Al Gartner
Arlouis "Al" Gartner, 77, died Thursday, November 23, 2006 at Medcenter One in Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. CT Monday, November 27 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with the Rev. Sebastian Schmidt OSB, Celebrant.
Al was born October 28, 1929 in rural Glen Ullin, a son of Michael and Celestina (Steiner) Gartner. He was raised on the farm and educated in a one-room schoolhouse.
He married Laura Schaaf May 14, 1951 at Sacred Heart in Glen Ullin. They lived in Glendive where Al worked at the round- house for the then Northern Pacific Railroad.
They decided that country life was what they preferred and began farming. Al had set a goal of having a ranch of his own as he enjoyed working with livestock. They lived at several places along the way and settled on their present farm in 1977.
He enjoyed being involved in a number of community activities including the Glen Ullin Museum, Glen Ullin and Morton County Historical Societies, Morton County Farm Bureau, school board, Knights of Columbus and the local district Republican Party.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife Laura, Glen Ullin, ND, his daughter and son-in-law Perdita and Richard Murray, Depoe Bay, OR and sons and daughters-in-law Josh and Linda, Lance and Anissa, all of Glen Ullin and Keith and Virginia, Houston, TX.
He also leaves 18 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Al has one sister surviving, Mary Anderson, Dallas, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Frank, Joe, Ed, and John and his sisters Minnie Duppong, Agatha Miller and Kay Milliron.

Peggy Ulrich
Peggy Ulrich Hall, 62, of Hermitage, TN died Friday, October 20, 2006. She was born December 23, 1943 in Marianna, FL to the late Lt. Col. Alvin E. Ulrich and Irene F. Ulrich. Mrs. Hall retired from the Dept. of Veteran Affairs in Washington, D.C. in 1997.
She is survived by - David C. Hall; daughter - Leslie H. (Michael) Barr; grandchildren – Amber (Shane) Bay, Tabitha (Noe) Zaragoza; Great-grandchildren – Landon Wortham, Aarik Bay, Andrianna and Mariah Zaragoza
Sister – Beverly (Jack) Williams; Nephew – Jason Williams.
A graveside service was conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203.
Bond Memorial Chapel, N. Mt. Juliet Road and Weston Drive, Mt. Juliet, TN was in charge of arrangements.

Connie Vietz
Connie Ann Vietz passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 19, 2006 after a brief illness in Boise, Idaho.
Her funeral service was held Thursday, October 26 at 11 a.m. at the Idaho P.O.S.T. Academy in Meridian, Idaho.
Burial followed at the Dry Creek Cemetery.
Connie was born in the Magic Valley Hospital in 1963 to James Vincent Herd Jr. and Janet Ann Herd.
She spent a number of years in the Twin Falls area before moving to Utah.
From the time Connie was six weeks old she looked upon the world with open eyes and embraced life with gusto.
She stepped into life with her first steps at seven months of age.
In her youth, she attended schools in Idaho and Utah.
Connie participated in volleyball, basketball and softball. She excelled in academics and had a phenomenal memory.
Connie married her one true love and soul mate, Greg Vietz in June of 1982.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Utah in 1986. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Houston, College of Law in 1991.
Connie began her legal career as a deputy prosecuting attorney with Ada County in 1991. During her tenure with the office she served as the Chief of the Juvenile Division, a felony trial attorney, the Preliminary Hearing Team Supervisor, The Idaho Prosecuting Attorneys Association representative to the Idaho Legislature and the Screening Unit Chief.
She saw all the darkness of the valley but forever remained fair, dedicated, vigilant and optimistic.
She had a rapier wit that never ceased to amaze.
Connie was cherished, loved and respected by her husband, children, parents, sisters, relatives, friends, colleagues, law enforcement officers, members of the Idaho State Bar and the judiciary.
Connie’s greatest joy in life was being a mother. She believed her children were precious gifts. She taught her children to both embrace and engage wholeheartedly in life.
She shared many wonderful adventures with her husband and children.
Connie is survived by her loving husband, Greg, beautiful daughter Vanessa, remarkable son Stefan, parents Jim and Janet Herd, sisters Becky Stein and Jana Beyerlin, her brothers-in-law Adam Stein and Corey Beyerlin, niece Ariana Stein and nephew A.J.Stein, her grandmother Ann Nielsen, mother and father-in-law, Elaine and Norman Vietz as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Do not stand by my grave and weep, I am not there, I did not die.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Idaho Police Officers Memorial Fund % the Idaho P.O.S.T. Academy, 700 S. Stratford Dr., Meridian, Idaho 83642.
Services were under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel.

