DICKINSON -- Frances Schmidt, 91, Dickinson, died Sept. 27, 1998, in a Dickinson nursing home.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson.

Further arrangements are pending at Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Angeline Herauf

DICKINSON -- Angeline Rose Herauf, 81, Dickinson, died Sept. 26, 1998, in the Dickinson hospital.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Dickinson.

She is survived by her husband, Frank; two daughters, Patricia Ehlis, New England, and Cheryl Dobie, Broomfield, Colo.; one son, Blaine, Dickinson; two brothers, Richard Wolf and John Wolf; and three sisters, Eleanor Hawkins, Delores Hammel and Viola Stranik. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Murlin Christianson

Murlin Christianson, 71, Bismarck, died Sept. 27, 1998, in his home.

Arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Margaret Decker

DICKINSON -- Margaret Decker, 77, Dickinson, died Sept. 26, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson.

Further arrangements are pending at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Angela Plante

PARSHALL -- Angela Plante, 80, Parshall, died Sept. 25, 1998, in her home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Veterans Memorial Building, Parshall, with burial in Memorial Congregational Cemetery, Raul.

She is survived by three sons, Orion and Francis, both of Parshall, and Gabe, Cannon Ball; five daughters, Antoinette Plante, Cannon Ball, and Lillian Plante, Sharon Plante, Josephine Plante and Jeralyn Fox, all of Parshall; one sister, Serena Gardner, Parshall; and two brothers, Henry, Mobridge, S.D., and Claude, Bismarck. F.F. Bender
ASHLEY -- F.F. Bender, 92, Ashley, died Sept. 27, 1998, in Fargo. Arrangements are pending at Carlsen Funeral Home, Ashley.

Lillian Engbrecht

BEULAH -- Lillian M. Engbrecht, 90, Beulah, died Aug. 29, 1998, in a Beulah nursing home.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday, at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Kris Nyman officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. MDT Thursday, at Knife River Care Center, Beulah, and from 2:30-8 p.m. MDT Thursday, at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Barbara Oster, Courtney Oster, Nadine Schaff, Wade Engbrecht, Nicole Engbrecht, Tyler Engbrecht, Brent Engbrecht, Suzanne Lorentzen, Michael Engbrecht, Steven Engbrecht, Jeffrey Engbrecht, Kimberly Engbrecht, David Engbrecht, Brian Engbrecht, and Jason Engbrecht.

Lillian was born on Sept. 12, 1907, at Dodge, a daughter of Charles and Hilda (Johnson) Gustafson.

Her early education was at Dodge and in 1927 she became the first high school graduate from the Dodge High School.

She played basketball for the girls team in Dodge.

While in high school, she decided that she would like to be a teacher and immediately after graduation, she attended a summer session at Dickinson State Teachers College.

She started her teaching career in a small rural school near Dodge in the fall of 1927.

After two years of teaching, she returned to Dickinson and completed her education. Lillian returned to Dodge and taught grade school and also handled physical education programs for the high school girls.

In 1931, she organized a boys and girls 4-H club in Dodge.

On June 4, 1934, she married Herbert Engbrecht.

They worked at the grocery business at Golden Valley and Beulah until 1943, at which time they started farming southeast of Golden Valley.

When the youngest of their five children started school, Lillian returned to teaching.

In 1957, the Engbrechts moved to Golden Valley and started an insurance business in both Golden Valley and Beulah.

In 1960, they moved to Beulah and Lillian again became involved in teaching.

She became the first special education teacher in Mercer County. Herb died in the fall of 1967.

Lillian kept busy holding the business together and settled down to running a well-organized insurance and real estate business in Beulah.

She retired in 1969. On Oct. 24, 1990, she became a resident of the Knife River Care Center, Beulah.

Lillian was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah. While in Golden Valley area, she taught Sunday School and worked actively in organizing an American Lutheran Church Women group at Golgotha Lutheran Church. She was a 4-H leader for 9 years.

She is survived by four sons and daughter-in-laws, Keith and Jan Engbrecht, Bismarck, Don and Jackie Engbrecht, Mandan, Dean and Carol Engbrecht, St. Charles, Ill., and Ray and Marilyn Engbrecht, Golden Valley; one son-in-law, Leland Oster and his wife, Eunice, Hazen; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Delia Flockhart, Virgil, Kan.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Inez Oster; three brothers and one sister. (Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen)

Randy Moch

Randy (Roadhog) Moch, 49, Whitewood, S.D., died Aug. 23, 1998, at his home.

Services were held on Aug. 26, 1998, at Carlsen-Jolley Funeral Home, Spearfish, S.D., with the Rev. John Williamson officiating.

Burial was in Black Hills National Cemetery with full military rites provided by Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.

Randolph Joseph Moch was born on Jan. 24, 1949, in Bismarck, to Anton and Birdie (Dixon) Moch.

He grew up in Kintyre and attended schools in the Kintyre and Napoleon area.

He graduated from Napoleon High School and farmed until he entered the U.S. Army in 1969.

He served in Vietnam from July 1970 until July 1971. Following his discharge from the military he returned to Kintyre, where he farmed and trucked.

