John Weber
John M. Weber, 85, 406 First Ave. N.E., Mandan, died March 1, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with burial in Mandan Union Cemetery. The Rev. Robert E. Feeney will officiate.

Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. Monday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will begin at 7 p.m. Monday.

John was born Dec. 18, 1911, in Mandan, the son of Marzelious and Regina (Weber) Weber. He was raised and educated in Mandan. He married Cecelia Schaaf, June 5, 1939, in Glen Ullin. John worked for the North Dakota Highway Department for 30 years. He was an equipment operator for the department and for many years supervised summer employees who were hired to help maintain trees in the Bismarck-Mandan area.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John J. and Merlina Lu, Mandan; one daughter, Arlene Rana, Poca, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Dr. F.R. Rana, Cincinnati, H.R. Rana, South Charleston, W.Va., Neal A. Weber, Mandan, and Melissa J. Weber, Mandan; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Lipp, West Fargo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cecelia, who died April 26, 1989; three brothers; two sisters; and one son-in-law.

Elma Hannegrefs
EPPING -- Elma Hannegrefs, 85, Epping, died March 1, 1997, in the Williston hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending at Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Milton Hart
Milton E. Hart, 67, 1302 Portland Drive, died March 1, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Lenora Christianson
LISBON -- Lenora Christianson, 91, Lisbon, died Feb. 27, 1997, in the Lisbon hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Lisbon, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon. (Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon)

MADDOCK -- Mandy Nilson, 83, Maddock, died Feb. 28, 1997, in the Rugby hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. William's Catholic Church, Maddock. Further arrangements are pending at Nelson Funeral Home, Maddock.

Aaron Bauman
BEULAH -- Aaron Bauman, 17, Beulah, died Feb. 28, 1997, of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Beulah. Services will be at 10 a.m. MST Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Beulah. Further arrangements are pending at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.

Max Linster
DICKINSON -- Max Linster, 81, Dickinson, died March 1, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Mary Raden
Mary Eva Raden, 87, Moorhead, Minn., died Feb. 28, 1997, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Enderlin United Methodist Church, with burial in Enderlin Cemetery.

She is survived by one son, Merlyn Dagman, Bismarck; and two daughters, Janice Sedlvec, Moorhead, and Phyllis Himmerick, Fargo. (Korsmo Funeral Home, Moorhead)

Rose Hermes
GLEN ULLIN -- Rose M. Hermes, 102, Glen Ullin, died Feb. 26, 1997, in Glen Ullin. Services will be at 2 p.m. MST Thursday at St. John United Church of Christ, Hebron, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron, and will continue from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at Marian Manor Chapel, Glen Ullin. A prayer service will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at the nursing home.

Rose was born Oct. 27, 1894, near Glen Ullin, to Rudolph and Ursula (Roffler) Buchli. She was raised on the family homestead and attended country school. Her mother died when she was 7, so she remained home to keep the house and care to her brothers and sisters. Rose continued to study on her own.

She married Val Hermes, Oct. 19, 1916, in Wisconsin. They took up farming. Her husband suffered a stroke and had been an invalid for the 10 years prior to his death in 1937. Rose diligently cared for him at home and raised her family.

In 1939 Rose moved into Hebron, where she took various jobs to make a living, including housekeeping and caring for the ill.

Rose lived in Hebron until entering Marian Manor Nursing Home in November 1982. Rose is the last of that Buchli generation. She loved to crochet, write letters and be involved in card games.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and Fraun Verein.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Lila, Redman, Wash., Donald and Alta Hermes, Albany, Ore.; one daughter and son-in-law, Bettina and Robert Molis, Dayton, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Linda Hermes, Mesa, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Rudolph; three brothers, Rudolph, Peter and Ulrich; and two sisters, Ann and Dora.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to St. John's United Church of Christ, Hebron, or Marian Manor Nursing Home, Glen Ullin.

