Barbara Anderson
FARGO -- Barbara J. Anderson, 46, Fargo, died April 29, 1998, in Fargo. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo.

She is survived by one daughter, Julie Anderson, Horace; one son, Douglas, Fargo; and one brother, Daniel Bjerke, Bismarck. (Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo)

Arthur Nisstad
GLENFIELD -- Arthur Nisstad, 73, Glenfield, died April 29, 1998, in the Carrington hospital. Services will be held at 3 p.m. today, at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington. Burial will be in James River Cemetery, rural Carrington.

He is survived by one brother, Conrad, rural Glenfield. (Evans Funeral Home, Carrington)

Earl Seilinger
WING -- Earl Seilinger, 72, Wing, died May 1, 1998, at his home in Wing. Arrangements are pending with pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Loretta Jans
Loretta Jans, 66, 406 N. 17th St., Bismarck, died April 30, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steve Sathre officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today, and 1-9 p.m. Sunday, both at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Loretta Holzer was born on March 13, 1932, in Emmons County, the daughter of Valentine and Katherine (Schneider) Holzer. She was educated in Emmons County schools. Loretta worked for Renschler's Cafe and Lauinger Lanes Cafe in Linton. She moved to Bismarck in 1965, where she was employed by the G.P. Restaurant. Loretta married Walter Jans on Sept. 27, 1971. One daughter, Janet, was born to this union.

Loretta was a generous person, giving of her time and talents to anyone in need. She enjoyed family functions and dancing. She will be deeply missed, especially by family members.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Anton V., Wendelin, and Frank and Lavern, all of Linton; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Elizabeth Rohrich, Valley City, Ann Belverstone, and Katie and Bob Christenson, all of Bismarck, and Martha and Gene Bosch, Linton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter, on Feb. 13, 1997; two sisters, Christine Holzer and Clementine Vetter; and one brother, Mike Holzer. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)

Inga Hanson
WILLISTON -- Inga E. Hanson, 79, Williston, died April 30, 1998, in the Williston hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Williston. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Williston.

She is survived by her husband, Julet; two sons, Ordean, Williston, and Ronald, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter, Diane Hammerland, Pueblo, Colo.; and two sisters, Anna Jorgenson, Williston, and Olga Stenberg, Watford City. (Fulkerson Funeral Home, Williston)

Sybella Rahrich
Sybella Rahrich, 75, 1903 Ryan Drive, Bismarck, died April 30, 1998, at her home following a brief illness. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Church of Corpus Christi, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steve Zastoupil officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today, and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday, both at Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck. A Catholic Daughters Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday evening followed by a vigil service, both at Boelter Funeral Home.

Sybella was born on May 8, 1922, in Strasburg, the daughter of Romanus and Celestine (Braun) Ternes. She was raised and educated in the Strasburg area. She worked at the Patterson Hotel in Bismarck for several years before moving to Braddock to work with her brothers. She married Eugene Rahrich on May 29, 1951, in Grassna. Following their marriage, they lived in Hebron for 12 years, moving to Zeeland where they lived until 1968, when they moved to Bismarck.

Sybella was a member of Catholic Daughters and enjoyed gardening and loved to play Bingo.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Cindy Bertsch, Bismarck, Barb and Kevin Hougen, Aurora, Colo., Kathy and Jerry Frolich, Boulder, Colo., and Donna Rahrich and her fiance, Bob Sands, Denver; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Allen, Portland, Ore., Larry and Chris, Denver, and Raymond and Joni, Bismarck; four sisters, Olivia Jangula and Rose Jahner, both of Linton, Cecilia Mathern, Buckley, Wash., and Tess Krumm, Fargo; four brothers, Eddie Ternes, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Isadore Ternes, Bloomington, Minn., and Tony Ternes and Raymond Ternes, both of Minneapolis; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Aloysius, August, Bob, Benny and Oswald. (Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck)

Earl Seilinger
Earl Seilinger, 72, 30251 422nd Avenue N.E., Wing, died May 1, 1998, at his home of natural causes. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Eastgate Funeral Chapel, Bismarck. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Monday, and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, both at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Earl was born on Nov. 13, 1925, near Wing, the son of Herman and Gladys (Kindred) Seilinger. Earl was raised and educated in the Wing area. He entered the U.S. Army on Dec. 16, 1943, in Chicago, Ill. He was a Cannoneer -- 610 and was wounded at the European Theater on Feb. 19, 1945. Earl was a Private First Class and had many decorations and citations. He was honorably discharged on April 29, 1946.

Earl married Leona Hieb on Dec. 18, 1948, in Minneapolis. They then moved to Joliet, Illinois, where he worked for General Motors until 1955. They then moved back to his father's homestead north of Wing in 1955, where he farmed and milked cows until he retired.

