Funeral arrangements will be announced by Ebony and White's Funeral Service.

Marion Wilson
BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mrs. Marion Hart Wilson, 71, of 871 N. Mountain St., died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Dennis Funderburk, Warren Manning, Thelma Gardner and Robert Bolin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family received friends Saturday at Foster Funeral Home.

Nick Stanley
SHELBY - Mr. Arvol "Nick" Stanley, 88, of White Oak Manor, formerly of Shelby Manor, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

Arthur Hoey
SHELBY - Mr. Arthur Edward Hoey, 70, of 2320 Mason St., died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Civista Medical Center in LaPlata, Md.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Enloe's Mortuary.

Maggie Runyan
CLOVER, S.C. - Mrs. Maggie Elizabeth Carrol Runyan, 94, of 243 Clintwood Drive died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Gordon Mortuary, Blacksburg, S.C., with Helen Alexander and Sherry Drews officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Family members received friends Saturday at the mortuary and at other times will be at their homes.

Vera Kiser
CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Vera Inez Stroupe Kiser, 92, of 1070 Sellerstown Road, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Brian's Center in Lincoln-ton.
A native of Gaston County, she was born Sept. 4, 1909, the daughter of the late Bert and Sudie Wacaster Stroupe. She graduated in 1929 from Piedmont High School in Lawndale and was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Cherryville. On April 29, 1927, she married the Rev. Amos M. Kiser Sr. and was a member of organizations and participated in activities at each of the churches he pastored.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Amos M. Kiser Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Mary Yarboro Kiser; and a daughter, Mary Kiser Morin.
She is survived by a daughter, Martha Kiser Hinson of Rock Hill, S.C.; a sister, Clara Stroupe of Cherryville; six grandsons and their spouses, Ted Kiser, Dick and Jill Kiser of Mocksville, Eric Morin of Uzbekistan, Allen and Sarah Hinson of Anderson, S.C., and Michael Hinson and Devin Hinson, both of Pendleton, S.C.; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Phil Deitz and Robert Redding officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center of the church.
Memorials may be made to Shady Grove Baptist Church, 3242 Tryon Courthouse Road, Cherryville, NC 28021.
Carpenter's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Martha Upton
CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Martha Elain Willis Upton, 42, of 207 S. Dixie St., died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Plainsview Baptist Church, Lawndale, with the Rev. Bill Ewing officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Carpenter's Funeral Home.

Ron Greene
FOREST CITY - Mr. Norman Ronald "Ron" Greene, 58, of 375 Arlington St., died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Monday at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Wendy Therrell and Roger Huggins officiating.
Burial will be in the Cool Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Padgett and King Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, East Main Street at Elizabeth Avenue, Forest City, NC 28043.

Gleen White
PATTERSON SPRINGS - Mr. Gleen White, 73, of 2213 Cleveland Ave., Grover, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Garland Lee and Edna Lowis McSwain White. He was a member of the Christian Worship Center in Ellenboro and retired from Bost Bakery after 39 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Melrose Easler White of Patterson Springs; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Bruce and Wanda White of Kings Mountain and Ronnie Jack White of Patterson Springs; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn White and Michael Weaver of Patterson Springs; three brothers, Ed White, Charlie White and Vick White, all of Patterson Springs; two sisters, Sarah Long and Myrtie Putnam. both of Patterson Springs; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Christy White and Steven Braswell, April and Steven Anderson, Sha Van Dyke, Chris Patrick, Brittany LaRose White, Daniel Weaver and Kenny Gleen Weaver; and seven great-grandchildren, Lindsey Braswell, Amber Rose Braswell, Katelyn Braswell, Kale Braswell, Avel Anderson, Reanna Anderson and Chelsey Anderson.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Christian Worship Center in Ellenboro with the Revs. John Devine III and Roland Pendley officiating. Burial will be in Patterson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.

