Denise B. Harp

HENDERSON -- Denise Boone Harp, 45, a resident of 198 Renn Lane, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 28, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital.
She was born in Amarillo, Texas, and was the daughter of Mary Kittrell Boone Parrish of Henderson and the late James Boone.
She attended South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will follow in the Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ cemetery.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband, Bruce Reid Harp; three sons, Justin Harp and Brant West, both of Henderson, and Robert Grissom of Rocky Mount; four brothers, Eugene Parrish, Larry Boone, Tony Boone and Dennis Boone, all of Henderson; her stepfather, Furman Parrish of Henderson; and her maternal grandmother, Mary Pender-grass Kittrell of Henderson.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Hartwell and Ann Harp, 1841 Garland St., Henderson, and at the home of Mary and Furman Parrish, 1768 N.C. 39 South.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Ronnie Lassiter, Dennie Ray Peoples, Chuck Ramsey, Joe Johnson, Steve Wiggins, Ernie Hope, Danny Lassiter and Jackie Peoples.
Arrangements are by the J.M. White Funeral Home.

Mary R. Hedgepeth

HENDERSON -- Mary Ramsey Hedgepeth, 84, formerly of 1409 Quail Run, Henderson, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital. She was a Vance County native and the daughter of the late Cleveland and Martha Catlett Ramsey. She was the widow of Grady Lee Hedgepeth.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Flowers Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Surviving are a son, Jerry Harris of San Diego; two sisters, Elma R. Smith and Estelle R. Adcock, both of Henderson; two brothers, Andy Ramsey of Henderson and Thurston Ramsey of Tampa, Fla.; three grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Flowers Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home of Andy Ramsey, 1516 Deer Crossing Court, Henderson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Donald Ramsey, Chuck Ramsey, Jerry Ramsey, Keith Adcock, Aaron Ramsey, Lowell “Pop” Smith Sr., Lowell Smith Jr., Herbert Forsythe, Billy Reams and Titus Vaughan.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Westwood Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, c/o Bill Lloyd, 1023 S. Chestnut St., Henderson, N.C. 27536.
Arrangements are by Flowers Funeral Home of Henderson.

Ralph Orr

HENDERSON -- Ralph Orr, 71, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, in a local nursing home. He was a Warren County native and the son of the late Goldie Orr.
He had attended City Road United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. today at Elmwood cemetery by the Rev. J. Hines Adams Sr.
The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to City Road United Methodist Church, c/o Allene Brummitt, P.O. Box 1212, Henderson, N.C. 27536.

Anastasia Theosanus

OXFORD -- Anastasia Theosanus, 88, of 86 Highland Ave., New York, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, in E.E. Toney Rest Home in Oxford.
Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home of Oxford will announce arrangements.

Earl N. Braswell

FRANKLINTON -- Earl Nathaniel Braswell, 79, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital in Henderson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pettiford Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Wadell Tapp. Burial will be in the Braswell family cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Lillie Morgan Braswell; three sons, Ray Braswell of Franklinton, Erwin Braswell of Louisburg and Gerald Braswell of Asheboro; a stepson, Efrim Braswell of Franklinton; one sister, Margorie B. Henderson of Chesapeake, Va.; one brother, James Braswell of Harrisburg, Pa.; and 17 grandchildren.
The body will lie in state from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home in Oxford.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 2024 W. Green St. (Highway 56).
Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Home of Oxford.

Hattie R. Carn

HENDERSON -- Hattie Roosevelt Carn, 73, of 329 E. Andrews Ave. died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Vencor Hospital in Greensboro. She was a Vance County native and the daughter of the late Josh Sidney Crudup and Christine Day. She was the widow of Ralph Edward Carn.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Garnes Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Jimmie Whitehurst. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church cemetery in Kittrell.
Surviving are two daughters, Diane Carn and Carolyn C. Myers; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Christine Gooch, Gladys Perry and Alveta McKnight.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Pallbearers and floral bearers will be relatives and friends.
Arrangements are by Garnes Funeral Services.

Michael A. Faulkner

OXFORD -- Michael A. Faulkner, 36, of 5613 Tabbs Creek Road died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Wake Medical Center.
Arrangements will be announced by Betts & Son Funeral Home.

