Frank Schmidt, 87, Hebron, ND died Sunday, October 8, 2000 at Glen Ullin. His funeral will be held today, Wednesday, October 11, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. MT at the St. Ann Catholic Church, Hebron.
Reverend Francis dos Remedios, OSB will officiate. Bonnie Schmidt will be organist and special music will be provided by Donna Reinbold.
Casketbearers will be Todd Schmidt, Bradley Schmidt, Andy Schmidt, Jason Hellman, Jordan Hellman, Darvin Schmidt, Jamie Schmidt and Darcy Schmidt.
Interment will be in the St. Ann’s Cemetery, Hebron.
Frank was born at Glen Ullin January 10, 1913, a son of Jacob Schmidt and Anna Glass Schmidt.
He was raised and educated in rural Hebron.
He married Loretta Gauer June 28, 1937 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin.
Following their marriage they farmed with his parents and they bought their own farm in 1941.
Frank and Loretta farmed until 1994 when they retired and moved into Hebron. Frank lived in Hebron until the spring of 2000 when he entered the Marian Manor Health Center in Glen Ullin.
He was a past member of the rural fire district where he served on their board.
He leaves his wife, Loretta; one daughter Janet and Delbert Hellman, Williston, ND and three sons – Walter, Hebron; Clifford and Joyce, Hebron and Jerry and Roberta, Bismarck, ND.
He also leaves 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Ann Schmidt, three brothers – Henry, Jack and Nick and a great grandson, Tyler.

Ruth Senn, 75, Mandan, died September 8, 2000 at her home in Mandan. Funeral services were held Monday, September 11 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Mandan at 1 p.m.
Burial was in the Mandan Union Cemetery.
Ruth was born December 2, 1924 at Glen Ullin, the daughter of Alfred and Anna Mutschelknaus Anhorn. Raised there, she graduated from the Glen Ullin High School.
She taught rural schools in the Glen Ullin area prior to her marriage to Robert H. Senn April 12, 1948 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mandan. They made their home in Mandan where she was employed at J.C.Penney and the Farmers Union Elevator.
Ruth was an active member of the Mandan Golden Age Club where she served on RSVP, the Grante Board and as chairperson of the center committee. She received recognition for her volunteer work. A wonderful aunt, great-aunt and friend to many, Ruth will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Ruth was well known and has touched so many of our lives in ways we will never forget. She was very well liked by the senior citizens at the Golden Age because of her dedication.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Gary and Pat Anhorn, Peggy Benz and Sandra Prudents, all of Mandan and Gary and Carol Backman of Bismarck; special great nieces and nephews, Nicole, Darren, Cody, Stacy, Paul, Travis, Tiffany, Ivy, Courtney, Michael and John, Jr.; a very special great grand niece, Taylor Rose and special friend, Clara Wiege.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, who died April 10, 2000 and her brother, Raymond Anhorn.

Elaine Marie Schwartz, 40, Elk River, MN, formerly of Richardton, ND died Thursday, September 7, 2000 at the N.C.Little Hospice Center, Edina, MN. Her funeral was held Monday, September 11, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. at River of Life Assembly Church, Dickinson with Rev. James Hessler officiating. Interment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Richardton.
Elaine Marie Schwartz was born on August 9, 1960 in Dickinson, ND the daughter of LeRoy and Evelyn (Burris) Schwartz. She was raised and educated in Richardton, graduating from Richardton High School.
She received her B.S.Degree in English Education from Moorhead State University and her Doctorate Degree from Hamlin University School of Law, at St. Paul, MN. She has practiced law in Minnesota from 1987, up until the time of her death.
She enjoyed gardening, small children and sharing the love of Jesus Christ with everyone she came in contact with.
Elaine is survived by her parents, LeRoy and Evelyn Schwartz, Richardton; two sisters, Pam (Michael) Godfrey, Portland, OR and Lori (Shawn) Whitten, Springfield, MO; one brother, Michael (Heather) Schwartz, Richardton; her paternal grandmother, Eva Schwartz, Richardton; six nieces and six nephews; a special family, the Craig and Michelle Durusha Family, Elk River, MN and many very special friends.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandpa, and maternal grandma and grandpa.

Lydia (Kreis) Ding, 92, Englewood, CO, formerly of Spearfish, SD, died September 30, 2000 at Mariner Health Care Center, Littleton, CO.
Lydia was born February 4, 1908 in Glen Ullin, ND, the daughter of founding pioneers Karl and Katherine (Fetzer) Kreis. She attended the local schools and lived in western North Dakota for 60 years.
She married Jacob Ding October 20, 1929 in Hebron, ND. They were involved in farming and ranching for many years in Glen Ullin, introducing Galloway cattle. They also briefly operated a Gambles Store in Underwood, ND.
In 1971 Lydia and Jacob moved to Spearfish, SD where they were responsible for supervising the Meier Ranch. Lydia was involved in the performance of the Black Hills Passion Play. She was known for cooking and handiwork. In 1996, she moved to Englewood to live with her daughter.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ and active in the Women’s Fellowship.
Survivors include her daughter Shirley (Mrs. Henry) Meier, Englewood, CO, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law Angie Ding, Fargo, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob, parents, her son Armin Ding and five brothers.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 6, 2000 at 10 a.m. at the United Church of Christ, Spearfish, SD. with Rev. Mel Miller officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Spearfish United Church of Christ.
