Katherine Lippert
NAPOLEON -- Katherine M. Lippert, 79, Napoleon, died Nov. 12, 1998, in the Napoleon care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, with the Rev. James Lauerman officiating. Burial will be in Burnstad Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. today, at the church, with a rosary at 8 p.m.

Katherine was born June 27, 1919, at Napoleon, the daughter of John and Rosalia (Kuhn) Meier. She grew up on the family farm north of Napoleon and received her elementary education in rural Logan County schools. She later moved to the Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn. area, where she lived and worked. She worked at various jobs, including an ammunition factory during World War II.

Katherine returned home and married John L. Lippert June 27, 1951, at Napoleon. Following their marriage they farmed east of Burnstad, for many years. In the early 1960s the family moved to Burnstad, where they lived. Mr. Lippert preceded her in death Sept. 1, 1979. In 1980, Katherine and her son, John, moved to Napoleon and had lived there since that time. She had been a resident of the Napoleon Care Center since January of 1997.

She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church at Napoleon.

Survivors include one daughter, Alice Lippert (John Facada), Burke, Va.; two sons, John M. (Becky) Lippert, Bismarck, and Nick (Kathryn) Meier, Napoleon; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Magdalena Glatt, Mary Engelhardt and Theresa (Reinhold) Eissinger, all of Napoleon, and Ann Bauer, Grafton; and one brother, Joe Meier, Napoleon.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one brother, Steve. (Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon)

Clifford Troftgruben
EDINBURG -- Clifford B. Troftgruben, 87, Edinburg, died Nov. 9, 1998, in the Cavalier hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Edinburg. Burial will be in Odalen Lutheran Cemetery, rural Edinburg.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services, at the church.

Clifford B. Troftgruben was born Aug. 27, 1911, on the family farm near Edinburg, the son of Ludvig and Mary (Sondreson) Troftgruben. He grew up and attended school in Tiber Township, Walsh County. Following his education he farmed on the family farm in Tiber Township. He married Ida Monsebroten Oct. 26, 1936 in Park River. The couple retired and moved to Edinburg in 1986. Ida passed away Dec. 24, 1992. Clifford moved to the Borg Nursing Home in 1995 and in 1997 he moved to Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier.

He was a member of Odalen Lutheran Church and Cemetery Board. He loved hunting and fishing.

He is survived by one son, Burnell (Judy), Park River; one daughter, Jane (Duane) Beck, Underwood; one brother, Lenes (Ernestine), Edinburg; one sister, Lila Sanford, Texas; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ida; one son, Eugene; two grandsons, Michael and Jay; three brothers; and two sisters. (Tollefson Funeral Home, Edinburg)

Myrtle Hoving
WILLISTON -- Myrtle Hoving, 79, Williston, died Nov. 11, 1998, in a Williston nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Bethel Lutheran Home, Williston. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Williston.

She is survived by two sons, Harry Jr., Billing, Mont., and Merlin, Denver; one daughter, Patty Dod, Tallahassee, Fla.; two sisters, Helen Kinney, Bothell, Wash., and Florence Kohl, Wenatchee, Wash.; and one brother, James Ness, Dickinson. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Olive Spenny
LEMMON, S.D. -- Olive J. Spenny, 90, Lemmon, died Nov. 11, 1998, in the Lemmon nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MST Saturday, at Spencer Memorial Presbyterian Church, Lemmon. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Lemmon.

