ZEELAND -- Roy M. Schatz, 80, Zeeland, died July 19, 1997, in the Strasburg nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Zeeland, with burial in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Zeeland.

He is survived by his wife, Julia; one son, Francis, Carver, Minn.; six daughters, Carol Schatz, Mandan, Donna Schumacher, West Fargo, Julie Lee, Sioux Falls, S.D., Sharon Schatz, Onalaska, Texas, Nancy Schatz, West Fargo, and Lorri Klein, Bismarck; one brother, Al, Mandan; and eight sisters, Sister Michaline Schatz, St. Paul, Minn., Lillian Welder, Zeeland, Elizabeth Wolf, Othello, Wash., Hilda Weigel, Minneapolis, Katie Hulm, Hague, Eugenia Welk, Rita Gefre and Rose Kraft, all of Strasburg. Alvin Holzworth
Alvin Holzworth, 69, 725 S. 12th St., died July 19, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Church of the Nazarene in Bismarck, with the Rev. Ernie Hockett officiating. Cremation will follow the church service, with internment in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Alvin was born Oct. 5, 1927, in Herreid, S.D., to John and Katie (Libbs) Holzworth. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from May 1951 until May 1953. After being discharged from the military he worked construction with the Mandan Refinery. He later worked water and sewage with Reinhold Delzer Construction Co., as a crane operator for John Meisner, and finally worked for North Dakota Concrete Products until his retirement in 1989.

He was a member of American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Violet; three sons, Robert and Daniel, both of Bismarck, and Kenneth, Florida; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Tillie and Elmer Wentz, Edna and Erphrain Kapp, Arlene Conitz and Betty Holzworth, all of Bismarck, and Alvina and Charles Hamel, Napoleon; and two brothers, Eugene and Floyd, both of Bismarck; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and one sister.

Luella Thompson
JAMESTOWN -- Luella Thompson, 72, Jamestown, died June 3, 1997, in Jamestown. Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Woodworth with burial in Gem Cemetery.

She is survived by two sons, Steven, Jamestown, and Stuart, Steele; two brothers, Leo Schelske, Fargo, and Vernon Schelske, Medina; and three sisters, Norma Schweitzer, Eugene, Ore., June Bader, Medina, and Laura Eberhardt, Jamestown. (Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.)

Archie Olson
ORISKA -- Archie Olson, 82, Oriska, died June 5, 1997, in the Valley City hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley City, with burial in Memory Gardens, rural Valley City.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; six daughters, Carolyn Fischer, Bismarck, Karen Zaffke, Pine River, Minn., Kathryn Slama, Boise, Idaho, Susan Domingo, Missoula, Mont., Jenine Lysne, Oriska, and Barbara Zerface, Hope; and two brothers, Vince, Valley City, and David, Oriska. Codelia Koenig
KULM -- Codelia V. Koenig, 86, Kulm, died June 4, 1997, in the Wishek hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Kulm, with burial in the church cemetery. (Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Kulm)

Aimee Knispel
MCINTOSH, S.D. -- Aimee A. Knispel, 87, Bismarck, died June 4, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Lemmon.

Johanna Frankfurth
Johanna Frankfurth, 93, Bismarck, died June 2, 1997, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Carlsen Funeral Home, Ashley, with burial in Emmaus Cemetery, rural Ashley.

She is survived by one daughter, Irene Frankfurth, Ashley.

Lucas Heisler
ESMOND -- Lucas Heisler, 83, Esmond, died June 3, 1997, in the Rugby hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Esmond, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; four daughters, Isabelle Wentz, Kent, Wash., Bernice Breiter, San Ramon, Calif., Evelyn Volk, Lynnwood, Wash., and Donna Bechthold, Excelior, Minn.; two sons, Victor, Milpitas, Calif., and Marvin, Kent; and four sisters, Magdalena Bosch, Devils Lake, Barbara Ehli, Minot, Michaelena Ludwig, Pelican Rapids, Minn., and Catherine Solberg, Fessenden. Albert Renner
WASHBURN -- Albert Renner, 86, Washburn, died May 31, 1997, in the Underwood nursing home. Services were held June 3 at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn. Burial was in Underwood Cemetery, with military rites by the Underwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

