Johanna Dietz
ELGIN -- Johanna Dietz, 90, Elgin, died Sept. 20, 1998, in the Glen Ullin nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MDT Friday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elgin, with the Rev. Nancy Jaster officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Elgin.

Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. MDT Thursday at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Elgin, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Serving as casketbearers will be Jeff, Tom, Vernon and Bernhard Dietz, Steve Loegering and Elmer Rauscher.

Johanna Kolodjeski was born on Aug. 20, 1908, the daughter of Frank and Pauline (Paliga) Kolodjeski, on her parents farm near St. Anna, Minn. She grew up and attended school there. In 1924, at the age of 15 years, Johanna and her brother, John, came to North Dakota on the train. She worked as a housekeeper for her two uncles, who were blacksmiths in New Leipzig. On Aug. 7 1928, she married Henry Dietz in Elgin. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to New Leipzig. Johanna was a mother and homemaker all of her life. In 1954, she and Henry moved back to Elgin. Henry Dietz passed from this life on Nov. 18, 1990. Johanna continued to live in Elgin and became a resident of Dakota Hills in Elgin in April of 1997. She moved into the Marian Manor Nursing Home in Glen Ullin on Oct. 6, 1997, where she had resided since that time.

Grateful for having shared her life are her sons and daughters-in-law, Lester and Leola, Linton, and Duane and Bernice, San Clemente, Calif.; one brother and sister-in-law, Roman and Christine Kolodjeski, Avon, Minn.; her sisters and brother-in-law, Martha Brown, Isle, Minn., and Helen and Oliver Johnson, Minneapolis; her special friends, Alvin and Leona Hehn, Emil and Pauline Heim, and Alvin and Adeline Dietz; her grandchildren, Donnette and George Joyal, Paulette and Steve Krenz, Ronda and Steve Loegering, Scot and Denise Dietz, Grant Dietz, David and Nelda Dietz, Jeff and Joan Dietz, Sue Dietz, Tom and Michele Dietz, and Sandy and Scott Kostelecky; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Johanna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one infant son, Ernest; three brothers and one brother-in-law. (Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Elgin)

Jeff Tachenko
GRASSY BUTTE -- Jeff Tachenko, 40, Grassy Butte, died Sept. 21, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital after being diagnosed with leukemia in November of 1997. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Thursday, at Hillside Baptist Church, Dickinson. Burial will be at 2 p.m. MDT at Seventh-day Adventist Church Cemetery, Grassy Butte.

He is survived by his wife, Jan; his son, Luke, and his daughter, Chloe, both at home; his parents, Steve and Virgina, Grassy Butte; and two sisters, Rita Smith, Lewisville, Colo., and Cheryl Buckley, Southern Pines, N.C. (Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson)

Reinhold Bollinger
ELLENDALE -- Reinhold Bollinger, 82, Ellendale, died Sept. 20, 1998, in an Aberdeen, S.D. hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Presbyterian United Methodist Church, Ellendale. Burial will be in Ellendale City Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; three sons, Dennis, Bloomington, Minn., Rick, Covina, Calif., and Louis, Mina Lake, S.D.; and four daughters, JoAnn Kent, Arlington, Texas, Mary Pittman, Boerne, Texas, and Kathy Rodin and Donna Lang, both of Bismarck. (Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale)

Guy Hall
DICKINSON -- Guy J. Hall, 75, Dickinson, died Sept. 18, 1998, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Cremation has taken place.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; three daughters, Diane Whiting, Dickinson, Donna Filkowski, Fort Collins, Colo., and Debby Stuhler, St. Charles, Mo.; two sons, Don, Syracuse, N.Y., and Doug, Minot; and one brother, Bob Hall, Sidney, Mont. (Allnutt Funeral Service, Loveland, Colo.)

Evelyn Foote
Evelyn Foote, 74, Mobridge, S.D., died Sept. 21, 1998, in a Mobridge care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. CDT Friday, at Nutrition Center, Bullhead, S.D. Further arrangements are pending with Kesling Funeral Home, Mobridge.

