Alice Hanson, 79, Bismarck, formerly of Washburn, died April 1, 1999, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Washburn. Burial will be in Birka Lutheran Cemetery, rural Washburn.

She is survived by three sisters, Hazel Peterson, Bismarck, Adeline Reinke, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Esther Schearer, Glendive, Mont.; and two brothers, Verner, Washburn, and Melvin, Bismarck. (Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn)

Marcus Zent
DICKINSON -- Marcus Zent, 74, Dickinson, died March 31, 1999, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Dickinson.

MOTT -- Pat Jahner, 73, Mott, died March 31, 1999, in the Mott nursing home. Services will be 10 a.m. MDT Monday at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Mott. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan. Further arrangements are pending with Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott.

KILLDEER -- Nick Fettig, 82, Killdeer, died April 2, 1999, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. MST Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Killdeer. Further arrangements are pending with Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

DICKINSON -- Francis H. Kelly, 83, Dickinson, died April 2, 1999. Services will be 10 a.m. MDT Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickisnon. Further arrangements are pending with Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Adam Klug Jr.
DICKINSON -- Adam Klug Jr., 64, Dickinson, died April 2, 1999, at his home. Arrangements are pending with Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Frieda Acheson
Frieda Acheson, 83, Bismarck, formerly of Linton, died April 2, 1999, in a Mandan care center. Arrangements are pending with Bismarck Funeral Home.

Pat Jahner
MOTT -- Pat Jahner, 73, Mott, died March 31, 1999, in the Mott nursing center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday, at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Mott, with the Rev. James Reardon officiating. Burial will be at 1-30 p.m. CDT Tuesday, at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan.

Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. MDT today, and 9-10 a.m. MDT Monday, both at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott. A rosary service will be said at 7 p.m. MDT tonight at the funeral home.

Perpetua "Pat" Jean Jahner was born Nov. 25, 1925, in the Sheffield community to Dominic and Catherine (Greff) Wandler. She attended St. Pius Catholic School in Sheffield. Pat moved to Fargo where she was employed for two years. She then returned to the Sheffield community to her parents' home. On July 10, 1947, she married Paul Jahner at St. Pius Catholic Church. They moved to Dickinson and in 1955, moved to Mott where they raised their family. Pat was active in St. Vincent's Catholic Church and School, and in her community throughout her life. After raising her children, she took up painting and golfing. Pat and Paul travelled extensively after his retirement. She was diagnosed with cancer in 1995 and since has fought it courageously.

Grateful to have shared her life are her husband, Paul; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Wayne Jahner and his fiance, Lori Bosch, Bismarck, and Allan and Janey Jahner, Casselberry, Fla.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Chuck Haeflinger, Chino Hills, Calif., Laura and Abdul Kabir, Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., and Janice and Rich Meade, Simi Valley, Calif.; five sisters and one brother-in-law, Magdalen Schoch, New England, Catherine Fisher, Roseburg, Ore., Lorraine and Albert Kudrna, Bismarck, Florence Chadderdon, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Bridget and Pete Messer, Tacoma, Wash.; four grandchildren, Kari, Michael, Kelly and Daniel Jahner, all of Bismarck.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jerome and Dominic Wandler; and one sister, Genevieve Vondrachek.

Frieda Acheson
Frieda Acheson, 83, Bismarck, and formerly of Linton, died April 2, 1999, in a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Faith Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Joel Sherer officiating. Burial will be in Linton at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, at Bismarck Funeral Home, and will continue at the church one hour prior to services.

Frieda was born 13[1/2] miles east of Linton in Emmons County to Martin and Elizabeth (Hoff) Dockter on April 4, 1915. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and in June of 1928 was confirmed in the lutheran church at Linton.

Frieda married Earl Louis Acheson on Oct. 1, 1941, at Linton. They farmed in the Winona area until September 1957, when they moved to Linton. Earl passed away on May 18, 1959. Frieda was a devout Christian and devouted her life to her church and her Hannah Circle at Peace Lutheran Church. She also taught Sunday School for 19 years. While living in Linton, she made a living for 14 years making quilts.