Allie Harp

STEM -- Allie Marie McGee Harp, 71, of 3126 Old Route 75 died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Durham Regional Hospital. She was a Granville County native and the daughter of the late Walter and Erma Bowling McGee.
She was a member of Tally Ho First Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tally Ho First Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Oliver and the Rev. Terry Hall. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are her husband, Durward B. Harp; a daughter, Carol Marie Harp of Stem; four sons, Michael A. Harp Sr. and Kenny L. Harp, both of Creedmoor, Donald B. Harp of Manassas, Va., and D. Wayne Harp of Stem; four sisters, Elizabeth M. Currin, Lou Ellen M. Oakley, Sarah M. Shopshire, all of Oxford, and Marleene M. Ayers of Stokesdale; two brothers, Wade McGee of Goldsboro and Billy McGee of Roanoke Rapids; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and other times at the home.
Arrangements are by Eakes Funeral Home of Creedmoor.

Lula Jones

WARRENTON -- Lula Jones, 93, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at the K&G Family Care Home on Franklin Street.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at R.H. Greene Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Lawrence Harrison. Burial will follow in the Warrenton City cemetery.
Arrangements are by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Laura Paschall

HENDERSON -- Laura Paschall, 81, of Guardian Care died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall in Warrenton. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Manson.
Surviving are one daughter, Vernice Edwards of Manson; one brother, Douglas Hanks of Chester, Pa.; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Anastasia Theofanus

OXFORD -- Anastasia Theofanus, 88, of 86 Highland Ave., Walden, N.Y., died Wednesday, February 28, 2001, at E.E. Toney Rest home. She was a native of Nicosia, Cyprus.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday from Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Chapel by Father Paul Kaplanis. Burial will follow in Meadowview Memorial Park.
She is survived by her brother, Takis Chrysanthou and family of Cyprus; nephews Chris Chrysanthou and family of Raleigh, Harris Savides and family of New York City, N.Y.; her nieces Olga Polemitou and family of Washington, D.C., Mary Georgiou and family of Cyprus; and many other nieces and nephews of Cyprus.

Charles N. Ayscue Sr.

HENDERSON -- Charles Newcomb “Nucky” Ayscue, Sr., 65, of 81 Ayscue Lane, Henderson, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Born in Warren County, he was the son of Fannie Ayscue of Henderson and the late Buck Bryant Ayscue.
Mr. Ayscue was a retired tobacco farmer.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, at 2 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Aubrey Florence. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Barbara Ann Grissom Ayscue; three daughters, Debbie A. Riggan, and husband, Steve, of Rock Hill, S.C., Jean A. Guerrant, and husband, Jerry, of Henderson, and Sandy A. Coghilll, and husband, Archie, of Henderson; four sons, Gary W. Ayscue, Edward T. Ayscue, and wife, Bonnie, R. Glenn Ayscue, and wife, Sela, and Bobby R. Ayscue, all of Henderson; three sisters, Audrey A. Ayscue, and husband, Jack, Bonnie A. Spraggins, and husband, Ivery, and Dot A. Beckham, and husband, T.T., all of Henderson; twenty-one grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelia Faye Ayscue, and two sons, Charles N. “Buster Ayscue Jr., and Andy Lee Ayscue.
The family will receive friends today, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be B.J. Ayscue, Charles “Little Buster” Ayscue, Ronnie Ayscue, T.T. Beckham III, Jerry Spraggins, Derek Spraggins, Ricky Collie and Ronald Grissom, Jr.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church, 1017 Eastern Boulevard, Henderson, N.C. 27536.

Frances W. Capps

HENDERSON -- Frances Wrenn Capps, 84, of 3321 Old Watkins Road, Oxford, died Friday, March 2, 2001, in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Eunice Newton Wrenn.
Mrs. Capps was a retired supervisor with Continental Hosiery Company. She was a lifelong and very active member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Administrative Board and the Tuesday Morning Bible Study. She served as social secretary of the Open Door Sunday School Class, and was a past-president of the Rehoboth Methodist Women.
Funeral services will be held Monday, at 2 p.m., at Rehoboth United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Benjamin W. Rooker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are her husband of sixty-nine years, James Gilbert Capps; a daughter, Eunice C. May, and husband, Robert, of Oxford; a son, G. Maurice Capps, and wife, Addria “Puddin,” of Hickory, N.C.; four grandchildren, Tommy May, and wife, Kathy, of Oxford, and Diane M. Ennis, and husband, Jerry, Gil Capps, and Addria Capps, all of Charlotte; three great-grandchildren, Rob Stevens, and wife, Michelle, of Chesapeake, Va., and Thomas May and Allison May, both of Oxford; a sister, Lucy W. Stovall, of Oxford; and a brother, Frank T. Wrenn, and wife, Carrie, of Oxford. She was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin D. Wrenn.
The family will receive friends Sunday, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be F.T. Wrenn Jr., Larry Wrenn, John A. Wrenn Sr., M. Douglas Wrenn, Jerry E. Stovall, Justin M. Wrenn, John A. Wrenn Jr. and Frank T. Wrenn III.
Flowers are accepted, or memorials may be made to Rehoboth United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Barbara Burwell, 2205 Community House Road, Oxford, N.C. 27565.

