ASHLEY -- Martha J. Bertsch, 88, Ashley, died March 18, 1997, in the Ashley nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Carlsen Funeral Home, Ashley.

Bruce Tellman
GRAND FORKS (AP) -- Bruce Tellman, a businessman, reporter and radio personality, has died of an apparent heart attack while vacationing in Arizona. He was 53.

Mr. Tellman died Monday night at a hockey game in Phoenix.

He was reporter with The Bismarck Tribune and the Grand Forks Herald in the 1960s and 1970s. He has worked for KCNN Radio in Grand Forks in a number of on-air jobs since 1985.

Tellman also owned a restaurant in Grand Forks and was an avid sports fan.

Visitation was set for Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at Norman Funeral Home in Grand Forks. Services are scheduled 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks.

Beatrice Frederick
RICHARDTON -- Beatrice Frederick, 76, Richardton, died March 15, 1997, at her home. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. MST Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Richardton, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Joe; one daughter, Jolene Rohde, Bismarck; two brothers, August Fettig, New England, and Matthew Fettig, Bismarck; and two sisters, Tillie Cossette, Glendive, Mont., and Margaret Schroeder, Bismarck. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Alfred Kerzmann
COLEHARBOR -- Alfred C. Kerzmann, 71, Coleharbor, died March 17, 1997, in the Underwood nursing home. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Bonaventure's Catholic Church, Underwood, with burial in St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery, Garrison.

He is survived by one sister, Agnes White, Vancouver, Wash. (Goetz Funeral Home, Underwood)

Thomas Patterson, 65, Bismarck, died March 18, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at McVille Lutheran Church. Further arrangements are pending at Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home, McVille.

ANAMOOSE -- Katherine Buxa, 84, Anamoose, died March 17, 1997, in the Harvey nursing home. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Anamoose Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Moc Lehmkuhl

LINTON -- Rose Heer, 87, Bismarck, formerly of Linton, died Feb. 28, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Wada Brodala
DICKINSON -- Wada Brodala, 77, Dickinson, died Feb. 26, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson.

She is survived by one daughter, Irene Tuhy, West Bend, Wis.; and one sister, Anna Witkowski, Poland. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Ernest Remboldt
STREETER -- Ernest Remboldt, 85, Jamestown, died Feb. 27, 1997, in the Jamestown hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Streeter, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Viola; one son, Jerry, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and three sisters, Lydia Fischer, Fargo, Frieda Reeser, Prescott, Ariz., and Lenora Hoffer, Bismarck. (Haut Funeral Home, Gackle)

Harold Ness
MINOT -- Harold S. Ness, 77, Minot, died Feb. 26, 1997, in his home of cancer. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God Church, Minot, with burial at 2 p.m. Monday in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

Harold Stanley Ness was born Dec. 9, 1919, at Fargo, the son of Severt and Olga (Brendon) Ness. He was raised in Fargo and graduated from a Detroit Lakes, Minn. high school. Harold married Violet Olson, April 1, 1938, in Fargo. They made their home in Fargo. Mr. Ness enlisted in the U.S. Navy on April 28, 1944, and served in the Pacific Theater of operations. He was honorably discharged in November 1945. He began his career in law enforcement with the Fargo Police Department, and attained the rank of lieutenant within the traffic department. He accepted a position with the Great Northern Railroad Police in 1954 and at that time moved with his family to Williston. He was promoted to the position of division special agent in 1961 and transferred to Minot. He retired from Burlington Northern Railroad in 1983. Harold and Vi moved to Detroit Lakes in 1990, but returned to Minot in August 1996. For the past 14 years, Harold and Vi spent the winter months in Apache Junction, Ariz.

Harold had served as president of North Dakota Peace Officers Association in 1965 and was a lifetime member of that organization. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Ward County Law Enforcement Pistol Range and had received numerous awards, certificates and citations for his work in law enforcement. He served on the board of directors of the Minot Eagles Aerie and Souris Valley Men's Golf Association.

He is survived by his wife, Violet; three daughters and sons-in-law, Orlys and Myron Nilsen, Minot, Diane and Tom Davis, Bismarck, and Laurie and Lyle Hoeke, Milbank, S.D.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Pauline, Estancia, N.M., Ken and Deborah, Minot, and Stan and Robin, Newport Beach, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Fleissner, Rice, Minn.; and three brothers, Paul Ness, Detroit Lakes, and Curtis and Wayne Johnson, both of Aitkin, Minn.

