Hilda Kuchynski
< DICKINSON -- Hilda Kuchynski, 63, Dickinson, died Feb. 10, 1997, in Bismarck after a battle with cancer. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. MST Friday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with the Rev. Jerry Kautzman officiating. Music will be provided by Doug Murphy and Claudia Zimmer, song leaders, with June Peters, organist. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson, where a Catholic Daughters rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday, followed by a prayer service at 7:30, lead by Steve Brannan.

Hilda Berger was born May 3, 1933, in Sioux County, to John and Frances (Beehler) Berger. She was raised in Fort Yates and the Selfridge area, and moved to Bismarck in her junior year of high school. On Aug. 11, 1955, Hilda married George R. Kuchynski in Mandan. In 1958 they moved to Dickinson where they actively farmed until their retirement in 1993.

She was a member of Good Neighbors Homemaker Club for 38 years, a member of Catholic Daughters, and an active 4-H leader while the children were involved.

She is survived by her husband, George; two sons and daughters-in-law, LaVern and Ronda, Bloomington, Minn., and Ervin and Cheryl, Bismarck; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and David Eckenrode, and Susan and Todd Bodvig, all of Bismarck, and Sharon and Dan McKelvey, Port Washington, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Jenny and Katie Kuchynski, Nicole and Andrea Eckenrode, Kelsey and Allison Bodvig, and Matthew McKelvey. Hilda was also excited about the upcoming arrival of two more grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and one sister.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials in Hilda's name to Trinity High School, Empire Road and Eighth Ave. W., Dickinson, N.D. 58601.

Willis Porsborg
Willis Porsborg, 86, 1725 N. Sixth St., died Feb. 10, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Center, with burial in Center Cemetery.

A prayer service will begin at 7 tonight at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Willis was born Feb. 4, 1911, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Andrew and Nelle (Willis) Porsborg. The family later moved to Fort Clark where he was raised and attended school. As a young man he worked with his father in the hide and fur business and in the creamery business at Center. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and worked in the Seattle shipyards. After returning to North Dakota, he was a heavy equipment operator on numerous construction projects in the upper Midwest, including the Garrison and Oahe dams, and for Peter Keweit and Sons on missile sites in the state. Later he operated construction elevators at various power plants, including the Milton R. Young plant near Center and at Coyote Station near Beulah.

Throughout his life his interests included cars, hunting, horses, dogs and especially friends.

jHe was very active in the Operating Engineers Local 49, and a life member of the Elks.

He is survived by his sister, Susan Albers, Bismarck; a niece and her husband, Inez and Gary Arman, Bismarck; a grand-niece, Heather Arman, St. Paul, Minn; a grand-nephew, Brian Arman, Bismarck; and many friends, including Florence Barnhardt, Bismarck.

Clarence Martin
LEFOR -- Clarence F. Martin, 67, Lefor, died Feb. 9, 1997, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Thursday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 725 W. 12th St., Dickinson, with the Rev. Lawrence Wagner officiating. Special music will be provided by June Peters, organist, and St. Elizabeth's Church Choir. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Elizabeth's Catholic Cemetery, Lefor.

Pallbearers will be Lee Mayer, Francis Mayer, LeRoy Reiner, Steve Reiner, Richard Lefor, Shane Mayer, Darwyn Mayer and Scott Reiner.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson, where Deacon Morris Martin will lead a prayer service beginning at 7 tonight. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services.

Clarence Martin, son of Paul and Katie (Hollinger) Martin, was born May 3, 1929, at Lefor. He attended Lefor schools and graduated from Lefor High School in 1948. On July 8, 1952, Clarence married Viola Mayer. They farmed and ranched the Martin family's original homestead. He coached Lefor High School basketball.

Clarence was a member of Lefor School Board, West Plains Electric Board, Statewide Rural Electric, Fr. Borski Assembly, and Elks No. 1137. He was the First Grand Knight of the Lefor Knights of Columbus, Faithful Navigator Fourth Degree, and first chairman of the Lefor Alumni Association. He was elected to the North Dakota State House of Representatives in 1974, and during this time he served as Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 1995 session. He was also a life member of St. Elizabeth's Parish in Lefor. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, arrowhead collecting and he especially liked being with people.

He is survived by his wife, Viola; one son and daughter-in-law, Francis and Cindy, Lefor; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie and Dan Haag, Richardton, and Lynne and Kurt Ridl, Dickinson; his mother, Katie Martin, Dickinson; four grandchildren, Shanna Haag, Brady Haag, Erika Ridl and Shay Ridl.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul; and one sister, Bernice Flohr.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Ruth Meier's Hospitality House, Right to Life, or the donor's choice.

Elizabeth Rath
STEELE -- Elizabeth Rath, 89, Golden Manor Nursing Home, Steele, died Feb. 10, 1997, in the nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MST Thursday at United Methodist Church, Tuttle, with the Rev. Marvin Winstryg officiating. Burial will be in Tuttle Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Steele Memorial Chapel, where a prayer service will begin at 7 tonight.

