DICKINSON -- William Kesting, 93, Dickinson, died Sept. 5, 1997, in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Monday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with burial in Dickinson Cemetery.

He is survived by one brother, Arnold, Dickinson; and one sister, Laurine Engel, Dickinson. (Pricek-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson)

Henry Schroeder
DICKINSON -- Henry C. Schroeder, 80, Dickinson, died Sept. 5, 1997, in his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New England, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by eight sons, Mel, Austin, Texas, Curt, New England, Jim, Bismarck, Henry, Mandan, Les, Spearfish, S.D., Tim, Dickinson, Joe, Kalispell, Mont., and Vern, Fargo; four daughters, Sue Carlson, Rapid City, S.D., Betty Kennedy, Jamestown, Rose Ann Germain, Dickinson, and Tina Flynn, Blackhawk, S.D.; one sister, Anne Newton, Dickinson; and three brothers, Steve, Riesel, Texas, Phil, Chandler, Ariz., and Con, Rapid City. Sister Rosanne Wanzek
Sister Rosanne Wanzek, 77, Bethany Convent, St. Paul, Minn., died Sept. 5, 1997, in the convent. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Bethany Convent in St. Paul.

A wake will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the convent. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, St. Paul.

Sister Rosanne was born and raised on a farm near Windsor, the daughter of August and Anna (Schultz) Wanzek. She graduated from St. John's Academy in Jamestown and continued her schooling to get a degree in music from St. Catherine's University, entering the Noviciate of Sisters of St. Joseph in March 1939.

She taught piano in St. Paul and in Ghent, Minn., Grand Forks and Jamestown for many years.

She is survived by one sister, Gertrude Schaefer, Bismarck; three brothers, Joe Wanzek, Preston, Iowa, Robert Wanzek, Lindenhurst, Ill., and Phil Wanzek, Elkton, Md.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

The family prefers memorials to Bethany Convent, St. Paul.

Roman Arnold
JAMESTOWN -- Roman Arnold, 54, Jamestown, died Sept. 5, 1997, in Wahpeton. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Ashley, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; one son, Lyle, Des Moines, Iowa; one daughter, Leah O'Leary, Wahpeton; his mother, Ida Arnold, Ashley; four brothers, Walter, Herbert, Clarence and DeuWayne, all of Ashley; and four sisters, Ruby Denning, Arlene Rath, Delores Arnold and Lorraine Becker, all of Ashley. Erika Schubert
WILLISTON -- Erika Schubert, 52, Williston, died Sept. 3, 1997, in the Minot hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith United Methodist Church, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, both of Williston.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandy Evanson, Williston; and three sisters, Kathi Windfelder, Margo Schneider and Lotte Kohlmann, all of Germany. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Goldie Rohrich
KINTYRE -- Goldie Magdalena Rohrich, 75, Cassville, Mo., formerly of Kintyre, died Sept. 4, 1997, in Cassville after a long illness. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Pulaskifield, Mo.

She is survived by three sons, Clem Jr., Gillette, Wyo., Herbert, Eagle Rock, Mo., and Franklin, Cassville; three daughters, Joanne Highley, Bismarck, Mary Magstadt, Steele, and Diana Zuraff, Frenchtown, Mont.; and her twin sister, Gloria Rudy, Linton. (Williamson Funeral Home, Cassville)

Nina Hager
HARVEY -- Nina P. Hager, 70, Harvey, died Sept. 6, 1997, in the Harvey hospital. Services will be held at 10-30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Harvey. Further arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Catherine Lawyer
Catherine Lawyer, 78, 819 N. Third St., died Sept. 7, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Church of Corpus Christi, Bismarck.

A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dakota Memorial Chapel. Further arrangements are pending.

COLEHARBOR -- Ida Buchert, 88, Coleharbor, died Sept. 7, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.

Marsha Cornog
FARGO -- Marsha Allison Cornog, 78, Fargo, died Sept. 7, 1997, in a Fargo hospital. Private services will be held in Linton, with burial in Linton Cemetery.

She is survived by two sons, Bill, Fargo, and Tracy, Princeton, Ill.; one daughter, Linda Morris, Ogallala, Neb.; one sister, Betty Philips, Bismarck; and one brother, Hudson LeRoy, Phoenix. (Myers Funeral Home, Linton)

Martin Nelson
HETTINGER -- Martin G. Nelson, 79, Hettinger, died Sept. 5, 1997, in the Hettinger nursing home. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. MDT Tuesday at Hettinger Lutheran Church, with burial in Hettinger Cemetery.