Renner was born Feb. 4, 1911, at Beulah, to Fred and Helene (Bauer) Renner. He lived with his parents five miles north of Beulah until he was nine years old. They then moved to rural Washburn where he attended rural school. He later moved to a farm southwest of Underwood where he farmed with his father. He served in the U.S. Army from November 1942 to November 1945. He received a number of decorations and citations for his service having spent most of his enlistment serving overseas. After his discharge he returned home to farm with his father at rural Underwood and also with his brother, Arnold, at rural Washburn. He also did carpentry, construction work and worked as a mechanic at implement dealerships at Underwood. He became a resident of Redwood Village at Wilton in March and for the past two weeks had lived at Prairieview Nursing Home at Underwood.

He was a member of VFW at Underwood. He enjoyed hobbies of hunting, fishing and fixing almost anything that needed repair. He enjoyed a good sense of humor and especially loved his grandnieces and nephews.

He is survived by one sister, Helen Peeler, Lancaster, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and three brothers.

Alice Sand
Alice Louise Sand, 41, Plattsmouth, Neb., died May 31, 1997, in the Omaha, Neb. nursing home. Services were held June 3 at First Presbyterian Church, Plattsmouth, with the Rev. Dan Molyneux officiating. Burial was in Wishek Cemetery.

Alice was born Oct. 12, 1955, in Bismarck, the daughter of Albert and Luella (Ulmer) Ackerman. She grew up on the family farm near Wishek and received her education in Wishek Public Schools, graduating from Wishek High School in 1973. Alice received an associate of science degree in accounting from North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, in 1975. She was employed by the State of North Dakota and Basin Electric in Bismarck. While working in Bismarck, she continued her education at the University of Mary in Bismarck, and received a bachelor of science degree in accounting, graduating summa cum laude.

Alice married Jerry L. Sand at Wishek, Aug. 30, 1986. After their marriage she moved to Plattsmouth and was employed at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha as an accountant.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Plattsmouth.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; her parents, Albert and Luella Ackerman, Wishek; one sister, Ruby Ackerman, Fargo; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Paul, Wishek, and Waldo and Susan, Aurora, Colo.; and one nephew, Kenneth Ackerman, Aurora.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and one brother, Daniel Ackerman. (Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek)

E. Russel Coutts
UNDERWOOD -- E. Russel Coutts, 73, Underwood, died June 4, 1997, at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Underwood, with burial in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Goetz Funeral Home, Underwood, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Ernest Russel Coutts was born Dec. 3, 1923, at Bowman, to Ernest and Emma (Taylor) Coutts, where he was raised and educated. He worked on the family farm eight miles southwest of Bowman. Later the family moved into Bowman. He served in the U.S. Army from December 1943 to June 1946. He married Mary Heater, July 19, 1945, at St. Joseph, Mo. After his discharge they bought a farm near Bowman where he farmed and raised sheep until 1955. They then moved to various places and was manager or assistant manager of grain elevators. These places included Crosby for two years, Grenora for two years, Appam for seven years, Velva for four years, Shelby, Mont. for one year, Regan for two years, Underwood for eight years and Falkirk Mine for 13 years. In January 1997 he drove school bus for the Underwood School District.

He was a life member of Underwood Veterans of Foreign Wars, served on the fire department and city council. He has served on church boards and was a Sunday school teacher. Russ was also a past member of Minot Gun Club and Riverdale American Legion. He served as quarter master of Underwood VFW. He enjoyed farming, raising horses and loved to go trail riding.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Jackie, Underwood; two daughters, Mary Ellen Dixon, Minot, and Nancy Jane Chandler, Norman, Okla.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two brothers, Donald, Red Lodge, Mont., and William, Rhame; and one sister, Elinor Rediski, Livingston, Mont.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sons-in-law.

