Howard Kitzan
Howard Kitzan, 78, Bismarck and formerly of rural Richardton, went to be with the Lord, whom he loved dearly on Sunday, July 6, 2003 at a Bismarck Healthcare Center.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. MT Thursday, July 10, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Hebron with the Reverend David Ling officiating.
Burial will be in the First Baptist Cemetery in Hebron.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Spangelo Funeral Home in Hebron where a prayer service will be held at 6 p.m.
Howard was born February 5, 1925 near Antelope, ND, the son of Adolph and Martha (Dollinger) Kitzan. He grew up on the farm and was educated in a country school.
He married Hillia Delzer from Elgin on October 18, 1950 in New Leipzig.
He was a lifetime farmer southeast of Antelope where he raised small grains and worked with his herd of dairy cows.
One of his greatest joys was to be on a John Deere tractor working the fields.
Howard had served for many years on the Hebron Creamery Board.
When his health began to fail and he required dialysis, he moved to Bismarck several years ago. He entered the Missouri Slope in March, 2003 and lived there until his death on July 6, 2003.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Gertrude.
He is survived by his wife Hillia, Bismarck, ND; two sons, Douglas and his friend, Lugene Gerber, Bismarck, ND and Brian and his wife Connie, Richardton, ND and one daughter Audrey Schumacher, Havre, MT
He also leaves five grandchildren – Casey, Bryce and Craig Kitzan and Amber and Lindsay Schumacher.
He also leaves one sister, Lorraine Delzer, Mandan, ND.
Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron, was in charge of arrangements.

Loretta Drummond
Loretta M. Drummond, 83, Naperville, IL died Saturday, June 28, 2003 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL.
She was born August 25, 1919 in Kewanee, IL and had been a resident of Naperville for the past two years.
Before coming to Naperville, she had been a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa for five years and Hebron, North Dakota for 16 years.
While living in Bettendorf, she was a sewing instructor at the Singer Sewing Center.
Mrs. Dummond loved to sew and cook. She was also very active in Cub Scouting and the DeMolay, a Masonic group for 14 – 21 year olds and was a State Mom in Iowa for one year.
She is survived by her husband Ray G. Drummond, Sr., Naperville, IL; a son Bruce (Diane DeBok) Drummond of Terre Haute, IN; a daughter Lois Tibor of Valley City, ND; a daughter-in-law Julie Drummond, Naperville, IL; a sister Doris Witte of Toulon, IL; five grandchildren Danielle Drummond, Stacey Kelly, Lori Carden, Beth Otero and Michelle Wings and by eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents – August "Ed" and Ida (nee Norburn) Heavner; a son Ray G. Drummond, Jr.; a brother Edwin Heavner and by a sister Helen Nanninga.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville, IL.
Interment will be in the Naperville Cemetery. Information 630-355-0264.

Ruth Bruvold
Ruth Bruvold, 82, Hebron, ND died Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at the Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO.
Her funeral service was held Saturday, June 28 at 2 p.m. at the St. John Church in Hebron with Pastor Ed Zuern, officiating.
Burial was in the St. John cemetery in Hebron.
Ruth Bruvold was born September 24, 1920 near Antelope, ND, the daughter of Gottlieb and Ann (Kapitz) Diede.
She grew up in the Antelope area and was educated and graduated from the Hebron school.
She attended college at Fargo for two years.
She worked in Dickinson at the County Extension until her marriage to Orion Bruvold on November 11, 1945 at the St. John Church in Hebron.
Following their marriage they made their life together on the farm where they raised children, small grains, Hereford cattle and Duroc hogs.
Ruth was a member of the St. John Church.
She died June 24, 2003 in Colorado Springs, CO at the age of 82 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Russel; one granddaughter Jackie Roberts, two sisters – June Peterson and Phyllis Lund and one brother, Harold Diede.
Ruth is survived by four daughters – Bonnie (Paul) Orvedahl, Hebron, ND; Peggy (Dale) Wilson, Dolores, CO; Linda (Walter) Borntrauger, Bloomfield, MT and Ginger Bruvold, Lake George, CO.
Ruth has six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron, was in charge of arrangements.

Irene Klick
Irene M. Klick, 99, Dickinson and formerly of Hebron, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at the St. Benedict’s Healthcare Center in Dickinson.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2003 at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Hebron with the Reverend Francis dos Remedios, OSB as Celebrant.
Burial was in the St. John Cemetery in Hebron.
Irene was born August 15, 1903 at Sleepy Eye, MN, a daughter of Michael and Mary (Faast) Radl. She was reared at Sleepy Eye and was educated at St. Mary’s School.
She furthered her education at the College of St. Catherines at St. Paul where she graduated in June, 1925.
She moved to Hebron and taught in the high school.
She married Walter G. Klick September 12, 1928 at Sleepy Eye, MN.
Following their marriage she did substitute teaching and raised her family.
Irene was active in the community. She was a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Royal Neighbors, Hebron Historical and Art Society and the Brick City Senior Citizens.
Irene enjoyed quilting, visiting and had many friends in Hebron and elsewhere.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Barbara Klick, Vienna, VA and a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Zane Gray, Sun City Center, FL.
She also leaves seven grandsons, one granddaughter and 16 great grandchildren.
She also leaves a sister, Marie Kuhlmann, Fargo, eight nieces and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter, three brothers – Robert, Cyril and Michael and a sister, Marcella.
Spangelo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Minnie Duppong
Philomena "Minnie" Miller Duppong, 87, New Salem, died Thursday, June 19, 2003 at a Bismarck Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, June 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church, New Salem, with the Father Chad Gion as Celebrant.
Burial was in the St. Pius Cemetery, New Salem.
Minnie was born June 10, 1916 in rural Glen Ullin, the daughter of Michael and Celestina (Steiner) Gartner. She grew up and was educated in rural Glen Ullin.
She went to work in Glen Ullin. She married Ralph Miller June 15, 1937 in Glen Ullin. Following their marriage they farmed in the Crown Butte area for 24 years and then moved to New Salem where Minnie worked at the Sunset Café and as a cook at the school.
Ralph died December 28, 1977.
She met William Duppong Sr. after her retirement. They were married April 23, 1984 at New Salem.
She moved to Bill’s farm where they lived for several years until they moved to New Salem.
They moved to an apartment in Glen Ullin in 2000 and in early August she entered the Elm Crest Manor in New Salem.
She died June 19, 2003 at Medcenter One in Bismarck.
She was a long time member of the Christian Mothers and loved to embroider and play cards.
She is survived by her husband Bill, Glen Ullin, ND; two sons Duane (Lila) Miller, Westminster, CO and Donald (Marlene) Miller, Burnsville, MN and two daughters, Karen (Duane) Maier, New Salem and Vicki (Bryan) Hoesel, New Salem.
Her grandsons are Kent, Todd and Dean Miller, Jesse, Jason and Jake Maier; Darren and Russ Hoesel.
Her granddaughters are Michelle Walters, Theresa Brown, Kimberly Miller, Nancy Swank, Lisa Johnson and Sara Spickler.
She has seven great grandchildren and two brothers, Frank Gartner, Mandan, ND and Al Gartner, Glen Ullin, ND and one sister, Mary Anderson, Dallas, Or.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph; a son Milton, a daughter, Laura; three brothers – Joe, John and Ed and two sisters, Agatha and Kate.
Spangelo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