He is survived by his sister, Ida Olson, Coon Valley, Wis.; and three brothers, Henry, Hettinger, and Morris and Chester, both of Reeder. (Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Hettinger)

Reuben Mehlhoff
GARRISON -- Reuben Mehlhoff, 72, Hickman, Tenn., formerly of Garrison, died Sept. 5, 1997, in a Nashville hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church, Garrison, with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Garrison Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Reuben was born Sept. 29, 1924, at Coleharbor to Jacob and Amelia (Bauch) Mehlhoff and farmed in the Garrison area for many years. He later owned and operated the Garrison Bowling Lanes and moved to Smith County, Tenn. in 1991.

He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Gloria and Wayne Friese, Washburn, Tammy and Allan Schmidt, Bismarck, and Bette Jo Wallace, Kent, Minn.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gene and Judy, Brush Creek, Tenn., and Rick, Bull Head City, Nev.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Alma and Sam Eslinger, Garrison, and Rena and Willie Weishaar, Minot; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Aleck and Esther, and Arnold and Arlene, all of Minot, Edmund and Eleanor, Roy, and Norman and Laura, all of Garrison, and Curtis and Bonnie, Bismarck; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Michael Feist
Michael P. Feist, 74, rural Linton, died Sept. 7, 1997, at a Bismarck hospital. A rosary is scheduled for 8 p.m. Tuesday at Myers Funeral Home, Linton. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Linton.

Anna Hogue
MENOKEN -- Anna L. Hogue, 86, Menoken, died Jan. 8, 1998, in the Garrison hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Jeanette Hickman officiating. Burial will be in Menoken Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and for one hour prior to services on Monday, all at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

Anna was born Nov. 7, 1911, in Burleigh County to Iver and Nora (Hubel) Christensen. She grew up and attended rural schools north of Bismarck, near Arnold. She married August Hogue at Glencoe in 1929. They farmed in the Menoke, McKenzie and Sterling areas. August died in 1963.

She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Jahner, Bismarck, and Linda Weldon, Beach Grove, Ind.; four sons and four daughters-in-law, Cecil and Mary, and Gene and Diane, and August Jr., all of Bismarck, Emery and Phyllis, Libby, Mont.; and Faye Hogue, Wilton; 29 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Elmer; two daughters, Mary and Edna; two grandsons; one great-grandson; one daughter-in-law, Patricia; and one son-in-law, John Jahner. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)

Milo Iron Road
Milo Iron Road, ANPA O EWICAYA, 77, 1504 Third Ave. N.W., Mandan, died Jan. 6, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, at Cannonball School Gym.

Casketbearers will be John Howe Jr., Allen Bull Bear, Jesse Cloud, Danny Seaboy, Bob Zacher, Danny Iron Road, Jr., Gilbert Red Dog, and Ray Merrick.

Milo was born Jan. 23, 1920, to Ignatius and Annie "Mary" (Different Track Bull) Iron Road at Cannon Ball, where he was raised. He married Ethel Grey Bull on July 25, 1942, in Cannon Ball and they had three children. Milo and Ethel moved to Bismarck in 1952, and he was employed at Oscar H. Will and Co. He also worked at Wills Inc. as a sunflower seed roaster for a number of years. Milo worked as a construction worker for Atlas until his retirement. In 1980 they moved to Mandan.

Milo also loved powwows and was a Champion Grass Dancer in his days. He also danced traditional before retiring from dancing. Milo pastored the Cannon Ball Congregational Memorial Church for several years, and retired in 1991 due to his failing health.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel Iron Road; two daughters, Cynthia Howe, Harrold, S.D., and Sharlene Iron Road, Mandan; and one son, Cyril "Sandy" Iron Road, Mandan; 18 grandchildren and 42 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Milo will be greatly missed by his wife, children and family. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)

E.A. Kautzman
E.A. Kautzman, 74, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away peacefully on Jan. 8, 1998, in his home after a year long battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 14, 1923, in Crown Butte, the son of Anton and Johanna (Goetz) Kautzman. He married Edna P. Larson on Aug. 4, 1945. Manny started his railroad career with the Northern Pacific in 1944 and continued until his retirement in 1979.

A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday and Mass will be celebrated at noon, Friday at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Billings, Mont. Cremation has taken place.