Kamella Keys
GARRISON -- Kamella (Boger) Keys, 23, Garrison, died June 4, 1997, of injuries she sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garrison, with the Rev. Dick Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in Garrison Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Paul Kolden, Brian Nelson, Joel Bauer, Scott Graber, Rick Alexander and Mike Helle. Honorary casketbearers will be Garrison High School Class of 1992 and all of Kami's many friends.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Kamella "Kami" Hope Boger was born June 21, 1974, at Bismarck, the daughter of Danny and Tammy Boger. Kami attended kindergarten at Robinson Public School and began first grade at Garrison Public School. She was involved in chorus, danceline and cheerleading. She graduated from Garrison High School in 1992. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison. Kami's bubbly personality earned her the Miss Congeniality Award at the Miss North Dakota Teen Pageant. She attended Headquarters Academy of Hair Design in Minot and graduated in 1994. She was employed by Shear Pleasure in Garrison. She was once married to Derrick Keys and the couple lived in Dickinson where Kaim was employed by Hair It Is. She moved to Bismarck in 1996 and worked at Regis Hairstylists.

She is survived by her parents, Danny and Tammy Boger, Garrison; her grandparents, JanRose and Lowell Jasper, Robinson, and Beverly and William Boger, Garrison; her great-grandmother, Mary E. White, Steele; her special friend, Sam Schaaf, Bismarck; her aunts and uncles, Candace Hackman, Bismarck, James and Sheryl Jasper, Erda, Utah, Janeanne and Brad Bischke, Watertown, S.D., Miles and " Jasper, Linton, Jodi Jasper, Bismarck, Audrey Shipman, Bismarck, and William Jr. and Pam Boger, Gillette, Wyo.; several cousins, Bobby Jo and Joshua Hackman, Robinson, Jennifer and Asutin Jasper, Erda, Eric and Boyd Bischke, Watertown, Alexis and Matthew Jasper, Linton, Haley Pleines, Woodworth, Kristi Miller, Alamose, Colo., Kevin Harris, Grants Pass, Ore., Ryan Shipman, Bismarck, and Justin and Steven Boger, Gillette.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Daniel and Wilhemina Boger, George and Beatrice Benedict, Emil and Edna Jasper and Frederick "Bud" White.

Geraldine Haar
Geraldine Vaughn Haar, 65, Bismarck, originally from Tolstoy, S.D., died Oct. 19, 1996, in her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Parkview Bible Church, Bismarck, with the Revs. Gordon Brown and Alan Hathaway officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in German Zion Congregational Cemetery, Tolstoy.

At the funeral service there will be a tribute to Geraldine rendered by Sara Mitzel. Organist will be Lydia Soderberg, and the the congregation will sing, ``When we all get to Heaven," and ``Blessed Assurance." The Rev. Alan Hathaway will sing ``No one Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus." There will also be a recording of Julia Haar singing ``Great is Thy Faithfulness."

Ushers will be Harold Roufley, Albert Soderberg and Mike Nygaard. Casketbearers at Bismarck will be Jim Mitzel, Ron Glaser, Jeff Raszler, Bruce Lavrensz and Matt Mitzel, all of Bismarck, and Chris Heim, Mandan. Casketbearers at Tolstoy will be Niel Haar, Lyle Huber and Todd Brandt, all of Bowdle, Gaven Banik, Sioux Falls, Nick Stotz, Wagner, and David Walker, Tolstoy.

Visitation will begin at noon today at the church, and will continue from 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, Bowdle.

Geraldine Vaughn Stotz was born Oct. 5, 1931, on the family farm near Tolstoy, to Caroline (Perman) and August P. Stotz. She attended school in Tolstoy for four years, staying at her grandparents home in Tolstoy during the school week. The next four years of school she attended Sherman Township Rural School near her parents' farm. She attended Bowdle High School her freshman and sophomore years. The last two years of school she attended Onaka High School graduating May 18, 1950. She married Milbert D. Haar at Camp Byron Church Camp, Colman, S.D., with the Rev. Ford Hardy conducting the ceremony. The newlyweds first lived on the campus of Northwest Bible College in Minot. Geraldine attended classes for the year they lived there. In 1952 Milbert began his career as a Church of God pastor. This profession took Geraldine and Milbert to Lebanon, S.D., Winfield, Kan., Parson, Kan., Lignite, N.D., Livingston, Mont., Beulah, N.D., Mosinee, Wis., Clinton, Ill., Greenrock, Ill., and in 1986 to Bismarck. Milbert retired in 1993 and he and Geraldine continued to make Bismarck their home.