The family prefers memorials to Trinity Hospice, Minot.

Rose Hermes
GLEN ULLIN -- Rose M. Hermes, 102, Glen Ullin, died Feb. 26, 1997, in Glen Ullin. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Thursday at St. John United Church of Christ, Hebron, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron, and will continue from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Marian Manor Chapel, Glen Ullin.

Rose was born Oct. 27, 1894, near Glen Ullin, to Rudolph ad Ursula (Roffler) Buchli. She was raised on the family homestead and attended country school. Her mother died when she was seven, so she remained home to keep the house and tend to her brothers and sisters. Rose continued to study on her own. She married Val Hermes, Oct. 19, 1916, in Wisconsin. They took up farming. Her husband suffered a stroke and had been an invalid for the 10 years prior to his death in 1937. Rose diligently cared for him at home and raised her family. Rose moved into Hebron in 1939 where she did housekeeping, taking care of sick people, and anything she could do to make a living. Rose lived in Hebron until entering Marian Manor Nursing Home in November 1982. Rose is the last of that Buchli generation.

She loved to crochet, write letters and be involved with card games.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and Fraun Verein.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Lila, Redman, Wash., and Alta Hermes, Albany, Ore.; one daughter and son-in-law, Bettina and Robert Molis, Dayton, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Linda Hermes, Mesa, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Rudolph; three brothers, Rudolph, Peter and Ulrich; and two sisters, Ann and Dora.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to St. John's United Church of Christ, Hebron, or Marian Manor Nursing Home, Glen Ullin.

Nellie Christensen
Nellie C. Christensen, 92, St. Vincent's Care Center, died Feb. 28, 1997, in the nursing home. Services will be held in Minneapolis.

Nellie is survived by one daughter, Barb Egan, Bismarck; and two sons, Robert, Richfield, Minn., and Charles, Bloomington, Minn. (Eastgate Funeral Service)

Joseph Wetsch
KILLDEER -- Joseph J. Wetsch, 78, Killdeer, died Feb. 28, 1997, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Killdeer. Further arrangements are pending at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Albert Klettke
KULM -- Albert E. Klettke, 82, Kulm, died Feb. 27, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Congregational Church, Kulm, with burial in Hillside Lutheran Cemetery, Kulm.

He is survived by his brother, Raymond, Kulm. (Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek)

Veronica Roy
LANGDON -- Veronica Roy, 84, Langdon, died Feb. 22, 1997, in the Osnabrock nursing home. Services were held Feb. 26 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Langdon, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Langdon.

She is survived by four sons, Glenn, Devils Lake, Dale, Superior, Colo., and Ronald and Terry, both of Bismarck; two brothers, Donald Hell, St. Cloud, Minn., and Kenneth Hell, Milwaukee, Wis.; and two sisters, Anna Fischer, Carmichael, Calif., and Violet Hammond, St. Cloud, Minn. Ardoth Moore
FORBES -- Ardoth Montgomery Moore, 68, Forbes, died Feb. 27, 1997, at her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Hoven Funeral Home, Ellendale, with burial in Ellendale Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Delbert; two sons, Terry Minard, Fargo, and Charles Minard, Mina, S.D.; one daughter, Candice Eberhart, Duluth, Minn.; two brothers, Rollie Montgomery, Lisbon, and R.G., Bozeman, Mont.; and three sisters, Evelyn Blecka, Sonota, Ariz., June Sousek, Denver, and Ruby Harris, Fargo.

