Bertha Mickelson
JAMESTOWN -- Bertha A. Mickelson, 89, Jamestown, died April 25, 1997, in a Jamestown hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, both of Jamestown.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas M., Jamestown; two sons, Rodney, Jamestown, and Roger, West Burlington, Iowa; one daughter, Gloria Mickelson, Jamestown; and one sister, Clara Lubbers, Helena, Mont. (Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown)

Carl Koenig
WOODWORTH -- Carl Koenig, 85, Woodworth, died April 24, 1997, in a Jamestown hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with burial in Gem Cemetery, both of Woodworth.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie, Woodworth; four daughters, Doretta Reule, Bismarck, Arvadell Hinger, Medina, Barbara Moser, Loveland, Colo., and Sharon Limesand, Blaine, Minn.; one son, Jeffrey, Woodworth; one sister, Elizabeth Peda, Woodworth; and two brothers, Otto, Jamestown, and Paul, Woodworth. Dorothy E. Plews, 84, 1001 N. 11th St., Bismarck, died April 24, 1997, in her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

KILLDEER -- Ella Thompson, 90, Killdeer, died April 25, 1997, in the Killdeer nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Friday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Killdeer. Further arrangements are pending with Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

WING -- Gladys E. Hughes, 90, Wing, died April 26, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending.

Carrie Murdoch
Carrie M. Murdoch, 95, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, died April 26, 1997, in the care center. Arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Rose Karsky
DICKINSON -- Rose E. Karsky, 82, Dickinson, died April 24, 1997, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dickinson. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Dickinson.

She is survived by seven daughters, Loretta Fransen, Great Falls, Mont., Jeanette Cookson, Bellevue, Wash., Rosella Cash, Pleasant Hill, Mo., Darlene Karsky and Colleen Karsky, both of Fargo, Pat Phelan, Helena, Mont., and Linda Luptak, Dickinson; and one son, Donald, Phoenix, Ariz. (Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson)

Tracy Bienek
HARVEY -- Tracy Bienek, 49, Harvey, died April 25, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey.

He is survived by two sons, Brett and Brock, both of rural Martin; and one brother, Paul, Bismarck.

Bertha Jones
Bertha Wetzel Jones, 88, formerly of Tuttle, died April 24, 1997, in Beaverton, Ore. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. John K. Norby officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Tuttle Cemetery.

Bertha was born Nov. 23, 1908, in Tuttle, the daughter of Edward and Magdalena (Schuler) Wetzel. She grew up in Tuttle and attended rural schools in the area. She married Arthur Jones in August of 1946 in San Francisco. They lived there for a while and later moved to Louisiana. Arthur passed away in 1975. Bertha then moved to Tuttle and lived with her brother, Chris. She moved to Oregon in 1982.

She is survived by one sister, Emma Berg, Bismarck; three nieces, LaVonn D. Anderson, Beaverton, Lucille Hildebrand, La Pine, Ore., and Diane Witt, Tuttle; and two nephews, Raymond Wetzel, Tuttle, and James R. Berg, Steele.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers; and two sisters.

Donald Duma
Donald F. Duma, 52, Seattle, Wash., died April 25, 1997, in Seattle. He was raised and educated in Wilton, N.D., and served three years in the United States Army. Donald worked for 25 years at Boeing Air Craft.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; three daughters, Kristi, Tammy and Teresa, all of Washington; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Loretta Duma, Bismarck; and one sister, Diann Duma, Bismarck.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Margaret Duma.

Wilbur Miller
Wilbur E. Miller, 82, 306 N. 12th St., Bismarck, died April 25, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Evangel Temple, Bismarck, with the Revs. Lloyd C. Jorgenson, Randy Christensen and Buddy Yantz officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, and 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Wilbur was born Jan. 22, 1915, in Oberon, N.D., the son of the Rev. D.A. and Oranna (Smoke) Miller. He graduated from Minot High School in 1931, where he was the highest ranking boy in his class. He started learning the sheet metal trade at the age of 18.

Wilbur married Alice Simonson Sept. 2, 1934. They moved to Bismarck in 1938 where he was employed at Gerlach's Sheet Metal until 1976. He then managed Miller Sheet Metal until his retirement in 1982.

He was a member of Evangel Temple, where he served 21 years on the Board of Deacons and was a choir member and Sunday School teacher.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Roy Lund; five grandchildren, Keith and Michelle Lund, Wanda and Brad Prothero, Susan and Eric Johnson, Randy, and Darin; one great-grandchild, Bryce Prothero; one sister, Vernice, Waupaca, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Lester, Ralph and Walter.

Walter Keator
Walter F. Keator, 88, Baptist Home, Bismarck, died April 26, 1997, in the nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Baptist Home Chapel, with the Rev. Clyde Leimberer officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue one hour prior to services at the nursing home.

Walter was born Dec. 8, 1908, in Ghylin Township, the son of Harley and Iva (Keeran) Keator. He was raised and educated in Wilton, N.D. He married Ida Tosseth Nov. 1, 1933, in Bismarck. They lived on a farm near Wilton, where Walter worked at the mines and later farmed. They moved to Bismarck in 1960, where he was employed with Kirschmann Manufacturing (later Melroe Co.) from 1960 to 1967. Walter had been a resident of the Baptist Home since 1992.

He was a member of First Evangelical Free Church. He enjoyed listening to the Minnesota Twins on the radio.

He is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel and Arthur Tosseth, Wilton, and Elsie and Victor Meyers, Lakehead, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Keator and Beatrice Keator, both of Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ida, in 1981; three brothers; and three sisters.

