HENDERSON -- Louise Taylor, 66, a native of Henderson, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Guardian Care Nursing Home.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Shirley Owens, 708 Gordon St.
Arrangements will be announced later by Mary Davis-Royster Funeral Service.

Staff Sgt. Cleonis O. White

FAYETTEVILLE -- Staff Sergeant Cleonis O. White, 50, of Fayetteville, formerly of Warrenton, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Manson. Dr. Richard M. Henderson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis F. White; two sons, Staff Sergeant Marvin S. Foreman Sr., of Germany and Michael O. White of San Diego, Calif.; two grandchildren; eight sisters, Lizzie Daves, Loretta Hargrove, Zaida White, all of Manson, Otelia Williams and Cornelia Davis, both of Richmond, Va., Argatha Vass and Lillian Green, both of Henderson, and Evangelist Marinda Alston of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five brothers, Albert M. White Jr., of Charlotte, Robert L. White and Clarence White, both of Manson, Alexander White Sr., of Henderson, and Lieutenant Peter White III of Fayetteville.
The body will be on view today at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel until taken to the church one hour prior to the services.
Arrangements are by Boyd’s Funeral Services.

James Alexander Sr.
HENDERSON -- James Alexander Sr., a resident of 507 Mayo St., died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Maria Parham Hospital.
The family will be at 16 Regina Lane, Henderson.
Arrangements are by E.C. Terry’s Funeral Service.

Harriet D. Badger

HENDERSON -- Harriet Davis Badger, 89, of 249 Gholson Ave., died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, in a local nursing home. Arrangements will be announced later by J.M. White Funeral Home.

Deidtre O. Blash

HENDERSON -- Deidtre Ora Blash, 29, of 1002 E. Andrews Ave., has died. The family will receive friends at the home.
Arrangements will be announced later by Garnes Funeral Services Inc.

Annie M. Gill

GREENSBORO-- Annie Mae Gill, 86, of Greensboro, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at her home. She was a Vance County native and the daughter of the late James Early and Carrie Foster Massenburg. She was the widow of Alexander Gill.
Surviving are two brothers, Archie I. Massenburg of Henderson and Percy L. Massenburg Sr., of Portsmouth, Va.; four sisters, Mary Ethel Atkins, Ellen A. Mitchell and Mollie E. Almeade, all of Jamaica, N.Y., and Velma Boykin of Southfield, Mich.
She was a member of New Light Baptist Church in Greensboro.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at New Light Baptist Church in Greensboro by the Rev. Dr. Cardes H. Brown Jr., pastor. Burial will follow in Piedmont Memorial Park.
Arrangements are by Perry J. Brown Funeral Home.

Michael F. McGrath

OXFORD -- Michael Frances McGrath, 38, of 419 Lewis St., died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Granville Medical Center. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Home.

Emma M. Riley

MARIETTA, GA. -- Emma Milon Riley, 76, of 1682 Hammond Wood Circle, Marietta, Ga., formerly a Vance County native died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, in Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Julius W. Milon and Martha Foster. She was the stepdaughter of Bertha McKnight Milon Wimbush.
She was educated in the Heck’s Grove School.
She was a member of Zion Gospel Church in Jamaica, N.Y., where she served on the usher board and as a missionary.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are one son, George E. Milon of Abbeville, S.C.; one daughter, Lucille Milon Rountree of Bellport, N.Y.; one sister, Mary Milon Harrison of District Heights, Md.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers and floralbearers will be friends of the family.
Arrangements are by Garnes Funeral Services Inc.

Debra A. Ayscue
HENDERSON -- Debra Ange Ayscue, age 44, a resident of 1803 Peace Street, died Tuesday night at Duke Medical Center.
She was a native of Jamesville, N.C. and was the daughter of Ghurman and Jessie Chesson Ange. She was a homemaker, a member of the Jamesville Christian Church, and the Indoor Outdoor Garden Club of which she was treasurer.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the J.M. White Funeral Home by the Rev. Kenneth Bunch. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Dwight M. Ayscue, of the home; one stepdaughter, Jamie Ayscue of Greenville.; one step-son, Kyle Ayscue of Burlington; one sister, Cindy A. Camlin of Kinston; and one brother, Curtis Ange of Columbia City, Indiana.
The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Barry Wester, Bill Stark, Dickie Flye, Gary Bowman, Aaron Wright, and Bill Twitty.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Vance County Relay for Life, c/o Tommy Crocker, 1721 Bobbitt Road, Kittrell, N. C. 27544.
Arrangements are by the J.M. White Funeral Home.

