Eastburn White
STEELE -- Eastburn R. "Buck" White, 71, Steele, died Dec. 10, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Steele, with the Rev. Sharon Kapsch officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. today, at Eastgate Steele Memorial Chapel, Steele.

Buck was born on July 6, 1926, in Buckeye Township, Kidder County, the son of Frederick R. and Mary (Eastburn) White.

He attended Buckeye School and Dawson Public Schools and Technical School before entering the service.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a sergeant in the United States Air Force.

After returning home, he worked as a farmhand. He married Marlys L. Thorsness on April 22, 1951, at Trinity Lutheran in Jamestown.

He took a position as a parts manager for International Harvester in Steele and later was parts manager for Pepple Machine Co. and drove their bulk fuel delivery truck.

In 1960, he became the manager of the Farmers and Merchants Oil Company in Steele, serving 37 years. He went into semi-retirement in 1986.

He enjoyed fixing anything and everything for family and friends. He loved to play the game of golf and spent many hours at Cottonwood Golf Club, not only golfing, but helping with the upkeep of the Clubhouse and the maintenance and grooming of the course.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Steele, the City Council, Steele Housing Board, Steele Fire Department, the American Legion, Lions Club and Cottonwood Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marlys; three daughters and one son-in-law, Bonnie Voss and Trudy Wise, both of Bismarck, and Dawn and Craig Fettig of Redmond, Ore.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kim and Julie White and Dean White, all of Bismarck; eight grandchildren, Bryan and Kevin Voss, Kari and Dena Wise, Trev and Kristen White, Erik White and Quinn Fettig; his mother, Mary E. White; two brothers, Timothy T. and Frederick R. Jr.; and three sisters, Carolyn Waddell, Martha Thorsness and Janrose Jasper.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick R. Sr.; one sister, Sharlow Neustel; one brother, Joseph; and one grandchild, Jamie White. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)

Amos Wike
KILLDEER -- Amos C. Wike, 82, Killdeer, died Dec. 10, 1997, in a Killdeer nursing home. Services will be 1:30 p.m. MST Saturday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Killdeer. Burial will be in Killdeer Cemetery.

He is survived by one son, Merv of Dickinson; and one daughter, Peggy Wanner of Belfield. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Elsie Oliver
Elsie Oliver, 102, McClusky, died Dec. 12, 1997, in a Bismarck nursing home. Further arrangements are pending with Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Kathryn Iverson
WILLISTON -- Kathryn Iverson, 95, Williston, died Dec. 12, 1997, in a Williston nursing home. Arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Herbert Czeczok
Herbert Czeczok, 83, 218 W. Sweet Ave., Bismarck, died Dec. 12, 1997, at his home. Arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Gerald Leingang
Gerald C. Leingang, 46, rural Mandan, died Dec. 12, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan. Further arrangements are pending with Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Ada Larson
WILLISTON -- Ada Mcgee Larson, 68, Williston, died Dec. 11, 1997, in a Williston hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Jacqueline Evans
FARGO -- Jacqueline A. Evans, 50, Fargo, died Dec. 10, 1997, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at noon Monday, at St. Mary's Cathedral, Fargo. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

She is survived by her parents, Anton and Signe Lesmeister, Bismarck; and one brother, Lauren Lesmeister, Berkley, Calif. (Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo)

Henry Weber
Henry Weber, 76, Dickinson, died Dec. 11, 1997, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Monday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; two sisters, Eva Weber and Agnes Wychanko, both of Dickinson; and one brother, Tony, Dickinson. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Ruth Schlenker
WISHEK -- Ruth Schlenker, 81, Wishek, died Dec. 11, 1997, in the Wishek nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, at Haut Funeral Chapel, Wishek. Burial will be in Wishek City Cemetery.