Betty Lutz
CAROLEEN - Mrs. Betty Jolley Lutz, 74, of 501 Country Club Acres, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at her home.
She was a housewife and a member of First Baptist Church in Shelby. She was a member of the co-ed Sunday School class, a member of Junior Charity League and a graduate of Tri High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Romeo and Sara Hawkins Jolley; a brother, Earl Jolley; a sister, Pearl Kennedy; two brothers-in-law, Maurice Guffey and Ray Webb Lutz.
She is survived by her husband, Robert H. Lutz of Shelby; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sara Lutz and Charles Tidwell and Betsy and Jerry McPherson, all of Shelby; Josie Guffy of Forest City; a sister-in-law, Sarah Jolley of Forest City; a brother-in-law, Robert Kennedy of Forest City; eight grandchildren, Hal Lutz, Lyndi Lutz and Alexa Lutz, all of Dallas, Texas, Robin Thomas of Annadale, Va., Lew Thomas of Shelby, Emily Thomas of Shelby, Clint McPherson of Rutherfordton and Matthew McPherson of Shelby; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Lutz of Shelby; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Betty and Dick Bowling and Sue and Bill Lutz of Shelby and Violet and Jack Lutz of Forest City; a friend, Edna Hamrick.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Tench officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7:30 at the church.
Memorials may be made to Betty Jolley and Robert Lutz Scholarship Fund at the School of Divinity at Gardner-Webb University, Boiling Springs, NC 28017 or First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 120 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC 28150.

Tomie King
LAWNDALE - Mr. Tomie Lee King, 84, of 118 Henry St., died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
The funeral service will be today at 2 p.m. at Lawndale First Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy D. Houze officiating. Burial will be in the Philadelphia United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.
Genesis Funeral Service and Chapel of Shelby is in charge of arrangements.

Marceille Owens
CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Marceille "Marcy" Browne Owens, 72, of 118 Paul H. Beam Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 14, 1929, in Gaston County. She retired as owner/operator of Marcy's Beauty Nook in Cherryville after 50 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cherryville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Earl D. Browne.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, J.W. "Jack" Owens of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Jaqueline "Jackie" Owens Centofanti and Thomas Centofanti Jr. of Cherryville; one brother, Don R. Browne of Cherryville; four sisters, Dorothy Maness and Robbie "Bobbie" Hood, both of Bessemer City, Doris Davis of Tallahassee, Fla., and Connie Greene of Candler.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Cherryville with Dr. Bill Lowe officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery .
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.

Jared Hernandez
GREENHILL - Jared Blake Hernandez, infant son of Isaias Hernandez and Denise Beck of Greenhill, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at Park Ridge Hospital in Fletcher.
A graveside funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Alexander Mills Cemetery with the Rev. Andrew Gowan officiating. Harrelson Funeral Home of Caroleen is in charge of arrangements.

Rafael Gonzalez
CHARLOTTE - Mr. Rafael A. Gonzalez, 68, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville.
Born April 5, 1933, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, he was retired from insurance sales, where his career spanned four decades. He served in the Air Force and worked for Bankers Life and the subsequent Principal Financial Group, and was a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sondra W. Gonzalez; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Daniel Jacobs of Charlotte and Lisa and Thomas Giroux of Raleigh; three grandchildren, Joseph and Noah Giroux of Raleigh and Isabella Jacobs of Charlotte; two sisters, Zoraida Aponte and Judith Arce of Puerto Rico; and four brothers, Monserrate Gonzalez, Alberto Gonzalez and Carlos Gonzalez, all of Puerto Rico, and Santiago Gonzalez of New Mexico.
A graveside service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Clover Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1225 Oak Grove - Clover Hill Church Road, Casar.
A prayer service will be tonight at 7 at McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel. Visitation will follow until 8:30.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes. Association, 1820 E. 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204.

Mary Stewart
HARRIS - Mrs. Mary Kennedy Stewart, 90, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at White Oak Manor in Rutherfordton.
A graveside service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wesley Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Harris with Rev. Terry Roach officiating. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will follow the service at the cemetery.
Harrelson Funeral Home in Caroleen is in charge of arrangements.
