Louis Anderson
NEW ENGLAND -- Louis Elmer Anderson, 79, New England, died Aug. 14, 1996, in the Hettinger hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. MDT Saturday at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, New England, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, and one son, David, Michigan. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Alfred Johnson
BELFIELD -- Alfred L. Johnson, 90, Belfield, died Aug. 14, 1996, in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. MDT Monday at Belfield Lutheran Church. Further arrangements are pending at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Stanley Nice
WILLISTON -- Stanley Nice, 35, Williston, died Aug. 13, 1996, in the Williston hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Concordia Lutheran Church, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, both of Williston.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; three children, Tyler, Elena and Spencer, all at home; his parents, Stan and Helen Nice, Britton, S.D., and Pete and JoAnn Kavalski, Everett, Wash.; and his sisters, Anitta Jones, Williston, Christine Rice, Snohomish, Wash., and Penny Jepson, Puyallup, Wash. Paul Dady
Paul David Dady, 36, Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Mobridge, S.D., died in an automobile accident Aug. 13, 1996, in Colorado Springs. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mobridge, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Mobridge.

He is survived by two sons, Ryan and Austin, both of Colorado Springs; his mother, Sharon Dady, Mobridge; two brothers, Mark and Steve, both of Mobridge; and two sisters, Therese Sather, Omaha, Neb., and Cheryl Bertsch, Shoreview, Minn. (Larson's Funeral Home, Mobridge)

Evert Stephens
Evert "Bud" Stephens, 96, Missoula, Mont., died Aug. 14, 1996, in a Missoula hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. MDT Saturday at Ronan United Methodist Church, with the Rev. VaunDalee DeLong officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Bud was born Aug. 25, 1899, in Stanton, to Joseph and Mattie Stephens. He was raised in Hazen and married Gladys Zutt, Aug. 27, 1939, in North Dakota. The couple ranched in North Dakota until moving to St. Ignatius, Mont., in 1960. They ranched there until retiring to Ronan, Mont., in 1970. In 1989 they came to Missoula.

Bud was a member of Ronan United Methodist Church, Mission Saddle Club. He loved hunting, fishing and wildlife photography.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Nora, Missoula; one brother, Maynard, Ronan; one grandson and his wife, Kevin and Cheri, Missoula; and a great-grandson, Kiel Stephens, Missoula.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, on Feb. 23, 1990; five brothers; and one sister.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Livingston-Malletta and Geraghty Funeral Home, and will continue one hour before services at the church.

The family prefers memorials to Missoula Manor, 909 W. Central, Missoula, Mont. 59801, or to Partners in Home Care, 500 N. Higgins, Missoula, Mont. 59802.

Heidi Leuf
WASHBURN -- Heidi Leuf, 28, Washburn, died Aug. 14, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Washburn Baptist Church, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; one daughter, Kynder, at home; one son, Ridge, at home; four sisters, Holly Reid, Underwood, April Lorentzen and Tiana Lorentzen, both of Bismarck, and Vanessa Lorentzen, Mandan; one brother, John Lorentzen, Washburn; her father, Norman Lorentzen, Bismarck; and her grandparents, Henry and Grace Lorentzen, Washburn, and Arlie Field, Turtle Lake. Bertha Nagel
LINTON -- Bertha Nagel, 92, Linton, died Aug. 15, 1996, in the Linton hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton. Further arrangements are pending at Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Florentina Boehm
Florentina Boehm, 85, 1003 Second Ave. N.W., Mandan, died Aug. 15, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Eudora Steinke
Eudora M. Steinke, 84, Tuttle, died Aug. 14, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at English Lutheran Church, Tuttle, with the Rev. John K. Norby officiating. Burial will be in Tuttle Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Eastgate Steele Memorial Chapel.

Eudora Mathis was born Feb. 24, 1912, in Nashville, Ind., the daughter of William and Mary (McLary) Mathis. She was raised and educated in Nashville. Eudora married William H. Steinke, Dec. 25, 1952, in Nashville. After their marriage, they lived and farmed on his family's farm east of Tuttle. William died Oct. 14, 1980. Eudora continued living on the farm until moving into Tuttle in 1993.

She was a member of English Lutheran Church, and W.E.L.C.A. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, sewing, puzzles and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Darrell Himmelspach, Spring Grove, Ill.; one son and daughter-in-law, Kirby and Barbara Steinke, Tuttle; five grandchildren, Joshua and Adam Himmelspach, Spring Grove, Ill., and Joni, Casey and Jessica Steinke, all of Tuttle; three sisters and one brother-in-law; two brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and six brothers and sisters.

