Chynna Lynn Wass

CARRINGTON, N.D. -- Chynna Lynn Wass, 18, Carrington, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, due to injuries sustained in an auto accident near Sykeston, N.D.

Chynna Lynn Wass was born Oct. 17, 1980, the daughter of Randy and Elaine (Rice) Wass, in Devils Lake. She grew up and attended school in Starkweather, N.D., where she played basketball and other sports. In the summer of 1996, she moved to Carrington with her father and sisters. She was currently a senior at Carrington High School, where she was a wrestling cheerleader and in band and choir. She had worked at various part-time jobs in Carrington.

She is survived by her father, Carrington; her mother, Starkweather; sisters, Krysta and Jerilyn, both of Carrington; and grandmothers, Edith Wass, Starkweather, and Mary Rice, Cando, N.D.

She was preceded in death by grandfathers, Chester Wass and Hilmer Rice.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington.

Visitation: 11 a.m. to 8: 30 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

Burial: Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Cemetery, Starkweather.

Ashley JoAnn Rask

CARRINGTON, N.D. -- Ashley JoAnn Rask, 14, Carrington, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, in Sykeston, N.D., due to injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Ashley JoAnn Rask was born Dec. 29, 1983, the daughter of Craig and Leslie (Hanson) Rask, in Carrington. She was currently a freshman at Carrington High School, where she was involved in band and choir. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and did baby-sitting in Carrington.

She is survived by her father, Craig (Brenda), Carrington; her mother, Leslie Rask, Carrington; brothers, Brandon, Casey and Bryat; sisters, Nichole and Kaitlyn, all at home; her grandparents, Lester and Rayburn Hanson, Chasley, N.D., and Alvin and Helen Rask, Hurdsfield, N.D.; and stepgrandparents, Dave and JoAnn Vining, Jamestown.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Carrington High School Gymnasium.

Visitation: 9 a.m. to 5: 30 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, with a 7 p.m. prayer service today in Trinity Lutheran Church.

Burial: Carrington Cemetery.

Louis J. Pfann

SYKESTON, N.D. -- Louis J. Pfann, 86, Casselton, N.D., formerly of Sykeston and Carrington, N.D., died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, in Good Samaritan Center, Arthur, N.D.

Louis J. Pfann was born Aug. 18, 1912, the daughter of Theresa and Frank Pfann, in Parkston, S.D. He moved with his mother to Sykeston, where he attended school. He married Estella Bofenkamp on Oct. 18, 1937. They farmed in the Sykeston and Carrington areas until 1960, when they moved to Clark, S.D. They owned and operated a hardware store in Clark. They moved in 1967 to Casselton, where he worked for Scheels Hardware and Hardware Hank stores until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Louis (Deanna), Mentor, Minn.; daughters, Marlys (Harvey) Steinman, Bismarck, Joann (Art) Swanson, Moorhead, Janet (John) Welk, Madison, Wis., Lenora (Glenn) Smith, Rochester, Minn., Mary (Cole) Jendro, Casselton, and Karen (Dan) Wenner, Detroit Lakes, Minn.; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, St. Leo's Catholic Church, Casselton.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7: 15 rosary and 7: 30 prayer service, West Funeral Chapel, Casselton, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: St. Leo's Cemetery.

Victor Stoltman

WARSAW, N.D. -- Victor Stoltman, 86, Warsaw, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at Lutheran Sunset Home, Grafton, N.D.

Victor Stoltman was born Dec. 23, 1911, the son of Peter and Frances (Ebertowski) Stoltman, in Warsaw. He attended school in Walshville Township, Walsh County, N.D. He married Dorothy Korczak on Oct. 5, 1936, in Minto, N.D. They farmed in Walsh County. Dorothy Stoltman died Sept. 23, 1979.

He is survived by daughters, Roseann (John) Koppy and Mary Jane (Rodney) Fischer, both of Grand Forks; a son, Gregory (Winnie), Oslo, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Sharon Riskey and Clarice Stoltman; and a sister, Dorothy Czapiewski, Grand Forks.

He was preceded in death by sons, Peter and Vernon; and a grandson.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Warsaw.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and 8 to 9: 30 a.m. Thursday, Henriksen-Kamrowski Funeral Home, Grafton.

Burial: St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.

Cecelia A. 'Sally' Beltz

HILLSBORO, N.D. -- Cecelia A. "Sally" Beltz, 61, Wellington, Texas, formerly of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, in Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice, Amarillo, Texas.

Cecelia Ann Hoffman was born June 16, 1937, the daughter of Sylvester and Thelma (Bush) Hoffman, in Marshall County, Ill. She moved with her family to Minnesota. She married Duane Beltz on Feb. 14, 1955, in Hillsboro. They lived in France from 1955 to 1957. She worked at the Hillsboro Hospital as a nurses aide and on the family farm with an egg hatching business. She served as a foster parent in Traill County, N.D. They retired and moved to Wellington in 1994. She worked for Gregory Enterprises and did general housekeeping for Wellington Farmers Coop Gin and Church of Christ Kitchen.

She is survived by her husband; daughters, Sandra Ellis, Wellington, Mary Beltz, Fargo, and Katherine Sperl, Hillsboro; a son, Michael, Hillsboro; two grandsons; brothers, George (Ruth), Salem, Va., Joseph and John (Barbara), all of Norwood, Minn., and Edward, Neilsville, Minn.; and sisters, Mary (Francis) Dahlen, Coon Rapids, Minn., and Catherine, Moorhead.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Edna Mae Hoffman.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Shelly (Minn.) Marsh River Lutheran Church.

Visitation: 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a 6: 30 p.m. prayer service, Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro, and one hour before services in the church. Memorials are suggested to the local Hospice Chapter.