In August of 1986, Frieda moved to Crescent Manor in Bismarck. In November 1986, she transferred her membership to Faith Lutheran Church. She then joined Friendship Circle and Mary Martha Circle, and was active in Women of the Lutheran Church. Frieda was also active in the Republican Women.

Frieda leaves three daughters and sons-in-law, Neva and Ron Carlisle, Bismarck, Mabel and Jim Cowell, Lake Isabel, and Cora and Art Nagel, Pulaski, Wis.; four granddaughters and four step-grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters and eight step-great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline and Harry Rundle, Hopkinsville, Ky., and Regina and John Schwartz, Tucson, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Henry, George and Martin; two sisters, Anna and Selma. Also two sisters and a brother who died in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Faith Lutheran Church or donor's choice.

Barbetta Pope
Barbetta Ilene Pope, 58, died March 31, 1999, in Cottage Grove, Minn. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Verle Reinicke officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue until service time on Monday.

Barbetta was born on July 4, 1940, in Wilton, the daughter of Martin and Ann (Haluck) Swindling. She was raised and educated in Mandan. On March 29, 1958, she married Henry D. Pope in Kankakee, Ill.

She is survived by her husband, Henry, Hastings, Minn.; one son, Henry, Osceola, Wis.; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Keith Schaff, Cottage Grove; four grandchildren; her mother, Ann Ripplinger, Mandan; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Dennis Swindling, and Fred and Cheryl Ripplinger, all from Mandan; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marie Hatley, Margie and Dennis Pulkrabek, Bernadette and Larry Leingang, Bonnie and Jim Klemin, and Joan Vadner, all of Mandan; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Diane Schmidt, Mandan, Shirley Schantz, Prescott, Ariz., and Mary Williams, Alexandria, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her father, Martin; her stepfather, Fred Ripplinger; one brother, David; and one sister, Linda Maxon. (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)

Elizabeth Baumgartner
Elizabeth Baumgartner, 72, St. Vincent's Care Center, Bismarck, died April 2, 1999, at the care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at St. Vincent's Care Center Chapel with the Rev. John O'Leary officiating. Spring burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and from 12:30-2 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Vincent's Care Center.

Elizabeth Scherr was born on Aug. 17, 1926, in Linton, the daughter of Frank and Katherine (Dosch) Scherr. She was raised and educated in Linton. After her education, she moved to Bismarck where she worked for St. Alexius in the Central Supply Division. Betty married Oscar Baumgartner on Nov. 8, 1947.

She enjoyed raising her children and living a simple life. She suffered a stroke in March of 1992, and entered St. Vincent's Care Center in May of 1992.

Betty is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Dan Mattern, Bismarck; three sons, Rodney and James, both of Fargo, and Randy, Bismarck; two grandchildren, Jeff and David Mattern, both of Bismarck; one sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Ted Thurn, Bismarck; and one sister-in-law, Genevieve Scherr, Mandan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Frank, Martin and Anthony. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)

Adam Klug Jr.
DICKINSON -- Adam Klug Jr., 64, Dickinson, died April 2, 1999, at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Tuesday, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dickinson. Military graveside services will be held at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Dickinson.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. MDT today, and 8 a.m.-noon MDT Monday, both at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. There will be a Knights of Columbus Council No. 1515 rosary said at 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Adam Klug Jr. was born on April 27, 1934, in Dickinson, the son of Adam and Margaret (Weisgerber) Klug. He was raised and educated in Dickinson. Adam had attended four years and graduated from Assumption Abbey High School, Richardton.

He served in the United States Army from May 12, 1955, until his honorable discharge on March 21, 1957. Adam then returned to Dickinson where he worked at the Dickinson Creamery and Schnell Linoleum for a period of time.

Adam married Marlene Kudrna on June 18, 1958, in New Hradec. In 1972, he began working for TMI in Dickinson and after 24 years with them, he retired in 1997. Mrs. Klug died on Aug. 4, 1989.