She is survived by her step-children, Milbert, Tacoma, Wash., Walter, Wishek, Meta Heiser, Mesa, Ariz., Dan, St. Peter, Minn., and Donna Gaul, Ashley. (Haut Funeral Home, Wishek)

Clara Stanley
HAZEN -- Clara Stanley, 70, Hazen, died Dec. 11, 1997, in a Glen Ullin nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Monday, at Salem United Methodist Church, Hazen. Burial will be in Hazen City Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Gay; one son, Steven, Grafton; five daughters, Cheryl Wiedrich, Beulah, Marlys Frederiksen, Montrose, Minn., Debra Jonker, Breckenridge, Minn., Betty Randall, Robinsdale, Minn, and Jacque Zinniel, Blaine, Minn.; and two sisters, Frieda Peterson, Stanton, and Hilda Tice, Tacoma, Wash. Barbara Bonnet
Barbara Hanson Bonnet, 67, Lolo, Mont., formerly of Turtle Lake, died Dec. 9, 1997, in a Missoula, Mont., hospital from complications of diabetes and heart problems.

Barbara was born Aug. 16, 1930, the daughter of Harold and Frances Hanson. She attended grade school and high school in Turtle Lake. She was a graduate of the class of 1948, and attended one year at Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa.

She served on the Camp Fire Council for many years in Glendive and served on the Heart, Cancer, M.S., and M.D. drives. She was also active in the Women of the Moose.

She is survived by her husband, Ted; five daughters, Carol Bonnet, Missoula, Mont., Sharon Box, Kalispel, Mont., Bonnie Sounders, Lakeside, Mont., Shelly Knoll, Glendive, Mont., and Tana Galland, Missoula; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pat Weber, Scranton, and Joan Maertens, Mason City, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Wendell.

Olaf Drovdal Jr.
WATFORD CITY -- Olaf H. "Bud" Drovdal, Jr., 79, Watford City, died Dec. 11, 1997, in the Watford City hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at First Lutheran Church, Watford City, with the Rev. Tom Stenzel officiating. Burial will be in Wilmington Lutheran Cemetery, Arnegard.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, and 10 a.m. to noon Monday, all at Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Olaf H. "Bud" was born July 3, 1918, in Arnegard, the son of Olaf and Anna (Stenehjem) Drovdal Sr. He was raised and educated in Arnegard, graduating from high school there in 1936. He attended college and graduated from Mayville State Teacher's College with a teaching certificate. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1940, and went to the music school in Bethesda, Md. He was married to Margaret Morey on March 29, 1943, in St. Paul, Minn. Bud was assigned to the USS Indianapolis based out of Pearl Harbor. The ship had pulled out to sea a day before Pearl Harbor was bombed. He later applied for officer training and was accepted and trained at Northwestern University where he was commissioned as an officer. He later attended Port Director's School and was assigned to Portland, Ore., where he was a port director. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

They returned to Arnegard where he helped his father farm and worked in the family's lumber and implement business. He continued farming all of his life. He taught music, math, and science at several McKenzie County schools. He took over the family implement business and moved it to Watford City. He operated the business until he sold it in 1964. He continued to teach until the early 1970s, continued to live in Watford City and farmed until 1996. He entered the Good Sheperd Nursing Home in November of 1997.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council, sang in the church choir and played in the bell choir. He was a member of American Legion and it's drill team, in which he was a bugler, V.F.W., Sons of Norway, Elks, Watford City Lions, where he was inducted into the N.D. Lions Hall of Fame and served as president and district governor. He was one of the founding members of McKenzie Bay Marine Club, active in the Watford City Chamber of Commerce and served on the Watford City Fire Department. In his younger years, he was active in music, where he played in the U.S. Navy Band, Cowboy Band of Watford City, State Legion Band and the State Elks Band.

He enjoyed playing pinochle and 10[1/2] with his friends in Arnegard and Watford City. He loved flying and owned several planes and served in the Civil Air Patrol.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two sons and daughters-in-law, David "Skip" and Kathy, and Dennis and Pat, all of Arnegard; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dana and Paul Rebelein, New Brighton, Minn., and Deborah and Ronald Peterson, Cascade, Mont.; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Helen and Kermit Larson, Perham, Minn., Ruth Sommerfield, Bozeman, Mont., and Dorothy Ann Honeychurch, Butte, Mont.; one step-brother, George Stenehjem, Edina, Minn.; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Inez; and one grandson, Scott David.

