Eva Gero, 77, Bismarck and formerly of Queens, N.Y., died Oct. 7, 1997, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be at 7 p.m. today at Missouri Slope Care Center, Bismarck. Sol Wezelman will officiate. Burial will be in Montefiore Cemetery, Farmingdale, N.Y.

Eva was born Aug. 1, 1920, in Oradea, Romania, to Samuel and Helena Feldheim. Eva was a holocaust survivor.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, George and Barbara, Bismarck; two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Jennifer; one brother and two sisters, all of Montreal, Ontario, Canada.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tibor. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

Reuben Neuberger
HAZEN -- Reuben Eldon Neuberger, 68, Pasco, Wash., died Oct. 5, 1997, at his home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at First Lutheran Church, Pasco. Burial will follow at City View Cemetery, Pasco.

Visitation will be noon to 7 p.m. today at Bruce Lee Memorial Chapel, Pasco.

He was born in Hazen on May 14, 1929, to Jacob and Pauline Neuberger. He had lived in Pasco since 1956. He was a retired warehouseman for the Pasco School District.

He enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping and life itself.

He is survived by his wife, Una; two sons, Lonnie, San Ramon, Calif., and Kerry, Wenatchee, Wash.; one daughter, Peggy Neuberger Hallett, Spokane, Wash.; one sister, La Vern Schuh, Baker, Mont.; four grandsons, Chris Neuberger, Seattle, Wash., Casey Neuberger, Wenatchee, and Cory and Matthew Hallett, Spokane; and one son-in-law, Craig Hallett, Spokane.

He was preceded in death by his son, Rockie Neuberger.

Edna Moench
Edna M. Moench, 85, Bismarck Baptist Home, died Oct. 6, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at a later date in Lodi, Calif.

Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Edna was born near Ashley to Philip and Christina (Goehring) Meyer. Edna married William Moench in Ashley. After William's death, she moved to Bismarck and attended Christie's Beauty School. She worked as a beautician in Bismarck and Fargo. After her retirement, she moved to Lodi, Calif. She moved back to Bismarck in 1990.

She belonged to United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Dale, Bismarck; two grandsons, Jeff and Craig, Minneapolis, Minn., and five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ida Scobie, Hilda Erlenbusch, Inez Howe, Evangeline and Frank Katcher, and Val and Ken Isaac, all of California.

Clifford Monteith
DEVILS LAKE -- Clifford Monteith, 89, Moorhead, Minn., formerly of Devils Lake, died Oct. 6, 1997, in a Moorhead nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Eventide Nursing Home Chapel. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.

He is survived by his daughter, Devonne Markwardt. (Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo)

Anna Zabolotny
KILLDEER -- Anna Zabolotny, 75, Killdeer, died Oct. 5, 1997, in the Killdeer nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. MDT Friday, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Killdeer. Burial will be in Killdeer Cemetery.

She is survived by one brother, Anton, Killdeer; and two sisters, Lena Norberg, Killdeer, and Margaret Norberg, Fla. (Mischel-Olson Funeral Home, Dickinson)

Wayne Haugen
JAMESTOWN -- Wayne A. Haugen, 46, Jamestown, died Oct. 5, 1997. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, at the First Baptist Church, Jamestown. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.

He is survived by his mother, Rosella Haugen, Cleveland; one sister, Cindy Ordal, Fargo,; and two brothers, Tim, Fargo, and Steve, Mandan.

Mavis Bader
LEHR -- Mavis Bader, 63, Lehr, died Oct. 7, 1997, in the Wishek hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Fredonia, with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery, rural Fredonia.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin; three sons, Ron, Lehr, Cordell, Bismarck, and Rick, Lehr; two daughters, Corrine Finck, Lehr, and Rochelle Aronson, Doyon; one brother, Edwin Ketterling, Fredonia; and one sister, Janice Martin, Jamestown. (Haut Funeral Home, Wishek)

Michael Werlinger
EDGELEY -- Michael Werlinger, 85, Edgeley, died Oct. 7, 1997, in the Jamestown hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley.