Elizabeth Aichele was born March 27, 1907, in Alacap, Romania, the daughter of Johann and Maria (Nitschke) Aichele. She came with her parents and other family members to the United States in July of 1913 to settle on a farm northeast of Tuttle. On Jan. 3, 1929, she married Jake J. Rath in Tuttle. The couple then farmed in the Tuttle community until the mid-fifties, when they moved into town. Jake died Jan. 2, 1981. Elizabeth continued to make her home in Tuttle until moving to the Golden Manor in Steele in December.

Elizabeth was an active member of Tuttle United Methodist Church. She held offices in the United Methodist Women and in the church school. A diligent student of the Bible, she taught the adult Sunday school class for many years.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Theodor and Bernice, Rock Lake, and Ray and Mavis, Bismarck; one daughter and son-in-law, Ruby and Art Meyer, Seattle; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Eichele, Lake Williams; a daughter-in-law, Lucille Rath, Lincoln, Neb.; and a sister-in-law, Lavina Aichele, Detroit Lake, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Leon; an infant daughter, Delores; three sisters, Rose Wetzel, Pauline Spitzer and Eva Rembold; and four brothers, William, John, Fred and Adam.

Helen Marquart
Helen Marquart, 60, Kennewick, Wash., died of cancer, Feb. 9, 1997, in her home. Memorial services will be held Thursday at St. Joseph's Church, Kennewick.

Helen was born July 10, 1936, in Dickinson, to Joseph and Emilia Daunhauer. She attended school in Killdeer. She married Anton ``Tony" Marquart in December 1957. She lived in Missoula, Mont., for 20 years, and was a foster parent for teen-agers. She later moved to Kennewick to be with her sons. She loved working as a child-care attendant at the bowling centers in the Tri-Cities, which she had done since 1978. She also did babysitting in her home for children she loved very much.

She was an avid crafts person and loved woodworking, especially at Christmas time when she could display her work in her yard for the kids. Helen will be remembered for her caring nature and her giving to others. She always looked forward to seeing her family and grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Don and Nancy, and Dwight and Janice, all of Kennewick, and Cam, Connell, Wash.; four loving grandchildren, Torry, Carmen, Donnie and Kelley, all of Kennewick; six sisters, Gladys Brandl, Lorraine Gerhart and Lorette Daniels, all of Missoula, Delores Klein, Bismarck, Violet Keller, Newman, Calif., and Betty Currier, St. Maries, Idaho; two brothers, Felix Daunhauer, Anaconda, Mont., and Eugene Daunhauer, Mandan; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony, in 1994; her parents, Joe and Emma Daunhauer; and just recently, a brother, Alfred Daunhauer.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice at 2108 W. Entiat Ave., Kennewick, Wash. 99336.

Clarence Flatlie
ANAMOOSE -- Clarence Flatlie, 79, Minot, died Feb. 10, 1997, in a Minot nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, with burial in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey.

He is survived by four daughters, Donna Otto, Medina, Marilyn Verbeke, Hartford, Conn., Betty Portaleos, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Florence Schmidt, Tilden, Neb.; five sisters, Gudrun Nordlie, Emma Bredine and Bernice Werlinger, all of Harvey, Selma Swanson, Anamoose, and Norma Dietrich, Minot; and three brothers, Melvin, Denhoff, Palmer, Drake, and Bill, Valley City.

Barbara Senger
LINTON -- Barbara Senger, 78, Linton, died Feb. 11, 1997, at her home. Arrangements are pending with Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Julia Fitterer

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday, at the funeral home.

Julia Margaret Fitterer was born Feb. 16, 1908 in Odessa, Russia, the daughter of John F. and Emily (Friedt) Fitterer. She was raised and educated in Mandan. Julia worked as a secretary for the Communication Workers of America.

She is survived by six nephews, Tom Fitterer, Tustin, Calif., George Fitterer, New Hope, Minn., Al Fitterer, Mandan, Jim Fitterer, Portland, Ore., Terry Phillips, Los Alamos, N.M., and Bill Phillips, Sheridan, Wyo.; and three nieces, Mary Fitterer-Smith, New Prague, Minn., Kay Phillips-Jones, Casper, Wyo., and Nancy Phillips-Robertson, Lander, Wyo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and three sisters.

Ethelene Yellow Earrings
Ethelene M. Yellow Earrings, 66, Little Eagle, S.D., died Feb. 8, 1997, in the Standing Rock hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Little Eagle Day School Gym. Further arrangements are pending with Kesling Funeral Home, Mobridge, S.D.

Kathryn Scrivens
JAMESTOWN -- Kathryn Scrivens, 86, Jamestown, died Feb. 10, 1997, in the Mandan hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at First United Methodist Church, Jamestown. Further arrangements are pending with Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

William McKinnon
William McKinnon, 75, Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Bismarck, died Feb. 7, 1997, in a Sioux Falls hospital. Services were held Monday, at Miller Funeral Home, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, both of Sioux Falls.