Joseph Wetsch
KILLDEER -- Joseph J. Wetsch, 78, Killdeer, died Feb. 28, 1997, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. MST Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Killdeer, with the Rev. Jerry Ruelle and Jerry Kautzman officiating. Music will be provided by Sharon Hansen and Elvis Kadrmas, soloists, with Lisa Beckman, organist. Burial will be in Killdeer Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Merlin Dahl, Michael Dettmann, Brad Seifert, Jim Wetsch, George Wetsch, Joe Kautzman, Dan Kautzman and Todd Wetsch.

Honorary pallbearers will be all of Joe's grandchildren.

A prayer service will begin at 3 p.m. today at Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Killdeer, where a prayer service will be said at 7 tonight. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services.

Joseph J. Wetsch was born April 3, 1918, in Judson, to John Sr. and Agatha (Anton) Wetsch. He attended rural school. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Crown Butte. He farmed on the family homestead until 1947. On Feb. 15, 1947, he married Lois M. Dettmann at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Crown Butte. He worked for Hutter Construction in Bismarck until 1949. The family moved to Killdeer in May 1949, and he started Wetsch Construction. He retired in 1978.

Joseph and Lois celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 15, 1997. Joe was a resident of Hill Top Home of Comfort, Killdeer at the time of his death.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and a life member of Elks. He served on the Killdeer City Commission, Town Criers and was a volunteer fireman. He loved to play cards, fish, read and garden. His greatest joy was his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; one son, Pat, Killdeer; four daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Dennis Buchholz, New Salem, Penny and Barry Lee, Killdeer, Jodi and Kent Carlson, Killdeer, and Jaci and Gary Melgaard, Gillette, Wyo.; nine grandchildren, Arika, Kory, Cara, Justin, Klay, Jonny, Lynae, Jamie and Sean; one sister, Veronica Friedt, Mandan; one sister-in-law and her husband, Veronica and Val Schafer; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; three sisters; and twin daughters in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Killdeer Ambulance Service or the donor's choice. (Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson)

Louise Cotter
Louise E. Cotter, 76, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, died Feb. 28, 1997, in the nursing home. Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steve Zastoupil officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Louise was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Bismarck, the daughter of John E. and Anna (Gruenberg) Elich. She was raised and educated in Bismarck. In 1940 she moved to Joliet, Ill., and married Bill Cotter in April 1944. Louise worked for J.C. Penney in Joliet, where she was the manager of sportswear. After their retirement, Bill and Louise moved to Bismarck in 1977.

Louise entered Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in July 1993.

She is survived by two sisters and one brother-in-law, Anne Footitt, Moorhead, Minn., and Peggy and Vic Schaffer, Bismarck; one niece; and five nephews.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in January 1985; and one brother.

Rose Heer
Rose Heer, 87, Bismarck, died Feb. 28, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Linton, with the Revs. Alan Steier and Arthur Fischer officiating. Burial will be in Linton Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today Myers Funeral Home, Linton, and will continue at the church one hour before services. A prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Rose was born Dec. 15, 1909, near Mound City, S.D., the daughter of Henry and Rosina (Schuler) Goehring. She was christened Caroline Rosina after her mother and grandmother. She was raised in the Mound City area and moved to Linton at an early age. She worked for several families in the Linton area.

She married Fred Heer, Nov. 15, 1932, in Linton. They spent their life working together on their farm west of Temvik.

Rose was a wonderful homemaker and cook. She was always a willing helpmate to her husband on the farm and her family was the center of her life. Rose was proud of her children and devoted to the welfare of her grandchildren. She became a member of First Baptist Church in Linton in 1953.

Last fall, Rose and Fred moved from their farm home of almost 50 years, to Bismarck. There she made new friends and learned to use modern appliances. On Tuesday, Feb. 25, she suffered a stroke.

