WARRENTON -- Marie P. Jones, 104, of Warrenton died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at the Warren Hills Nursing Facilities in Warrenton.

Minnie Perry
DURHAM -- Minnie Perry, 91, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Carver Living Center in Durham. She was a native of Kittrell and the daughter of the late Anna Pettiford Pearce and John Pearce.
At an early age, she joined St. Joseph A.M.E. Zion Church, later moving her membership to the Only Way Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Only Way Church of Christ by Bishop Clinton Winston. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are two daughters, Lucy Henderson of Kittrell and Catherine Simmons of Trenton, N.J.; one son, James Perry of Oxford; two sisters, Emma Massenburg of Durham and Jessie B. Norman of Hillsborough; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and other times at the home of Lucy Henderson, 4540-A Gray Rock Road, Kittrell.
Arrangements are by Allen’s Home of Funerals in Oxford.
Roseanna M. Pettaway
HENDERSON -- Roseanna Manning Pettaway, 85, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Guardian Care Center in Henderson. She was a Warren County native, the daughter of the late Thomas and Rose Henderson Manning and the widow of Lawyer R. Pettaway.
At an early age, she joined the Oak Level United Church of Christ, where she was a member of the Missionary Circle and mother of the church until her health declined.
Surviving are six daughters, Nannie Beatrice Jamison and Darlene Pettaway, both of Raleigh, Viola Chapman of New York, Mary Rose Pettaway and Anna Lemay, both of the Bronx, N.Y., and Susie Pettaway of Kissimmee, Fla.; six sons, Leroy Pettaway of the Bronx, Vernell Pettaway and Ervin Pettaway, both of Manson, Otis Pettaway of Henderson, Victor Wayne Pettaway of Kittrell, and Michael Pettaway of Jacksonville, Fla.; 33 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Earnest Manning of Manson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Oak Level United Church of Christ by the Rev. Leon White, assisted by the Revs. James Pettaway and John Durham and Minister John E. Jefferson. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. The body will be at E.C. Terry’s Funeral Service until taken to the church.
The family will receive friends at the home on Manson Road in Manson.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Floral bearers will be granddaughters.

Dana B. Robinson
HENDERSON -- Dana B. Robinson, 35, of 1965 Cheatham Mabry Road died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at her residence. She was a native of Queens, N.Y.
She was an employee of Polk Youth Center and a member of New Life Church of God in Christ.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at New Life Church of God in Christ by Elder Myron Henderson. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens.
Surviving are five children, Toni Taylor, Travis Taylor, Taril Taylor, Tariq Taylor and Tyler Taylor, all of the home; her mother, Elizabeth K. Robinson of Jamaica, N.Y.; three sisters, Deborah R. Grayson of Georgetown, S.C., Donna R. Bills of Henderson and Denise R. Thompson of Jamaica, N.Y.; and two brothers, David Robinson of Owings Mills, Md., and Derek Davis of Jamaica, N.Y.
The family will receive visitors from 7 to 8 tonight at Wright Funeral Home of Henderson and other times at the residence of Sylvester and Donna Bills, 1826 Cheatham Mabry Road.
The body will lie in state at Wright Funeral Home starting at 11 a.m. today.

Anthony J.A. Taylor
HENDERSON -- Anthony “Tony” John Archibold Taylor, 37, of 1965 Cheatham Mabry Road died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at his residence. He was a native of the republic of Panama, the son of Frank L. Taylor and Catherine V. Archibold and the stepson of Marlyn Taylor and Rosa I. Rodell.
Viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Garnes Funeral Chapel.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his children, Toni Taylor, Travis Taylor, Tariq Taylor, Taril Taylor, Tyler Taylor, Taneyah Berkley and Yasmine Wardick; three sisters, Jacqueline Charles, Yvonne N. Taylor and Yvette N. Taylor-Porter; and two brothers, James Charles and Jayson Monroe.

Arnetra D. Johnson
WARRENTON -- Arnetra Dowtin Johnson of Henderson died Friday, March 16, 2001, at her home on Booth Avenue.
She worked 31 years as a science teacher in the Warren County school system. She also was a trustee of Locust Grove Baptist Church and president of the WCTS/NWHS Alumni Association.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Locust Grove Baptist Church of Wise, under the direction of the Rev. James M. Johnson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Leonard F. Johnson of Henderson; two daughters, Sondra Jenkins of Detroit and Fran Bussey of Henderson; two sons, Eric Johnson of Utica, Ill., and Keith Johnson of Henderson; five sisters, Janet Randolph of Washington, Louise Price of Henderson, and Mary Davis, Helen Robertson and Connie Williams, all of Wise; one brother, Paul Plummer Jr. of Wise; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton.

