Carlyle Albrecht
FLASHER -- Carlyle R. Albrecht, 95, Flasher, died March 21, 1998, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan. Burial will be in Fairhill Cemetery, Flasher.

Visitation will be for one hour before services at the funeral home.

Carlyle was born on June 9, 1902, in Mandan, the son of Orin and Pearle (Russell) Albrecht. He graduated from St. John's Military High School in Deerfield, Wis., and attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minn.

He married Eva Rassier on July 9, 1928, in St. Cloud, Minn. A well-respected businessman and ardent advocate of the Flasher community, he was the founding father of Mor-Gran-Sou Electric Cooperative and served for 12 years as its first president. People throughout the area knew him and held him in high regard.

Carlyle was a humble and conservative man who loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was a life member of National Rifle Association and a contributor to the Republican Party. He was also a member of Mandan Elks Club.

He is survived by two cousins, John R. Fitzsimmons, Minneapolis and Beulah Davison, Vancouver, British Columbia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, who died on Feb. 12, 1988. (Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan)

Winifred Bolinske
WILLISTON -- Winifred Bolinske, 77, Williston, died March 20, 1998, in a Williston nursing home. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Union Church, Williston. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. Further arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Tollef Holden
WILLISTON -- Tollef Holden, 81, Williston, died March 21, 1998, in a Williston hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, Williston. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

He is survived by three daughters, Mae Adelle Swartz, Snohomish, Wash., Lori Rodriquez, Heidelburg, Germany, and JoLayne Waller, Dickinson; one son, Loren, Foster City, Calif.; and two sisters, Sophie Jellum, Eugene, Ore., and Rose Boe, Tioga. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Frank Jung
Frank Jung, 82, Glendive, Mont., died March 21, 1998, in a Glendive hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Glendive. Burial will be in Dawson County Cemetery, Glendive.

He is survived by six daughters, Harriet Carpenter, Sylvia Ewalt, Claudia Becker, Sharon Becker and Pamilla Jung, all of Glendive, and Lottie Miller, Moorhead, Minn.; three brothers, William, New England, Peter, Dickinson, and Robert, Junction City, Kan.; and three sisters, Helen Welch, Regent, Katharine Costello, Dickinson, and Elizabeth Reichert, Benkleman, Neb. Gladys Ness
WASHBURN -- Gladys J. Ness, 88, Washburn, died March 22, 1998, in an Underwood nursing home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, Washburn, with the Rev. Bradley Brauer officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Gladys Josephine Thompson was born Sept. 14, 1909, on her father's homestead six miles south of Mercer. She was the daughter of Christ and Olga (Olson) Thompson. She attended school at Mercer and graduated from Mercer High School in 1927.

She attended teacher's college at Minot and Valley City and received her standard teaching certificate. She then taught school at Mercer and several country schools in the Mercer and Washburn area.

She married Austin A. Ness on June 2, 1938 at McClusky. The couple made their home and farmed ten miles west of Washburn. Austin died on Dec. 24, 1981. She had been a resident of the Prairieview Nursing Home at Underwood since February of 1997.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Kelly Wagner, Turtle Lake; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Clark and Claudette Ness, rural Washburn, and Gene Ness, Washburn; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Herbert Thompson, Mercer.

The family prefers memorials to First Lutheran Church Sunday School. (Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn)

Edith Kaelberer
GLEN ULLIN -- Edith Ann Kaelberer, 56, Glen Ullin, died March 21, 1998, in a Glen Ullin nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Wednesday at Bethel Assembly of God Church, Glen Ullin, with the Rev. Chris Walstad officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, south of New Salem.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Edith Ann was born on March 16, 1942, at New Salem, the daughter of George and Katherine (Malone) Kaelberer. She lived in Almont until 1948, when she moved with her family to New Salem. Edith was privately tutored in her home by teachers and her mother who had been a teacher for many years.

Edith was born with cerebal palsy, so she was confined to a wheelchair all her life. In 1948, she was the North Dakota Easter Seal poster child. Edith did a lot of traveling as her handicap was only physical. She was always an interesting, considerate and caring person. For 41 years, she attended Camp Grassick, which was always the highlight of her summer. For seven years, she also attended camp at the Assumption Abbey in Richardton, which was a rewarding experience for her. In 1969, at the age of 27, she entered Marian Manor in Glen Ullin.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, Van Westbrook; two nephews, Jay and Ross Westbrook, all of Dallas, Ga.; and a niece, Sarah Katherine; three loving aunts, many cousins and dear friends, including Pastor Chris Walstad, his wife, Robin, and their son, Nathan; and her many friends at Marian Manor in Glen Ullin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and a brother. (Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan)

Julia Schirado
GLEN ULLIN -- Julia Schirado, 96, Glen Ullin, died March 22, 1998, in a Glen Ullin nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, with the Rev. Claude Seeberger officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Glen Ullin.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. MST today at the church, where a prayer service and rosary will be said at 7 MST tonight at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin.