Fabian Woroniecki
Fabian Woroniecki, 77, Marian Manor Healthcare Center, Glen Ullin and formerly of Hebron, died Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at the Marian Manor.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 10 at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Hebron with the Rev. Sebastian Schmidt, as Celebrant.
Burial was in the St. Ann Cemetery.
Fabian was born March 15, 1929 on the family homestead north of Hebron in Mercer County, a son of Joseph and Anna (Rogowska) Woroniecki. He was raised on the farm and educated in rural schools.
He developed an interest in mechanical items and enjoyed working with machinery.
In 1972 he moved into Hebron and started a "bobcat" barn cleaning business and helped area farmers in the spring and fall as he enjoyed operating the tractors.
In his spare time he loved playing cards.
Because of deteriorating health he moved to the Marian Manor in Glen Ullin in 2002 where he has since lived.
Fabian is survived by sisters - Marie Milczarek, Kettle River, MN; Frances Cymbaluk, Dickinson, ND and Ann (Gene) Dombrowski, Schererville, IN and brothers - Joe J. and Florian (Gladys), both of Hebron and Steve (Arlene), Point Harbor, NC.
He also leaves a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters - Maggie Bliele, Wanda Elmer and Peggy Paschke and two brothers - Nick and John.

Elizabeth Nagel
Elizabeth Nagel, 93, Glen Ullin, died Friday, April 6, 2007 at her home in Glen Ullin.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Glen Ullin with the Reverend Chris Walstad, officiating.
Burial was in the Glen Ullin Cemetery.
Elizabeth was born December 24, 1913 at Bluegrass, ND, the daughter of Ludwig and Christina (Wetzel) Roemmich. She was raised and educated at Bluegrass.
Elizabeth worked on the family farm until she married Jacob Nagel October 27, 1935 at the Bethany Assembly of God Church at Bluegrass.
Following their marriage they farmed in the Bluegrass area. In 1942 they moved into Glen Ullin but continued to farm until 1971 when they retired.
Jacob died in 1972. Elizabeth continued to reside in her home in Glen Ullin until she was called to her eternal home in Heaven on Good Friday.
Grateful for having shared in her life are two daughters and sons-in-law - Betty and Fabian Fitterer, Glen Ullin and Lerrene and Erv Kroh, Bismarck, ND.
She also leaves two granddaughters - Lorene Hohbein and Sandy Roth and six great grandchildren - Kristin Olheiser, Mackenzie and Treyton Hohbein, Lesley Geers, Lacey Roth and Collin Roth.
She also leaves a sister, Sophie Weishaar, Mandan, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1972, an infant daughter Irene, brothers – Albert and Edmund and sister, Minnie Redmann.

Marvin Miller
Marvin Miller, 80, Mandan, and formerly of Hebron, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at Medcenter One in Bismarck.
His funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. CT Saturday, March 24, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hebron with Pastor Marcy Dawson officiating.
Burial was in the First Congregational Cemetery, Hebron.
Marvin was born January 12, 1927 at McIntosh, SD, the son of David and Alma (Hochhalter) Miller. He was raised on a farm south of New Leipzig and attended a rural school.
He worked on the farm until he married Irene Koepplin March 8, 1947 at Wibaux, MT.
Following their marriage they farmed for many years until 1962 when they moved to Hebron and Marvin went to work for the Hebron Brick Co.
In the early 1980’s, for health reasons, Marvin stopped working at Hebron Brick Co. and began Marv’s Hobby Shop, a wood shop where he enjoyed countless hours creating items out of oak.
In February of 2005 they moved to Mandan where they have resided since.
Marvin is survived by his wife Irene, Mandan and two sons - Darold (Marie) and James, both of Fargo, ND.
He leaves five grandchildren - Cody Miller, Sondra Johnk, Melissa French, Kari Triptow and Chad Miller, and seven great grandchildren.
He also leaves a brother, Harvey, Sheridan, WY and two sisters - Ruby Hoffman, Bismarck and Irene Link, Elgin, ND.
