HENDERSON -- Omega Jones of 604 Arch St. died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at his residence.
Arrangements will be announced by Garnes Funeral Services.

Mable B. Mason

MACON -- Mable Banks Mason, 56, of Macon died Saturday, May 19, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital in Henderson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Coley Springs Baptist Church in the Afton community. The Rev. Carson Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Macon.
Surviving are one son, Vincent Mason of Norfolk, Va.; one daughter, Katrina Mason Gomez of Laurel, Md.; one brother, William Roscoe Banks of Macon; and one sister, Rosa Milam of Warrenton.
Arrangements are by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

John McFadden

HENDERSON -- John McFadden, 79, of 316 Arch St. died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital.
The family will be at the home. Garnes Funeral Services will announce arrangements.

William G. “Billy” Minor

OXFORD -- William G. “Billy” Minor, 69, of 1523 College St. died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
He was a Granville County native and the son of the late Hughie and Annie Mae Roberts Minor.
He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and a retired supervisor at New Southern Finishing and Dyeing.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Chapel by the Revs. Ann Sims and Lee Pittard.
Burial will follow in Meadowview Memorial Park.
Surviving are his wife, Julia Minor of the home; one daughter, Jane Minor of Oxford; two sisters, Ruby Minor Mangum of Rougemont and Betty Jean Adcock of Oxford; and two grandchildren.
Flowers are accepted, or memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Granville County Unit, P.O. Box 2636, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27515; to the Salem United Methodist Church, 302 Forest Road, Oxford, N.C. 27565; or to the Shriners’ Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 669, Oxford, N.C. 27565.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the family home.
Arrangements are by Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home of Oxford.

Frances T. Seward

WARRENTON -- Frances Taylor Seward of Magnolia Gardens in Warrenton died Wednesday, May 23, 2001.
Arrangements are by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Robert E. Stewardson

HENDERSON -- Robert Early “Bob” Stewardson, age 69, a resident of 104 Country Club Drive, died Wednesday afternoon at his home. He was a native of Richmond, Virginia, and was the son of the late Harry Falsome and Mary Elizabeth Childress Stewardson.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. He was the owner of Kid’s World Day Care, a real estate Investor, and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held Friday night at 6 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church by the Rev. Charles M. Cook.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Mitchell Stewardson of the home; two daughters, Dana Bess Stewardson of Henderson and Cynthia S. Sellars of Sevierville, Tennessee; three sons, Joseph Bryan Stewardson of Atlanta, Georgia, Robert Ashley Stewardson and Jason Levy Stewardson, both of Henderson; one sister, Violet S. Mathis of Valdosta, Georgia; one brother, James B. Stewardson of Richmond, Virginia; two grandchildren, Matthew Aaron Ward and Robert Mason Stewardson.
Serving as pallbearers will be P. Delmus Bridgers, John M. Foster, Wallace G. Cawthorne, Hal Q. Bittick, Dennis M. Renn, Joseph L. Fleming, Christopher B. Stewardson, Dr. Rodwell Drake and Bolton W. Jones Jr.
The family will receive friends Thursday and Friday and immediately following the service at the home at 104 Country Club Drive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Garnett Street, Henderson, N.C. 27536; Friends of Hospice, P.O. Box 2596, Henderson, N.C. 27536; or the Vance County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, c/o Miss Frances Polston, 1611 Parker Lane, Henderson, N.C. 27536.

Dorothy A.J. Turner

NEWARK, N.J. -- Dorothy Ann Judkins Turner, 83, of Newark, formerly of Warrenton, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, in Newark.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday at Cooks Chapel Baptist Church in the Warren Plains community of Warrenton. The Rev. Robert Burnette will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Stephen Baptist Church cemetery in the Inez community.
Surviving are three daughters, Joyce Moore of West Orange, N.J., Evelyn Turner of the Bronx, N.Y., and Shannon Turner-Porter of New Rochelle, N.Y.; two sons, Saleem Sareem (William) of Newark, N.J., and David Turner of Durham; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Evelyn Judkins DeLillye, Mary Ann Johnson, Elaine Wilson, Lovetta Tucker and Geneva Stewart.
The body will be on view today at Boyd’s Funeral Services until taken to the church one hour before the services.
Arrangements are by Boyd’s Funeral Services of Warrenton.