Earl enjoyed fishing, playing cards, his family, and visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Leona; five children and spouses, Phyllis (Seilinger) and Elden Okland, South Heart, Richard Seilinger and Linda Seilinger, both of Wing, David and Kristie Seilinger, and Steven Seilinger, all of Bismarck; grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Marie, Romeoville, Ill.; his special friends, Ike and Carol Grantham, Bismarck, Dennis and Wanda Burrer, Wing, and James and Doris Saeman, Wing; nieces and nephews; and many more friends and relatives.

Earl was preceded in death by his father and mother. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)

Maggie Hilzendeger
Maggie Hilzendeger, 82, 626 Broadway, Napoleon, died April 30, 1998, at her home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, with the Rev. James Lauerman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, where a Altar Society Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. today and a parish vigil will be said at 7:30 p.m. today, both at the church.

Maggie was born on April 15, 1916, in Zeeland, the daughter of Frank and Katie (Welder) Weigel. She married Mike W. Hilzendeger on May 6, 1941, in Napoleon. Maggie and Mike farmed southeast of Napoleon until 1964 when they moved into town. Maggie worked as a cook at the American Legion for several years.

She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Benedict "Jim" and Ruby, Napoleon; one daughter and son-in-law, NeElda and Duane Remmick, Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren and their spouses, Sheila and Kevin Tuenge, Twylah and Tim Jensen, Brenda and Robert Fischer, Annette and Gary Moser and Michael and Kim Remmick; three great-grandchildren, Eric Tuenge, and Kaitlin and Tanner Fischer; one brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Philomena Weigel, Bismarck; and two sisters, Katie Bauer, Bismarck, and Elizabeth "Lizzy" Schneider, Champaign, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike who died in 1992; her parents; two infant brothers, Bernard and Matt; and three sisters, Christine Scherr, Barbara Ivanov and Mary Wald. (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)

LeRoy Tomlinson
LeRoy B. "Tommy" Tomlinson, 82, 2500 Valley View Ave., Bismarck, died May 1, 1998, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, at Faith Lutheran Church, 14th Street and Avenue C, with the Revs. Jim Sorenson and Joel Scherer officiating. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Max, at 5 p.m. Monday.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Mr. Tomlinson was born on Feb. 29, 1916, at Hannibal, Mo., to Roy and Ellen (Vanciel) Tomlinson. He married Elsie Jungling at Max on Nov. 20, 1935. They previously lived in Max and Chicago and moved to Bismarck in 1962.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Elsie; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Melvin Henne, Max, and Cynthia and Allen David, Foster City, Calif.; one son and daughter-in-law, Darell and Doris Tomlinson, Billings, Mont.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six brothers, Fred, John, Allan, Tom, Stan and George Tomlinson; and two sisters, Lena Diede and Kathy Turkowski.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, May; his brother, Teddy; and two great-grandchildren. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

Martin Emineth
CENTER -- Martin Emineth, 76, Center, died May 3, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Center, with the Rev. Austin Vetter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. today at St. Martin's Church in Center, where a rosary and vigil service will be said at 7 tonight. Visitation continues at the church until time of services on Tuesday.

Martin was born on Sept. 19, 1921, in Youngtown, the son of Frank and Monica (Dirk) Emineth. He was raised and educated in the area and married Mary Hatzenbihler on May 21, 1946, in Center. Mary died Sept. 17, 1994.

Martin enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren.

He is survived by six daughters and sons-in-law, Francie and Warren Humphrey, Bonneau, S.C., Dora and Dave Boyd, Minot, Joyce and Adam Ressler, Apple Valley, Minn., Laverne and Dave Holkup, Wilton, Donna and Tim Geiger, Center, and Karen and Bruce Winn, Washburn; four sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and LaVern, Center, Terrance and Virginia, Wilton, Richard and Patty, Potterville, Mich., and Mervin and Kelly, Mandan; 35 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six sisters, Monica Ternes, Mandan, Sister Emilia Emineth, Dickinson, Rose Heinz, Hazen, Clem Hoff, Portland, Ore., Veronica Heinz, Bismarck, and Barbara Hohbein, Berwyn, Ill.; and one brother, Mike Emineth, Vancouver, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary; two sisters, Margaret Emineth and Frances Pfliger; one brother, Tony; and one granddaughter, Sheila Emineth. (Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan)

Bradley Rohrich
STEELE -- Bradley John Rohrich, 33, Steele, died May 3, 1998, at his parents' home following a four-year fight with cancer. His family was with him at the time of his death. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Frances deSales Catholic Church, Steele. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Steele.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Steele Memorial Chapel, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services at the church.

Brad was born Dec. 13, 1964, at Medina, the son of Valentine and Betty (Quale) Rohrich. He attended the Steele-Dawson schools. He was employed by Regner Aerial Spray Service and as a farmhand for Robert Kellam in Steele.

Brad enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, doing small engine repair and auto paint spraying in his spare time and spending time with his family.