Geraldine was very active in the music ministry at every parish Milbert served, as well as the church's Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking and contributed to many of the church's bake sales. During their tenure in Mosinee, Wis. (1966-1980), Geraldine built up a very strong youth church choir, serving as their director. She loved children and taught Sunday School in past years. She at one time wished to be a missionary and fulfilled that by her faithful service to the church. She was known for her organ playing ability and always played at the Church of God Annual Camp meetings

She is survived by her husband, The Rev. Milbert D. Haar; two sons, David P. Haar, McDonough, Ga., and Tim P. Haar, Bismarck; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Rachel and Ron Fandler, Gresham, Wis., Julia Haar, Reverdale, Ga., and Priscilla Haar, and Sara and Matt Mitzel, all of Bismarck; one brother, Randall Stotz, Onaka, S.D.; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Rose Mattern
Rose Mattern, 87, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, died Oct. 21, 1996, in the nursing home. Services will be held at noon Thursday at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with the Revs. Charlie Heidt and Hugo Blotsky officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, where a rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Symphrosa ``Rose" Harsche was born June 23, 1909, in rural Strasburg, the daughter of George and Barbara (Bachmeier) Harsche. Her family homesteaded southwest of Shields. She received her education in rural schools near Shields. She married John Blotsky, Nov. 11, 1930. They lived on a farm southwest of Shields. John Blotsky died Nov. 17, 1935. She then moved to Shields and married Ray Winters, Feb. 22, 1938. He died later that year. She then moved to Selfridge. On Sept. 26, 1949, she married Conrad Mattern. They moved to McIntosh, S.D., where they operated a grocery store. Conrad died in 1956. She then moved to Bismarck.

Rose was a mail clerk for 13 years with the North Dakota State Auditor's Office, and also worked two years in the State Tax Commissioner's Office, before her retirement.

She was a member of Retired Senior Volunteer Program for 12 years. Rose was named ``Volunteer of the Week." She was a volunteer worker with North Dakota Aging Network for 10 years. She volunteered for Medcenter One's Wellness Center for four years, and North Dakota Lung Association for seven years. She also volunteered for the nutrition program at Crescent Manor, the Mental Health Association and North Dakota Heart Association.

She entered Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in June 1993. She was a member of St. Mary's Altar Society and St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Isabell and Duane Aune, Bismarck, and Marie Harper, Bismarck; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, John Harsche, Bismarck.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; one son, Joseph; her parents; three sisters; and one brother.

Rudolph Trautman
GACKLE -- Rudolph Trautman, 89, Gackle, died Oct. 20, 1996, in Jamestown. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at English Lutheran Church, Medina, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; three sons, William, Enderlin, Duane, Medina, and Norman, Billings, Mont.; one daughter, MoDean McCullough, Moorpark, Calif.; five sisters, Dollie Larson and Millie Mrozek, both of Jamestown, Martha Hanson, Fargo, Tillie Scaletta,, Sacramento, Calif., and Sophia Grentz, Williston. Louis Koppinger
DICKINSON -- Louis Koppinger, 72, Dickinson, died Oct. 18, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Lefor, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Donnella; one daughter, Renae Jahner, Mott; three sons, Terence, Leonard and Darrell, all of Dickinson; one brother, George, Dickinson; and one sister, Ann Schneider, Broomfield, Colo. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Harold Collins
Harold L. Collins, 71, Sun City West, Ariz., formerly of Steele, died Oct. 10, 1996. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Steele, with burial in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

He is survived by his wife, Berenice; one daughter, Twyla; two sons, Richard and Douglas; and one brother, Larry.

Edna Mormann
MINOT -- Edna Mormann, 82, Minot, died Oct. 19, 1996, in a Minot nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Nursing Home Chapel, with burial in Rosehill Memorial Park, both of Minot.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew; one son, Russ, Minot; and one sister, Ivy Ungerecht, Glen Ullin. (Thomas Funeral Home, Minot)

Rose Reynolds
Rose Reynolds, 92, Mandan, died Oct. 21, 1996, in the Mandan hospital. Arrangements are pending at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan.

Henry Dvorak
DICKINSON -- Henry S. Dvorak, 76, Dickinson, died Oct. 20, 1996, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT today at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; four sons, Delvern and Larry, both of Manning, Hank, Mandan, and Marnee, New Bern, N.C.; two daughters, Karen Roller, Bismarck, and Susan Nord, Grand Forks; three brothers; and five sisters. (Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson)