Delbert Baskerville

WARRENTON -- Delbert Baskerville, 95, of the Wise community died Monday, May 21, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Locust Grove Baptist Church in Wise. The Rev. James Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are two sons, Delbert Alvin Jr. of Plantation, Fla., and Otis Benjamine of Charlotte; one sister, Lillian B. Alexander of Palmer Springs, Va.; and two grandsons.
Arrangements are by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Eddie Bullock

MANSON -- Eddie Bullock, 70, of Manson died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Duke Medical Center in Durham.
Arrangements are by Boyd’s Funeral Services of Warrenton.

Rev. Frank Bullock Jr.

SPRING HOPE -- The Rev. Frank Bullock Jr., 74, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001.
He was a senior pastor of the St. Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Spring Hope.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Pettiford family cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Ivelia Pettiford Bullock; two daughters, Gail Jenkins of Temple Hill, Md., and Chrystle Swain of Georgetown, Texas; a son, Frank Bullock III of Henderson; a sister, Mable Burwell of Norfolk, Va.; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at William Toney Funeral Home in Spring Hope.
Arrangements are William Toney Funeral Home of Spring Hope.

Mary ‘Ladyvan’ Bullock

WARRENTON -- Mary “Ladyvan” Bullock, 90, of Warrenton died Saturday, May 19, 2001, at Warren Hills Nursing Center in Warrenton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Solid Rock Faith Ministries in Warrenton. The Rev. Moore H. Bynum, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are one son, Frankie Bullock Sr. of the home; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton.
Arrangements are by Boyd’s Funeral Services of Warrenton.

John McFadden Sr.

HENDERSON -- John McFadden Sr., 79, of 316 Arch St. died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital. He was a native of Mullen, S.C., and the son of the late Charlie McFadden and Amelia McFadden.
He was an employee of Burkart Industries for more than 40 years, working as a plant mechanic.
He was a member of Spring Street Baptist Church, where he served as an usher.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Spring Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Chad Armstrong. Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery.
Surviving are his fiancee, Thelma Sykes Evans; one sister, Blanche Hill; four sons, John McFadden Jr., James McFadden Sr., James McFadden Evans and Charlie McFadden Evans; three daughters, Willie Mae Foster, Annie Gay Lawerence and Alverta Branche; 22 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Pallbearers will be friends of Spring Street Baptist Church. Floral bearers will be the same.
Arrangements are by Garnes Funeral Services.

Robert W. Murphy

HENDERSON -- Robert Willard Murphy, 75, of 879 Carey Chapel Road died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital. He was a Vance County native and the son of the late Ed Louis and Mary Wortham Murphy. He was the widower of Hattie Stroud Murphy.
He was a retired section leader with Harriet & Henderson Yarns Inc. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Flowers Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Timothy J. Burgess. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy M. Puckett of Henderson; four brothers, Eddie Murphy and Johnny Murphy, both of Henderson, and Al Murphy and Billy Murphy, both of Akron, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9 tonight at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Charles Jones, Richard Jones, Bud Wortham, Dennis Murphy, Glen Wilkins, Bunky Ayscue, Charles Puckett and Chris Jones.
Flowers are accepted, or memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 647, Henderson, N.C. 27536.

WARRENTON -- Annie Palmer of the Jordan Hill community in Warrenton died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at her residence.
Arrangements will be by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Julia Perry

WARRENTON -- Julia Perry, 82, of the Inez community in Warrenton died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Franklin Regional Medical Center in Louisburg.
Arrangements are by Boyd’s Funeral Services of Warrenton.

