OXFORD -- Alex Santana, infant son of Alejandro and Teresa Arenas Santana of 205 McClanahan St., Apartment A, died March 12, 2002, in Granville Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday in the St. James Catholic Church by the Rev. J. William Long and the Rev. Henry McGovern. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are paternal grandfather Fillimon Santana of Oxford; paternal grandmother Beatrice Guadalupe of Mexico; and maternal grandfather Marciano Arenas of Mexico. He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother Adolfina Leon.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at the J.M. White Funeral Home in Henderson.

Leslie E. Sexton

CREEDMOOR -- Leslie Erin Sexton, 17, of 4064 Hugh Davis Road, Youngsville, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, in an auto accident. She was a native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and the daughter of Glenn A. and Doreen Messier Sexton.
She was a member of Banks United Methodist Church and a senior at South Granville High School.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Banks United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jack Synder. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving, other than her parents, are a sister, Shannon Sexton of the home; a brother, Jason A. Sexton of the home; and her paternal grandmother, Claire Spalding of California.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and other times at the home.
Arrangements are by Eakes Funeral Home of Creedmoor.

Crawford B. Frazier

WARRENTON -- Crawford Boyd Frazier, 78, of Rt. 1, Warrenton, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Maria Parham Hospital. He was a Warren County native and the son of the late Robert Herring Frazier and Helen C. Frazier.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Warren Plains Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Warren Plains Baptist Church by the Revs. Lee Joyner and Robert Oliver. Burial will follow in Greenwood cemetery in Macon.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Daniel Frazier; one son, Crandel Boyd Frazier of Warrenton; one daughter, Connie Frazier Newcomb of Oxford; three sisters, Essie Seamter of Oxford, Gladys Bolton of Warrenton and Martha Akery of Richmond; one brother, Robert Frazier of Warren Plains; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Charles Edmonds, Jimmy Carroll, David Lynch, Glenn Riggan, Heath Frazier, Gary Daniel, Albert Lynch, R.M. Harris and Leslie Banks.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Warren Plains Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Blaylock Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Wyatt Graham Evans

HENDERSON -- Wyatt Graham Evans, age 85, a resident of 565 S. Cooper Drive, died Monday in a local nursing home.
He was a native of Granville County and was the son of the late Willie and Emma Currin Evans. He was a retired residential painter, and was a member of the Harriett Baptist.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Ronnie Faircloth and Leon Gupton. Burial will follow at Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Pace Evans, of the home; one daughter, Brenda E. Patterson and husband, J.T., of Clayton; two sons, Jasper Ray Evans, Sr. and wife, Bonnie, of Henderson; and Larry G. Evans of Fuquay-Varina; one sister, Mary Alice Evans Tharrington of Rocky Mount; five grandchildren, Dennis T. Patterson, Jasper Evans Jr., Emily Michelle Evans, Wesley Brian Evans, and Kelly Lynn Evans; one great-grandson, Garrett Patterson; and many devoted nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Kenneth L. Patterson.
The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Allen Grissom, Charles Faulkner, George Stanley, Tommy Pace, Henry Williamson, and Phillip Jenkins.
Arrangements are by the J.M. White Funeral Home.

Frank Hutchinson

HENDERSON -- Frank Hutchinson, 83, of the Williamsboro community, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at Maria Parham Hospital.
The family will receive friends at 299 Island Creek Estate. Arrangements are pending with the Mary Davis-Royster Funeral Service.

Ellen M. Liggon

HENDERSON -- Ellen Murphy “O.T.” Liggon, age 77, a resident of Britthaven Nursing Home, died Tuesday morning at Britthaven Nursing Home.
She was a native of Vance County, daughter of the late Isaiah Hampton and Eliza Hix Breedlove Murphy, and the widow of Thurston R. Liggon. She was a retired waitress at Rose’s Luncheonette.
She was a member of the White Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women, a former choir member, and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the White Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jack Jenkins. Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Kaye L. Pegram and husband, Joe, of Henderson; one son, Robin K. Liggon and wife, Cynthia, of Oxford; four grandchildren, Machelle F. Thomas and husband, Jason, Eric S. Hendricks, Amber M. Liggon, and Christopher R. Liggon; and three step-grandchildren, Lee Pegram, Carrie Pegram, and Cody Pegram.
The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7 until 8:30 P.M. at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Joe and Kaye Pegram at 2539 N.C. Highway 39 South.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Jeff Dickerson, Marty Ayscue, Ronnie Currin, Conrad Hock, Brad Abbott, Mike Fisher, Steve Wilson, and Lawrence Hendricks.
Arrangements are by the J.M. White Funeral Home.