HENDERSON -- Mary Louise Funderburk Parrish, 54, of 100 Kelly Road died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital.

Marian H. Peoples
GOLDSBORO -- Marian Harrison Peoples, 79, of 2502 Peachtree St. died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Oxford and the daughter of the late George Robert Harrison and Maggie Macon Harrison.
She attended the Women’s College University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, was active in the Episcopal Women of the church and was a member of the Retired Officers Wives Club at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Frank Russ officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. at Elmwood cemetery in Oxford.
Surviving are her husband, Lewis J. “Jack” Peoples Sr.; two sons, Lewis “Jack” Peoples Jr. of Wilmington and George R. “Bob” Peoples of Chapel Hill; one daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Harrison Peoples of Newport News, Va.; one sister, Joyce Harrison Dixon of Mooresville; and two grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 200 N. James St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Seymour Funeral Home and after the memorial service at the church.

HENDERSON -- Edgar Green Brame, age 76, a resident of 1085 S. Cokesbury Road, died Monday afternoon at his home.

OXFORD -- Wilbur Bernard Clark, 75, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisc. He was a Granville County native.
He was a graduate of the Joe Toler High School and a veteran of the United States Army.
Surviving are one sister, Beulah C. Overby of Oxford; and one brother, MacBuford Clark of Oxford.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at Betts & Son Chapel by the Rev. Robert E. Page. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the new Johnathan Creek Church cemetery.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Mary Etta Hobgood, 68, of 131 Columbia St., Apt. B-2, Brooklyn, N.Y., died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn.
She was a Granville County native and attended the Granville County Schools.
Surviving are one brother, James R. Hobgood of Oxford; and one sister, Ann Wrenn of Lynchburg, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion Holy Church by the Rev. Patrick Jackson. Burial will be announced later.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the funeral at the church and other times at the home of her brother, 204 Easy St.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary Eliza Kearney of Warrenton, Willie Marie Alston and Mildred Tucker, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; one son, John W. Jones of Warrenton; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 39 great-great-grandchildren.

HENDERSON -- Mary Louise Funderburk Parrish, 54, of 100 Kelly Road, Henderson, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital. She was a native of Pensacola, Fla., and the daughter of Margaret Blackmon Funderburk of Woodbridge, Va., and the late Bernard Funderburk.
She was a homemaker and a member of The Lord’s Victorious Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Eastside Baptist Church by the Rev. Aubrey Florence. Burial will follow in Liberty Vance United Church of Christ cemetery.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, John Henry “J.H.” Parrish; two sons, Bernard Stanley Parrish of New Bern, and John Henry Parrish Jr. of Henderson; four brothers, Bill Funderburk and Bob Funderburk, both of Woodbridge, Va., Roger Funderburk of Germany and Henry Funderburk of Texas; and two grandchildren.
The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home of Wendy Harris, 1520 Dabney Road, Henderson.

KITTRELL -- Mary Lee Hight Pulley, age 97, a former resident of 120 Smith Street, died Sunday evening in a local nursing home.
She was a native of Vance County and was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Hattie Sims Hight. She was a homemaker and was the widow of Melvin Burley Pulley. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tony Peed. Burial will follow in the Oakridge Baptist Church cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Josephine P. Moss of Kittrell and Marie P. Jones of Wilson; one son, Benjamin Linwood Pulley of Kittrell; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Louis Elmo Pulley.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Linwood and Nell Pulley at 120 Smith Street, Kittrell.
Serving as active pall bearers will be her grandsons, Benny Pulley, Danny Pulley, Gary Pulley, Grady Moss, Mike Jones, and Mack Jones.

DURHAM -- Catherine Allen Thorpe, 59, of 2146 Charles St., Apt. 49, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at home. She was a native of Creedmoor and the daughter of the late Lonnie G. and Annie Mae Bullock Allen.
She worked as a health technician at the Murdoch Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Greater Joy Baptist Church, 717 Hardee St., by the Rev. James Daniel. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Rock Spring Baptist Church cemetery.
Family visitation wil be held one hour prior to the service.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Fisher Funeral Parlor.
Surviving are her daughter, Katrina Harris; sons, Robert Thorpe, Dexter Thorpe, Desmond Thorpe and Travis Thorpe; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mary A. Nicholson; stepmother, Minnie Allen; stepbrothers, Phillip Allen, Lonnie Allen, Tydal Allen and Bobby Allen.
