Mathilda Gittel
GLEN ULLIN -- Mathilda Gittel, 96, Glen Ullin, died Nov. 28, 1996, in Glen Ullin. Services will be at 1 p.m. MST Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Glen Ullin, with burial in Glen Ullin Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Sunday and 9-11:45 a.m. Monday at Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Mathilda Bickel was born Jan. 13, 1900, at Bluegrass to John and Fredricka (Ellwein) Bickel. She was raised and educated in the Bluegrass area. She married Jacob Gittel on Jan. 13, 1921, at Otter Creek. They farmed in the Bluegrass area most of their lives. They moved into Glen Ullin after their retirement. Jacob died Feb. 3, 1963. Mathilda moved into Harmony Acres Housing in 1970 and resided there until entering Marian Manor Nursing Home in Glen Ullin in June 1996.

Her hobbies included writing news articles, gardening and helping people wherever she was needed. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and her family, and will be missed by many friends. Mathilda had a fulfilling life and was grateful for the little things in life.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, LWML, Ladies Aid, American Legion Auxiliary and was a volunteer member of Senior Citizens.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Chester, Glen Ullin, and Ray and Addie, Sacramento, Calif.; one daughter, Irene Skaley, Bismarck; one daughter-in-law, Alma Gittel, Bismarck; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Henry, Glen Ullin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Clarence; one daughter, Loretta; two grandsons, Bruce and Brian; four sisters; and four brothers.

Patton Hill
Patton Alexander Hill, the infant son of Bruce Hill and Peggy Glatt, 815 N. Fourth St., was born Nov. 27, 1996, and was called into service in the kingdom of God, also on Nov. 27.

Private family services will be at Boelter Funeral Home. He will be buried with his grandfathers in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

He is survived by his parents, Bruce and Peggy, Bismarck; his sister, Sammy Jo Glatt, Bismarck; his grandmothers, Christine Hill, Bismarck, Arlene Olson, Bismarck; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Norval A. Hill, and Jocelyn Olson.

In lieu of flowers and cards, the family asks prayers for Patton.

Hattie Hansen
GARRISON -- Hattie Hansen, 96, Garrison, died Nov. 28, 1996, in the Garrison hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison, with burial in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, Coleharbor.

Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Hattie was born Dec. 13, 1899, in Moorhead, Minn., to Nils and Charlot Olson. She moved with her family to North Dakota and settled at Underwood. She received her education in rural Underwood schools, and in 1918, attended Minot State Normal School to study a three-year course in teaching. She later taught at several grade schools in the Underwood area.

She married Niels Hansen in 1931. They lived and farmed in Malcolm Township until 1968, when they retired and moved into Garrison. During her years in the rural area, she was a member of Bethel Lutheran church and Bethel Ladies Aid. She lived at her home in Garrison until January 1994, when she became a resident of Intermediate Care Facility at Garrison Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and her parents.

She is survived by Norman and Edwin; and three grandsons.

Marlys Hochhalter
Marlys Jean Hochhalter, 66, 1405 E. Ave. B, died Nov. 28, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Jacquelyn Donner
REEDER -- Jacquelyn Donner, 71, Reeder, died Nov. 29, 1996, in the Hettinger hospital. Arrangements are pending at Walby Chapel, Hettinger.

Rosalia Lautt
WISHEK -- Rosalia Lautt, 93, Wishek, died Nov. 27, 1996, in the Wishek nursing home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Lehr, with burial in Lehr Cemetery.

She is survived by one son, Elmer, Lodi, Calif. (Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek)

Edwin Steffens
PETTIBONE -- Edwin L. Steffens, 86, Pettibone, died Nov. 28, 1996, in Pettibone. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

He is survived by his wife, Oleva. (Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown)

Juliana Drader
HARVEY -- Juliana Drader, 87, Harvey, died Nov. 29, 1996, in the Harvey hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Harvey. Further arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Alex Bosch
LINTON -- Alex J. Bosch, 76, Linton, died Nov. 29, 1996, in the Linton hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Anna; and one sister, Veronica Bosch, Bismarck. (Myers Funeral Home, Linton)

LINTON -- Regarda Fettig, 85, Linton, died Nov. 28, 1996, in the Linton hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton. Further arrangements are pending at Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Otto Aman
MOUND CITY, S.D. -- Otto Aman, 82, Mound City, died Nov. 29, 1996, in the Mobridge hospital. Arrangements are pending at Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Pearl Byrne
MOBRIDGE, S.D. -- Pearl Byrne, 74, Mobridge, died Nov. 28, 1996, in the Mobridge hospital. Services will be at Thursday at St. Bedes Catholic Church, Wakpala. Further arrangements are pending at Kesling Funeral Home, Mobridge.

Marion Hildebrant
BEACH -- Marion F. Hildebrant, 81, Beach, died Nov. 28, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Clifford Miller
Clifford Miller, 67, Eureka, Mont., died Nov. 27, 1996, at Eureka. He was born June 15, 1929, at Hazen, the son of Emmanuel and Martha Miller. He was raised and educated at Hazen.

Miller worked as a lineman throughout North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota until moving to Eureka in 1955. He had been employed as a lineman for Lincoln Electric Cooperative for many years, retiring in 1981.