Verna Yeater
Verna "Bunny" Yeater, 80, Fargo, died Aug. 14, 1996, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Mark Bayert officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

Verna was born April 8, 1916, in Tappen, to Charles and Bessie (Billington) Olson. She attended Tappen schools. She married Willard Yeater, Oct. 24, 1936. During World War II, Bunny and Willard moved to Portland, Ore. to work in the shipyards. After the war, they returned to Jamestown, where she worked at Montgomery Ward Co. In 1952, after several years in Devils Lake, Bunny and Willard moved to Bismarck. She moved to Fargo in July 1996. In Bismarck, Bunny worked for Ace Hardware Store, and later for the State Department of Insurance until her retirement in 1970.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Darwin Powell, Rockford, Ill.; one son and daughter-in-law, Royce and Bridget, Fargo; seven grandsons, Jeff, Mark and Scott Powell, Aaron, Wyatt, Jared and Elliot Yeater; one great-grandson, Christopher Powell; one sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Cecil Wallner, Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother and two sisters.

The family prefers memorials to School of Hope, 235 W. Sweet Ave., Bismarck.

Florentine Boehm
Florentine "Flora" Boehm, 85, 1003 Second Ave. N.W., Mandan, died Aug. 15, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Church of St. Joseph, Mandan, with the Rev. Vincent Chembakassery officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Catholic Daughters rosary will be said at 4 p.m. today. A St. Vincent parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today, followed by a parish vigil at 7:30, both at the funeral home.

Florentine was born Aug. 4, 1911, in Shefield, the daughter of Jacob and Philomena (Mischel) Brittner. Her father died in 1921, and the family moved to rural Mandan after her mother's marriage to Frank Boehm. Frank was a widower with eight children. Flora completed her education at Crown Butte School, where she was the first graduate. She married John F. Boehm, Nov. 25, 1929, at St. Margaret Church, now St. Vincent's) at Crown Butte. They farmed the land homesteaded by his father until 1968 when they sold it to their son, Jim, and then moved to Mandan. John died Oct. 7, 1970. Flora continued to live in her own home until July 1996 when she was hospitalized.

Flora was active in the St. Vincent Church, belonging to the choir and Altar Society for many years. She joined the St. Joseph Church when she moved to Mandan and was a member of Catholic Daughters.

She is survived by six sons and daughters-in-law, Ron J. and Charlotte, San Leandro, Calif., Ed and Elaine, and James and Pat, all of rural Mandan, Joe M. and Beatrice, Huff, LeRoy and Marlene, Springfield, Ore., and John W. and Kathleen, Fort Rice; six daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Ted Urban, Mandan, Minnie and Bill Geiger, Nerina and Eddie Geiger, Carol and George Hagerott, and Mary and Ralph Fried, all of rural Mandan, and Leona and Jim J. Ressler, Bismarck; 73 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor and Emma Boehm; one brother-in-law, Jack Schmidt; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; two sisters, Eva and Sister M. Nerina; and four grandchildren.

Flora enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Her door was always open and she will be missed dearly by all. She will be most remembered for her easy-going personality and wonderful loving smile.

Judith Kuball
FARGO -- Judith R. Kuball, 83, Fargo, died Aug. 16, 1996, in a Fargo nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, Minn., with burial in Mayville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. today at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Judy Kuball, the daughter of Arthur Carroll and Ida Lura was born Jan. 20, 1913, at Mayville. She graduated from Mayville High School, then Mayville State Teachers College. She taught English at Mayville High School for a time, then moved to the Fargo area where she taught in area schools. She taught for approximately 25 years until retiring. Judy had been married to Maurice Holst and George Clausen. She married Alvin Kuball, March 15, 1975, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, and they lived in Fargo. Following her retirement, she worked for a few years as a receptionist at the Fargo YWCA. She enjoyed crafts, spending time with her grandchildren, and staying in touch with many of her former students.

Judy is survived by her husband, Alvin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Marlyn Wegge, Moorhead, and Karen and Dwight Kautzmann, Mandan; and six grandchildren, DeAnn, Don, Dreux, Jan, Mark, and Stacy and her husband, Todd.

John Knodel
MCCLUSKY -- John Knodel, 99, McClusky, died Aug. 16, 1996, in the Turtle Lake hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Drake, with burial in Drake Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

John was born June 22, 1897, in Eureka, S.D., the son of Fredrick and Fredericka Knodel. He grew up and attended rural school in the Eureka area. On June 28, 1922, he married Lydia Mehlhoff. He farmed in the Butte and Kief areas until his retirement in the fall of 1973. His wife died in May 1958. Shortly after retiring he moved to McClusky. Since the summer of 1992 he had been a resident of the Sheridan Memorial Home in McClusky.