She is survived by three sons, Lynn Kane, Lemmon, George Kane, Sturgis, S.D., and Harvey Kane, Montgomery, Minn.; three daughters, June Filgo, Eufaula, Ala., Carol Pearson, Lusk, Wyo., and Julie Dayton, Lander, Wyo.; two brothers, Dean Wenner, Mount Vernon, Wash., and Frank Wenner, Lemmon; and one sister, Evelyn Hetzel, Anacortes, Wash. Ida Delorme
BELCOURT -- Ida R. Delorme, 91, Belcourt, died Nov. 11, 1998, at Belcourt. Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She is survived by four daughters, Genevieve Short Brant, Grand Forks, Marion Houle, Belcourt, Theresa Mabin, Bismarck, and Evangeline Braun, Minot; three sons, Peter, Peoria, Ill., Eugene, Minot, and Cyprian, Stillwater, Minn.; and one sister, Adeline Morin, Belcourt. Lester Renschler
LINTON -- Lester R. Renschler, 75, formerly of Linton, died Nov. 12, 1998, in a Chandler, Ariz. hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Peace Lutheran Church, Linton. Further arrangements are pending with Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Gordon Johnson
WILLISTON -- Gordon Johnson, 57, Williston, died Nov. 11, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at First Lutheran Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Elizabeth Hoffner
ESMOND -- Elizabeth Hoffner, 95, Esmond, died Nov. 12, 1998, in a Devils Lake care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Esmond. Further arrangements are pending with Nelson Funeral Home, Esmond.

Fern Carufel
Fern V. Carufel, 84, Bismarck, died Nov. 11, 1998, at her home. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending with Bismarck Funeral Home.

Ronald Beasley
Ronald Beasley, 60, Bismarck, died Nov. 11, 1998, in a Fargo hospital, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident north of Wahpeton. Arrangements are pending with Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn.

Carl Sundet
MADDOCK -- Carl J. Sundet, 88, Maddock, died Nov. 11, 1998, in the Harvey hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Viking Lutheran Church, rural Maddock. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, Maddock; one sister, Connie Nestegard, Minot; and two brothers, William, Lakeview, Ore., and Lloyd, Leavenworth, Kan. (Nelson Funeral Home, Maddock)

Frederick Kitko
Frederick A. Kitko, 86, St. Vincent's Care Center, Bismarck, died Nov. 12, 1998, at the nursing home. Arrangements are pending with Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Ottila Horst
ELGIN -- Ottila "Tillie" Horst, 95, Elgin, died Nov. 9, 1998, in the Elgin nursing home. Services will be held at 10-30 a.m. MST today at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elgin, with the Rev. Nancy Jaster officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Special music will be provided by Connie Friesz, organist, and Marcy Haase will sing "When He Was On the Cross" and "In the Garden" and the congregation will sing "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art."

Serving as casketbearers will be Kerri, Richard, Shannon, David and Wayne Horst, Russell and Kyle Woodbury and Christopher Goff. All grandchildren and great-grandchildren are considered honorary bearers.

Ottila Kranich was born Sept. 1, 1903, in southern Grant County, to Daniel and Christina (Werner) Kranich. She grew up and attended a rural school close to Elgin and was confirmed by the Rev. George Landgrebe. She was united in marriage to Solomon Horst by the Rev. Wildenhoefer, July 5, 1921. They made their home on a farm five miles north of Elgin until retiring in Elgin in 1963. After her husband's death on June 3, 1981, Tillie spent the winter months with her two daughters in the southern states. She continued to live in her home in Elgin until April 1995, when she became a resident of Dakota Hills. In May of this year she suffered a stroke and was transferred to the Jacobson Memorial Care Center, where she resided until her death.

Tillie enjoyed gardening and had a special pride in her flowers and yard. She kept a personal interest in all her grandchildren who admired her for her keen mind and high spirit for adventure.

Grateful for having shared her life are three sons and daughters-in-law, Wilbert and Hilda (Rauscher) Horst, Grandview, Wash., Milton and Carol (Heth) Horst, Elgin, and Lee and Eloise (Binek) Horst, Elgin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Leona and Elmer Rauscher, Elgin, and Darlene and Torkel Edquist, Fairhope, Ala.; one son-in-law, John Goff, Grand Bay, Ala.; and one daughter-in-law, Betty Mesling, New England; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Oscar Kranich, Lodi, Calif.; and one sister, Matha Fischer, Lodi.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Arnold and Alden; and one daughter, Alice.

The family prefers memorials to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Lester Renschler
Lester Raymond Renschler, 75, formerly of Linton, died Nov. 12, 1998, in a Chandler, Ariz. hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Linton, with burial in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, at 2:30 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Fred Henkelmann will officiate.

Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. Sunday at Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Lester R. Renschler was born June 25, 1923, at Linton, the son of Edward and Pauline (Maier) Renschler. He graduated from Linton Public High School. Les entered the U.S. Army on Aug. 15, 1943. On June 10, 1944, he married Ruth Frank in Muskogee, Okla. and was shipped out overseas to serve in the European Theater. After his discharge on Dec. 19, 1945, they returned to Linton. Les and Ruth owned Renschler's Restaurant in Linton from 1950-1977.

Les was a past president and served on the board of North Dakota Restaurant Association for several years. He was the first recipient of the North Dakota Restaurant Hall of Fame. Les was a Linton volunteer fireman for many years and held the position of chief for three years. He was also a life member of Strasburg VFW and served many years with Dan R. Richardson American Legion Post No. 54. Les and Ruth moved to Chandler in 1991, where they enjoyed golfing and lots of sunshine.

Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Ruth; four daughters and sons-in-law, Louann and Charles Walther, Mesa, Ariz., Louise and Howard Johnston, Albuquerque, N.M., Elaine and Rick Tews, Great Falls, Mont., and Jeanne and Jim Rickter, Lewistown, Mont.; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Susan, Fargo; three brothers, Jim, Seattle, Harry, Bismarck, and Arlo, Brainard, Minn.; and two sisters, Lucille Fettig, Bismarck, and Alene Bradsher, Longmont, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Elsie Sandau
EDGELEY -- Elsie C. Sandau, 89, Edgeley, died Nov. 13, 1998, in the Jamestown hospital. Arrangements are pending at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Kulm.

Fern Carufel
Fern V. Carufel, 84, Bismarck, died Nov. 11, 1998, in her home. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at Bismarck Funeral Home, where a vigil and rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will also be held at the church one hour before services.

Fern Veta Markow was born Sept. 4, 1914, in Pretty Rock, the daughter of Frank and Minnie (Schwandt) Markow. Fern moved to Bismarck in 1935. She married Vic Carufel on Sept. 25, 1937, in Bismarck. Fern was Vic's devoted fishing partner and enjoyed their many fishing trips and weekends at their cabin.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Vic Jr. and Alice, Bismarck, and Phil, Bismarck; five grandchildren, Dionne Benefiel, Travis Carufel, Dustin Carufel, Patrick Carufel and Lindsay Carufel; three great-grandchildren, Jason and Dylan Benefiel, and Tallysa Carufel; two sisters, Hazel Tibke, Elgin, and Nettie Robb, Bismarck; and one brother, Raymond Markow, Moses Lake, Wash.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents.

Frederick Kitko
Frederick A. Kitko, 86, died Nov. 12, 1998, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Vincent's Nursing Home, Bismarck, with the Rev. John O'Leary officiating.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the nursing home, where a rosary will be said at 11 a.m. Monday.

Frederick was born Dec. 22, 1911, in Bridgeport, Conn., the son of George and Katherine (Chacho) Kitko. He was raised and educated in Connecticut, graduating from Meriden High School and continued his education, attending one year of college at Bridgeport Engineering Institute. On June 13, 1936, he married Helen Wargo in Bridgeport. Helen died in 1981. Frederick was employed as a machinist, tool and dye maker for Avco-Lycoming in Stratford, Conn., retiring in 1972. He moved to North Dakota in 1982.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Carol, Bismarck; two grandchildren, Christin and Frederick Jon Kitko; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Sylvester, Joseph and Richard, all from Bridgeport; three sisters, Mary Woodall, South Carolina, Katherine Sobol and Madeline Pachinsky, both of Bridgeport.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and one brother, Jacob.

Ann Hoffman
Ann Hoffman, 84, 707 Fourth St. N.W., Mandan, died Nov. 13, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Ronald Beasley
WASHBURN -- Ronald Beasley, 60, Bismarck, formerly of Washburn, died Nov. 11, 1998, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at First Lutheran Church, Washburn. Further arrangements are pending with Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn.

Gordon Johnson