He is survived by his wife, Frieda; three sons, Larry, Burnsville, Minn., Tim, Norfolk, Neb., and Loren, Jamestown; eight daughters, Linda Opp, Yuma, Ariz., Dianna Schumacher, Cohasset, Minn., Phyllis Langewisch, Midland, Mich., Marge Asche, Gwinner, Barbara Nagel, Wahpeton, Mary Jo Kessel, Bismarck, Susan Huber, Jamestown, and Vicki Grossfield, Wayzata, Minn.; and seven sisters, Eva Guck, Beach, Lena Gabel, Bismarck, Mary Brandner, Herreid, S.D., Katie Sumara, Tacoma, Wash., Agnes Etter, Pana, Ill., and Agatha Dressler, Tacoma. Lucille Little Eagle
BULLHEAD, S.D. -- Lucille Little Eagle, 67, Bullhead, died Oct. 8, 1997, in the Fort Yates hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Episcopal Church, Bullhead. Further arrangements are pending at Kesling Funeral Home, Mobridge.

Martha Novotny
FARGO -- Martha M. Novotny, 70, Fargo, died Oct. 7, 1997, in a Fargo nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Church of the Nativity, Fargo, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fargo.

She is survived by her husband, Louis; three sons, Raymond, Dickinson, James, El Cajon, Calif., and Jeffrey, Fargo; two brothers, Albert Kostelecky, Mandan, and John Aman, Mandan; and one sister, Maryann Powell, Sacramento, Calif. (Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo)

Elizabeth St. John
FORT THOMPSON, S.D. -- Elizabeth Marie St. John, 66, Fort Thompson, died Oct. 7,1 997, in a Sioux Falls hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fort Yates. Further arrangements are pending at Kesling Funeral Home, Mobridge.

Walter Jensen
WILLISTON -- Walter Jensen, 71, Williston, died Oct. 8, 1997, in the Williston hospital. Arrangements are pending at Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Ted Vander Vorste
POLLOCK, S.D. -- Ted Vander Vorste, 82, Pollock, died Oct. 6, 1997, in the Mobridge nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church, with burial in Spring Valley Cemetery, Pollock.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Teddie Vander Vorste, Keystone, S.D., and Sandra Middleton, Huron, S.D.; three sisters, Violet Olmsted, Milwaukee, Ore., and Ruth Borr and Iva Wittmeier, both of Pollock. (Myers Funeral Home, Linton)

Gladys Schilling
Gladys O. Schilling, 80, Bismarck, formerly of Turtle Lake, died Oct. 7, 1997, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake, with burial in Turtle Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Goetz Funeral Home, Turtle Lake, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Gladys O. Rygh was born Nov. 9, 1916, near Turtle Lake, to Ole and Gina (Lindteigen) Rygh. She grew up on her parents' farm and attended rural school. She married Jacob Schilling, Nov. 9, 1938, at her parents' home. They made their home on the former Gilbert Arvidson homestead. Gladys had lived at The Terrace in Bismarck the past year and had been in ill health the past several years.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the WELCA. She enjoyed quilting, crafts and her flowers.

She is survived by her husband, Jacob; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Leonard Klain, Turtle Lake; three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Bonnie, and Duaine and Darlene, all of Turtle Lake, and Roger and Leatrice, Mercer; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sena Frantz, Madison, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Martha, Clara and Bertha; and two brothers, Arthur and Roy.

Robert Hoffman
Robert Eugene Hoffman, 46, 201 First Ave. N.W., Mandan, died Oct. 8, 1997, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Mandan American Legion and Veteran of Foreign Wars.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will begin at 7 tonight.

Robert Hoffman was born April 18, 1951, in Mandan. He was the son of Frank and Frances (Soeder) Hoffman. Bob was raised and educated in Mandan graduating from Mandan Senior High School. He served in the U. S. Army from 1969-1971. Bob married Leatha Six on Aug. 7, 1982, at Christ the King Church, Mandan. He was a self-employed sheet metal worker.

