Alice Wardner
Alice Wardner, 93, Almonte Living Center, died Wednesday, May 7, 1997, in Sargent Manor, Forman, N.D.
Alice Flaat was born Feb. 4, 1904, the daughter of Arne and Gunnel (Omlid) Flaat, in Redlands, Calif. She attended school in Grand Forks and received a bachelor of education degree from UND in 1927. She taught history and home economics at the Cavalier (N.D.) High School. She married C. Arthur Wardner Sept. 10, 1930, in Fisher, Minn. He died July 13, 1985.
She is survived by a daughter, Joy (Donald) Bostrom, Grand Forks; a son, Art (Helen) Wardner, Tustin, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Lambie; and a brother, Ole Flaat.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks.
Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral home.
Burial: Sunnywood Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Valley Memorial Homes.
Lawrence Sliper
CUMMINGS, N.D. -- Lawrence Sliper, 93, Fargo, formerly of Cummings, died Tuesday, May 6, 1997, at the Rosewood on Broadway Nursing Home, Fargo, where he had lived since December.
Lawrence Sliper was born March 10, 1904, the son of Martin and Lina Sliper, in Cummings. He attended North Dakota State University, where he studied agriculture. He married Dorothy Forde Sept. 20, 1930, in Cummings. They lived on the family farm. Dorothy Sliper died May 1, 1970. He retired in 1980. He moved into Evergreen's Retirement Home, Fargo, in September 1993.
He is survived by a son, David (Norma), Moorhead; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; and sisters Olga Allen and Myrtle Ross, both of Fargo.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Gudrun Drennan.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday in Norway Lutheran Church, Cummings.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Norway Cemetery, Cummings (Baker, Mayville, N.D).
Dennis Kennedy
Dennis Kennedy, 53, 520 Lincoln Drive, died Monday, May 5, 1997, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Dennis Kennedy was born March 31, 1944, the son of Quentin and Mildred (Jackson) Kennedy, in Grand Forks. He graduated from Central High School in 1962 and went to work for Amiot's Hospital Supply, Grand Forks. He was currently working at the Brekke's Orthotic Services, East Grand Forks and Ray Ennis Gunshop, Grand Forks.
He is surved by his parents; brothers Robert, Manvel, N.D., Lynn, Grand Forks, Larry, Ojai, Calif., and Ken, Grand Forks; and a sister, Kathy McBeth, Wahpeton, N.D.
Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday in Stennes Funeral Home Chapel, East Grand Forks.
Marion Pryzbylski
WARREN, Minn. -- Marion Pryzbylski, 76, died Wednesday, May 7 , 1997, inNorth Valley Health Center, Warren.
Marion Edmund Pryzbylski was born Nov. 12, 1920, the son of Joseph and Emelia (Gratzek) Pryzbylski, in Stephen, Minn. He moved with his family to Argyle, Minn., where he attended school. He married Rose Perkerwicz June 25, 1947, in Warsaw, N.D. They moved to Argyle, where he farmed. He also operated Rocky's Wood Shop and traveled over the area selling his crafts.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Michael (Jacki), Cottage Grove, Minn.; two grandchildren; and sisters, Alice Ecklund, Brainerd, Minn., and Maxine Allison, Bloomington, Minn.
He is preceded in death by brothers, Ralph and Gordon.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Argyle.
Visitstion: 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, in the church, and one hour before sevices.
Burial: St. Rose Cemetery (Quanrud-DuBore, Warren, Minn.).
Edna Gudvangen
CROOKSTON -- Edna Gudvangen, 83, Crookston, died Wednesday, May 7, 1997, in Riverview Hospital, Crookston.
Edna Lambertson was born Jan. 31, 1914, the daughter of Columbus and Ella Lambertson, in Emmetsburg, Ia. At the age of three, she moved with her family to Spring Creek, Minn., near Fertile, Minn., where she attended country school. She moved to Crookston in 1932. She married Kenneth Roberts in Crookston. She worked at a Crookston restaurant during the 1930s and '40s. She married Arthur Gudvangen Feb. 10, 1952, in Crookston. He died Sept. 17, 1991. She moved into Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in April 1994.
She is survived by a brother, Merle, Grove City, Minn.; and sisters, Gladys Christionson, Ulen, Minn. and Eleanora Erstad, Glyndon, Minn.
She was preceded in death by sons, Lyle Roberts and Kenneth Roberts; brothers, Everett, Harold, Ray, Albert, Clifford and Cecil; and sisters, Nellie Peterson, Daisy Neff and Helen Andree.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday in Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston.