Harriet Davis Badger

Lifelong Henderson resident Harriet Davis Badger died on December 5, 2000. She was in her 90th year.
Mrs. Badger was born in Henderson on September 20, 1911, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Davis of Henderson. Her maternal grandparents were Judge Thomas M. Pittman and Harriet Thrower Pittman, also of Henderson.
Mrs. Badger is survived by her two children, Thomas Badger IV, of Henderson and Raleigh and Elizabeth Pittman Badger Wallace, of Wilton, Conn. She also is survived by five grandchildren, Thomas Badger V, of Raleigh; Katherine Badger Craig, of Los Angeles; Everett Kenhelm Wallace II, of New York; Pittman Davis Wallace, of Fairfield, Conn.; and Harriet Badger Wallace, of Washington, D.C.; and one great-grandson, James Scott Cassidy Craig.
Mrs. Badger was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson, where her mother was the organist for many years. Mrs. Badger also was a member of the Henderson Tuesday Club and the Garden Club.
A graveside service will be held at Elmwood cemetery at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2000 by Dr. Marion D. Lark.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Vance County Historical Society, P.O. Box 1850, Henderson, N.C. 27536.
The family will greet friends at Mistletoe Villa after the service.
J.M. White Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Beatrice R. Ellis

GRANVILLE COUNTY -- Beatrice Royster Ellis, a Granville County native, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2000, in Fayetteville of an apparent heart attack. She was the daughter of the late Henry Royster Sr. and Mattie Smith Royster of Oxford.
She was educated in the public schools of Granville County. After graduating from high school, she left Granville County and moved to Jersey City, N.J., where she stayed until she retired. After retirement, she and her husband, Floyd, made their home in Fayetteville. Her husband preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Quincy Ellis of Richmond, Va., and Kenneth Ellis of the home; five sisters, Mary Peace of Jersey City, N.J., Vernell Anderson and Mary McGhee of Oxford, Adlene Glover of Butner, Bessie Royster of Richmond, Va.; three brothers, James Royster of New York City, the Rev. Mark Royster of Chapel Hill and Henry E. Royster of Oxford; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The family received visitors and friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral.
Arrangements were by Highland Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
Local announcements are by Wright Funeral Home.

Ethon Foster

LOUISBURG -- Ethon Foster, 71, of 5266 Hwy. 39 North, Louisburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Maria Parham Hospital. He was a Franklin County native and the son of the late John and Lucy Thomas Foster.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Mitchell Baptist Church by the Revs. Daniel Lilly Jr. and Homer Diggs. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Foster of the home; four children, Bernice Foster, Gladys Foster-Young and John Foster, all of Henderson, Mary Foster of Petersburg, Va.; two sisters, Ruby Harris and Betty Alston, both of Henderson; one adopted brother, Willie Southerland of Bronx, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Arrangements are by Garnes Funeral Services Inc.

Calvon E. Hester

OXFORD -- Calvon Edward Hester, 31, of 107 Meadow Circle, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Durham Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wright Funeral Chapel by the Rev. James Hester. Burial will be in Cheatham cemetery.
Surviving are his parents, Calvin Hester and Gladys Hester of the home; three brothers, Gerald Conyers of Fort Hood, Texas, and Dwight Hester of Oxford, and Willanski Hester of Henderson; four sisters, Willine Battle of Brooklyn, N.Y., Nikita Mann of Henderson, Sheila Evans and Felicia Morimone, both of Oxford.
The family will receive visitors at the residence. The body will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Wright Funeral Home.

