Donald Egeland
RHAME -- Donald A. Egeland, 66, Rhame, died July 31, 1996, at his home. Services will be at 10 a.m. MDT Saturday, at First Lutheran Church, Rhame, with the Rev. Galen Strand and pastoral intern Phil Tobin officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery, Rhame.

Pallbearers will be Harold Johnson, Sherman Oakland, Dean Mack, Lowell Jones, Clayton Wallman, Johnnie Hendrickson, Willie Boyce and Gene Ruppert. Honorary pallbearers are deer hunters, friends and neighbors. Music will be provided by Marsha Lynn Lehmann, organist; and Sons of the Wagoneers.

Donald Egeland was born July 26, 1930, in Bowman County, the son of Leonard and Clara (Vatne) Egeland. He was raised on the family farm 11 miles southwest of Rhame. He received his education at the Sunset Butte School. He worked for his father and as a mechanic at the Parfrey Garage in Rhame. He later moved back home to farm and ranch. He married Doris Alexander Oct. 24, 1950, at Bowman. They farmed and ranched all their life, raising sheep and cattle, and for 31 years they have raised elk.

He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. He was a member of the North Dakota Elk Association, and served on the Sunset School Board and Farmers Union Elevator Board. He played guitar in the Dakota Playboy Band for nine years. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed his many hunting friends. His greatest love was his family, and he took so much pride in his grandchildren. There will be a void in his family and many friends' lives that he touched in his own unique and special way.

He is survived by his wife, Doris, Rhame; one son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Bobbi, Rhame; his mother, Clara, Bowman; two grandchildren, Cole and Alicia Egeland, Rhame; and two sisters, Marion Brewer, Bowman, and Helen Macjewski, Fountain Valley, Calif.

He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard; one infant son, Randy Lee; and one brother, Raymond Kulseth. (Krebsbach Funeral Service, Bowman)

Alvin Oster
Alvin Oster, 76, Lisbon, died July 30, 1996, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today, at Soldiers Home, Lisbon. Military honor guard services will be at 3:30 p.m., at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Alvin was born Oct. 12, 1919, near Medina, the son of Henry and Emma (Roemmich) Oster. He was raised in Canada and later lived near Tappen, where they farmed. He joined the North Dakota National Guard in October 1936 and was stationed in Wisconsin. While serving in the National Guard he was put on the active list and joined the Army in April 1941. He served in the European Theater of Operations until his honorable discharge in October 1945.

Alvin married Irene Nethercott July 10, 1945, in Devonshire, England. He farmed in the Sterling and Wing areas. In the 1970s he also did some iron work for various power plant companies, including the North Dakota missile bases. He moved to the Soldiers Home in Lisbon in 1990 and resided there until the time of his death. He loved hunting, fishing and working with his Angus cattle. He will be missed by all his family and friends.

He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Charles Freier, Cheyenne, Wyo., Patricia and Brad Brose, Gillette, Wyo., Kathy and Tim Stafford, Roset, Wyo., and Robin and Tom Taylor, Buffalo, Wyo.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Randy and Lois, Arena, and Terry, Missoula, Mont.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary and Rueben Fischer, Sturgis, S.D., Irene and Bill Gumble, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Freida Sitter, El Cajon, Calif.; one brother and sister-in-law, Rueben and Donna, Driscoll; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Eddie and Emil.

Timothy Stegmeier
CARRINGTON -- Timothy N. Stegmeier, 29, Rapid City, S.D., formerly of Carrington and Mandan, died June 19, 1996, in Hill County, Texas. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington. Burial will be in Carrington Cemetery.

He is survived by his father, Edgar, Mandan; his mother, Arlene Rodacker, Carrington; two brothers, Grant, St. Paul, Minn., and Craig, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Brenda Rodacker, Cedar Rapids, and Jessie Stegmeier, Mandan; and his grandmother, Gladys Nysted, Carrington. Erma Wolters
Erma A. Wolters, 87, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, died Aug. 1, 1996, in the nursing home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending.

Arthur Forsberg
Arthur Forsberg, 93, formerly of Kintyre, died Aug. 1, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck-Steele.

Robert Trowbridge
WILLISTON -- Robert A. Trowbridge, 41, Grand Junction, Colo., formerly of Williston, died July 10, 1996, the result of a swimming accident in Grand Junction. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, at Everson Funeral Home Chapel, Williston. Further arrangements are pending.

John Parizek
WILTON -- John E. Parizek, 78, rural Wilton, died July 31, 1996, at his home of natural causes. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Riverview Cemetery, west of Wilton.

He is survived by one sister, Emma Parizek, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

Helen Zimmerman
Helen Zimmerman, 57, rural Bismarck, died Aug. 29, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Boelter Funeral Home.