He had been a member of Hold Cross Lutheran Church in Eureka.

Survivors include his wife, Vi of Eureka; a son, Curtis, Helena, Mont. Three daughters, Diane Hanson, Eureka; Deborah Trevino, Bellevue, Wash.; and Theresia Beckett, Spokane, Wash. Four sisters, Ruth Elwyn, Hazen; Eileen Keller, Williston; Eldora Siler, Hazen; and Laura Melhoff, Garrison; four brothers, Walter, Richardton; Elmer, Hazen; Larry, Bismarck; and Clarence, Santee, Calif; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be at the Nelson and Vail Funeral Home in Eureka from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. MST Sunday and until noon Monday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, with burial at Tobacco Valley Cemetery.

Katie Lang
Katie Stroh Lang, 86, Steele, died Nov. 1, 1996, in the Steele nursing home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tappen, with the Rev. William Russow officiating. Burial will be in Fisher Cemetery, Tappen.

Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Steele Memorial Chapel and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Katie was born July 15, 1910, the daughter of Jacob and Eva Stroh, in Neudorf, Russia. In 1912 she came with her family to the United States and settled in the Tappen area. She married Jake Lang on Nov. 15, 1938, in Steele. They farmed in the Tappen area and lived in Tappen. They were members of St. John's Lutheran Church. Jake died March 6, 1986. She moved to Golden Manor Nursing Home in June 1991.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Darold, Steele, Erwin and Mary Jo, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Melvin and Sherleen, Steele; seven grandchildren, Audrey Lang, Minneapolis, Cory Lang, Bismarck, Melanie Lang, Fargo, Joy Lang, Washington, D.C., Natalie Moch, Anoka, Minn., Michael Lang, Colorado Springs, Loren Lang, Bismarck; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rudy, Bismarck, and Adoph, Jamestown; and two sisters, Leona George and Emma George, both of Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Myrna Lang.

Katie was a gentle woman who loved her family and her home. Her garden was always large and well tended. She was dearly loved by her family, relatives and friends.

Mabel Herr
Mabel Herr, 45, 92 Benteen Drive, Lincoln, died Nov. 1, 1996, in the Mandan hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Washington Heights Community Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Randy Hall officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Mabel was born Aug. 11, 1951, in Lehr, the daughter of Emil and Katherina (Schlecht) Kauk. She was raised and educated in Lehr. On Oct. 30, 1971, she married Jerrold Herr of Wishek. Mabel worked at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center for 22 years.

She is survived by her husband, Jerrold; one son, Steve, Mandan; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Herman and Cletis Kauk, Wishek, Art and Verna Kauk, Jamestown, Paul Kauk, Manteca, Calif., Roland Kauk, Carrington, Noial and Tina Kauk, Bismarck; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Gordon Knoll, Venturia, and Leah and Dale Bittner, Lehr; and 17 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister.

RICHARDTON -- Tony Messer, 68, Richardton, died Nov. 2, 1996, at his home. Arrangements are pending at Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Kenneth Nielsen
NEW ENGLAND -- Kenneth Nielsen, 78, New England, died Nov. 3, 1996, in his home. Arrangements are pending at Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Edwin Olson
STEELE -- Edwin Olson, 91, Steele, died Nov. 2, 1996, in the Steele nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Luldmilla Schaefbauer
Luldmilla Schaefbauer, 65, Herreid, S.D., died Nov. 3, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Anna Kaufman
DICKINSON -- Anna Marie Kaufman, 81, Dickinson, died Nov. 1, 1996, in the Dickinson nursing home. Services will be at 11 a.m. MST Tuesday at St. Luke's Nursing Home, Dickinson, with burial in Gladstone Cemetery.

She is survived by two brothers, George Wieglanda and Emil Wieglanda, both of Gladstone; and two sisters, Catherine Enger, Gladstone, and Ellen Simon, St. Paul, Minn. (Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson)

Irene Hoyer
Irene Hoyer, 70, 911 N. 28th St., died Nov. 3, 1996, in her home. Arrangements are pending at Boelter Funeral Home.

Lorraine Rueb
WISHEK -- Lorraine A. Rueb, 61, Wishek, died Nov. 3, 1996, in the Wishek hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, with burial in Wishek Cemetery.

She is survived by one sister, Helen Meidinger, Lehr; and two brothers, Rubin Rueb, Wishek, and Orvin Rueb, Napoleon.

Vernon Hornberger
GOLDEN VALLEY -- Vernon Hornberger, 67, Golden Valley, died Nov. 2, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. MST Wednesday at Beulah Congregational Church, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

He is survived by his wife, Arliene; two brothers, Norman, Park River, and Donald, Smithville, Texas; and three sisters, Lucille Tysver and Leatisze Grosz, both of Hazen, and Marlyn Hornberger, Moorhead, Minn. (Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah)

Donald Hirchert
JAMESTOWN -- Donald Hirchert, 83, Jamestown, died Nov. 2, 1996, in Jamestown. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.

He is survived by his wife, Edith; two sons, Milton, Robinson, and Ernest, Cocoa Beach, Fla.; and one sister, Beulah Erman, Lodi, Calif.
