He served in the US Army during WWII in the Philippines and remained on active duty for six years and four months.

She was born March 9, 1920 in Napoleon, the 11th child of Heinrich and Maria Schuler Junker. She grew up on the family farm and moved to Hardin, MT in 1941.
Alice Schweitzer
Alice E. Schweitzer, 89, Jamestown, died Wednesday May 31, 2000 at Jamestown Hospital.
Alice Kinzler was born Nov. 17, 1910 at Fredonia, the daughter of Christ and Mary (Buerkle) Kinzler. She attended the local rural school where she received her elementary education. She married Fred Schweitzer Nov. 10, 1929 at Lehr.
Simon Gimbel
Simon Henry Gimbel, 89, Hazelton, died at his home May 30, 2000. He was born Jan. 10, 1921 on a farm near Hazelton, the son of Julius and Magdalena (Opp) Gimbel.
Verna Kirschenmann
Verna Kirschenmann, 86, Jamestown, died Friday, June 2, 2000 at her home in Jamestown.
Verna Rau was born Nov. 16, 1913 at the family farm northeast of Napoleon, the daughter of Fred and Magdalena (Raile) Rau. She attended the local rural school where she received her elementary education. She and Adam Kirschenmann were married October 29, 1937 at Streeter.
Budge Remboldt
Reuben Robert "Budge" Remboldt, 81, Mesa, AZ, formerly of Gackle, died Tuesday, May 30, 2000 in Mesa. Survivors include his wife, Annabelle; a son; a daughter; two sisters, and two grandchildren.
Frederick Abell Frederick
George Abell, 86, Billings, MT died at his home of cancer. Fred was born March 14, 1914 in Wishek, the son of Robert and Alvina (Pudwell) Abell.
Clarice Jensen
Clarice Lucille Jensen, 70, died May 31, 2000 in her home at Payson, AZ. A memorial service will be held Fri., June 9, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church in Kintyre.
Clarice was born April 25, 1930 on the family farm at Kintyre, the daughter of Samuel and Clara (Haaland) Storhaug. She grew up on the family farm and received her elementary education in rural Logan County schools.
Marie Braun
Marie Braun, 70, of Tappen, died June 2, 2000 in Medcenter One Hospital, Bismarck following a lengthy illness.
Marie was born February 16, 1930 at Hague, the daughter of John and Teresa (Oches) Keifer. She received her elementary education in rural Emmons County schools and continued to reside on the family farm near Strasburg. Marie married Edmond Braun on July 4, 1949, at St. Aloyius Catholic Church, rural Strasburg.
Tillie Wentz
Mrs. Elmer (Tillie) Wentz, 85, died Monday, June 5 in Bismarck. Alvina Hamel, Napoleon, a sister received word late Monday and arrangements are pending.
Douglas Bothun
Douglas Roger Bothun, 61, Mandan, died May 30, 2000. Doug was born April 29, 1939, the son of Roy and Juliet (Tilbury) Bothun.
Emelia Netz
Emelia Netz, 90, Ellendale, formerly Fredonia, died Sept. 30, 2000, in Prince of Peace Care Center, Ellendale.
Emelia Guggenhiemer was born Sept. 10, 1910 in New Danz, Russia. She moved with her family, near Yale, ID in 1912 and moved with her family to Fredonia in 1919. She married Albert Netz on March 22, 1929 in Fredonia.
Erwin Mayer
Erwin Mayer, 76, Oakes, formerly Gackle, died Sept. 27, 2000, at Oakes Good Samaritan Center.
Mr. Mayer was born Sept. 20, 1924, near Gackle, the son of Bernhard and Christina (Zenker) Mayer. He grew up and attended school in the Gackle and Alfred areas, graduating from Gackle High School.
Mary Cruz
Mary Cruz, 46, Streeter, died September 25, 2000, in the Wishek Community Hospital.
Mary was born August 20, 1954, at Gary, IN, the daughter of Charles and Lyrrell (Hayden) Toth. She grew up in Park Forest South, IL and attended Crete-Monee High School, at Crete, IL. She traveled across the US for several years. Mary settled in California where she attended college and received her nursing certificate as surgical treatment nurse. She later moved to Texas for several years and then worked in Montana and Kansas, before moving to North Dakota. Mary had resided in Streeter since 1998.
John Craig
John Craig, 81, Sheridan, WY died Saturday, September 30, 2000 in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
A private memorial service will be later this week.
John was born October 27, 1918 in Napoleon, ND to James and Isabella (Frank) Craig.
He grew up and attended schools in Napoleon.
He moved to Long Beach, CA during WWII and worked for the Navy in the Naval Shipyard.
Mathilda Dockter
Mathilda Dockter, 105, Streeter, died late Thursday evening, March 29, 2001 at the Ashley Medical Center.
Mathilda Schlenker was born July 31, 1895 at Klositz Bessarabia, South Russia, the daughter of John and Christina (Schlag) Schlenker. In 1902 at the age of 7 she came to the United States with her parents, seven brothers and sisters. The two youngest children became ill and passed away in New York. The family settled in the Gackle area where she attended the local rural school where she received her elementary education. She and August M. Dockter were married Jan. 19, 1915 at the Neudorf Lutheran Church west of Gackle. They made their home on his parents farm for a number of years. In 1953 they moved into Streeter for their retirement and following the death of her husband January 7, 1954, she continued to reside in Streeter.
