Mabel Rowland
Mabel I. Rowland, 91, Patterson Place, died March 29, 1997, in her home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, with the Rev. Keith Odney officiating. Burial will be in Dawson Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mabel was born Aug. 23, 1905, in Dawson, the daughter of William and Louise (Koestler) Rowland. She was raised and attended school in Dawson, where she graduated from high school. She taught in a country school for a year prior to working at the Steele school as a librarian, as well as teaching. Mabel then worked in the AAA office in Steele. She also worked as deputy county superintendent and deputy county auditor. She moved to Jamestown, where she owned and operated the Swanee Motel with her sister and her husband. She moved to Bismarck in 1977. She entered Patterson Place in 1986.

Mabel is survived by two nieces, Constance Trautman, Bismarck, and Sandra Kay, Orcas Island, Wash.; three nephews, Michael Rowland, Montevalle, Ala., Gary Rowland, Kansas City, Mo., and Jim Rowland, Asbury, Mo.; and one sister-in-law, Esther Rowland, Asbury.

Karen Bredine
HARVEY -- Karen Bredine, 53, Harvey, died March 28, 1997, in her home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Harvey, with burial in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; one daughter, Susan Rieger, Esmond; one son, Lynn, Harvey; her mother, Bertha Hoffer, Minot; six sisters, SandraLou Frantsvog, Sharon Hoffer, Margaret Rodgers and Lynette Stensby, all of Minot, and Elaine Hartzell and LindaLee Close, both of Helena, Mont.; and four brothers, Lyle Hoffer, Stanley, Jeffrey Hoffer, Mandan, and Loren and Joel Hoffer, both of Minot. BEULAH -- Louise Goetz, 91, Beulah, died March 28, 1997, in the Beulah nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.

Garvin Mengel
WILLISTON -- Garvin Mengel, 58, Williston, died March 27, 1997, in his home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Everson Memorial Chapel, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston.

He is survived by his mother, Bessie Mengel; one sister, Sharon Olson, Williston; and two brothers, Steven, Oakland, Calif., and Stuart, Denver.

Myron Glandt
VALLEY CITY -- Myron Glandt, 67, Valley City, died March 28, 1997, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church, Valley City, with burial in Memory Gardens, rural Valley City.

He is survived by his wife, Ila Jean; two sons, Terry, Valley City, and Paul, Denver; and two daughters, Jane Skolness, Denver, and Carla Leingang, Lincoln; . (Peterson-Johnson-Schuldt Funeral Home, Valley City)

Hazel Burns
WATFORD CITY -- Hazel B. Burns, 85, Watford City, died March 27, 1997, in the Williston hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Watford City, with burial in Zoar Cemetery, rural Arnegard.

She is survived by one sister, Alice Rogness, Plano, Texas. (Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City)

GARRISON -- Anna Marie Hummel, 89, Garrison, died March 28, 1997, in a Minot hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garrison. Further arrangements are pending at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.

Bonnie Duchene
TURTLE LAKE -- Bonnie Duchene, 56, Turtle Lake, died March 29, 1997, at her home after a long illness. Services will be at 7:30 a.m. Monday at Goetz Funeral Home, Turtle Lake, with burial in Turtle Lake Cemetery.

She is survived by her mother, Mary Blevins, Bay City, Mich.; one son, Dan, Turtle Lake; three daughters, Annette Costa, Panama City, Fla., Cheryl Ferdig, Gladwin, Mich., and Linda Miller, Panama City; one sister, Mary Hages, Huntsville, Ala.; and one brother, Jim Blevins, St. Louis.

Ramona Bearquiver
NEW TOWN -- Ramona Bearquiver, 84, New Town, died March 25, 1997, in her home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Twin Buttes Community Hall, with burial in Beaver Creek Cemetery, rural Twin Buttes.

She is survived by two sons, James Jr., Redding, Calif., and Ron, New Town; two daughters, Irdelle Fetzer, Clovis, N.M., and Wanda Bulletti, Sacramanto, Calif.; one brother, August Little Soldier, Golden Valley; and one sister, Lillian Klaudt, Atlanta. (Johnson Funeral Home, New Town)

Reinhold Hein, 75, Bismarck, formerly of Wing, died March 29, 1997, in a Bismarck nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Hensel
DICKINSON -- Elizabeth Hensel, 101, Dickinson, died March 29, 1997, in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be at 3 p.m. MST Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by three daughters, Anna Kolling and Betty Schneider, both of Dickinson, and Josephine Ridl, Bloomington, Minn.; two sons, Joseph Hensel Jr., Minneapolis, and John Reisinger, Tacoma, Wash.; and one sister, Theresa Sohm, Salem, Ore. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Rhoda Hendrickson
MICHIGAN -- Rhoda L. Hendrickson, 89, Michigan, died March 28, 1997, in her home. Services will be at 10-30 a.m. Monday at Michigan Lutheran Church, with burial in Center Church Cemetery, rural Michigan.

