Ruth Kinnischtzke
Ruth Kinnischtzke, 83, Glen Ullin, died Thursday, September 6, 2007, at the Marian Manor Health Care Center in Glen Ullin.
Her funeral service was held Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. CT at the St. John Church in Hebron.
Burial was in the St. John Cemetery in Hebron.
Ruth was born March 11, 1924, on a farm north of Glen Ullin, the daughter of Jacob B. and Christianna (Ritter) Voegele. She was raised on the farm and attended school at Frazer District #1.
Ruth worked in a grocery store in Beulah until her marriage November 4, 1947 to Oscar Kinnischtzke at the Glueckstahl Church north of Glen Ullin.
Following their marriage they began their life on the farm. They retired in 1973 and in 1977 moved into Glen Ullin. Ruth enjoyed her garden and flowers, making loom rugs and baking Christmas cookies.
She was a member of the St. John Church, Women’s Guild, Haymarsh Homemakers and served as a longtime volunteer at the Marian Manor Nursing Home.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her sons Duwayne and his wife Joan, Glen Ullin, Allan, Glen Ullin and daughter Darlene Kinnischtzke, Bismarck.
She leaves her brothers Eugene Voegele, Beulah, ND, Milton and Alvin Voegele, both of Bismarck and an uncle Fred Voegele, Bismarck.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Oscar who died November 25, 1978 and four brothers - Ted, Bill, Otto and Dan.

Sheila Boehm
Sheila Boehm, 49, Minot and formerly of Hebron, died Friday, September 14, 2007, in a Minot hospital.
Sheila was born May 22, 1958, in Richardton, ND, to Bernard and Arlene (Redlinger) Pfenning. She was raised and educated in Hebron.
Sheila was united in marriage to Gerald Boehm June 4, 1976 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Mandan, ND.
Following their marriage they lived in Hebron, Zap, Kenmare and Minot. Sheila worked for Dakota Drug, Mann’s Automotive, Sykes and Super 8 Motel.
She enjoyed reading Danielle Steel books, embroidery and shopping. Her greatest joy was her family.
Sheila was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ.
Her loving family includes her husband of 31 years, Gerald, Minot; her son Jeremy (Jessica) Boehm, Minot and grandchildren Taylor, Lane, Madison, and Jenna.
She also leaves her mother Arlene Pfenning, Hebron, brother Gaylen (Sharon) Pfenning, Hebron; niece Suzann (Ryan) Scheid, Mandan; great niece, Morgan Scheid; great nephew and god son, Lance Scheid and numerous cousins.
Preceding her in death were her father, Bernard Pfenning and infant son, Jessie Boehm.
Her funeral service was held Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in the Congregational United Church of Christ, Minot.
A family service was held Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home.
Memorials are preferred to the Congregational United Church of Christ.

Helen Crowley Freda - Florence Crowley Dyson
Helen Crowley Freda died in San Francisco, CA Thursday, June 7, 2007. Her sister Florence Crowley Dyson died Friday, November 2, 2007 in Medford, OR.
Both Crowley sisters were born in North Dakota – Florence on September 23, 1923 and Helen on July 19, 1925. They were the daughters of Jack and Ruby Crowley, Hebron, ND.
Florence graduated from the Hebron High School in 1941 and Helen graduated from the Hebron High School in 1943.
Helen Freda
Helen’s husband Angelo (Al) Freda died several years ago. They leave a daughter, Diane, who lives in San Francisco, CA and is a kindergarten instructor.
Helen was a registered nurse and worked in Grand Forks, ND, Tennessee, Fort Bragg, CA, Hawaii and in other locations.
Florence Dyson
Florence died in Medford, OR, November 2, 2007. She was a resident of Rogue Valley Manor, a large home for the elderly in Medford.
Her husband George Dyson died several years ago. They had no children.
Florence worked for the weather bureau in Chicago and had jobs in other locations. They lived in Hawaii for years.
Helen and Florence both grew up and lived on their parent’s, Jack and Ruby Crowley’s Hereford Ranch, near Hebron.
They had six brothers and sisters – Bob, Margaret, Frank, Allan, Jim and Dorrie. All are deceased with the exception of Dorrie who lives in Pendleton, OR.