Gladys L. Hawkins

HENDERSON -- Gladys Lyons Hawkins, 79, of 1607 Nicholas St. died at her residence. She was a Vance County native and the daughter of the late Jimmy and Harriett Hawkins Lyons.
She attended Vance County public schools and served in many activities. She was a member of the Young & Heart Club, Rainbow Club and Henderson chapter of Concerned Women for Justice Through Prison Ministry. She was a past member of the Gateway Board and a foster care mother.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Shiloh Baptist Church by the Rev. Joseph Ratliff, assisted by the Revs. William Brodie and Saint Silver. Burial will follow in the Blacknall cemetery.
Surviving are one son, Dallas R.J. Hawkins; one stepdaughter, Mary Frances Cummings; one sister, Iona McEleen; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The body will be on view until taken to the church one hour before the service.
Arrangements are by Mary Davis-Royster Funeral Service of Henderson.

Samuel Eaton

HENDERSON -- Samuel Eaton, 54, of 111 First Ave. died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital. He was a Warren County native and the son of the late Willie and Pattie Eaton.
He was educated in Vance County public schools.
He was a member of the Oak Level United Church of Christ, where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Leon White. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are a brother, Melvin Eaton of the home; five sisters, Doris Allen of Richmond, Va., Mable Ingram, Dorothy Lambert and Carrie Wimbush, all of Henderson, Catherine Hargrove of Middleburg and Alice Hargrove of Warrenton; two foster sisters, Carolyn Pettaway and Marie Henderson; and two foster brothers, Larry Eaton and Lamonte Eaton.
Pallbearers and floral bearers will be nephews and nieces, respectively.
The family will be at the home, 1694 Jacksontown Road.

Michael A. Faulkner

OXFORD -- Michael Anthony Faulkner I of 5613 Tabbs Creek Church Road died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Wake Medical Center. He was the son of Charlie and Dora Reed Faulkner.
He was a minister of music at Belton Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two daughters, Pamela L. Rogers of Oxford and Diamond J. Faulkner of Roxboro; four sons, Antwon C. Thornton of Fort Worth, Texas, Quinton Harris of Oxford, Branton J. Brodie of Wake Forest and Michael A. Faulkner II of the home; two brothers, George W. Faulkner and Bobby R. Faulkner, both of Oxford; three sisters, Edna Bishop of Pennsylvania, Peggy Faulkner of Oxford and Mary F. Thompson of the home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Matthew Baptist Church by the Rev. Anthony E. Cozart. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Betts & Son Funeral Home in Oxford.
Arrangements are by Betts & Son Funeral Home.

Dorothy L. Haskins

CHEVERLY, Md. -- Dorothy L. Haskins, 51, of Cheverly, formerly of Warren County, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at Prince George’s County Hospital in Cheverly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Russell Union Church in Oine. The Rev. Hezekiah Hendrick, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are four daughters, Maneka, Sherrita, Catunga and Robin; two sons, Robert Jr. and Zelvin; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Yvonne Griggs, Sandra Epps and Shelia Haskins; and three brothers, the Rev. Melvin Haskins, Shelby and Christian.
Arrangements are by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Harry B. House Sr.

HENDERSON -- Harry Bruce House Sr., age 52, a resident of 124 Shadowbrook Drive in the Hunter’s Ridge subdivision, died Friday night, March 2, 2001, at his home. He was a native of Vance County and was the son of the late Clarence Benjamin and Ida Belle Clopton House.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietname War, and he received a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and a Commendation Medal. He was a retired refrigeration specialist at Kennametal Corp., where he had worked for 20 years.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens with military honors.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Stewart-House; two sons, Harry Bruce House Jr. and Kevin Harrison Ayscue, both of Henderson; one daughter, Dana Ayscue Macdonald of Tampa, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Sam Cooper, Larry Reavis, Lawrence Hilliard, Phillip Hight, Gary Overton and Randall Gupton.
Arrangements are by the J.M. White Funeral Home.