Constance Lilleberg

CUMMINGS, N.D. -- Constance Lilleberg, 88, Cummings, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, in Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home.

Constance Estelle Fenney was born March 5, 1910, the daughter of Theodore and Charlotte Fenney, in Taylor, Wis. She attended school in Eau Claire, Wis. She became an elementary school teacher in Wisconsin before teaching in North Dakota in 1943. She married Kenneth Lilleberg in May 1944. They farmed near Cummings until retiring in 1972. She moved to Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home in February 1998.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Herbert, Cummings; a brother, Philip, Baraboo, Wis.; and sisters, Ellen Broe and Esther Sikich, both of California.

She was preceded in death by four brothers; and three sisters.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Highland Lutheran Church, Cummings.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Highland Lutheran Cemetery.

May C. 'Mavis' 'Sissy' deMontigny

May C. "Mavis" "Sissy" deMontigny, 63, 1817 First Ave N., died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, in Altru Hospital.

May Cecelia Demerais was born Sept. 12, 1935, the daughter of John and Delia (Azure) Demerais, in Belcourt, N.D. She lived with her family in Belcourt and Forest River, N.D., Tabor, Minn., and East Grand Forks. She married William Euclid deMontigny on Dec. 31, 1953, in Crookston. They lived in several states and Grand Forks.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Myra Ann (Jon) Borton; sons, William and Christopher; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Alva Rose (Mickey) Newbre and Vera Nelson.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Josephine, Victoria, Lillian and Theresa; and brother, Ernest, John and Frank.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Anne's Catholic Church, Belcourt.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a 6: 30 p.m. prayer service, Norman Funeral Home, Columbia Road, Grand Forks, and 6: 30 p.m. Friday in the church.

Burial: St. Anne's Cemetery.

Ardys M. Jaeger

ESMOND, N.D. -- Ardys M. Jaeger, 66, Esmond, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.

Ardys Mae Willy was born May 9, 1932, the daughter of Edward and Caroline (Conrad) Willy, in Esmond, where she graduated from high school in 1950. She attended St. John's School of Nursing and North Dakota State University, both Fargo. She married Christ Jaeger on Oct. 8, 1951, in Esmond. They lived and farmed near Esmond. She later attended UND-Lake Region, Devils Lake, took correspondence courses from Bringham Young University, graduated from H & R Block Income Tax Course and Certification in Aging and Developmental Disabilities Program. She was business manager for Esmond Senior Citizens Housing Program, accountant for Esmond Cafe, and secretary of the Wells-Sheridan Aging Council Outreach Program. She was presently the accountant for Artos Motel, Harvey, N.D., and an instructor in the Harvey Adult Vocational Instructional Technology Program.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Larry (Amy), Denver, Roger (Debby), Fargo, and Gerald (Christie), Esmond; daughters, Ruth Jaeger, Fargo, Carrie (Rick) Odden, Harvey, and Audrey (Rob) Jaeger-Sandruck, Louisberg, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Elaine (Dale) White, Moorhead, and Eileen (Dan) Weigel, Tacoma, Wash.; and brother, Marvin (Diane), Minneapolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Jeanette Vetter and Mary Willy.

Services: 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, St. Boniface Catholic Church, Esmond.

Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. today, Nelson Funeral Home, Esmond, and after 6 p.m. today in the church, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Burial: St. Ann's Cemetery, Fillmore, N.D.

Beverly Foster

EDMORE, N.D. -- Beverly Foster, 66, Minneapolis, formerly of Edmore, died Jan. 2, 1998.

Beverly Joy Johnson was born Aug. 29, 1931, the daughter of Harold and Ellen Johnson, in Edmore, where she attended school. She graduated from UND in 1953, with a degree in English literature. She taught at UND while pursuing a master's degree. She taught in Ray, N.D., and Lodi, Calif. She attended graduate school at the University of Pacifica, Stockton, Calif. She taught high school English in San Anselmo, Morin County, Calif., from 1957 to 1960. She returned to Minneapolis, where she was a certified employment consultant. In the mid-1960s, she returned to California. She married Sam Foster in 1970 in California. From 1971 to 1991, she was the vice president of Foster's Bakery. She was customer relations coordinator, negotiated union contracts and helped her husband in the sales department. In 1992, she became a resident at Mt. Olivet Careview Nursing Home, Minneapolis.

She is survived by her husband; her mother; and a brother, Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Services: Were held in Roseville, Minn.

Burial: Roseville Cemetery.

Sidney Wold

Sidney Wold, 91, Grand Forks, died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, in Valley Eldercare Center, Grand Forks.

Sidney Wold was born Sept. 20, 1906, the son of Ole and Anna Wold, in Mekinock, N.D., where he attended school. He married Margaret Kvamme on April 28, 1941, in Grand Forks. He worked as a farm laborer until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife.

He was preceded in death by five sisters; and two brothers.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks.

Verbie Nelson

BEMIDJI -- Verbie Nelson, 83, Walker, Minn., formerly of Bemidji, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Park Rapids, Minn.

Verbie Marie Hoffmaster was born Nov. 6, 1914, the daughter of Otto and Theresa (Zilbert) Hoffmaster, in Turtle River, Minn., where she attended school. She married Delbert Nelson in 1933, in Bemidji. They lived in Tenstrike, Minn. She moved to the Ah-Gwah-Ching Nursing Home, Walker.

She is survived by daughters, Sally (Gordon) Tomhave, Coon Rapids, Minn., and Emiline (Ken) Jensen, Iowa Falls, Iowa; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson; and a sister, Francis Moe, Bemidji.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Esther Usher and Audrey Hansen; and a brother, Frank.

Services: 2 p.m. today, in Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji

Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.
