildren, Cindy VandeWall, of Rochester, N.Y., Scott VandeWall, of Penfield, N.Y., Diane DePotie, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Donna Schober, and husband, Alan, of Newark, N.J.; three great-grandchildren, Russel VandeWall, Jarrett Schober, and Alexandra Schober; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Clifton Springs Nursing Home, Attention: Activity Department, Clifton Springs Hospital, 2 Coulter Road, Clifton Springs, N.Y. 14432.
Flowers Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Elsie M. Pearson

CLARKSVILLE, VA. -- Elsie Mae Pearson, 57, of Clarksville, Va., died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at her residence. She was a native of Mecklenburg County, Va., and the daughter of the late Joseph Pearson Sr. and Annie Small Pearson.
She was a former employee Revlon in Oxford and was a member of Island Hill United Church of Christ.
She is survived by nine children, Sandra Walker of Wake Forest, Robert Pearson of Fort Ralley, Kan., Kathy Williams of Williamsboro, Karen Little of Charlotte, Joetta Kohn of Urbana, Ill., Nikki Williams of LaCrosse, Va., Devan, Derrick and Kimberly, all of Clarksville, Va.; 10 grandchildren; her mother, Annie S. Pearson of Clarksville, Va.; five sisters, Alice Royster of Atlanta, Ga., Lydia Roberts of Townsville, Henrietta P. McAllister of Oxford, Gloria P. Royster of Bullock, and Mary Pearson of Clarksville, Va.; and three brothers, Willis Pearson of Bronx, N.Y., Joseph Pearson of Clarksville, Va., and Freeman Pearson of Roxboro.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Island Hill United Church of Christ in Clarksville, Va., with the Rev. Sheldon Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family received visitors from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 216 Fourth St., Clarksville, Va.

Rev. Floyd M. Perry

WARRENTON -- The Rev. Floyd Marshall Perry, 92, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at his Brooklyn, N.Y., residence. He was a Warren County native and the son of the late William Henry Perry and Annie B. Plummer Perry. He was the widower of the former Chloe Williams.
After attending John R. Hawkins High School, he continued his ministry education at Shaw University.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Zion Baptist Church in the Liberia community. The Rev. Dr. Robert Burnette will officiate. Burial will be in the Perry Family cemetery on Hwy. 43.
Surviving are seven daughters, Betty Miller and Wilhemenia Hughes, both of New York, N.Y., Alma Perry of Staten Island, N.Y., Ruby Perry of Frederick, Md., and Elaine Wilson, Christine Perry and Edna Smith, all of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four sons, Floyd Perry Jr. of Castleberry, Ala., John Perry of Silver Spring, Md., Eugene Perry of South Carolina and Conrad Perry of New York, N.Y.; several grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The body will be on view at the funeral home beginning on Tuesday from 2 to 7:30 p.m. and will lie in state at the church for one hour before the service.
Pallbearers and floralbarers will be friends and family members.
Arrangements are by Brown’s Funeral Services Inc. of Warrenton.

Charles C. Robertson

OXFORD -- Charles Cornell Robertson, 66, of Oxford, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at Tri-angle Hospice in Hillsborough.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Wright Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. The Rev. James Issac III will officiate. Burial will follow in the Meadowview Memorial Park in Oxford.
Surviving are his wife, Estoria Chavis Robertson of the home; one son, Charles Williams of Oxford; four daughters, Shelia Bernell Robertson, Shelissa Vanessa Robertson, Cassandra Robertson Webb and Antonia Denise Robertson, all of Oxford; four sisters, Mary Daniels, Ann Robertson Jiminez and Australia Robertson, all of Oxford, and Pearl Willis of Richmond, Va.; two brothers, James Donnell Robertson and Joseph Harris, both of Washington, D.C.; and six grandchildren.
The body will be on view today at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton.

Priscilla A. Ragland

HENDERSON -- Priscilla Ann Ragland, 40, of 3368 Raleigh Road, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at the UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. She was a Warren County native and the daughter of Mary Anna Henderson.
She was a graduate of Norlina High School and a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Manson where the funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday by Dr. Richard Henderson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving, in addition to her mother of the home, are three daughters, Sylester Jeanette Henderson of Wilson, Latarcia Renee Ragland and Georgia Melissa Ragland, both of Henderson; one sister, Stephanie Regina Henderson of the home; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Pallbearers will be Robert Henderson, Kendell Baskett Sr., Rufus Henderson Jr., Lawrence Cousin, Tony Henderson and Bernard Crosson.
Floralbearers will be Sylvia Bullock, Maria Henderson, Lillie Marie, Francis Waverly, Kelly Henderson, Barbara Jones, Shirley Evans and Mary Bullock.
Arrangements are by Garnes Funeral Services Inc.

Jonathan B. Bullock

OXFORD -- Jonathan Brame Bullock, age 3, of 111 Grace St., son of James and Cathy Newell Bullock, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000.
Arrangements will be announced later by Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home of Oxford.