He is survived by Leatha Six, Minneapolis; one son, Andrew Jacob Hoffman, Minneapolis; one step-son, Mike Six, Fargo; one step-daughter, Stephanie Six, Bismarck; his mother, Frances Hoffman, Mandan; three brothers and sisters-in law, Frank J. and Crystal, Acworth, Ga., Mark and Lillian, Flasher, and Steve and Sue, Mandan; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Maggie Calin, Minneapolis, Mary Kay and David Tokach, Mandan, and Dottie and Stewart Mitchel, Carol Stream, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Martha Jenner
TUTTLE -- Martha Jenner, 79, rural Tuttle, died Oct. 5, 1997, in the Harvey hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, at English Lutheran Church, Tuttle. Burial will be in Tuttle Cemetery.

Martha was born Sept. 19, 1918 at Grassy Butte, to Warfolomay and Katherine (Schbatum) Kalinchenko. She grew up and attended rural school in McKenzie County. She was working at White Star Cafe in Mandan when she met Theodore Jenner. They were married Dec. 5, 1940 in Mandan. They moved to the Jenner Family farm northeast of Tuttle. He died June 29, 1969. Martha continued to live on the family farm.

She was a member of English Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid of Tuttle, and North Kidder Farmerettes Homemakers Club. She was an avid crocheter, and during the winter months a rug loom was ever present in her living room. She was an excellent gardener, enjoyed canning and loved animals. In her earlier years, she was an avid horseback rider. To her family, she was the kind of mother everybody wished to have and whom were fortunate enough to have.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Jan, Tuttle; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Greg Paluck, Williston; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, LeRoy; one daughter, Phyllis; one sister, Mary; and three brothers, Matthew, Gene and David. (Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey)

Terri Hofland
ALTA LOMA, Calif. -- Terri (Marthaller) Hofland, 47, Alta Loma, died Oct. 6, 1997, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.

Terri was born Feb. 23, 1950, in Mott, N.D., to Ethelyn and Milton Marthaller. She was raised and attended school in Hettinger, N.D., where she was the 1968 high school homecoming queen. She married her high school sweetheart, Gale Hofland, on Nov. 28, 1969.

Terri enjoyed traveling and entertaining friends with her beloved husband, Gale. She took great pride in her appearance and the appearance of her husband and two sons, Shawn and Dustin.

Terri was a wonderful wife and dedicated mother. She actively supported she sons' activities and education. Shawn and Dustin's friends were always welcome in her house where she always provided homemade food and a listening ear. Her attitude toward life and her tenacious fight with her illness will remain an inspiration to the ones who loved her.

Her family lived in Bismarck, N.D., 20 years where she worked as a beautician. In 1987, they moved to Southern California. She loved the Southern California weather and lifestyle. She worked part-time in insurance, but focused her energy on her family and friends.

Terri is survived by her husband, Gale; two sons, Shawn of Huntington Beach, and Dustin of Alta Loma. Her grandmother, Carrie Remington; her parents, Milt and Ethelyn Marthaller; her sister, Beverly Hansberry of Bloomington, Minn.; three brothers, Ron of Fargo, N.D., Dennis of Lemmon, S.D., and DuWayne of Mandan, N.D.; and her mother-in-law, Joean Hofland of Reeder, N.D.

Terri was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Silas Hofland, of Reeder. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, Inland Area, 7130 Magnolia Ave., Suite T, Riverside, Calif., 92504, in memory of Terryl Ann Hofland.

Agnes Froelich
Agnes Froelich, 86, Mandan, died Sept. 9, 1997, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 10-30 a.m. Thursday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will begin one hour before services at the funeral home.

Agnes was born Sept. 25, 1910, in St. Anthony, the daughter of Philip and Emilia (Knoll) Wetsch. She was raised and educated in the area and married Frank C. Froelich, Feb. 19, 1928, in Mandan. Frank died Feb. 13, 1978.

Agnes enjoyed gardening and taking care of her yard. She enjoyed bowling and loved playing bingo. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Mandan.

She is survived by one son and two daughters-in-law, Donald and Betty, Devils Lake, and Josie Mosbrucker, Mandan; four grandchildren, Donna Opoien and her husband, Allan, Pekin, Thomas Froelich, Minot, and Gary Froelich and Larry Froelich, both of Mandan; two great-grandchildren, Korrey Tweed, Mandan, and Brandon Tweed, Park River; one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Rosemary Wetsch, Mandan; and one sister and brother-in-law, Jewel and Clifford Wing, Reedsport, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank C.; one son, Kenneth; three sisters; and two brothers.