He is survived by one daughter, Amber Marie Rohrich, Steele; one son, Benjamin Bradley Rohrich, Bismarck; his parents, Val and Betty Rohrich, Steele; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Delilah "Toots" and Dave Bresset, Platsburg, N.Y., and Judy and Derrick Black, West Fargo; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Char Rohrich, Robert and Mary Rohrich, and Brian and Glenda Rohrich, all of Steele, and Valentine Jr. and Lisa Rohrich, Melcher, Iowa; 15 nieces and nephews; and one great-niece. Brad is also survived by his very special friend, Vickie DeVore and her daughters, Nichol and Ginger. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)

The Rev. Charles Rudd
JAMESTOWN -- The Rev. Charles Richard Rudd, 70, Jamestown, died April 25, 1998, in Mexico City. Services were May 1, 1998, at The Basilica of St. James, Jamestown. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown.

Charles Richard Rudd was born on Feb. 22, 1928, in St. Paul, Minn., the son of Leonard and Theresa (Hamm) Rudd. He moved to Jamestown with his family in 1929.

Following the death of their spouses, Theresa married Ben Miller and they made Jamestown their home. Richard was educated at St. John's Academy, Jamestown, until the 10th grade.

At that time he entered St. John's High School, Collegeville, Minn., as a pre-divinity student, graduating in 1946. He entered the seminary at St. John's University, Collegeville, graduating in 1954.

His ordination to the priesthood took place on May 1, 1954, in Fargo. During the following years he served many parishes, including Assistant at Rugby in 1954; Assistant at St. Catherine's in Valley City, 1954-1956; Assistant at Langdon, 1956-1959; Pastor at Berlin, 1959-1967; Chaplain at St. Francis Convent and Dept. Head of Religion at the Academy at Hankinson, 1967-1969; Pastor at St. John's Church, Kensal, 1969-1971; Pastor at Langdon, Milton, Nekoma and Osnabrock, 1971-1980; Pastor at Cooperstown, 1980-1983; Pastor at Oriska, Buffalo and Fingal, 1983-1990; and Pastor at Hillsboro from 1990-1997.

He retired on July 1, 1997, due to major surgery. Following his recovery, he again became a resident of Jamestown.

Father Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In 1997 he was recognized for his contribution and service in manifesting and forwarding the course of Christian unity.

He was then chosen to receive the 1997 North Dakota Conference of Churches Award for Ecumenical Achievement.

He is survived by his sister, Glory Ebertz, Jamestown; his nieces and nephews, Elizabeth and Keith Herner, Puyallup, Wash., Christopher and Yvonne, Bismarck, Ann Johnson, Burnsville, Minn., Peter and Denise, Wasilla, Alaska, Paul and Veronica, Phoenix, and Patrick and Dr. Michael, both of Bloomington, Minn.; one stepsister, Kathryn and Dick Ross, Shorewood, Wis.; three aunts, Dolores Romer and Leona Hamm, both of Jamestown, and Cele Fredricks, Maryville, Wash.; 13 great-nieces and nephews and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather; and brother-in-law, John Ebertz.

Memorial may be made to Johnny Ebertz Scholarship FACE Fund or a fund of the donor's choice. (Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown)

Philip Buckley Jr.
Philip Buckley Jr., 72, Hot Springs, Ark., formerly of Bismarck, died May 2, 1998, in Hot Springs. Cremation has taken place.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, Bismarck; one son, Philip Buckley III, Mandan; four daughters, Joyce Zimmerman, Pierre, S.D., Phyllis Kautzman and Sharon Vogel, both of Mandan, and Connie George, Palmetto, Fla.; and one adopted daughter, Grace Geer, Indianapolis. Per Swenson
HETTINGER -- Per Gustaf Swenson, 92, Hettinger, formerly of Haynes, died May 1, 1998, in a Hettinger nursing home. Services will be 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday at Hettinger Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Hettinger Cemetery.

He is survived by one brother, Christian, Lindsborg, Kan.; and one sister, Linnea Forthun, Hettinger. (Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Hettinger)

Lawrence Zirbel
BOWDON -- Lawrence L. Zirbel, 78, rural Bowdon, died May 3, 1998, in the Harvey hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chaseley United Methodist Church, Chaseley. Burial will be in Chaseley Cemetery.

He is survived by three sisters, Elsie Skaalen, Frazee, Minn., Helen J. Hahn, Fargo, and Mima Ihme, Lisbon; and one brother, Henry, rural Bowdon. (Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey)

Philip 'Red' Buckley Jr.
Philip W. "Red" Buckley Jr., 72, Bismarck, Ark., formerly of Mandan, died Saturday, May 2, 1998, in Hot Springs, Ark.

A memorial service will 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at First Lutheran Church in Mandan.

He served with the Seabees in World War II and in the North Dakota National Guard 188th Field Artillery in Korea.

He was retired from the North Dakota National Guard and a retired letter carrier in Mandan.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Buckley, Bismarck, Ark.; one son, Philip Buckley II, Mandan; four daughters, Joyce Zimmerman, Pierre, S.D., Phyllis Kautzman and Sharon Vogel, both of Mandan, and Connie George, Palmetto, Fla.; and one adopted daughter, Grace Geer, Indianapolis.
