Dorthea Pesonen
Dorothea Senzek Pesonen, 77, died June 30, 1997, in Bismarck. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Samih Ismir officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Saturday and 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Dorothea was born Dec. 19, 1919, near New York Mills, the daughter of Henry and Esther (Lampsa) Josephson. The family moved to Wing where Dorothea was raised and educated. After graduating from high school she taught in several country schools. She married Virgil H. Senzek in Bismarck and the two lived in various places while Virgil was in the military. During this time, Carol and Joan were born. Virgil died in September 1947. Dorothea then worked in Bismarck for the Bureau of Reclamation for a few years. Upon completing her education degree from Valley City State College, she taught elementary students in Bismarck for 37 years until retiring in 1982. In August 1967 she married Martin Pesonen and lived in Bismarck until her death. Dorothea entered Bismarck Baptist Home in December 1995.

She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in Bismarck and Alpha Delta Kappa, a teaching sorority.

She is survived by her husband, Martin; two daughters and one son-in-law, Carol Senzek Grande, Philadelphia, and Joan and Dave Solheim, Dickinson; two grandchildren, Benjamin Solheim, Flagstaff, Ariz., and Julia Solheim, Dickinson; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Gerda and Ralph Harju, Coon Rapids, Minn., Lucille Juhala, Eldora Ryberg and Sharon Miller, all of Bismarck; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Marilyn Josephson, San Diego, Owen and Betty Josephson, Eugene, Ore., and Dennis and Judy Josephson, Klamath Falls, Ore.; and one other brother-in-law and his spouse, Gordon and Laura Senzek, Kingman, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil; and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to First Lutheran Church, Bismarck, or the Baptist Home.

Theresa Senger
Theresa Senger, 87, Mandan, died July 2, 1997, in the Mandan nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Church of St. Joseph, Mandan, with burial in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Catholic Daughters rosary will be said at 4 p.m. today. A parish vigil will begin at 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Theresa was born July 18, 1909, in Strasburg, the daughter of Anton and Helen (Wolf) Reis. Theresa was raised and educated in Strasburg. On Oct. 30, 1933, she married John Senger in Strasburg. They moved to Glen Cross, S.D., and Michigan, N.D., where they farmed. In 1966 they moved to McLaughlin, S.D. In 1986, they moved to Mandan. John died in 1992.

Theresa was active in the churches where she lived doing volunteer work for church related activities.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Delila, Sioux City, Iowa, and Joe and Cindy, Aberdeen, S.D.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Art Singer, Mandan, and Betty and Scott Louks, Buffalo, S.D.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Jean and Rose Reis, both of Strasburg, and Irene Reis, Bismarck.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; two infant sons, John and James; three brothers, John, Andrew and Nick; and four sisters, Elizabeth, Tillie, Mary and Kathryn.

Harold Hoffelt
WILLISTON -- Harold Hoffelt, 80, Williston, died July 1, 1997, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; one daughter, Nancy, Williston; four sons, Dennis and Donn, both of Williston, Steve, Greeley, Colo., and Greg, Fargo; one sister, Eldora Herbranson, West Fargo; and two brothers, John, Oak Harbor, Wash., and Francis, Williston. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Anna Keller
HARVEY -- Anna M. Keller, 88, Harvey, died July 1, 1997, in the Harvey nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Selz, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by one son, Adam, Harvey; one daughter, Helen Axtman, Maddock; two brothers, Leo and Raymond Young, both of Camas, Wash.; and two sisters, Francis Candee, Camas, and Bertha Young, Vancouver, Wash. (Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey)

Delano Eagle Sr.
Delano S. Eagle Sr., 39, Fort Yates, died June 28, 1997, in an apparent drowning in the Grand River, near Mobridge, S.D. Services will be held at noon Saturday at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, Wakpala, S.D., with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his mother, Lillian Zahn, Solen; two daughters, Desiree Eagle and Prairie Rose Eagle, both of Fort Yates; seven sons, Jason, South Dakota, David, Cannonball, Brian, Bismarck, Delano Jr. and Derek, both of Custer, S.D., Joseph, Howes, S.D., and A.J., Fort Yates; six sisters, Debra Eagle, Selfridge, Connie Archambault, Fort Yates, Yutona Mendoza, Solen, LuJuanna George, Solen, Shelby Zahn, Fort Yates, and Emily Zahn, Solen; and two brothers, Celtus, Fort Yates, and Sheldon, Solen. Dee Moore
WILLISTON -- Dee Moore, 83, Williston, died July 2, 1997, in the Williston nursing home. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Home, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Sheila Hornberger
Sheila Faye Hornberger, 37, Commercial Point, Ohio, died June 19, 1997, in a Columbus, Ohio hospital. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. July 20 at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Burial was in Beckett Cemetery, Commercial Point.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce; two daughters, Kelsey and Sarah Hornberger; and three sisters, Linda Krueger, Minneapolis, and Karen Gangl and Susan Moser, both of Bismarck. (Schoedinger-Norris Funeral Home, Grove City, Ohio)

Elizabeth Brendel
Elizabeth Brendel, 84, Bismarck, died July 2, 1997, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at noon Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bismarck, with the Revs. Charles Heidt and John Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will be 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish rosary and vigil will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will continue from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Elizabeth was born Sept. 7, 1912, in Logan County. She was the daughter of Bernard and Agatha (Marquart) Weigel. She was raised and educated in Napoleon. On Nov. 10, 1936, she married Adam Brendel in Napoleon. They farmed in the Napoleon area for 17 years before moving to Bismarck where they raised five children. She was employed as a waitress at the Country Club, and worked as a custodian for Boniface Hall. While there she touched the lives of many through her various jobs and works.

