Paul Tibor, 80, Hebron, died at Bismarck Sunday, April 30, 2000.

His funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at 2:30 p.m. at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Hebron. Rev. Francis dos Remedios OSB will officiate.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the church and will be ongoing until the time of the service.

A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the church.

Special music will be provided by The Tibor Brothers.

Casketbearers will be Harold Conlon, Tom Kuntz, Travis Tibor, Don Herrly, Melvin Dittus and John Conlon. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul’s family and friends.

Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, rural Hebron with military rites by the American Legion Post #100 of Hebron.

Paul was born in rural Hebron September 21, 1919, a son of John Tibor and Mary Hanacek Tibor.

He was raised 18 miles south of Hebron and began his education in country school. He graduated from the Hebron High School in 1938.

He entered the U.S. Army Air Corp April 9, 1942 and was discharged January 8, 1946.

Following his discharge he lived at American Falls, Idaho for a short time and then returned to the Hebron area and began farming and ranching with his brother.

He married Ann Conlon Tibor November 26, 1974 at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Hebron.

Paul was an instructor for the Explorer Scouts for several years.

Paul and Ann continued farming until their retirement when they moved into Hebron in 1984, where they have since lived.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #100, was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and an Eagle Scout.

He leaves his wife, Ann; four step sons – Jim (Linda) Tibor, Hebron; Denis (Sarah) Tibor, Hebron; Robert (Janet) Tibor, Hebron; Terry (Kisanna) Tibor, Pomeroy, WA and one stepdaughter, Jean (Allen) Raaf, Pomeroy, WA.

He also leaves seven grandchildren – Teresa, Travis, Clint, Dustin, Jessica, Tate, Alyssa and Patrick and three great grandchildren.

He also leaves two brothers – Tom of American Falls, Idaho and Andy, Hebron.

Preceding him in death were his parents and six brothers – John, Mike, Joe, Steve, Albert and Victor and two sisters, Mary Tibor and Sister Clara Tibor.

Spangelo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Keith L. Shafer, 50, Glen Ullin, died at his home Sunday, April 23, 2000.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2000 at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glen Ullin. Rev. Jean E. Rosewall will officiate. Special music will be provided by Alvin and Delores Kreis.

Casketbearers will be Allen Shafer, Soren Friestad, Dale Johnson, David Etter, Douglas Etter and Gary Opp.

Interment will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 25 at Spangelo’s in Glen Ullin and one hour prior to services at the church.

Keith was born at Bismarck November 5, 1949, a son of Russell Shafer and Okley Witham Shafer.

He was raised on the family farm and attended school until the eighth grade in Tell Township near Kintyre, ND.

From early childhood on Keith had a love for animals and the outdoors.

He graduated from Napoleon High School. He worked on a farm near Wimbledon until he entered the US Marine Corp on October 2, 1969. While in the service he served in Vietnam.

He was discharged September 29, 1972 and began working construction. He married Sharon Opp May 25, 1974 at Glen Ullin.

In 1982 he was employed by North American Coal as a heavy equipment operator until December of 1996 when he was diagnosed with cancer.

Keith had a special bond with his horse and enjoyed the many hours spent outdoors with him.

He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glen Ullin.

He leaves his wife, Sharon; one son, Brian of Glen Ullin and one daughter Kayla, Glen Ullin.

He also leaves two brothers – Francis (Betty) Shafer, Rapid City, SD and Eugene (Chong) Shafer, Faxon, OK and one sister, Joanne (Gordon) Etter, Wimbledon, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one aunt and several uncles.

Spangelo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lydia Oster, 92, Bismarck, died Monday, June 25, 2000 at Bismarck.

Her funeral service will be held Friday, June 30, 2000 at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Hebron. Pastor Larry Ouhl and Pastor Clyde Leimberer will officiate.

Organist will be Audrey Ouhl and special music will be by Janet Bauman and Beth Huber.

Grandsons will be casketbearers.

Interment will be in the United Methodist Cemetery, Hebron.

Lydia was born at Kulm, ND September 12, 1907, a daughter of Henry Bickel and Wilhelmina Fehr Bickel.

She was raised and educated at Tuttle, ND. She married John Oster February 8, 1929 at Tuttle.

Following their marriage they moved to Hebron.

Lydia enjoyed gardening, crocheting, making quilts and afghans. She was a loving mother who looked forward to the visits of her children and grandchildren, always making sure she had buns, kuchen and cookies ready for them.

She moved to Bismarck in April, 1988, where she has since lived.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hebron and the WSWS.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, three sons, one daughter, two grandchildren, a sister and a brother.

She leaves two sons – Edwin (Loretta), Miles City, MT; Harold (Eunice) Goldendale, WA; three daughters – Eleanor (Art) Kitzan, Bismarck, ND; Shirley Oster, Bismarck, ND; Alice Senne, Valley City, ND; two daughters-in-law, Clarice Oster, Fargo, ND and Rosemary Oster, Cedar Rapids, IA.

She also leaves 22 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and three brothers – Ed Bickel, Tuttle, ND; Adam Bickel, Utah and Henry Hein, Wing, ND.

Spangelo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Marie Roth, 98, Glen Ullin, ND died Wednesday, June 21, 2000 at Glen Ullin.

Her funeral was held Saturday, June 24, 2000 at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hebron at 10 a.m.

Rev. Jean Rosewall officiated. Organist was Erma Klein and special music was provided by the Congregational Choir.

Pallbearers were Troy Pleins, Justin Adolf, Tyler Adolf, Duane Roth, Wayne Roth and Brian Feist.

Interment was in the First Congregational Cemetery, Hebron.

Marie was born in South Russia February 11, 1902, a daughter of Peter Kessler and Rosina Krenzler Kessler.

She came to the United States in 1903 with her family. They homesteaded 109 miles north of Glen Ullin. In 1923 they moved into Hebron.

Marie met Emil Roth and they were married July 2, 1925. Following their marriage they lived in Hebron. Marie was known for her tatting and baking abilities.

Emil died in 1966. Marie entered the Marian Manor Healthcare Center in Glen Ullin in January of 1993.

Marie accepted Christ as her personal Savior as a young girl and stayed true to him to the end.

She was a member of the Guiding Light Society at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Hebron.

She is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law – Clarence and Mildred Roth, Bismarck; Vernon and Freida Roth, Bismarck and Nan Roth, Newport News, VA.

She also leaves eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Merlin, three brothers and two sisters.

Spangelo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
