Bucky Waters
HILLSBORO, N.D. -- Bucky Waters, 72, Hillsboro, died Wednesday, April 23, 1997, at home.
Bucky Waters was born Aug. 29, 1924, near Hillsboro, the son of Joseph and Della Waters. He grew up and attended school in Kelso, N.D., and graduated in 1942 from Hillsboro High School. He moved to Bremerton, Wash., where he worked in the shipyards. He returned to Hillsboro and joined the U.S. Army, serving in Europe during World War II. He returned to Hillsboro in 1945 and worked for his uncle, Ben Johnson, at Farmers Union Oil Co. until the pair formed their own company, Ben's Cash Supply. He married Audrey Hanson Aug. 10, 1947, in Moorhead. He remained in the oil business until 1953 when he and his family moved to Bloomfield Township, where they farmed until renting their farm out in 1972. He worked in construction for two years before joining Red River Co-op Sugar Beet Co. He retired from American Crystal Sugar Beet Co. in 1991. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4172.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Donald and James ``J.P.", both of Hillsboro, Larry and Robert, both of Casper, Wyo.; and daughter, Jean Swenson, Hillsboro.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tim, in 1993.
Services: 2 p.m. today in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Hillsboro.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Hillsboro (Wildeman, Hillsboro).
Mabel Anderson
Mabel Anderson, 97, Willamina, Ore., formerly of North Dakota, died Friday, April 25, 1997, in Sheridan, Ore.
She was born Aug. 1, 1899, in Bertha, Minn. She married Lyle Anderson Nov. 20, 1917, in Bagley, Minn. They farmed in North Dakota. She later moved to Willamina to live with her daughter. She is survived by her daughters, Dolores Johnson, Willamina, and Aurel Wood, Grand Forks; son, Richard Anderson, Gilby, N.D.; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Gaylord; and a grandson.
Services: 1 p.m. Adamson+s Sheridan Funeral Home, Sheridan.
Burial: Inkster, N.D.
Phyllis Swenson
Phyllis Swenson, 64, Grand Forks, died Friday, May 9, 1997 at the Luther Home of the Good Shepard, New Rockford, N.D.
Phyllis Aune was born Aug. 13, 1932, the daughter of Simon and Lena (Jacobson) Aune, in St. Thomas, N.D., where she attended school. She married Morton Swenson July 20, 1951, in Climax, Minn. She worked at Jiffy Fry in Crookston. She moved to California, and in 1991, she moved to Grand Forks.
She is survived by sons, Steven, Crookston, Richard (Kristi), New Rockford, and Bruce, Chicago; daughters, Laurel (Perry) Ambuehl, and Carole (Charlie) Olson, both of Crookston, and Merry Jo (Glen) Prather, Grand Forks; 10 grandsons; a brother, Harvey Linn, Sacramento; and sisters, Rhoda Falcide, Fargo, and Yvonne Linn-Toth, Mesa, Ariz.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Buxton, N.D.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Immanuel Cemetery, near Buxton.
Gervase `Terry' Terres
BEMIDJI -- Gervase ``Terry" Terres, 81, Bemidji, died Friday, May 9, 1997, in North County Regional Hospital, Bemidji.
Gervase Peter Terres was born January 11, 1916 the son of John and Anna (Mimbach) Terres, in Wales, N.D. He grew up and attended school in St. Cloud, Minn. He joined the U.S. Army and served in the Air Corps while stationed at Wright Patterson Field in Ohio. He married Martha Gray August 31, 1946, in Fairfield, Minn. They moved to Bemidji in 1948, where he worked for Nabisco. Later, he worked for Hills Brothers Coffee. He retired in 1980.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Jane (Joe) Tesar, and Christine Terres, both of Bemidji, and Jeanne (John) Adolfson, Spokane, Wash.; sons, Peter (Nancy), Boston, Robert (Wendy), Newport Richie, Fla., James, Pequot Lakes, Minn., and Michael, Marco Island Fla.; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Francis, Bloomington, Minn.; and sisters, Elizabeth Patton and Mary Wallin, both of Talent, Ore.
He was preceded in death by four grandchildren; a brother, Sylvester; and a sister, Janet.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Philip's Catholic Church, Bemidji.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service and a 7:30 p.m. rosary, in Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery, Bemidji.
Doris Desrosier
CROOKSTON -- Doris Desrosier, 82, Crookston, died Friday, May 9, in Riverview Hospital, Crookston.
Doris Amanda Perreault was born Nov. 11, 1914, the daughter of John Albert and Elodia (Laundry) Perreault, in Terrebonne, Minn., where she attended rural school. She married Alfred Desrosier Oct. 9, 1934, in Terrebonne. They lived and farmed near Beltrami, Minn. In 1960, they moved to Crookston, where she worked at St. Vincent Nursing Home. They also were foster parents for 18 years to 120 children and boarded boys from Mexico, who were students at Mount St. Benedict High School. Alfred Desrosier died March 4, 1982.
She is survived by sons, Donald (Rita) and Linus (Cathy), both of Crookston, and Stanley, Roosevelt, Minn.; daughters, Gloria (Harold) Elmer, Chippewa Falls, Wis., Elaine (Dale) Sylvester, Bonnie (Jim) Sullivan, Lucia (Dennis) Swenson and Linda (Ronald) Lanctot, all of Crookston, Rose (Ken) Rustad, Fargo, Carol (Roy) Schatschneider, West Fargo, Charlotte (Richard) Mohs, Chanhassen, Minn., and Anna (Bryan) Vidden, Grand Forks; 44 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a foster child, Christy Richie, in Maryland; a brother, Noel ``Robert," Albert Lea, Minn.; and sisters, Rose Beaudoin, Oklee, Minn., Mae Lallier, Red Lake Falls, Minn., Cecelia Gingras, Lafayetteville, N.C., Florence Moen, Baudette, Minn., and Sr. Sylvia ``Gabe" Perreault, Stillwater, Minn.
She was preceded in death by two infant children; brothers, George, Omer and Wallace; and sisters, Stella Desrosier and Mona Klooz.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday in Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston.
Visitation: 5 to 9 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and one hour before services, all in the church.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Crookston (Stenshoel-Houske, Crookston).