He is survived by his wife, Edith, Sioux Falls; one brother, Roger, Bismarck, and one sister, Jean Hough, Sioux Falls.

Verna Beck
DICKINSON -- Verna Beck, 62, Dickinson, died Feb. 10, 1997, at her home. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Saturday, at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending.

Bertha Wagner
Bertha Wagner, 83, Lodi, Calif., formerly of Hurdsfield, died Feb. 8, 1997, in a Lodi hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. PST Thursday, at Fairmont Seventh Day Adventist Church, Lodi. A memorial service will be held in the spring at Bowdon Country Seventh Day Adventist Church, rural Bowdon, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by one son, Gene, Lodi; and one daughter, Sherran Lane, Woodland, Calif. (Nelson Funeral Home, Fessenden)

Glen Salveson
Glen Salveson, 63, 1839 Allison Drive, died Feb. 12, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital of natural causes. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Joel Sherer officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Glen was born April 16, 1933, in Wildrose, the son of Carl and Della (Skistad) Salveson. He was raised in the Wildrose-Ray area, and graduated from Ray High School in 1950. He married Carol Anderson in 1951. They raised six children. He began working in the oilfield on the Clarence Iverson Discovery Well and remained in the oilfields until 1967. They moved to Bismarck and Glen worked for Jacobson and Sons Construction until 1983. They purchased and managed the No-Dak Motel in Bismarck for the next 13 years. In January 1996, they retired and purchased his lifelong dream, a lake home at Happy Acres at Pick City.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening and woodworking. His family was the love and pride of his life.

He is survived by his mother, Della Salveson; his wife, Carol; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Wayne Jacobson, Bismarck, Linda and Manley Truchan, Killdeer, and Julie and Sheldon Smith, Bismarck; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Bonnie, Mandan, Rodney and Lois, Bismarck, and Ronald and Natalie, Minneapolis; 17 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four brothers, Lloyd, Marland, Jerry and Curt; and one sister, Mary.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl; and one brother, Richard.

Richard Toliver
Richard K. Toliver, 86, Prairieview Nursing Home, Underwood, died Feb. 12, 1997, in the nursing home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Eastgate Funeral Service, with the Rev. Ernest Schafer officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Richard was born Jan. 14, 1911, in Wing, the son of Raymond and Edna (Fletcher) Toliver. He was raised and educated near Wing. He farmed near Wing for several years. He married Toni Kvasnicka, Nov. 17, 1952, in Minneapolis. They moved to Wilton in 1953. Richard continued his farming interests until moving to the Kensington in Bismarck in 1989. Richard and Toni moved to the Prairieview Nursing Home in the winter of 1990.

He is survived by one sister, Hazel Scott, Bismarck; two stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Clara and Robert Rasmussen, Regan, and Frances and Frank Manolovitz, Bismarck; five stepgrandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, including Thelma Schmidt, Salem, Ore., and Gerald Scott, Glendale, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Toni, in 1994; his parents; three brothers, Willard, Winfield and Paul; two sisters, Elsie Alice, in infancy, and Ruth Craven; and one step-great-grandson.

The family prefers memorials to Prairieview Nursing Home or the donor's choice.

Mark Feigert
Mark Louis Feigert, 45, Tempe, Ariz., died Feb. 11, 1997. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Lakeshore Mortuary, Mesa, Ariz.

Mark was born in Jamestown. He received a bachelor's degree from Lawrence University, Appleton, Wis., and a master's degree in music from Arizona State University.

He is survived by his companion, John Lodge, Fresno, Calif.; his parents, Louie and Etta Feigert, Bismarck; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Marsha Decker, Chandler, Ariz., and Deborah and Steven Bensen, Mayville; two nieces, Laurel and Andrea Bensen; and one nephew, Jeremy Bensen.

The family prefers memorials to Arizona AIDS Project, 919 N. First St., Phoenix, Ariz. 85004.

Barbara Senger
LINTON -- Barbara Senger, 78, Linton, died Feb. 11, 1997, in her home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by one son, Jerry, Linton; five daughters, Janice Paul and Gloria Kelsch, both of Linton, Darleen Koch and Alice Fischer, both of Bismarck, and Carol Glas, Duluth, Minn.; and four sisters, Katherine Hummel, Trail City, S.D., Ann Johs, Bismarck, and Rose Holzer and Theresa Mastel, both of Linton. George Burgad
NAPOLEON -- George S. Burgad, 89, Napoleon, died Feb. 11, 1997, in Napoleon. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie; one daughter, Sandra Malsam, Hosmer, S.D.; three brothers, Stephen, Missoula, Mont., Sebastian, Long Beach, Calif., and Joseph, Napoleon; and three sisters, Barbara Grant, Portland, Ore., Agatha Bastyr, Victoria, Minn., and Marian Carriveau, Apache Junction, Ariz.