Cheatham Daniel Mabry Jr.

WILSON — C.D. Mabry, Jr., age 75, a resident of 1200 Courtland Drive, died Tuesday morning at Britthaven Nursing Home.
A native of Vance County, he was the son of the late Cheatham Daniel Mabry, Sr. and Sarah Felts Mabry. He was a Veteran of the Army serving during World War II, and was awarded the Bronze Star for serving in Central Europe.
Mr. Mabry attended Atlantic Christian College and was a graduate of Henderson Business College. He was a retired Accountant with Universal Leaf Tobacco Company and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wilson for many years. He was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award by the Wilson Rotary Club, and a was a past member of the Wilson Lion’s Club. C.D. was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing when he was active.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Sunset Gardens in Henderson by Dr. Doug Murray and the Rev. Bill Bussey.
Survivors include his beloved Katherine Hamm Mabry, whom he married November 15, 1947; two daughters, Brenda Mabry Bailey and husband, Larry of Anderson, South Carolina, and Faye Mabry Denny of Wilson; four grandchildren, Sarah Rayonelle Denny, John Trevor Denny, Larry Douglas Bailey, Jr., and wife, Jennifer, and Katherine Danielle Bailey; and three great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the J. M. White Funeral Home in Henderson.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 311 W. Nash Street, Wilson, N.C. 27893, or to Britthaven Nursing Home Employee Recognition Fund, 403 Crestview Avenue, Wilson, N.C. 27893.
Arrangements are by the J.M. White Funeral Home of Henderson.

Clark E. Chandler

BUTNER -- Clark E. Chandler, 53, of 608 24th St., died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Triangle Hospice at the Meadowlands in Hillsborough.
He was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. He was a real estate agent and a veteran.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wright Funeral Chapel in Oxford by the Rev. Adolphus Smith. Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Park.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Tharrington Chandler; three sons, Freddie Chavis of Henderson, James Lewis of Morristown, N.J., and Cornell Russell of Fuquay-Varina; two daughters, Sheila Brody of Oxford and Deborah Lewis of Durham; and one brother, James Chandler of Oxford.
The family will receive visitors from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wright Funeral Home in Oxford.
Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Home Inc.

Richard Faines

HOLLIS, N.Y. -- Richard “Bro” Faines, 72, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, in Hollis, N.Y.
The family will be at the home of Bessie Thompson, 314 Thomas Road, Henderson.
Arrangements will be announced later by Garnes Funeral Service Inc.

Imani J. Jones

HENDERSON -- Imani Janee Jones, 4 month daughter of Quincey Jones and Vanessa Ayscue of 109 Holly Court, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Maria Parham Hospital.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Kittrell Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Jimmy Whitehurst.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are two brothers, Adante Ayscue and Joshua Jones, both of the home; her maternal grandparents, Vernice and Neal Wilson of Williamsboro, and Jimmy and Mae Ayscue, both of Middleburg; and paternal grandmother, Dorothy Jones of Kittrell.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at E.C. Terry’s Funeral Service and other times at the residence.

Clifton M. Long Sr.

HENDERSON -- Clifton Marshall Long, Sr., age 74, a resident of 66 Epsom-Rocky Ford Road, died Monday morning at Maria Parham Hospital. He was a native of Vance County and was the son of the late Johnnie and Annie Collie Long, and was the widower of Agnes Dickie Long.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War, and was a member of American Legion Post No: 60. He was a former employee of the former George W. Kane Construction Co. and Vance Construction Company. He was also a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Franklin County.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at the New Bethel Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Tom Denny.
He is survived by two sons, David W. Long of Henderson and Clifton Marshall Long Jr. ofNorth Wilkesboro; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at New Bethel Church. At other times they will be at the home of David W. Long ,2429 Rock Mill Road, Henderson.
Arrangements are by the J. M. White Funeral Home.

Lawrence Moss

WARREN COUNTY -- Lawrence Moss, 79, of Warren County, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at the Veteran’s Hospital in Durham.
Arrangements will be announced later by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Hubert Palmer

HENDERSON -- Hubert Franklin Palmer, age 85, a resident of 225 Bellewood Drive, died Monday, January 14, 2002 at his home.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Richard Brand. The family will receive friends at the home on Bellwood Drive.
Other arrangements will be announced by the J.M. White Funeral Home.

William F. Rose

OXFORD -- William F. “Bill” Rose, 76, of 319 N. Railroad St., Stovall, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at V.A. Medical Center in Durham. He was a native of Arkansas but lived in Granville County for the past 22 years. He was a carpenter by trade.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Meadowview Memorial Park by Michael Coats.
Surviving are his wife, Eva Sharon Rose of the home; two daughters, Lupe Rose and Edna Rose, both of Los Angles; a son, William F. Rose Jr. of Los Angles; one stepdaughter, Bonnie V. Loyd of Oxford; and several grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and other times at the home.
Arrangements are by Eakes Funeral Home Inc.