Raymond Miller
JAMESTOWN -- Raymond Miller, 68, Jamestown, died Aug. 28, 1996, in Jamestown. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bascilica of St. James, Jamestown, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown.

MOBRIDGE, S.D. -- Margaret M. Skye, 85, Arlington, Wis., formerly of Mobridge, died Aug. 27, 1996, at her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church, Shields, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by three sons, Clarence, Pierre, Joseph, San Antonio, Texas, and Douglas Jr., Houck, Ariz.; three daughters, Corrine Kills Pretty Enemy, Arlington, Donna Maday, Odanah, Wis., and Harriet Skye, Alexandria, Va.; and three sisters, Marie King, Jacksonville, N.C., Ruth Gilman, Bismarck, and Bernadine Merrill, Great Falls, Va. NEW TOWN -- Gilbert Eagle, 81, New Town, died Aug. 27, 1996, in the New Town nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Town Civic Center, with burial in Snow Bird Cemetery, rural New Town.

He is survived by one son, Gilbert, Albuquerque, N.M.; three daughters, Connie Price and Norma Staples, both of New Town, and Patty Eagle, Mandan; one brother, Virgil, Halliday; and two sisters, Allison Hall and Germaine Fox, both of Mandaree. (Johnson Funeral Home, New Town)

Grace Wisness
MADDOCK -- Grace M. Wisness, 94, Maddock, died Aug. 27, 1996, in the Rugby hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Viking Lutheran Church, rural Maddock, with burial in the church cemetery.

Rose Fandrich
WISHEK -- Rose Fandrich, 82, Wishek, died Aug. 28, 1996, in the Wishek hospital. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Wishek, with burial in Wishek Cemetery.

She is survived by three daughters, Judy Skogland, Twain Harte, Calif., Agnes Wheatley, Opelika, Ala., and Marcella Rudolf, River Bank, Calif.; two sons, Bernard, Jamestown, and John, Fargo; and one brother, Frank Feist, Waseca, Minn. (Haut Funeral Home, Wishek)

Peter Wickenheiser
Peter Wickenheiser, 67, Rapid City, S.D., died Aug. 4, 1996, in the Linton hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg. Further arrangements are pending with Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Joanne Heintz
HARVEY -- Joanne Heintz, 67, Harvey, died Aug. 3, 1996, in the Carrington hospital, after a 16 month courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at First Lutheran Church, Harvey. Burial will be in Chaseley Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 7:30 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Joanne Betty Hart was born April 19, 1929, on the family homestead, south of Chaseley, the daughter of Edward and Bertha (Barchus) Hart. She grew up there, attended rural school and graduated from the Bowdon High School in 1947. She then taught school in the Chaseley area. Joanne married Norman L. Heintz Aug. 18, 1950, at Chaseley. They lived in Emrick, Bowdon, Chaseley, Hurdsfield and in 1972 they moved to Harvey. They owned and operated Heintz Oil Company from 1961 to 1988.

Joanne was a member of United Methodist Church and church women's group in Harvey. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star at Fessenden and was a member and held offices in the Wells Eagles Auxiliary in Harvey.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Lucy, Grand Forks; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Terry Feickert, Goodrich, and Renee and Steve Lucas, Eden Prairie, Minn.; six grandchildren, Laura, Rachel and Rebecca Feickert, Claire Heintz and Rachel and Jacob Lucas; six brothers, Orval and Warren Hart, both of Chaseley, Myron Hart, Lubbock, Texas, Carrol Hart, Missoula, Mont., Clayton Hart, Mesa, Ariz., and Garry Hart, Newport News, Va.; and six sisters, Fern Flanders, Pettibone, Gladys Daniels, Fairfield, Calif., LaVern Malinski, Carrington, Arliss Koehler, Ottertail, Minn., Jean King, Philadelphia, Pa., and Kay Brackin, Walnut Creek, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward on March 9, 1970; her mother, Bertha on Feb. 3, 1989; her husband, Norman on Jan. 28, 1988; and one sister, Lois Houghton on Dec. 8, 1988.

Memorials are preferred to Chaseley Cemetery, United Methodist Church of Harvey or the American Cancer Society.

Alvin Gomer
HETTINGER -- Alvin H. "Al" Gomer, 66, Hettinger, died Aug. 3, 1996, in Hettinger. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Tuesday, at Hettinger Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Stephen M. Sherer officiating. Burial will be in Hettinger Cemetery.

Alvin H. Gomer was born Sept. 19, 1929, at Laurel, Mont., to Henry and Mollie (Krug) Gomer. He grew up there and graduated from Laurel High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and, following his discharge, attended Macalaster College in St. Paul, Minn. He worked for the railroad in his youth and began a career with Northern Pacific. He married Beverly Morrison in 1952 in North Dakota.