Ida Boehler Fischer
Ida (Boehler) Fischer, 95, Bismarck, passed away peacefully and comfortably in hospice care at the Baptist Home in Bismarck December 29, 2007.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Clyde Leimberer officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck.
Ida was born to Frederich and Katherina (Behler) Boehler in a sod house August 14, 1912 in Mercer County, north of Hebron, North Dakota. She began first grade in a "big one-room brown school house" not far from the family homestead and finished eighth grade in another Mercer County school.
After her marriage to Richard "Dick" Fischer May 30, 1939, the couple left for Oakland, CA, for a few years where Ida did various kinds of work including housekeeping and waiting tables.
After the Pearl Harbor attack of 1942, Ida and Richard returned to North Dakota and took up farming.
In 1954 they moved to Bismarck where Ida worked well into her 80s and lived out her many remaining years.
She was a member of the Bismarck Baptist Church since 1956 where she was active in the Ladies Society and other church groups. She said she loved her church. Ida was known for raising big and bountiful gardens and over the years put up thousands of jars of delicious fruits and vegetables that she always shared with family, particularly her wonderful dill pickles.
She was also a baker and cook of renown, whose kitchen produced culinary delights savored by friends and family alike. She always looked forward to company, especially family, grandchildren and great grandchildren and fed them well. To Ida, sharing food was sharing love.
She and Dick greatly appreciated the small luxuries they allowed themselves such as bus tours of the United States and Canada. Ida exemplified the prairie pioneer spirit of self-reliance, strength and grit.
She is survived by her son Gaylen (Patricia) Fischer of Bettendorf, IA; sister-in-law, Lorraine (Herbert) Boehler; two brothers-in-law, Ted and Walter Fischer and a daughter-in-law, Mary (Virgil) Boehler.
Ida leaves seven grandchildren - Scott Boehler, Livingston, MT, Kevin (Karen) Boehler, Cartwright, ND, Cole (Marilyn Irey) Boehler, Butte, MT., Mark (Lisa Caye) Boehler, St. Paul, MN, Mary (Boehler) Miller (Tim Miller), Glendive, MT, Kim Ann (Boehler) Koenig (Dan Koenig), Ronan, MT and Lisa (Boehler) Skalsky (Todd Skalsky), Polson, MT.
She also had 20 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son, Virgil Boehler; step-son Clyde Fischer and seven brothers and four sisters.

Paul Oster
Paul C. Oster, 88, Dickinson formerly of Gladstone, ND, died Sunday, December 30, 2007 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson.
Paul’s Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton with Fr. Boniface Muggli, OSB as the celebrant. Interment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Paul C. Oster was born January 4, 1919 on the family farm north of Gladstone in Dunn County, the son of Paul Sr. and Ida (Muth) Oster. He was raised and educated in the Gladstone area.
Paul married Hattie Kovash on October 16, 1944 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, New Hradec, ND. They farmed together north of Gladstone on Paul’s parent’s homestead.
Paul enjoyed going for walks, playing the accordion, watching the animals, playing cards and bingo, listening to music, and the time spent with his family and grandkids visiting and telling stories.
Paul is survived by five daughters - Patricia (Jerry) Mackey and Rosemary (Cliff) Weiler, Gladstone, Diana (Delmer) Entze, Dilworth, MN, Geraldine (Dave) Taylor and Joyce (Curtis) Volesky, Bismarck, a brother, Frank (Lillian) Oster, Rosemont, MN; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie July 2, 2000; his parents, three sisters - Katherine, Magdalene and Regina, a grandson, Jay Mackey and a great-grandson, Darius Mackey.
Arrangements were with Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Loretta Schmidt
Loretta Schmidt, 94, of the Richardton Health Care Center, formerly of Hebron, died Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at the Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2007 at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Hebron, ND.
Burial was in the St. Ann Cemetery, Hebron.
Loretta was born May 17, 1913 in Glen Ullin, a daughter of Nick and Mary (Tavis) Gauer. She was raised and educated in Glen Ullin. She worked as a waitress and later at the Mormann ranch.
She married Frank Schmidt June 28, 1937 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin. They farmed with his parents until they bought their own farm in 1941, operating the farm until 1994 when they retired.
Loretta loved riding horse in her younger years and enjoyed playing cards and games, visiting and her grandchildren.
Following retirement Loretta and her husband moved into Hebron. She was a member of the St. Ann Christian Mothers.
Frank died October 8, 2000. Loretta continued to live in Hebron until entering the Richardton Health Center.
Those remaining to share the legacy of her love include her daughter Janet (Delbert) Hellman, Williston, ND and her sons Walter, Hebron, Clifford (Joyce), Hebron and Jerry (Roberta), Bismarck.
She also leaves 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Other survivors include her sisters Regina Bingert and Frances Mormann, both of Bismarck and Leanor Erling, Jamestown, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters Margaret and Honey, two brothers Louis and Walter and a great grandson, Tyler Schmidt
