Vicki Skalsky
Vicki Skalsky, 71, Central City, S.D., formerly of Mandan, died Nov. 15, 1996, in the Deadwood, S.D., hospital. Services were Nov. 19 at at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, S.D.

She is survived by two daughters, Geraldine Bray, Lakewood, Colo., and Doloris Skalsky, Central City; one son, James, Lead, S.D.; two brothers, Florian Kuntz, Mandan, and Johnny Kuntz, Seattle; and four sisters, Emma Senger, Mandan, Jean Bailey, Bismarck, Annie Metzner, Fort Rice, and Tillie Masseth, Sumner, Wash.

SELFRIDGE -- Lee R. Harsche, 27, Selfridge, died Dec. 12, 1996, due to injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident near Shields. Arrangements are pending at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)

GARRISON -- Harlan Andrews, 61, Garrison, died Dec. 11, 1996, in the Turtle Lake hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Church of Christ, Garrison, with burial in Garrison Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Lorra; one son, Jeremy, Garrison; three daughters, Deborah Halvorson and Lynette Azure, both of Minot, and Nancy Cabagua, Albuquerque, N.M.; and one sister, Delores Starbeck, Minot. (Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison)

Ted Weispfenning
FREDONIA -- Ted J. Weispfenning, 74, Fredonia, died Dec. 12, 1996, in the Wishek hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Fredonia, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Mavis; two sons, Jeffrey, Bismarck, and Lebaron, Minnetonka, Minn.three sisters, Edna Weispfenning, Wishek, Alma Buerkle, Gackle, and Freida Buerkle, Kulm; and one brother, Ray, Sacramento, Calif. (Haut Funeral Home, Gackle)

Walter Dockter
GOODRICH -- Walter C. Dockter, 81, Goodrich, died Dec. 13, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Goodrich. Further arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Mabel Roberts
PARSHALL -- Mabel Roberts, 95, Parshall, died Dec. 12, 1996, in the Parshall nursing home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Parshall, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.

She is survived by two sons, Donald, Raub, and Larry, Los Angeles; and one daughter, Eunice Rostvedt, Minot. (Johnson Funeral Home, Parshall)

Virginia Trautman
JAMESTOWN -- Virginia Alice Trautman, 87, Jamestown, died Dec. 12, 1996, in Jamestown. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Eddy Funeral Home, with burial in Cleveland Cemetery.

She is survived by three sons, Richard, Chandler, Ariz., James, Jamestown, and Philip, Mesa, Ariz.; two daughters, Diane Blomquist, Bloomington, Minn., and Jean Wolsky, Apple Valley, Minn.; one sister, Margaret Trautman, Cleveland; and one brother, John McClung, Yucaipa, Calif.

Shirley Iron Road
Shirley M. Iron Road, 44, Cannon Ball, died Dec. 12, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital after a long illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cannon Ball School Gym, with the Rev. Casimir Paluck officiating. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth's Cemetery, Cannon Ball.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan. A rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the school gym.

Shirley Iron Road was born March 28, 1952, in Mandan. She was the daughter of Lyman and Monica (One Horn) Iron Road. Shirley grew up and was a lifelong resident of Cannon Ball, attending Oak Grove School. She graduated from Solen High School in 1970. She also attended Sitting Bull College from 1982-1984. She worked for various agencies, including Headstart, CHR Program and the Cannon Ball School. She loved to play bingo with her friends and relatives. Shirley married Frederick Black Cloud on Oct. 28, 1972, at Cannon Ball. They were married for 24 years.

She is survived by her husband, Frederick Black Cloud; one son, Lyman Black Cloud, Cannon Ball; her mother, Monica One Horn, Cannon Ball; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Leonica and Lyle Alkire, Selfridge, Carole and Basil Two Bears, Cannon Ball, and Doris One Horn, Cannon Ball; and two brothers, Joe Two Bears and Kevin One Horn, both of Cannon Ball.

She was preceded in death by her father and one daughter.