Dorothy Plews
Dorothy Elvyra Anderson Plews, 84, 1001 N. 11th St., Bismarck, died April 24, 1997, at her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Mark Bayert officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. CDT at Carson Community Cemetery, with the Rev. Ken Trana officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Dorothy Anderson was born Aug. 10, 1912, in Carson, N.D., the daughter of Alfred Adolph and Anna Christina (Peterson) Anderson. She was raised in Carson. After graduating from high school, she attended Jamestown College and received a Grant County Declamatory Contest Award for 1929.

She worked for the Builder's Supply Company and the Army Organized Reserve, where she met her future husband, Chief Warrant Officer Ronald Plews. They were married Jan. 1, 1949, in Bismarck. They traveled with the military to New York state and Los Angeles. She lived there until her husband's death. Dorothy returned to Bismarck in 1964, where she lived the rest of her life.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the treasurer of the Bismarck Horse Club for several years.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Jacqueline Plews, Missouri Valley, Iowa; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Robert Mathias, Cincinnati, Ohio; one grandson, Kai Plews, Missouri Valley; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Adeline and Howard Snortland, Bismarck, and Florence Sands, Atlanta; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Duane and Christine Anderson, Minnesota, and Josephine Anderson, Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; three sisters, Irene Lane, Rose McClure and Lorraine Anderson; and one brother, Darwin Anderson.

The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Theresa Stevens
Theresa Stevens, 91, formerly of Bismarck, died April 24, 1997, in the Garrison nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bismarck. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Theresa Hartman was born Dec. 5, 1905 in Bowdle, S.D. She married George Stevens June 17, 1931, in Redfield, S.D. They moved to Bismarck in April of 1936. Theresa was very active at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Bismarck.

George and Theresa would spend the winter months in Phoenix, Ariz. They especially enjoyed the company of friends and family when fishing in Canada.

She is survived by three grandchildren and their families, Michael and Janet Stevens, Ventura, Calif., Daniel Stevens, Grand Junction, Colo., and Jill Marie Stevens, St. Cloud, Minn.; four great-grandchildren, Michelle, Brittany, Anna and Michael; one daughter-in-law, Kay Stevens, Fargo; four step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1982; and one son, Terry, in 1994.

Gladys Hughes
WING -- Gladys Elizabeth Hughes, 90, Wing, died April 26, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Eastgate Funeral Chapel, Bismarck, with the Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Gladys Kindred was born Aug. 1, 1906 on a farm near Wing, the daughter of Charles and Ollie (Steinlicht) Kindred. As a young girl, she moved to Illinois with her family. She was raised and educated in country schools in North Dakota.

Gladys married Herman Seilinger, Aug. 2, 1924. They lived on a farm north of Wing. She moved to Saybrook, Ill., and then to Arrowsmith, Ill., where she was a cook for the public school system. She retired from the school after 18 years of service. Gladys married Charles Hughes in 1950 in Bloomington, Ill. He died in 1957. She moved back to Wing in April of 1990, where she lived on the farm with her son.

Gladys enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting and visiting with friends.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Earl and Leona Seilinger, Wing, and Melvin and Marie Seilinger, Romeoville, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one stepson, Kenneth Hughes, Champaign, Ill.; one stepdaughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Jim Fitzgerald, Illinois; and one sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Bob Nichols, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and four brothers.

Leona Johnson
MINOT -- Leona M. Johnson, 60, Minot, died April 26, 1997, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot. Burial will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon, Minot; two daughters, DeAnn Johnson, Fargo, and Denise Luehmann, Mankato, Minn.; her mother, Emma Klimpel, Minot; two sisters, Linda Schlosser, Bismarck, and Anna Tofstad, Dewey, Ariz.; and one brother, Vernon Klimpel, Minot. Delpha Oster
WILLISTON -- Delpha Oster, 70, Williston, died April 25, 1997, in the Williston hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at First Lutheran Church, Williston. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Williston.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon; four sisters, Drusilla Horner, Grants Pass, Ore., Guelda Gates, Pleasant Grove, Utah, Ina Chandler, Rigby, Idaho, and Kathy Leavitt, Anderson, Calif.; and four brothers, Garth Russell, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Merrill Russell, Logan, Utah, Vernon Russell, St. Anthony, Idaho, and David Russell, Shelley, Idaho. Margaret Green
Margaret Green, 76, Lemmon, S.D., died April 26, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Tuesday, at Spencer Memorial Presbyterian Church, Lemmon. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Lemmon.

She is survived by one daughter, Patty Pearson, Lemmon; one brother, Dale Cook, Port Charlotte, Fla.; and two sisters, Elaine Wolff, Spearfish, S.D., and Dorothy Hintz, Lemmon. (Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Lemmon)

Floraine C. Olson, 45, Bismarck, formerly of Mott and Dickinson, died suddenly April 26, 1997, at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Wednesday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mott. Further arrangements are pending with Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott.

Paul Leitner
FESSENDEN -- Paul Leitner, 86, Fessenden, died April 26, 1997, in the Harvey hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at First Lutheran Church, Fessenden. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Fessenden.

He is survived by two sisters, Ella Helgesen, Harvey, and Marie Rauch, Spokane, Wash.; and one brother, Ted, Palos Verdes, Calif. (Nelson Funeral Home, Fessenden)

Elmer Wagner
DOUGLAS -- Elmer A. Wagner, 67, Douglas, died April 27, 1997, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Douglas. Further arrangements are pending with Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.