She is survived by her husband, Fred; her son and daughter-in-law, Fred F. and Madeline, Bismarck; her daughter, Violet Bienek, Plymouth, Minn.; and her grandchildren, Dacian and Jean Ann Bienek, Grand Forks, Michael and Bill Bienek, Warren, Minn., and Cody Heer, Bismarck; two sisters, Louise Ohlhauser and Elizabeth Humann, both of Hazelton; and three brothers, Reuben, Jamestown, Andrew, Lodi, Calif., and Edwin, Gilroy, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Katie Backhaus.

Helen Hill
BOWMAN -- Helen A. Hill, 66, Bowman, died Feb. 26, 1997, in a Minneapolis hospital after a short illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. MST Monday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Bowman, with the Rev. Charles Zins officiating. Burial will be in Tuttle Cemetery, Rhame.

A wake service will begin at 7 tonight at the church.

Helen Agnes Schneider was born Jan. 19, 1931, at Rhame, the daughter of Frank Jr. and Pauline Kruzich Schneider. She grew up on the family farm 10 miles north of Rhame and attended grade school at Deep Creek School. She attended New England St. Mary's High School, graduating with honors in 1948. After graduation she worked for the Bank of Rhame, Farmers Equity Elevator of Rhame, Bennett Drug and the Red Owl Store. She was united in marriage to Donald Hill, May 21, 1952, at St. Mel's Catholic Church, Rhame. The couple resided in Rhame before moving to Bowman in 1955.

She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters, Altar Guild, St. Anne's Circle, American Legion Auxiliary and served as the coordinator for the Natural Foods Co-op for many years. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers and her strawberry patch.

As a mother, Helen had enough love for her children and many others who entered their home. Her family was very important to her. Helen especially loved and enjoyed her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons and one grandson.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; three sons and daughters-in-law, Commander Donald D. and Susan, Kenosha, Wis., Mark and Carol, Minneapolis, and Duane and Karla, Bowman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Farrell Lorge, Amidon, and Mary and Pat Wangler, Fargo; seven grandchildren, Sarah and David Hill, Kenosha, Wis., Helen, Matthew and Paul Lorge, Amidon, Morgan Wangler, Fargo, and Jessica Hill, Bowman; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Mary, Dickinson, and Harold and Norma, Bismarck. Katherine Bullinger
Katherine Bullinger, 70, 213 S. Prairie Lane, Mandan, died March 26, 1997, in her home. Services will be at 10-30 a.m. Monday at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Cyprian Meier officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Catholic Daughters rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Sunday, followed by a parish vigil at 4:30.

Katherine (Markel) Bullinger was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Rosebud, the daughter of Peter and Florence (Erhardt) Markel. Katherine attended schools in the Judson area. She married Edward Bullinger, Nov. 12, 1945, in St. Anthony. She worked as a noon duty supervisor at Mary Stark Elementary School in Mandan for several years.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Edward J. and Kim, Bismarck; seven daughters and six sons-in-law, Shirley Kuller, Gloria and Lamont Unterseher, JoAnn and Harry House, Florence and Douglas Bauer, and Kay and Scott Way, all of Mandan, Brenda and Rick Kriedeman, Center, and Edna and Bob Crowell, Turtle Lake; 14 grandchildren, Sherry Kuller, Monty, Camaie and Steve Unterseher, Dustin and Daren Bauer, Bob W. and Buck Crowell, Rhonda and Sara Jo Kriedeman, Dylan and Erik Way and Edward III and Christopher Bullinger; two great-grandchildren, Brandy Unterseher and Emily Cole; four brothers, Pete, John, Connie and Steve, all of Mandan; and one sister, Florence Schaaf, Mandan.

A special thanks to Vi Keys, Nancy Ferr, Loretta Muth, Doris Schwenk and Joel Snider. Katherine also was very fond of her two special pets, Missy and Katy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward, who died Dec. 2, 1978; three brothers, Joe, Clem and Ignatz; and two sisters, Ann and Minnie.

Dr. Blaine Amidon
FARGO -- Dr. Blaine F. Amidon, 79, Fargo, died March 27, 1997, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Fargo, with entombment in Riverside Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo.