Gene Alexander Sr.

HENDERSON -- Gene Alexander Sr., 80, of 329 W. Andrews Ave. died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at his residence. He was a native of Myrica and the son of the late Emmitt Alexander and Mary Cozart Alexander.
He was a veteran of the U.S. armed forces, serving in World War II. During his term in the military, he received a Victory Medal. He was the widower of Bessie Mitchell Alexander.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Andrews United Church of Christ by the Rev. Jerome Taylor. Interment will follow.
Surviving are one daughter, Maxine Alexander Miller of Kittrell; two sons, Robert Alexander of Brooklyn, N.Y., and William "Bud" Alexander of Henderson; one stepdaughter, Alma Jane Mitchell of Henderson; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of Maxine Miller, 334 Buffalo Creek Lane, Kittrell.
Arrangements are by Garnes Funeral Services.

Dorothy S. Barnes

OXFORD -- Dorothy Saunders Barnes, 81, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Oxford Manor. She was a Granville County native and the daughter of the late G.C. Saunders Sr. and Mattie Roberson Saunders.
She was retired as a clerk with CVS and a member of Tabbs Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Tabbs Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Jeremy Stirm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are one daughter, Jean Coley Critcher of Oxford; one son, James Grover "Pete" Coley of Pasadena, Md.; one sister, Hilda Saunders Pruitt of Southern Pines; one brother, Grover Saunders of Oxford; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation for the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home, 503 College St., and other times at the home of Jean and Darius C. Critcher Jr., 117 Critcher Road in Oxford.

Elizabeth M. Bradley

HENDERSON -- Elizabeth Frances Miller Bradley, age 79, a resident of 539 Club Pond Rd., died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Maria Parham Hospital. She was a native of Vance County and was the daughter of the late Lawrence Miller and Effie Harris Grissom. She was a retired beautician and was a member of the Most Blessed Sacred Catholic Church in Philadelphia, Pa.
She is survived by four nieces, Delores Hendricks, Paula Kearney and Shelia Breedlove of Henderson, and Carolyn Ayscue of Brandywine, Maryland, and one nephew, Dennis Satterwhite of Henderson. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Miller Satterwhite.
Memorial service arrangements will be announced later.
Arrangements are by the J.M. White Funeral Home.

James L. Caudle

HENDERSON - James Lewis Caudle, 84, of 3000 Flemingtown Road died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, in Franklin Regional Medical Center. Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Willie Lorenza Caudle and Mannie Turner Caudle.
He was a retired truck driver with E.G. Bowles Construction.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He attended Tabernacle Baptist Church and the men's Sunday school class.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Abidan Shah. Burial will follow in Rockspring Baptist Church cemetery.
Surviving are three daughters, Garey C. Wester of Henderson, Louise C. Crisp of Centerville and Carol C. Cox of Hookerton; two sons, Duane Caudle of Gainesville, Tenn., and David Caudle of Glen Allen, Va.; a sister, Helen C. Taylor of Petersburg, Va.; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home of Nelson and Garey Wester, 3000 Flemingtown Road, Henderson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Matthew Cox, Michael Cox, Mark Hubbard, Duane Caudle, Eddie Caudle, Byron Wester, Casey Crisp, John Wester, Aaron Holland, Joshua Hubbard and Dusty Caudle.
Flowers Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Nora A.R. Burwell

RICHMOND -- Nora Alice Rainey Burwell, 71, of Richmond, Va., died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond. She was a Vance County native and the daughter of the late Walter C. Rainey and Willie Anna Rainey. She was the widow of Edward G. Burwell.
She was educated in the Vance County public schools system and was a retired employee of Burke's Rehabilitation Foundation in White Plains, N.Y., after 30 years of service. She was also a member of Tents of White Plains, N.Y.
She was a member of Hargrove's Chapel Methodist Church where the funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Donnie L. Jones. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Y. Thomas of Elmsford, N.Y., Brenda F. Burwell of Richmond, Va.; four sons, Sterling of Manhattan, N.Y., Anthony of Easton, Md., Tyrone and Terrence of White Plains, N.Y.; one sister, Edna Hargrove of Richmond, Va.; two brothers, Walter Rainey of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Thomas Rainey of Peeksville, N.Y.; and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Garnes Funeral Chapel and all other times at 920 Patton Circle.
Arrangements are by Garnes Funeral Services.