Elizabeth V. Andrews

WARRENTON -- Elizabeth Vaughan Andrews, 85, of Warrenton died Friday, May 25, 2001, at Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, Va.
She was born in Vance County, N.C., to the late John Thomas Vaughan and Lelia Hight Vaughan. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Andrews, and a son, Charles D. Andrews.
Mrs. Andrews was a member of the Warrenton Baptist Church.
She is survived by: two sisters, Mrs. Faye V. Breedlove of Middleburg and Mrs. Virginia V. Aycock of Warrenton; one brother, Mr. Alvin T. Vaughan of Henderson; four grandchildren, Allison A. Arcaro of Phoenix, Arizona, Heather A. Montgomery of New Jersey, Robert S. Andrews of Norfolk, Va., Ashley Andrews of Norfolk, Va.; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Davy Mayo on Monday, May 28, 2001, at the Norlina Gospel Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Fairview cemetery in Warrenton.
The family will meet friends at Blaylock Funeral Home on Sunday from 7-9 p.m.

James H. Jefferson Sr.

HENDERSON -- James Howard Jefferson Sr., 48, of 1025 Thomas Road in the Williamsboro community died Friday, May 25, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Arrangements will be announced by Mary Davis-Royster Funeral Services.

Omega Jones Sr.

HENDERSON -- Omega “Bro Jones” Jones Sr., 81, of 604 Arch St. died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at his residence. He was a Vance County native and the son of the late Ben and Cora Harris Jones.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
He was educated in the Vance County public school system and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where he served on the deacon board. He later moved his membership to Progressive Faith Missionary Baptist Church, where he was one of the founders of the church and a member of the deacon board. He was an employee of Burkart Industries, where he was a shop steward.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Progressive Faith Baptist Church by the Revs. Douglas Judkins, Jamil Crosson and Brenda G. Peace and Minister Kenneth Williams. Burial will follow in Blacknall cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, the Rev. Addie Lee P. Jones; three daughters, Mary J. Williams and the Rev. Cora A. Jones, both of Henderson, and Elizabeth R. Harris of Durham; four sons, Omega Jones Jr. of Warrenton, Stanley N. Jones and Billy Boone of Henderson, and Roy A. Jones of Durham; two sisters, Mary J. Parson and Ozella J. Vass, both of Henderson; 25 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be deacons and trustees of Progressive Faith Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of New Bethel Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Progressive Faith and all other times at the home.
Arrangements are by Garnes Funeral Services.

Edgerton Plummer

RIDGEWAY -- Edgerton Plummer, 58, of Ridgeway died Friday, May 25, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital.
Arrangements will be announced by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Frances T. Seward

WARRENTON -- Frances Taylor Seward, 95, of Magnolia Gardens died Wednesday, May 23, 2001.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at R.H. Greene Funeral Home Chapel in Warrenton. The Rev. Charlie Leath will officiate.
Surviving are one daughter, Edith H. Burchette of Manson; one son, Spencer Washington of Ridgeway; one sister, Carrie T. Champ of Ridgeway; two brothers, Lonnie Taylor of New Jersey and Sidney Taylor of Warrenton; 21 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Annie I. Taylor

HENDERSON -- Annie Mae Inscoe Taylor, 79, of 491 Abbott Road died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital. She was a Wake County native and the daughter of the late Herbert and Jessie Harp Inscoe.
She was a homemaker. She attended South Henderson Church of God and South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Flowers Funeral Chapel by the Revs. William Wagner and Gary Harper. Burial will follow in Union Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Ralph Kittrell Taylor; three daughters, Louise T. Pendergrass, Shirley T. Duke and Beverly T. Faulkner, all of Henderson; a son, Charlie Lee Taylor of Henderson; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home of Raymond and Louise Pendergrass, 491 Abbott Road in Henderson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be James Pendergrass, Jerry Pendergrass, Scott Simms, Tim Pendergrass, Robert Overby, James Nelson Roberson, Mike Pendergrass and Charlie Powers.
Arrangements are by Flowers Funeral Home of Henderson.