She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Agatha and Earl McCarty, Medina, Betty and Richard Berger, Tacoma, Wash., Lucy and Joel Barker, Helena, Mont., and Carol and Kenneth Powe, Richland, Wash.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ben, Enumclaw, Wash., and Joe, Auburn, Wash.; and two sisters, Helen Glatt and Agatha Mitzel, both of Bismarck.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Adam, who died in 1984; one daughter, Jeanette Fleck; two brothers, Baltzer and John; and one sister, Barbara.

Norman Heinrich
RHAME -- Norman M. Heinrich, 81, Rhame, died July 2, 1997, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday at First Lutheran Church, Rhame, with burial in Mound Cemetery, Rhame.

He is survived by his wife, Ada; one daughter, Bonnie Volk, Gillette, Wyo.; three sons, Lawrence, Mesa, Ariz., Michael, Grand Junction, Colo., and Roger, Farragutt, Tenn.; and one brother, Gaylord, Rhame. (Krebsbach Funeral Service, Bowman)

Tristan Sauter
TURTLE LAKE -- Tristan Dylan Sauter, infant son of Helen Sauter, Goodrich, and Barry Schlafmann, Turtle Lake, died July 4, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

DEVILS LAKE -- Ann Elverude, 89, Devils Lake, died July 4, 1997, in the Devils Lake hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Churches Ferry. Further arrangements are pending at Nelson Funeral Home, Leeds.

KNOX -- David M. Hoffart, 30, Knox, died July 3, 1997, in the Devils Lake hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knox. Further arrangements are pending at Nelson Funeral Home, Leeds.

Edwina Pross
FESSENDEN -- Edwina Pross, 85, Fessenden, died July 2, 1997, in her home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Church of the Nazarene, Fessenden, with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Fessenden.

She is survived by one sister, Mildred Tellinghuisen, Moses Lake, Wash. (Nelson Funeral Home, Fessenden)

Edmund Bossert
DRAKE -- Edmund J. Bossert, 63, Drake, died July 2, 1997, in his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Margaret-Mary Catholic Church, Drake, with burial in the church cemetery.

Garrett Walsh
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Garrett F. ``Bud" Walsh, 85, Sioux Falls, died July 5, 1997, in Sioux Falls. Mr. Walsh was a retired National Cash Register branch manager and partner in the first Burger King franchise in South Dakota. He was active in Burger Kin operations and assisted in developing more than 40 restaurants throughout the Midwest.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Kathy, Sioux Falls, and John and Eileen, Deadwood; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Pam and Tom Fritz, Rapid City, S.D., Debbie and Steve Purtell, Scottsdale, Ariz., Cindy Walsh, Sioux Falls, Beth and Cliff Payson, Scottsdale, and Meg Walsh, Sioux Falls; his step-children, Bill and Sandra Graham, Louisville, Ky., Mike and Kim Broderick, Elk Point, S.D., Sandy and Mike Canon, Sioux City, Iowa, Bill Broderick and Jim Broderick, both of Laramie, Wyo., and Tom and Gail Broderick, Arvada, Colo.; and 19 grandchildren.

Scripture services will be held at 7 tonight at Miller Funeral Home, Sioux Falls.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sioux Falls.

David Hoffart
KNOX -- David M. Hoffart, 30, Knox, died July 3, 1997, in the Devils Lake hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knox, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his father, Edwin; five brothers, Darrell, Gary, Steven and Kelly, all of Knox, and Allan, Rugby; and five sisters, Suzanne Hoffart, Bismarck, Tammy Price, Rock Lake, Renae Larson, Cando, Michelle Tollerud, Esmond, and Chantel Hoffart, Knox. (Nelson Funeral Home, Leeds)

Ann Elverude

Alvin Frueh
GOODRICH -- Alvin Frueh, 79, Goodrich, died July 3, 1997, at his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church, Goodrich, with burial in Goodrich Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Alvin was born March 3, 1918, on the family farm south of Martin, the son of Otto and Emma (Hirschkorn) Frueh. He was raised there and attended rural school. He married Esther Schuh, Oct. 11, 1938, at Martin. They farmed near Martin for a time before moving to a farm near Anamoose. In 1950 they moved to a farm near Goodrich. They later moved into Goodrich.

He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, served on Goodrich School Board, Soil Conservation Board, Goodrich Farmers Elevator Board, and was a member of Harvey Eagles.

He loved being with his grandchildren, going to the lake and visiting with his friends.

He is survived by his wife, Esther; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Pam, and Randy and Susan, all of Goodrich; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lois and Ken Helmer, Mandan, Nancy and Fred Felchle, Minot, and Becky and Dennis Thomas, Devils Lake; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mel, Garrison, and Don, Anamoose; one sister, Arlene Feil, Colorado Springs, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clifford; two sisters in infancy; one grandson, Kevin; and one granddaughter, Karla.

Tristan Sauter
GOODRICH -- Tristan Dylan Sauter, infant son of Helen Sauter, Goodrich, died July 4, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Goodrich, with burial in Goodrich Cemetery.

He is survived by his mother, Helen Sauter, Goodrich; his grandmother, Betsy Sauter, Goodrich. (Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey)

Orville Zimbelman
MCCLUSKY -- Orville A. Zimbelman, 81, Sauk Centre, Minn., formerly of McClusky, died July 5, 1997, in a Sauk Centre hospital. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at McClusky Baptist Church. Further arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.