Manny is survived by his wife, Edna; four son and two daughters-in-law, Larry and Karen, Forsyth, Mont., Ron, Billings, Mont., Kim and Gayle, Laurel, Mont., and Mick, Minot; one daughter, Jennifer, Billings, Mont.; three sisters, Maggie, Seattle, Wash., Margie, Billings, and Clara, Mandan; one brother, Art, Billings; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Gene, Harry, and Edmund.

Memorials may be sent to Big Sky Hospice, P.O. Box 1049, Billings, Mont., 59103.

Sylvia Doll
Sylvia Letty Doll, 82, Prairie City, S.D., died Jan. 8, 1998, in Wheatland, Wyo. Services will be held at 1 p.m. MST Monday, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Buffalo, S.D. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery.

She is survived by two daughters, Elaine Dunn, Spearfish, S.D., and LeVay Byers, Wheatland; one son, Doug, Prairie City; one sister, Elaine Olson, White Plains, N.Y.; and one brother, Jim Des Camps, Aberdeen, S.D. (Krebsbach Funeral Home, Bowman)

Theodore Liebelt
MINOT -- Theodore A. Liebelt, 90, Minot, formerly of Sawyer, died Jan. 8, 1998, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva.

Victor E. Solheim, 77, 1610 N. 15th St., Bismarck, died Jan. 9, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Further arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

TURTLE LAKE -- Aletha Hoffer, 85, Turtle Lake, died Jan. 9, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending with Goetz Funeral Home, Turtle Lake.

Victor Solheim
Victor Solheim, 77, Bismarck, died of cancer Jan. 9, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, and 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, all at Eastgate Funeral Service, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Victor Eldred Solheim was born on Sept. 1, 1920, the fourth of five sons born to Matthias and Marie (Hegdahl) Solheim, on their homestead in Clear Lake Township, Kidder County, near Tuttle. He grew up on the family farm, was educated in local country schools, and graduated from Tuttle High School in 1938, in a class of 29 members.

He began teaching in a one-room school in rural Tuttle, and continued near Harvey and in Beulah, until he entered the Army in 1942. He served for 37 months during World War II, including 22 months in the Aleutian Islands. He was discharged in 1945, and on Aug. 2, 1945, he married Phyllis L. "Faye" Pederson of Driscoll. He resumed teaching and furthered his formal education. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Valley City State Teacher's College and his Master's Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Northern Colorado at Greeley. During this time, he taught and coached at New Leipzig and Washburn, and was the school superintendent in Gackle, before joining the Bismarck School System in 1954. He was a junior high and elementary school teacher and principal serving at Bismarck Junior High, Hughes Junior High, Saxvik and Richholt elementary schools before becoming Assistant Superintendent of Schools in 1965, a position he held until his retirement in 1984.

He had a 41-year career in education, 31 in the Bismarck School System, and 19 years as the Assistant Superintendent primarily concerned with curriculum and personnel. Highlights of his career include the publication of an elementary level text and activities book, "This State of Ours, North Dakota", co-authored by Margaret Johnson of Bismarck. This text has an estimated total printing of over 15,000 copies. In 1968, he participated in a Fulbright Fellowship tour of India and visited schools in that country for several weeks. His air travel route took him entirely around the globe. In 1987, he was honored to have a new school in southwest Bismarck named for him, the Victor E. Solheim Elementary School.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bismarck, serving in several leadership roles and teaching Sunday School for many years. He was also a member of the Bismarck Rotary Club and served as its president from 1977-1978.

Vic is survived by his wife, Faye; their children and families: Dave and the late Joan (Senzek) Solheim, Dickinson, and Benjamin and Julia; Dean and Kathy Solheim of the Missoula, Mont., area, and Haleigh; and Vicki and Alan Pennington, Killdeer, and T.J. and Josh. Other survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Mabel (Berg) Solheim, Steele, and their children, Myrna Wetzel of Bismarck, and Leslie Solheim of Chicago; and two nephews, Manley Solheim Jr., Ocean City, N.J., and Jon Solheim of Philadelphia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Marie; three brothers, Alvin, Manley and Manfred; one niece, Judy Solheim McDaniel; and one daughter-in-law, Joan Senzek Solheim.

The family prefers memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church Foundation, Ruth Meiers Hospitality House, Atkinson's God's Child Mission in Guatemala, or the charity of the donor's choice.