Adam is survived by four children, Lori (Paul) Feldman, Bismarck, Jeff (Sheryl) Klug, Utah, Russ (DeLonnes) Klug, and Scott Klug, all of Dickinson; one sister, Selma (Tom) Heck, Scott City, Kan.; four brothers, Bernard (Betty) Klug and George (Gloria) Klug, all of Dickinson; and Dave (Jean) Klug and Paul (Shirley) Klug, Idaho; and 13 grandchildren. Harold Mellen
Harold James "Jim" Mellen, 64, Lake Elmo, Minn., and formerly of Bismarck and Detroit, Mich., died April 2, 1999, at Lake Elmo. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Oakdale, Minn. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.

He retired as CEO of MDU Resources Group, Inc.

He is survived by his wife, Joan McIsaac Mellen; his children, Harold J. III, Suzanne, Jonathan and Patrick; his brother, Thomas, Buffalo, N.Y.; and his sister, Carol Adelmann, Dearborn Heights, Mich.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph; and his parents. (Wulff-Woodlane Mortuary, Woodbury, Minn.)

Francis Kelly
DICKINSON -- Francis H. Kelly, 83, Dickinson, died April 2, 1999, in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Dickinson.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine; three daughters, Tillie Anderson, Las Vegas, Nev., Lorraine Stevens, Missoula, Mont., and Linda Michaels, Dickinson; one brother, Fabian, Dickinson; and one sister, Margaret Holt, Mount Lake Terrace, Wash. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Esther Dunlap
Esther E. Dunlap, 92, Boulder, Colo., and formerly of Lemmon, S.D., died March 31, 1999, in a Boulder hospital. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Greenhill Cemetery, Lemmon.

She is survived by one son, Wesley, Normal, Ill.; one daughter, Joyce Peterson, Boulder; two brothers, Ralph Larson, Springfield, Ohio, and Wiley Larson, Beloit, Wis.; and three sisters, Ann Davis, Vivian Borchers and Bernice Marlow, all of Rochford, Ill. (Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Lemmon)

Mary Smith
FARGO -- Mary I. Smith, 82, Fargo, died March 28, 1999, in a Fargo hospital. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Gethsemene Cathedral, Fargo.

WILLISTON -- Willard Jeannotte, 58, Williston, died April 2, 1999, in the Williston nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Alice Jensen
WILLISTON -- Alice Jensen, 93, Williston, died April 2, 1999, at her home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Arthur Martin
HARVEY -- Arthur Martin, 82, Harvey, died April 3, 1999, in the Harvey hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Bethel Baptist Church, Harvey. Further arrangements are pending with Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Viola Johnson
Viola Johnson, 90, Bismarck, died April 3, 1999, in a Litchfield, Minn., hospital. Arrangements are pending with Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck.

Frank Feist
Frank P. Feist, 79, Bismarck, died March 31, 1999, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be 10-30 a.m. Tuesday at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, with the Rev. Leonard Eckroth. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home, Linton. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services at the church.

Frank was born Feb. 19, 1920, in Zeeland, the son of Peter and Elizabeth (Gross) Feist. He lived there until the age of 9, when the family moved to the Wynona area, southwest of Linton. He married Marie Eva Nagel on Feb. 7, 1942, in Krassna.

Frank served during World War II in the 260th Army Signal Construction Corps. He served in the South Pacific Islands from 1942 until 1945.

After his discharge, Frank and Eva farmed southwest of Linton in the Wynona area until 1953, when they moved to Strasburg. He was employed by Wendelin Senger and later started his own business, Frank's Repair.

Frank was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and was a life member of the VFW.

He will always be remembered for his love of family, friends and especially farming.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Eva, Bismarck; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Patricia Feist, Vista, Calif.; two daughters, DeVonne and Denise Cotton, both of Bismarck; one granddaughter, Shanna, Bismarck; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Clemens and Phyllis, Milwaukee, Andrew, Linton, and Wendelin, Omaha, Neb.; six sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary and Ludwig Klein, Linton, Carol and Ralph Goetsch, Milwaukee, Maggie Jahner and Marcella Keller, both of Linton, Anna Mary Kraft, Roswell, N.M. and Regina Hager, Bismarck.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter; two brothers, Herman and Simon; and one sister, Veronica. (Myers Funeral Home, Linton)