Blaine Amidon was born Sept. 9, 1917, in Lafayette, N.Y. He grew up in East Syracuse, N.Y., where he attended both high school and college. He went on to Syracuse University, where he received his medical degree as well as an undergraduate degree in the liberal arts. Upon graduation, Blaine was an intern at City Hospital in New York City. He married Virginia Neff, Aug. 6, 1943, at Carlisle, Pa. Following his intership, Blaine went through basic training in the U.S. Army in Carlisle, Pa. He then spent seven months at Camp Shelby, Hattiesburg, Mich. He was sent overseas with the U.S. Army medical corps for two years. Blaine landed at Utah Beach on D-Day, was injured, and later received the Purple Heart.

Following World War II, he returned to New York City where he served his first two residencies in OB/GYN and pathology at City Hospital. Blaine served a third residency in Cleveland, Ohio, in OB/GYN. In 1950, Dr. Blaine Amidon moved to Fargo and became the 13th doctor to serve at Dakota Clinic. He was a co-founder of Dakota Hospital on South University Drive, where he served as chief of staff. He is known for delivering more than 18,000 babies throughout his career. Dr. Amidon was known for being a pioneer of laser surgeries in the state of North Dakota. He also was a member of the Board of Directors at Dakota Clinic. He served as head of the North Dakota Maternal Mortality Committee for more than 20 years.

Blaine was involved in the Fargo community. He spoke at various presentations in the Fargo-Moorhead area, some of which dealt with osteoporosis, as well as maternal mortality. In 1962, Blaine won the North Dakota State Fencing Championship.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; one son, Blaine Amidon III, Edmonds, Wash.; three daughters and one son-in-law, Diane Amidon, Ashland, Ore., Sherry and Craig Fideler, Bradenton, Fla., and Cathy Amidon, Holmes Beach, Fla.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Larry Ross, Windsor, Ontario, and Virginia and William Beasley, Syracuse; and seven grandchildren.

The family prefers memorials to Hospice of the Red River Valley and American Cancer Society.

Gladys Scheidt
BEULAH -- Gladys M. Scheidt, 90, Beulah, died March 28, 1997, in the Beulah nursing home. Services will be at 10 a.m. MST Tuesday at Immanuel Baptist Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Howard Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, south of Beulah.

Serving as pallbearers will be John Scheidt, Al Kirchmeier, Jerry Hauff, Rory Schuh, Bruce Kirchmeier, Bryan Kirchmeier, Kyle Kirchmeier and Rich Schuh.

Gladys was born Sept. 5, 1906, in Isanta County, Minn., the daughter of Arthur and Anna (Sevallius) Erickson. In March of 1910, Gladys moved with her family to Mercer County and attended rural school south of Beulah. After finishing school she moved to Bismarck and worked at the Bismarck Hospital. On Jan. 11, 1927, Gladys was married to John Scheidt in Stanton. They farmed south of Beulah until John died in 1965. Gladys retired from the farm and moved into the city of Beulah in the fall of 1965. She entered Knife River Care Center, Beulah, on July 3, 1992.

Gladys was an avid gardener, she loved the outdoors, making rugs, spending time with her grandchildren and visiting with people. She was a very giving and caring person. Gladys was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Aplin Homemakers Club and a charter member of Clay Butte Homemakers Club.

She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Vivian and Herman Hauff, Beulah, Willa Jean and George Weaver, Wheatland, Wyo., Carol and Chris Kaelberer, New Salem, and Darlene and Raymond Schuh, Bismarck; one son and daughter-in-law, Herb and Esther Scheidt, Beulah; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd Erickson, Beulah; one sister, Marian Phillips, Oregon City, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; three brothers, Roger, Edward and Russel Erickson; three sisters, Frances Wangen, Esther Voegele and Bernice Erickson; and one granddaughter, Kathy Evans. (Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah
