Joyce Praus
Joyce Praus, 61, Killdeer, ND died Sunday, January 29, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital in Dickinson, ND.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. MT Thursday, February 2, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Jerry Ruelle, as Celebrant.
Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. MT Wednesday, February 1 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Killdeer, ND.
Arrangements are pending with Spangelo Funeral Home in Hebron and Stevenson Funeral Home, Killdeer.

Lillian Sprenger
Lillian Sprenger, 74, Mandan, died January 26, 2006 at the Marian Manor HealthCare Center in Glen Ullin.
Her funeral services was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 30 at the Buehler-Larson Funeral Home Chapel in Mandan with the Reverend Steve Johnson officiating.
Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Lillian was born March 13, 1931 at Carson, the daughter of Theodore and Frieda (Horst) Diehl. She was raised and educated in the area and married Almore Sprenger March 23, 1951.
They farmed near Elgin for a short time before moving to Mandan.
Lillian loved spending time with family and friends, particularly enjoying winters spent with her son and grandchildren in Texas.
She had been a resident of Marian Manor since November of 2005.
Lillian is survived by two daughters - Karen Underdahl and her husband, Lynn, Hebron and Joleen Sprenger and her husband, Gary Falk of Jamestown and a son Jeff Sprenger, Katy, TX.
She also leaves five grandchildren - Jesse and Tanya Underdahl, Heather Stolz, Shawnee Sprenger and Jared (Jami) Falk and one great-grandchild, Aden Falk.
Other survivors include three sisters - Arlene Sprenger and Irene Halbert, both of Oregon and Corraine Schock, Elgin and a brother Theophil Diehl, Mandan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Almore, who died January 2, 1999 and four brothers.
Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, was in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Ann Sebastian
Barbara Ann Sebastian, 84, Mandan, formerly of Hebron, died Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at the Medcenter One Health Care Center in Mandan.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006 at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Hebron with the Rev. Sebastian Schmidt OSB, celebrant.
Musicians were Gerald and Debbie Sebastian and Ronald Schwartz was the reader.
Casketbearers were Charlie Wighaus, Duane Schwartz, Robert Bergenheier, Nick Klemm, Rick Schwartz and Adrian Neurohr.
Burial was in the St. Ann Cemetery in Hebron, ND.
Barbara Ann was born February 15, 1921 at Gladstone, a daughter of Dominic and Catherine (Krug) Morel. She was raised and educated at Gladstone.
Following her school years she moved to Beach and worked as a waitress.
She married Matt Schwartz November 23, 1943 at Hebron. Following their marriage they farmed north of Hebron until 1970 when they moved to Mandan.
Matt died in July, 1971. Barbara continued to make her home in Mandan and in November of 1974 married Joe Sebastian.
She enjoyed dancing, quilting, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She was at one time a member of the Christian Mothers in Hebron and was a member of the Eagles.
She recently moved to the Medcenter One Health Care Center in Mandan. She died there Wednesday, January 25, 2006.
Those left to share her memory include her daughter Albertha "Bertie" (Jack) Kroh, of Mandan and their children Sandy (Stacey) Bauer and Mike (Joy) Kroh and her two sons - Gerald "Jerry" Schwartz, Eugene, OR and his children - Todd (Sherry) Schwartz; Will (Tracy) Schwartz; Joye (Jeff) Nuckolls and Matt Schwartz and her son Gaylen (Kollene) Schwartz, Cresent Valley, NV and his children Nancy Reimer, Teresa (Steve) Schwarzwalter, Jamie (Vicky) Schwartz, Gwen (Mark) Praus and the children of her deceased daughter Diane Jahraus - Gary Jahraus and Shawn (Yvonne) Jahraus.
She is also survived by her step daughter, Patricia (Ernie) Vollan, Bismarck and their daughter Cindy (Frank) Nickel; Barbara’s step son - Neil Sebastian, Buffalo, WY and his daughter Genia Boesplug.
Barbara leaves 21 great grandchildren and four sisters - Margaret Anton, Marie Schwartz and Betty Kubas, all of Dickinson; Irene (Felix) Childer, Miles City, MT and a brother Frank (Regina) Morel of Gladstone.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands Matt and Joe, one daughter:, Diane; five sisters - Eva Tormaschy, Katherine Klemm, Rose Pechtl, Anna Bergenheier and Regina Morel, a daughter-in-law Patricia Schwartz and two brothers, Carl and Joe Morel.
The family would like to send special thanks to the people from Hospice and everyone at Medcenter One Care Center who took such good care of Barb.
Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron, was in charge of arrangements.