Bernhardt Mittleider
STEELE -- Bernhardt Mittleider, 74, Steele, died Sept. 22, 1998 at his home. Arrangements are pending with Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

RUGBY -- Thomas Heisler, 78, Rugby, died Sept. 22, 1998, in the Rugby hospital. Arrangements are pending with Nelson Funeral Home, Esmond.

Vicky Johnson
PARSHALL -- Vicky Johnson, 48, Parshall, died Sept. 23, 1998, in a Minot hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. today at First Lutheran Church, Parshall. Burial will be in Parshall Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Keith; one daughter, Candace Johnson, Parshall; two sons, Brian, Duluth, Minn., and Cory, Glendive, Mont.; her mother, Thelma Baker, Parshall; four brothers, Ron Baker, Redwood City, Calif., Brad Baker, Stanley, Wayne Baker, Boise, Idaho, and Rod Baker, Garrison; and six sisters, Judy Hallingstad and Dianna Baker, both of Redwood City, and Roberta Ranum, Sheila Steele, Janet Baker and Susan Dixon, all of Parshall. Ronald Schwalk
CARRINGTON -- Ronald Schwalk, 55, Carrington, died Sept. 25, 1998, in the Carrington health center. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the ELCA Church, Woodworth. Further arrangements are pending with Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

WILLISTON -- George Long, 90, Williston, and formerly of Epping, died Sept. 24, 1998, in a Williston nursing home. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Helen Bracken
LEEDS -- Helen M. Bracken, 67, Leeds, died Sept. 25, 1998, in a Devils Lake nursing home. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at North Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Leeds. Further arrangements are pending with Nelson Funeral Home, Leeds.

George Strilchuk
George Strilchuk, 74, Longview, Texas, formerly of Belfield, died Sept. 25, 1998, in Belfield. Services will be 2 p.m. MDT Monday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending.

Ann Lunde
Ann Adair Lunde, 76, Mandan, died Sept. 25, 1998, in a Mandan care center. Arrangements are pending with Bismarck Funeral Home.

Arthur Johnson
Arthur R. Johnson, 91, Mandan, died Sept. 25, 1998, in a Dickinson care center. Arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Reynold Miller
FORT YATES -- Reynold Miller, 56, Fort Yates, died Sept. 24, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending with Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

Arthur Johnson
Arthur R. Johnson, 91, Mandan, died Sept. 25, 1998, in Dickinson. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Chapel, Bismarck, with the Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, all at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Arthur R. Johnson was born on Oct. 15, 1906, in Ryder, the son of Adolph and Hannah (Fingerson) Johnson. He was raised and educated in Munich. Arthur married Pearl Sundberg on Nov. 11, 1939, in Hibbing, Minn.

In 1949, they moved to Mandan, where he worked as a pile driver engineer and foreman for a bridge crew for Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired in 1973.

Arthur was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Mandan.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Ed Seeberg, Bismarck; one stepson and his wife, Jack and Dorothy Anderson, Bagley, Minn.; his grandchildren, Stacy, Kelly and Laurie Seeberg, Roberta, Jana and Jon Anderson; and three sisters, Mabel Stumper, Dickinson, Hazel Stensrud, Duluth, Minn., and Evie Norton, Boston, Mass. Ann Lunde
Ann Adair Lunde, 76, Mandan, died Sept. 25, 1998, in a Mandan care center. Memorial services will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Valley City, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Charles Plaster officiating. Burial will be private.

Ann Adair (Moe) was born on March 6, 1922 in Minneapolis, the daughter of Erwin and Louella (Hermanson) Moe. She married Joseph M. Lunde on May 5, 1944, in Marana, Ariz.

Ann Adair loved to sew and go bowling. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph M.; her daughters, Carole Olson and husband, Marcus, Phoenix, Ariz., and Karen Hammond and her husband, Donald, Mandan; one son, Joseph J. and his wife, Martee, Valley City; her mother, Louella Moe, Hopkins, Minn.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jack Moe, Plymouth, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association in Bismarck. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

Charles Brickman
Charles "Chuck" W. Brickman, 27, died while playing intramural soccer at an indoor soccer facility in Omaha. Services were held on Sept. 21, 1998, at Bellevue Memorial Chapel, Bellevue, Neb.