Lee Harsche
SELFRIDGE -- Lee R. Harsche, 27, Selfridge, died Dec. 12, 1996, near Shields due to injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Selfridge, with the Rev. Casimir Paluck officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue at the church one hour before services. A parish vigil will begin at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Lee was born Sept. 10, 1969, at McLaughlin, S.D., the son of Emmanuel and Kathleen (Landeis) Harsche Jr. He was raised and educated in the Selfridge area. On May 31, 1996, he married Joy Froelich at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan. Lee loved working with cattle and horses. He worked for area ranches and was employed by Becker ranch at the time of his death. He loved to listen and dance to country western music.

He is survived by one wife, Joy; one daughter, Kya; one son, Kol; his father, Emmanuel Jr., Rapid City, S.D.; his mother and stepfather, Kathleen and Jim Wetzel, Mandan; his grandparents, Emmanuel Harsche Sr., Shields, Wanda Browne, Bismarck, and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Landeis, Mobridge; one brother, Tracy Harsche, Rapid City; and one sister and brother-in-law, Shelly and Ivan Alyea, Bismarck.

Walter Dockter
GOODRICH -- Walter C. Dockter, 81, Goodrich, died Dec. 13, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Goodrich, with burial in Goodrich Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Walter was born June 4, 1915, on the family farm in Kidder County, near Tuttle. He was the son of Christian and Katherine (Bentz) Dockter. He grew up and attended rural school near Tuttle. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp and worked in Idaho and Montana. He entered the U.S. Army in 1941. He served in Asia and was discharged in December 1945. He married Betty Papke on June 30, 1947, at McClusky. They lived in Goodrich. He was a heavy equipment operator and maintainer operator for Sheridan County. He retired in 1980.

He enjoyed card playing, especially pinochle. He had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his former wife, Betty, Bismarck; three sons, Garland, Bismarck, Tim, Denver, and Burt, Mandan; four daughters, Karen Dockter, Bismarck, Joyce Case, Tallahassee, Fla., Dorinda Johnson, Mohall, and Rae Evans, Bismarck; nine grandchildren; one brother, Paul.

He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, Christ, August, Jacob, John, Fred, Adam, Rudy and Harold; and three sisters, Katherine Morlock, Martha Dockter and Maggie Dockter.

Elsie Kleingartner
KULM -- Elsie Kleingartner, 75, Kulm, died Dec. 13, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Congregational Church, Kulm, with the Rev. Ray Kapp officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Elsie was born Feb. 20, 1921, on the family farm in rural Logan County, near Fredonia. She was the daughter of Jacob and Fredericka (Lang) Riebhagen. Elsie grew up there and received her elementary education in a rural Logan County school near Fredonia. She continued to live at home until her marriage to William Kleingartner on Sept. 3, 1937, at Napoleon. They farmed five miles northwest of Fredonia for several years. They later purchased a farm home eight miles northeast of Kulm where they lived and farmed until 1976. In 1976 they purchased a home and moved to Kulm, where they have lived since.

Elsie was a member of First Congregational Church of Kulm, where she was active in the Ladies and Mixed Chorus, and the Dorcas Society. Elsie served as clerk for the Pamona View Township School Board for several years. She was very active with the Kulm Friendship Club and sang with the Friendship Chorus. Her hobbies included quilting, and she enjoyed music and singing.

She is survived by her husband, William; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Louise and Donovan Fey, Kulm, Kathleen and Kennard Kinzler, Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and Randa and Larry Gemar, Oakes; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Nancy, Bismarck; nine grandchildren, Randy and Renae Fey, Kimberly Wiebe and Kevin Kinzler, Jessie Markovic, Brita and Anika Kleingartner, and Nathan and Linsey Gemar; four great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Otto and Gertrude Riebhagen, Jamestown, and Gottfried and Lillian Riebhagen, Wishek; and one sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Vernon Hildebrand, Escondido, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Emma Brauer and Hilda Lautt. (Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Kulm)

She is survived by three sons, Marvin, Sycamore, Ill., Leo, Dickinson, and Harvey, Mandan; and four daughters, Viola Hummel, Mott, Betty Steckler, Richardton, Shirley Hoffmeyer, Richardton, and Jane Mayer, Richardton.