Patrick Kottenbrock
Patrick "Pat" Kottenbrock, 41, Bismarck, died January 21, 2006 of natural causes.
Services were held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 26 at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Ed Wehner officiating.
Burial was in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck.
Pat was born March 16, 1964 in Bismarck, a son of Harold and Clem (Goldade) Kottenbrock.
He was raised and attended schools in Bismarck where he graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1982. Pat moved to Colorado where he managed a café.
He then began his plumbing career and worked as a pipe fitter and plumber most recently in the construction of the Wal Mart Store in Huron, South Dakota.
Pat enjoyed racing and was glued to the set when there was any racing sporting event on. He was fascinated by engines.
When Pat was little he would find any lawnmower he heard in the area and, imitating, would push a buggy until he got a lawnmower of his own.
Pat enjoyed the outdoors and had some great times hunting and fishing.
Pat is survived by his parents Harold and Clem Kottenbrock of Bismarck; his sisters - Loell (Duane) Portscheller, Debbie Leingang and MaryJane (Clark) Aman and his brothers, Jeff (Kathy) Kottenbrock and Joe Kottenbrock all of Bismarck.
He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Eastgate Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Walter Kokot
Walter Leo Kokot, 74, 5500 30th St. NW, Minot, ND died Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at his home.
Walter was born on September 26, 1931, to Frank and Mathilda (Jose) Kokot Sr. in Hebron, ND. He was raised and educated in Hebron. After school he worked with his father, Frank in the family coal mine in Hebron, ND.
Walter enlisted in the U.S. Navy on July 31, 1950 and was stationed in Norfolk, VA. He received an honorable discharge on May 27, 1954.
He was united in marriage with Lynn Banning on June 27, 1969, at Zion Lutheran in Minot.
He worked in the construction industry for fifty years. He worked for various construction companies including, Brezina Construction Company, Rapid City, SD, Bechtold Excavating, Minot, Haugen Construction, Minot and most recently at RoLac Contracting as a Superintendent in Minot.
Walter was a lifetime member of Nodak Race Club. He enjoyed taking care of horses, putting up hay, watching NASCAR on television with his family and always had a project in the works in his shop. But the time he loved most was the time spent with his children and grandchildren.
Our beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother and uncle will be greatly missed by all.
Walter is survived by his wife, Lynn and sons Dean, Minot, William, Minot, Charles, Lewisberry, PA, James, Minot and daughters Bonny (Jerry) Thomas, Burlington, ND, Teresa Hynson, Burlington, ND and Janice (Chris) Johnson, Billings, MT.
He also leaves his grandchildren Ashley and Mikhaila Hynson, Justin and Brianna Thomas, Emily and Lauren Johnson, a brother, Frank (Kathy) Kokot Jr., Livingston, MT and his sisters Mary (Ernie) Schantz, Hebron, ND, Frances (Bennie) Becker, Bismarck, ND and Doreen (Chan) Libbey, Livingston, MT plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Marlowe Banning, mother-in-law, Luella Banning, sister and brother-in-law Gertrude and Vincent Bleth.
His funeral service was held Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church, Burlington, ND.
Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.

Clara Martin
Clara Martin, 95, Fargo, ND, died Thursday, March 9, 2006 at Elim Care Center, Fargo, ND.
Clara Ida Matilda Mertz was born April 21, 1010, daughter of Jacob and Margaret (Losing) Mertz. She grew up on a farm in the Garrison, ND area, where she attended school through the fourth grade.
She later took correspondence and completed the eighth grade.
Clara married George Martin June 4, 1931 in the First Congregational Church in Hebron, ND. George died in September 2003.
Clara and George farmed northwest of Hebron. In 1968, after farming for 37 years, they retired and moved into Hebron. They moved to Fargo in 1993, where they entered Elim Care Center.
Clara was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Hebron. She played the piano, guitar and sang. She was a member of the church choir.
Clara enjoyed sewing and crafts. Even when she struggled with Alzheimers, she remained pleasant and had a positive attitude. She often stayed up late to read her Bible and had a strong faith.
Clara is survived by three daughters – Ruby (Larry) Leiss, Reynolds, ND; Olivia (Derald) Jones, Montrose, CO and LaVerne (Gerald) Ames, Fargo, ND.
She also leaves one sister, Frieda Minter, Pick City, ND and seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, a brother Jake Mertz and three sisters – Christina Beierle, Ella Marchek and Eva Mertz.
Her funeral service was held Monday, March 13, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, Hebron.
Burial was in the First Congregational Cemetery, Hebron.
Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, was in charge of arrangements.