Henry Brigl
Henry "Hank" Brigl, 80, Eugene, Ore., formerly of Huff, died Dec. 3, 1997. Services were held Dec. 6, 1997, at West Lawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Eugene. Burial was in West Lawn Memorial Park, Eugene.

Henry was born Oct. 24, 1917, in Huff, to Lorenz and Rose Brigl. On July 13, 1946, he married Jean Miller in Glendive, Mont. He has been a resident of Eugene since 1946, he worked as a maintenance mechanic for Williams Bakery. He retired in 1984.

He enjoyed camping, traveling, square dancing, ballroom dancing, skiing and music. He was very skilled with his hands and enjoyed building things. He was a regular blood donor and during his lifetime, gave 32 pints of blood.

He was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters, Eagles Lodge and Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; two daughters, Yvonne Noble, La Pine, Ore., and Cynthia Stevens, Eugene; two sons, Rodney and Randy, both of Springfield, Ore.; two brothers, Clemens, Arvada, Colo., and Julius, Bismarck; four sisters, Amelia Hornack and Rosella Heck, both of Everett, Wash., Veronica Zeno, Walnut Creek, Calif., and Marie Albrecht, Bismarck; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Medical Center, in care of the funeral home.

Jeff Arnold
Jeff Arnold, 32, Dallas, formerly of Steele, died Dec. 9, 1997, in Dallas. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Steele.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Funeral Chapel, Steele.

Jeff was the senior pharmacist at Kaiser-Permanente in Dallas. He spent his professional career developing the Oncology and Anticoagulation programs at Kaiser.

Jeff's gift was the care, compassion, and dedication he provided his terminally ill patients. He truly touched many people's lives.

He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Karen; two brothers and sisters-in-law, D.J. and Shelly of Bismarck and Lowell and Lisa of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Debbie of Douglas, Wyo.; two nephews, Dennis III and Charles; his grandparents, Ove and Lou Lunde of Esmond; many loving aunts, uncles and cousins; and his best friend, Fester.

A memorial fund is being set up in memory of Jeff by Kaiser-Permanente for the care and treatment of pediatric oncology.

Julia Bohn
Julia M. Bohn, 90, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, died peacefully on Dec. 12, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Private burial was in Carson Cemetery. (Dakota Memorial Chapel, Bismarck)

Verda Cathers
WILLISTON -- Verda Cathers, 80, Williston, died Dec. 12, 1997, at her home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Faith United Methodist Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending with Fulkerson Funeral Home, Williston.

Herbert Czeczok
Herbert G. Czeczok, 83, 218 W. Sweet Ave. No. 3, Bismarck, died Dec. 12, 1997, at his home, after a lengthy illness. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Church of the Ascension, with the Rev. Marvin Klemmer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today and 1-9 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Herb was born June 23, 1914, in Valley City, the son of Frank and Katherine (Breitbach) Czeczok. He attended school in Van Hook.

He moved to Bismarck in 1928 with his family, where they farmed at what is known as the Tatley Farm.

He married Christine Hartze on Nov. 17, 1941 at St. Mary's Church, Bismarck. They farmed southeast of Bismarck from 1941 until 1984.

Herb sold insurance for Nodak Mutual, Farm Bureau and Continental Insurance Cos. for 22 years.

Herb was a lifetime member of the Bismarck Eagles, and a member of the Moose Club and Rural Fire Department. He served on the Apple Creek School Board, Apple Creek Township Board and as a 4-H Leader for many years.

Herb and Christine travelled and enjoyed retirement.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Christine; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Helen of Duluth, Minn., Larry and Karen of Lincoln and Alfred and Elaine of Bismarck; two daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Ed Movchan of Mandan and Renae and Harold Freuer of Beulah; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Cecilia Tatley of Bismarck, Cyrilla DeStefino and Katherine and Barnie Carnino, all of Auburn, Wash., Eleanor Gayda of Wayzata, Minn., and Andrew Virnig of Bismarck; and two sisters-in-law, Grace Czeczok of Cornforth, Wash., and Betty Czeczok of Westminster, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Irene Papacek and Helen Virnig; and two brothers, Arthur and Alfred. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)