Ruby Broadway Manly

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Ruby Broadway Manly, 92, of 431 Leyswood Drive, died Wednesday, December 6, 2000, at Magnolia Place of Greenville following a short illness.
Born in Manning, S.C., she was the daughter of Henry Joseph and Bertha Thompson Broadway, and widow of Murphy Martin Manly. She was a charter member of Downtown Baptist Church. She has been active in her church and for years was a Sunday School teacher at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, Charlotte, N.C., and First Baptist Church, Greenville, S.C. She and her husband established and owned Manly Furniture Company. She also worked at Belk-Simpson Company for a number of years. She has been Worthy Grand Matron of the S.C. Order of the Eastern Star and served in many capacities in this organization locally and state-wide.
She is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Rosalie M. Burnett of Greenville, Helen M. Flannagan and her husband, Stephen G. Flannagan, of Henderson, N.C., and Dorothy M. Tripp of Charlotte, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Pamela B. Glass of Greenville, Mark D. Bryan of Fountain Inn, Celia F. Adams of Huddleston, Va., Beth F. Gatewood of Chesapeake, Va., C. Bryan Tripp, Jr., of Charlotte, N.C., Andrew M. Tripp of Charlotte, N.C., Craig A. Tripp of Raleigh, N.C., and Melody T. Maddox of W. Columbia, S.C.; one brother, Early T. Broadway of Durham, N.C.; and one sister, Florence B. Rembert of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and ten great-grandchildren.
A service will be held in Remembrance Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Friday, December 8. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall of the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 2600 Wade Hampton Blvd.
The family is at the residence of her daughter, Rosalie M. Burnett, 431 Leyswood Drive.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Downtown Baptist Church, 101 W. McBee Ave., Greenville, S.C. 29601.
The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive is in charge of arrangements.

Michael F. McGrath

OXFORD -- Michael Frances McGrath, 38, of 419 Lewis St., died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Granville Medical Center. He was a native of Washington, D.C.
He was dedicated to Jehovah.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wright Funeral Chapel by Ronald Chavis.
Surviving are his wife, Jo Ann Dahl McGrath; four children, Grabriella, Michael, Jr., Shaunna, and Shane, all of the home; his parents, David J. McGrath and Theresa McGrath of Barrington, N.H.; four brothers, David McGrath Jr. of Bedford, Va., Paul McGrath of Kingman, Ariz., Joel McGrath of Roanoke, Va., and Matthew McGrath of Barrington, N.H.; four sisters, Kim Bixler of Falls Church, Va., Theresa Lampert of Woodstock, Ga., Maureen Botelho of Tiverton, R.I., and Susan Luizzi of Plymouth, Mass.
The family will receive visitors from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wright Funeral Home.

Marjorie Mason

HENDERSON -- Marjorie Mason, 98, of Guardian Care of Henderson, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000.

Louise Ragland

HENDERSON -- Louise Ragland, 67, of 960 Fred Royster Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at the Granville Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced later by Garnes Funeral Services Inc.

Willie Scott

HENDERSON -- Willie Gray Jackson Bowling Scott, 86, formerly of Henderson, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at her home in Carrollton, Texas.
Arrangements will be announced later by Flowers Funeral Home.

Hilda Edwards Stone

HENDERSON -- Hilda Edwards Stone , age 75 a resident of 1155 Bobbitt Rd. died Wednesday in the Warren Hills Nursing Home.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by J.M. White Funeral Home.

William E. Woodard

WARREN COUNTY -- William E. Woodard, of Warren County, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, due to injuries in an automobile accident. Arrangements will be announced later by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Donnell Wortham

GRANVILLE COUNTY -- Donnell Wortham, a native of Granville County, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, in New Jersey. He was the son of Ruby Wortham and the late Napolean Wortham.
Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Woody Home of Services in Orange, N.J. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Surviving are his wife, Marie F. Wortham; four daughters, Donna Wortham, Debra Andrews, Diane Etchison and Darlene Figucroa; two sons, Dwayne Wortham and David Wortham; mother, Ruby Wortham of Oxford; one sister, Barbara Bobbitt of Oxford; one brother, Cleveland Wortham of Oxford; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Local announcements are by Wright Funeral Home.

James Alexander Sr.
HENDERSON -- James Alexander Sr., of 507 Mayo St., died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Maria Parham Hospital. He was the son of the late Jimmy Lee and Elizabeth Alexander.
Surviving are five sons, James Alexander Jr. of Kittrell, John Henry Alexander, Robert Alexander, Michael Alexander, all of Henderson, Carol Alexander of Warrenton; four daughters, Annie Bell Terry, Carolyn Hines and Vianna Bullock, all of Henderson, and Ida Hicks of Kittrell; three sisters, Almedia Seward of Henderson, Eva Durham and Martha Hargrove of Drewey; 45 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Burchette Chapel U.C.C. by Pastor Alfred Perry, assisted by Bishop David Alston. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 168 Regina Lane, Williamsboro community, while the body will be at E.C. Terry’s Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Willie Allen, Clyde Wilson, Sean Alston, Zelton Macon, Alfred Perry, James Dunston, and William Magbie. Floralbearers will be Tracey Davis, Gloria Brown, Gloria Burwell, Cassandra Davis, Michelle Wilson, Debra Terry and Josephine Vereen.
Arrangements are by E.C. Terry’s Funeral Service.