Myrna Seghers
HANSBORO -- Myrna Seghers, 52, Hansboro, died Feb. 26, 1997, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Rock Lake, with burial in Hansboro Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Hunt; two daughters, Sandra Keranen, Guangchou, China, and Patti Kritzberger, Beulah; two sisters, Evelyn Cox, Sheridan, Mont., and Nonabelle Sheirer, Tacoma, Wash.; and three brothers, Jerry Hunt, Yelm, Wash., Richard Hunt, Rock Lake, and Orin Hunt, New Folden, Minn. Marvin Martin
Marvin Harold Martin, 66, Billings, formerly of Hebron, died Feb. 26, 1997. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST today at Evangelical United Methodist Church, Billings, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

He is survived by his wife, Grace; two sons, Dale, Bozeman, Mont., and David, Billings; three sisters, Adele Sailer, Dickinson, Shirley Leben, Bismarck, and Eileen Baesler, New Leipzig; and three brothers, Walter and Gordon, both of Bismarck, and Roger, Monroe, N.C. (Michelotti, Sawyers and Nordquist Mortuary, Billings)

Edwin Lundgren
KULM -- Edwin John Lundgren, 83, Kulm, died Feb. 28, 1997, in a Fargo hospital. He was born March 23, 1913, in Swede Township north of Kulm.

Funeral services will be held March 3 at 1:30 p.m. in the Kulm Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Arndt and Rev. Elmo Tahran officiating. Interment will be in the Swede Township Cemetery in the spring.

Survivors include his wife, June, Kulm, two sons, E. Brent and Susan Lundgred, West Fargo and Blaine and Deb Lundgren, Kulm; two daughters, Mrs. Gloria Gackle, Kulm, Mrs. Glenda Toay, Fargo; 10 grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Mildred Anderson, Mrs. Caroline Lundgren, Mrs. Rose Lundgren, Mrs. Esther Lundgren, all of Kulm, Mrs. Evelyn Lundgren, Kulm; one sister-in-law, Marion Lundgren, Kulm.

Arthur Shirley
ROBINSON -- Arthur Shirley, 96, Robinson, died March 18, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Robinson, with the Rev. John K. Norby officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Arthur was born Dec. 14, 1900, in Rothsay, Minn., the son of Gustav and Othilda (Weik) Shirley. In 1906 the family moved to a homestead southeast of Robinson. Art attended rural schools near Robinson and farmed there until moving into town where he worked for a number of years with Saltness Electric.

He was a member of Robinson Community Chorus and the Men's Chorus called the Wellsmen. He was also a member of the Rifle Club for many years and was one of their best marksmen. He was a member of the Wildlife Club, Lions Club, Robinson Senior Citizens Club and was a fireman. Art was an avid outdoorsman, and especially enjoyed goose and deer hunting, and fishing in the summer and winter. Art was the oldest surviving charter member of Robinson Bethany Lutheran Church.

He is survived by four sisters, Hilda Otto, Jamestown, Agnes Glock, Bismarck, Edna Shufford, Portland, Ore., and Evelyn Giese, Steele; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Melvin and Kay, Fresno, Calif., Gilbert and Marge, Bismarck, and Glen, Underwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and two brothers.

Denis Orville
SCRANTON -- Denis Orville Hansey, 74, Scranton, died March 17, 1997, in the Sturgis, S.D., hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Friday at Peace Lutheran Church, Scranton, with burial in Bowman Cemetery.

He is survived by two sons, Terril, Lead, S.D., and Gail, Scranton; two daughters, Deana Zaccardi, Tucson, Ariz., and Gwyn Hansey, Dickinson; one sister, Delores Swanson, Federal Way, Wash.; and two brothers, Laurel, Bowman, and Meryl, Wahpeton. (Krebsbach Funeral Service, Bowman)

WILLISTON -- August Schmiginske, 91, Williston, died March 18, 1997, in the Williston nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethel Lutheran Home, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, both in Williston.

He is survived by one son, Robert, Williston; and one daughter, Carol Bibler, Dallas, Ore. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

GRENORA -- Elvira White, 94, Grenora, died March 19, 1997, in the Crosby nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Grenora. Further arrangements are pending at Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Thomas Patterson
Thomas Earl Patterson, 65, Bismarck, died March 18, 1997, in Bismarck. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at McVille Lutheran Church, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.

He is survived by one son, Dave, Eden Prairie, Minn.; two daughters, Lori Patterson, Orland Park, Ill., and Jill Patterson, Grand Forks; his mother, Helen Patterson, McVille; and three sisters, Carol Harris, Soda Springs, Idaho, Judy Twete, McVille, and Kathy Twete, Fargo. Elizabeth Frajola
Services for Elizabeth G. Frajola, 81, West St. Paul, Minn., were held March 15.

She is survived by one brother, John Berger, Mandan; and one sister, Mary Simson, Mandan.