He is survived by three daughters, Inez Kuch, Rapid City, S.D., Alma Peyton, Las Vegas, and Linda Zeller, Bartlett, Ill.; three sons, Melvin and Raymond, both of Bemidji, Minn., and Alvin, Temecula, Calif.; one sister, Martha Suckert, Minot; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Alvin Leno
NEW LEIPZIG -- Alvin Leno, 73, Hettinger, died Aug. 15, 1996, in the Hettinger nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Tuesday at Seventh-day Adventist Church, New Leipzig, with burial in Seventh-day Adventist Cemetery, Burt.

He is survived by two sons, Tom, Nantucket, Mass., and Bob, Cheyenne, Wyo.; three brothers, William, Washington, Lloyd, Longview, Wash., and Victor, Lusk, Wyo.; and one sister, Shirley Windmueller, Walla Walla, Wash. (Hertz Brothers Funeral Home, New Leipzig)

Hilda Vossler
ASHLEY -- Hilda D. Vossler, 89, Ashley, died Aug. 16, 1996, in the Ashley nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Ashley, with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

She is survived by one son, Marvin, Ashley; and two daughters, Wilma Reuther, Ashley, and Lorraine Murphy, Abberville, Ala. (Carlsen Funeral Home, Ashley)

BELFIELD -- Olga Baranko, 86, Belfield, died Aug. 16, 1996, in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be held at 9 a.m. MDT Monday at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Fairfield, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fairfield.

She is survived by two sons, Emil and Orest, both of Fairfield; five sisters, Lucille Ewoniuk, Phelan, Calif., Mildred O'Hara, Anaheim, Calif., Mary Powell, Oregon City, Ore., Cecelia Miller, Farmington, N.M., and Mabel Grosaluk, Billings, Mont.; and five brothers, Walter Evoniuk and August Evoniuk, Dickinson, Joseph Evoniuk and Steve Evoniuk Jr., Belfield, and Michael Evoniuk, Longmont, Colo. He is survived by his wife, Laura; three daughters, Diane Otterstetter, Coon Rapids, Minn., Audrey Bosch, Parker, Colo., and Deloris Lawrence, Monument, Colo.; four sons, Darrell, Wahpeton, Chuck, Colorado Springs, Colo., Donald, Breckenridge, Minn., and Clyde, Winner, S.D.; one sister, Ottelia Heupel, Wishek; and one brother, Oscar, Hecla, S.D. Irving Fitzsimmons
Irving Fitzsimmons, 58, Center, died Aug. 17, 1996, in Birchdale, Minn., as a result of a drowning accident. Arrangements are pending at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan.

Nick Bullinger
Nick Bullinger Jr., 49, Hensler, died Aug. 16, 1996, near his home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Spirit of Life Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Cyprian Meier officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with military rites by Mandan Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a St. Anthony Verein rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a parish vigil at 7:30.

Nick was born Nov. 22, 1946, in Mandan. He was the son of Nicholas Sr. and Frances (Bender) Bullinger. Nick was raised and educated in Mandan, graduating from Mandan High School in 1965. He married Carol Miller on Aug. 26, 1967, in Mandan. They lived in Mandan until moving to the original homestead of Carol's grandparents in 1982.

Nick had a love that was more special than words can describe. He was a hard-working man, working for Morrison Knudson, Boise, Idaho, as a pipefitter and welder and also as a rancher, raising cattle. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He had a soft heart for wildlife and also enjoyed hunting. He had a sense of humor, loved telling stories and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Nick had some rough times but made it through with the support of his family and friends. Thanks to a special brother, Ken, and brother-in-law, Robert, for all their help and effort in time of need. Other family members are also very special with all their support and help. There were so many things in Nick's life, too numerous to mention. He has such a special place in so many hearts where words are hard to describe. He will be greatly missed.

Nick is survived by his wife, Carol; two daughters, Shari and Nicole, both of Hensler; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Lucille, Jack and Frances, and Kenny and Colleen, all of Mandan, and Lawrence and Kitty, Davenport, Wash.; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Clara and Joe Hatzenbuhler, Bertha and Robert Schwartzbauer, and Irene Morrell, all of Mandan, Rose and Mike Wetsch, Roseburg, Ore., and Marlene and P.J. Schweitzer, Colorado; his mother-in-law, Emma Berger, Mandan; one sister-in-law, Alice Bullinger, Bismarck; one brother-in-law, Harold Miller, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada; 40 nieces and nephews; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Carla; one brother, Ben; and two sisters, Ann and Linda.