She is survived by four daughters, Eleanor Benson, Underwood, Betty Kroke, Michigan, Marilyn Reep, Bismarck, and Donna Kallestad, Grand Forks. (Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home, McVille)

DICKINSON -- Tim Herold, 40, Dickinson, died March 30, 1997, in Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending at Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Anna Hummel
GARRISON -- Anna Marie Hummel, 89, Garrison, died March 28, 1997, in a Minot hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garrison, with burial in Garrison Cemetery.

She is survived by one son, Leonard, Minot; and one daughter, Willa Ann Butler, Sun Valley, Nev. (Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison)

Louisa Goetz
BEULAH -- Louisa Goetz, 91, Beulah, died March 28, 1997, in the Beulah nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. MST Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by one son, Ted Hertz, Fort Collins, Colo. (Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah)

Eddy Connell
Eddy Connell, 87, Bismarck, died March 30, 1997, in the Mandan hospital. Arrangements are pending at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Evelyn Jung
VALLEY CITY -- Evelyn Jung, 82, Valley City, died March 27, 1997, in the Valley City nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown.

Visitation will be at the church one hour before services.

Evelyn Mitzel was born Jan. 30, 1915, at Hague, the daughter of Jacob and Eva Marie (Silvernagel) Mitzel. She attended rural schools near Hague. She married Anton Jung, Jan. 26, 1933, at Hague. She worked in the Hague area for a short time until they moved to Zeeland, where they lived for seven years. They moved to a farm near Chelsea, S.D., and then to Aberdeen, S.D., where they lived from 1940 to 1952. They moved to Jamestown in 1953. Anton died in 1988, and Evelyn continued to live in Jamestown until she entered Sheyenne Care Center.

She was a member of Basilica of St. James and the St. James Tabernacle Society.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Lyle Rott, Jamestown; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Peggy, Valley City; four grandchildren; four sisters, Rose Werlinger, Fargo, Barbara Welder, Mobridge, S.D., Ellen Gabriel, Bismarck, and Frances Volk, Ipswich, S.D.; and three brothers, Leo and Joe, both of Sun City, Ariz., and Adam, Mobridge, S.D.; one brother-in-law, Anton Klein, Mandan; and one sister-in-law, Bernice Mitzel, Scottsdale, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters and two brothers. (Lisko Funeral Home, Jamestown)

Aaron Bauman
BEULAH -- Aaron Bauman, 17, Beulah, died Feb. 28, 1997, of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Beulah. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beulah, with the Rev. James Reardon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Miner Wrestling Team and Aaron's Search family. Serving as active pallbearers will be Randy Gordon, Steve Brannan, Casey Scherer, Greg Mongeon, Brandyn Wiedrich, Aaron Knodel, Presley Lalimo, Randy Mittleider and Troy Eisenbeis.

Visitation will be from 1-6 p.m. today at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah. A vigil and rosary will be held at 7 tonight at the church.

Aaron was born Nov. 1, 1979, at Bismarck, a son of Ricky and Valerie (Herman) Bauman. He was raised and attended school in Beulah until recently, when he began attending Dickinson Trinity High School, where he was a junior. He was active in football, wrestling, band, choir, swing choir, FFA, drama, speech, student council, student congress, Teens for Life, and the AAU Freestyle Wrestling Organization. In June 1996, he went to Poland with Team USA -- AAU Freestyle Wrestling. Aaron loved to play guitar, sing and write music. Attending Search and spending time with his Search family were very important to him. He was a member of the National Humanities Council and was selected to attend a weeklong seminar in Minot to study literature. Aaron was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beulah, where he was active in youth ministry and music. He was a mentor and friend to all who knew him well. One of Aaron's special gifts was his deep and strong faith.