Al lived and worked for the railroad in Montana, Illinois and Minnesota. He moved to Hettinger in 1982, as train master with Burlington Northern and retired from the railroad after 37 years in 1984. Not being one to sit still, he began a mobile "mini donut" business and later traveled as a salesman for a promotional advertising company.

He married Gayle Martin Quail Aug. 2, 1982, in Hettinger. They established the Image Maker, a promotional advertising and printing business in Hettinger, and he continued to travel and operate the business until his sudden death.

Al was an active community member and will be remembered as a people person. He served as mayor of Hettinger and on various local, regional and state boards and commissions. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion, 40 et 8, West River Shrine Club and El Zagal Temple of the Shrine. He was a charter member of the Hettinger Lions Club, served with the Hettinger Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Committee and the Dakota Buttes Tourism Committee. He was a member of Hettinger Lutheran Church.

Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Gayle, Hettinger; two sons, Scott, San Antonio, and Kurt, Post Falls, Idaho; his father, Henry, Laurel, Mont.; five stepdaughters, Darla Quail, Williston, Debbie Bourne, Canton, S.D., DeVonna Murrin, Edina, Minn., Barb Sperlich, Brandon, S.D., and Stephanie Palmer, Sioux Falls, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Richard, Oviedo, Fla., and Kenneth, Bridge, Mont.; and two sisters, Dorothy Lorraine Rodreick, Laurel, and Virginia Gomer, Salem, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mollie (Krug) Gomer.

MOTT -- Connie Sullivan, 78, Mott, died Aug. 4, 1996, in the Hettinger hospital. Arrangements are pending with Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott.

Jack Tobias
Francis "Jack" Tobias, 60, Bismarck, died Aug. 3, 1996, at his home. Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Bismarck Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 4 p.m. until time of service, at the funeral home.

Jack Tobias was born Feb. 16, 1936, in Jamestown to Francis and Vietta (Homuth) Tobias. He worked at United Tribes Technical College until his death. He received a degree from Jamestown College in 1958 and a graduate degree from North Dakota State University in 1976. Jack was a member of Phi Delta Kappa. He was a high school principal at Plummer, Minn. from 1970 to 1982 and was in the Army from 1958 to 1960.

He is survived by his wife, Merna; one daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Leon Gay, South St. Paul, Minn.; one granddaughter, Amber Gay, South St. Paul; his mother, Vietta Tobias, Jamestown; one sister, Ann Godes, Bismarck; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francis.

Theodore Moser
JAMESTOWN -- Theodore Moser, 78, Jamestown, formerly of Medina, died Aug. 3, 1996, in a Jamestown nursing home. Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, at First Assembly of God Church, Jamestown. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.

He is survived by his wife, Esther L., Jamestown; four sons, David, Fargo, Arve, Lakeville, Minn., Ronald, Phoenix, and Dale, Devils Lake; one daughter, Shirleen Pettet, Jamestown; four brothers, Ernest, Oscar and Leon, all of Medina, and Albert, Bruster, Wash.; and two sisters, Alvina Munkers, Brooksville, Fla., and Leah Grenz, Gackle. Mildred Gallagher
Mildred S. Gallagher, 78, 1922 East Ave. D, Bismarck, died Aug. 2, 1996, in her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at First Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue one hour prior to services, at the church.

Mildred Zuber was born Sept. 24, 1917, on the family homestead near Edmonds, the daughter of Joseph and Sophie Zuber. She lived on the homestead and attended a country school through the eighth grade. As a young woman she moved to Chicago. Mildred married Lyle V. Gallagher Feb. 5, 1936. They lived in Chicago for several years and moved to Bismarck in 1940, where they settled to raise their family.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing and loving and caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Millie was a delightful, unselfish and giving person. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She leaves behind two sons and daughters-in-law, Lyle and Judy, and John and Cheryl, all of Bismarck; three daughters and one son-in-law, Marlene and Gary Deibert, and Faye Mildred Gallagher, all of Wausau, Wis., and Corinne Gallagher, Bismarck; one brother, Tony Zuber, Baltimore; two sisters, Sally Marchi, Chicago, and Frances Jaskier, Gackle; her grandchildren, Lyle's children, Carrie, Karla, Natalie, Michelle and Shawn, John's children, Cheri, Valerie, Julie and Marcie, and Marlene's children, Janet, Ted, Steve, Mark and James; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; one son, Don; one sister, Marie Ranos; and three brothers, Walter, John and Frank Zuber.

Joanne Heintz
HARVEY -- Joanne Heintz, 67, Harvey, died Aug. 3, 1996, in the Carrington hospital, after a 16 month courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, at First Lutheran Church, Harvey. Burial will be in Chaseley Cemetery.