Chuck was a graduate of Papillion-LaVista High School and Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo. He was employed as a software development analyst at First Data Corp. in Omaha.

Chuck had played soccer since elementary school. He enjoyed traveling, skiing and snowboarding. He also played guitar and piano. Chuck will be greatly missed by family friends and co-workers.

Survivors include his parents, William and Corrine (Beckman) Brickman, Bellevue; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Dan Brickeman, Bellevue, and Mike and Sherri Brickman, Papillion, Neb.; his grandparents, Ernie and Erma Beckman, Hannover; and his aunts and uncles, Joyce and Marv Borgelt, Bismarck, and Loretta and Wayne Beckman, and Audrey and Delbert Bargmann, all of Hannover; and eight cousins.

Reynold Miller
FORT YATES -- Reynold Miller, 56, Fort Yates, died Sept. 24, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, with Deacon Virginia Luger officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with full military rites provided by Mandan American Legion Post No. 40 and VFW Post No. 707.

Visitation begins Monday at 1 p.m. and continues until the time of the service on Tuesday.

Reynold was born on Aug. 29, 1942, at Mott, to Frank and Elizabeth (Hagel) Miller. He grew up in Mott and graduated from Mott High School. He served in the U.S. Army from January 1956 to January 1967.

He married Gladys Sieglock in 1968 and from this marriage they had two sons, Reynold and Dan. Reynold worked at Western Steel and Plumbing for many years and most recently worked at Eva Station at Fort Yates. He married Jackie Young Bear on Feb. 17, 1995, in Bismarck.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie; two sons and daughters-in-law, Reynold and Kay, and Dan and Heather, all of Bismarck; his mother, Betty Miller, Bismarck; one sister, Genevieve Wagendorf, Wilton; two brothers, Phil Miller, Minneapolis, and Don Miller, Pierre, S.D.; one grandson, Mitchel; a stepdaughter, Winona Kozak, Great Lakes, Ill.; and two step-grandchildren, Veronica and Autumn McKay.

He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Raymond, and a sister, Janice Behm. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)

Lawrence Zacher
Lawrence Zacher, 72, Aberdeen, S.D., died Sept. 24, 1998, in an Aberdeen hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aberdeen. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen.

He is survived by his wife, Katie; four daughters, Marlene Bitz, Aberdeen, Perry Ann Kessler, Wetonka, S.D., Christina Severson, Aberdeen, and Frances Ness, Frederick, S.D.; one son, Arnold, Scotland, S.D.; three sisters, Eleanor Holzer, Bismarck, Virginia Feist, Strasburg, and Agnes Buechler, Bismarck; and four brothers, Aloysius, Peter and Valentine Zacher, all of Strasburg, and George Zacher, Bismarck. Evelyn Haag
HETTINGER -- Evelyn H. Haag, 87, Hettinger, died Sept. 24, 1998, in a Hettinger nursing home. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hettinger Lutheran Church, with burial in Hettinger Cemetery.

She is survived by four children, Carolyn Van Wyk, Lodgepole, S.D., DuWayne Haag, Spartanburg, S.C., Janice Haag, Missoula, Mont., and Darrell Haag, Dickinson; two brothers, Norman Stedje, Kalispell, Mont., and Ernest Stedje, Minneapolis; and one sister, Catherine Prestby, Woodburn, Ore. George Long
EPPING -- George Long, 90, Epping, died Sept. 24, 1998, in a Williston nursing home. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Williston. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Williston.

He is survived by three daughters, Mona, Zahl, Lois Papineau, Epping, and Lyla Semenko, Williston; two sisters, Margaret Rennerfeldt and Josephine Lind, both of Epping; and two brothers, Allen and Stace Long, both of Epping. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Helen Bracken