He is survived by his parents, Rick and Val, Beulah; three brothers, Chris, Fargo, and Mike and Scott, both at home; his grandparents, Violet and John Jochim, Beulah, and Delilah and Melvin Herman, Pick City; his aunts and uncles, Randy and Loretta Bauman, Ron and Tammy Bauman, Roger and Cathy Bauman, Renae and Kelly Hausauer, Johnny and Michel Jochim, Jolene and Ryan Rust, Vance and Margaret Herman, Vicky and Peter Charpentier, and Vernon, Curtis and Cory Herman; special friends, Ken, Cherie and Brant Roshau, Dickinson, Vanessa Morman, Beulah, and Monika Platek, Poland; and numerous cousins, Search family and schoolmates.

Aaron was preceded in death by his grandfather, Melvin "Bud" Bauman.

Milton Hart
Milton Hart, 67, 1302 Portland Drive, died March 1, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Erik Boye officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Milton was born Dec. 21, 1929, in Werner, the son of Elmer Eugene and Willa Bernice Hart. He was raised and educated in Werner. Milton served in all three Armed Forces, the Army, Navy and Air Force, with 22 years of total service. In September 1947, he enlisted in the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Rochester in Norfolk, Va. He retired from the U.S. Air Force on July 1, 1968. Milton served in the Korean War and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Evangeline Schlag, July 28, 1956. They made their home in Bismarck where Mick was employed with General Services Administration from 1972-1994. He retired in December 1994. After retiring from GSA he did volunteer work at the North Dakota Humane Society. His favorite pastime was playing with and caring for animals.

He is survived by his wife, Evangeline "Van;" one son and daughter-in-law, Pat W. and Ruth, Bismarck; one daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Brad Kalka, Drayton; five grandchildren, Mindy, Jesse and Alicia Hart, Bismarck, and Ross and Taryn Kalka, Drayton; one brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Edna Hart, Bismarck; and one sister-in-law, Lauree Hart, Bismarck.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Neal and Tom.

Elma Hannegrefs
EPPING -- Elma Hannegrefs, 85, Epping, died March 1, 1997, in the Williston hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston.

She is survived by her husband, Walter; four daughters, Angela Reisnouer, Devils Lake, Carolyn Horgan, Williston, Shirley Schumacher, Bismarck, and Laurel Evans, Williston; two sons, David, Williston, and Stephen, Max; and one sister, Leonard Anderson, Williston. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Lenora Christianson
LISBON -- Lenora Christianson, 91, Lisbon, died Feb. 27, 1997, in the Lisbon hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Lisbon, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon. (Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon)

Mandy Nilson
MADDOCK -- Mandy S. Nilson, 83, Maddock, died Feb. 28, 1997, in the Rugby hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. William's Catholic Church, Maddock, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, rural Maddock.

He is survived by his wife, Violet; four sons, Gary, Maddock, Michael, Andover, Kan., Lynn, Fargo, and Darren, Phoenix; three daughters, Deborah Feist, Tacoma, Wash., Corlyce Wallner, Fargo, and Mary Ann Stael Von Holstein, Moorhead, Minn.; three sisters, Vera Benson, Maddock, Marlain Vanhoff, Seattle, and Jane Thompson, Bend, Ore. (Nelson Funeral Home, Maddock)

Larry Mertz
HURDSFIELD -- Larry Mertz, 38, Hurdsfield, died March 1, 1997, in his home of cancer. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hurdsfield Lutheran Church. Further arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Lois Agnew
MENOKEN -- Lois F. Agnew, 84, Menoken, died March 2, 1997, in the Garrison nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Peary Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Menoken Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Lois was born Oct. 15, 1912, at Dickinson, to Frank and Stella (Rhodes) Frohlech. She was raised in Dickinson and was a Golden Graduate. Her father ran a grain elevator in Dickinson. They moved to Menoken where he managed the Occident Elevator. She married John Agnew in 1940 in Glendive, Mont. They lived at Menoken where they farmed and ranched. John died in 1990.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Nanci, Menoken; one sister, Helen Heinenmeyer, Redland, Calif.; one brother, Jack, Stockton, Calif.; one granddaughter and her husband, Tamara and Chad Hagen, Fargo; and one grandson, Sean Agnew, Menoken.

Bernard Deckert
ARENA -- Bernard B. Deckert, 72, Arena, died March 1, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1-30 p.m. Wednesday at Mission Evangelical Free Church, Wilton.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Gideons.