He was married to Leslie Turnbow on Jan. 14, 1977 at Bismarck.

They have made their home in Whitewood for the past 20 years.

He worked as a logger for David C. Arnio of Spearfish and Baker Timber Products of Rapid City.

Randy enjoyed hunting, camping and pontoon trips. Randy thoroughly enjoyed being with friends and family, and will be greatly missed.

To the many people who held and will always hold a special place in his heart, you will always be remembered by his family.

Those grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Leslie; his mother, Birdie Moch, Steele; two sons, Cody Moch, Sturgis, and Clint Moch, Dillon, Colo.; one daughter, Cassie and Guy Reman, Lead, S.D.; one brother, Don and Jeannie Moch, Kintyre; four sisters, Dona Frolich, Bismarck, Maxine and Mike Feyereisen, Rolla, Pam Bitz and her fiancee, Stan Scheck, Jamestown, and Cleo and Doug Janke, Medora; and his four grandchildren, Nicholas Moch, Alexis Moch, and Tristyn and Taytum Reman.

He was preceded in death by his father, Anton; and one brother-in-law, Don Frolich. (Calrsen-Jolly Funeral Home, Spearfish)

Eva Pope

Eva Marie Pope, 78, 1100 Sunset Dr., Mandan, died Aug. 29, 1998, at her residence.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Christ the King Church, Mandan, with the Revs. William Fahnlander and John Kuhn officiating.

Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation begins today from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

A Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. today, followed by a parish rosary at 7 p.m. and a parish vigil at 7:30 p.m., all at the funeral home.

Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Eva (Gress) Pope was born May 6, 1920 in rural Mandan. She was the daughter of the late Anton and Catherine (Boehm) Gress.

Eva attended schools in the Mandan area. On Dec. 2, 1939, she married Thomas J. Pope at St. Deaconnes Hospital, Bergstrom Supply and was a volunteer at the Rehabilitation Center in Mandan.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Christian Mothers and organized the Quilters Club at Christ the King Parish.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas J.; one son, Robert, Mandan; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Jerry Zander, Mandan, Anita and Warren Baillie, Denver, Colo., Laura and Larry Anderson, Albuquerque, N.M., and Laine and Michael Heinsohn, Mandan; seven grandchildren, Nancy, Thomas, Lana, Stacy, Christopher, Ryan and Catherine; six great-grandchildren, Brock, Alec, Mason, Mariah, Sarah and Evan; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Clarence Gress, Deming, N.M., and Anton and Lila Gress, Glendive, Mont.; and one sister, Rosemary Pope, Las Cruces, N.M.

She was preceded in death by her parents. (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)

Albert Voss

DICKINSON -- Albert Voss, 83, Dickinson, died Sept. 1, 1998, in a Dickinson health center.

Arrangements are pending with Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Monica Sobo

DICKINSON -- Monica M. (Hecker) Sobo, 75, Dickinson, died Aug. 30, 1998, in a Dickinson hospital.

Private family funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, at Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Dickinson.

She is survived by four sisters, Anna Obritsch, Belfield, Elizabeth Hartinger, Dickinson, Emily Knudtson, Fairfield, Frances Traver, Thompson Falls, Mont.; three brothers, Andrew Hecker, Dickinson, and Anton and Raymond Hecker, both of Fairfield. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Barney Schutzman

RICHARDTON -- Barney Schutzman, 86, formerly of Richardton, died Aug. 31, 1998, in the Garrison nursing home.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. (Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson)

Layton Olson

Layton Olson, 23, Bismarck, and formerly of Dickinson and Belfield, died Aug. 31, 1998, in a Dickinson hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Thursday, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Belfield.

Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, north of Killdeer, at 1 p.m. MDT Thursday.

He is survived by his father, Dwight, Belfield; his mother, Etta Olson, Dickinson; one sister, Karmin Olson, Dickinson; one brother, Bucky Olson, Williston; and his maternal grandmother, Mildred Burian, Dickinson. (Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson)

Glenn Seibel

FARGO -- Dr. Glenn Willis Seibel, 78, Fargo, died Aug. 28, 1998, in a Fargo hospital.

Services were held on Sept. 1, 1998, at Faith United Methodist Church, Fargo.

Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; two sons, Glenn, Bemidji, Minn., and Bruce, Fargo; two daughters, Barbara Franke, Mandan, and Joellyn Seibel, Finley; and three sisters, Doris Faul, Fargo, Joyce Faul, Fargo, and Elaine Pomeroy, Grand Rapids, Mich. (Korsmo Funeral Service, Moorhead, Minn.)

Sarah Salveson

WILLISTON -- Sarah Nelson Salveson, 93, Williston, died Aug. 31, 1998, in a Williston nursing home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Williston.

Further arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Lydia Emil

Lydia Emil, 90, Minneapolis, formerly of Max, died Aug. 30, 1998, at her home.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.

Burial will take place in Greatstone Cemetery, rural Benedict.

She is survived by one sister, Louise Wudtke, Minneapolis; two sons, Richard Emil, Mattydale, N.Y., and Russell Emil, Leadville, Colo.; and two daughters, Beverly Emil and Louise Gowell, Minneapolis. (Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison)