Julia was born on April 10, 1901, in rural Glen Ullin, the daughter of John II and Theresa (Regel) Filibeck. The family moved into town when she was young. She was educated in Glen Ullin. She married Matt Schirado on Jan. 28, 1919, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin. Following their marriage, they farmed until 1935, when they moved into Glen Ullin. In 1942, they moved to Washington to work. In 1956, they returned to Glen Ullin, where Julia was the site manager and cook for the meals on wheels program. She also catered weddings and other celebrations. Matt died on Sept. 25, 1967. In May of 1992, she entered the Marian manor Nursing Home in Glen Ullin, where she has since resided.

She enjoyed gardening and flowers, and was a member of the kitchen band and enjoyed playing cards. She was a member of Glen Ullin Senior Citizens, 11 years as the secretary.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Matthew; and four brothers and four sisters. (Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin)

William McCombs
William "Bill" A. McCombs, 51, formerly of Bismarck, died of sudden heart failure in Seattle on Feb. 9, 1998.

Bill was born in Racine, Wis., on Feb. 26, 1946. He graduated from high school and attended college in Wisconsin, then served as a photo-journalist in the United States Marines from 1966-1969.

Bill moved to Bismarck in 1970 and lived in Bismarck until 1984. He worked as a reporter for the Bismarck Tribune and for KFYR radio and television and as a public information specialist for the Memorial Mental Health and Retardation Center and the Business and Industrial Development Department. He also completed a degree at Mary College.

After leaving Bismarck, Bill lived in Minneapolis and Seattle, where he was a writer for several companies and did free-lance work.

He is survived by family in Racine, including his mother, Marge; two sisters and a brother; and a brother in India.

Winifred Bolinske
WILLISTON -- Winifred Bolinske, 77, Williston, died in a Williston nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Union Church, Williston. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Williston.

She is survived by three sons, Dale, Kuna, Idaho, Larry, Dickinson, and Brian, Williston; four daughters, Karen Martin, Clinton, Tenn., Coral Bernier, Woodinville, Wash., Judy Reichert, Vale, S.D., and Jean Lillich, Lakewood, Colo.; and one sister, Elizabeth Casey, Lewistown, Mont. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Rolland Gift
DICKINSON -- Rolland R. Gift, 83, Dickinson, died March 21, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MST Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dickinson. Burial will be in Lebanon Lutheran Cemetery, Amidon.

He is survived by two sons, Jim Gift, and Larry Gift, Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Janice Naylor, Park City, Mont., and Sharon Gullach, Omaha, Neb.; and two sisters, Hazel Osness, Billings, Mont.; and Gladys Molstad, Baker, Mont. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

M.T. McGuire
FARGO -- M.T. "Mac" McGuire, 87, Fargo, formerly of Washburn, died March 21, 1998. Services will be held at 2 p.m Wednesday atOlivet Lutheran Church, Fargo.

He is survived by hs wife, Edie; one son, Michael, Fargo; and one daughter, Patricia Anderson, Lawrence, Kan. (Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo)

Mary Kuntz
SOUTH HEART -- Mary Kuntz, 97, South Heart, died March 23, 1998, in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be held 10 a.m. MST Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, South Heart. Further arrangements are pending with Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Howard Coughlin
Howard R. Coughlin, 73, 407 Piccadilly Circle, Bismarck, died March 23, 1998, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at First United Methodist Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending with Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

Arthur Brunelle
Arthur L. Brunelle, 82, Bozeman, Mont., died March 21, 1998. There will be no public services held. Cremation has taken place at Dahl Crematory, Bozeman.

Anne Cox
Anne Atkinson Cox, 100, Menlo Park, Calif., died Nov. 16, 1998, in Menlo Park. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 13 at All Saints Episcopal Church, Carmel, Calif. Burial will be at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Anne was born April 20, 1898, in Alston, Mass., the daughter of Timothy Ralph and Emma (Hilton) Atkinson, both of Maine. T.R. was Bismarck City Engineer for many years, and designed and directed the building of, among other projects, the Water Works still in use today.

Anne attended school at Dana Hall, Wellesley, Mass., and Bismarck High School. She received a degree in teaching from Miss Woods School in Minneapolis.

She was married to Gordon VanVourhis Cox, who was an attorney-at-law. He was a member of the N.D. State Legislature, and was very active in the Republican Party. He was senior warden for many years at St. George's Episcopal Church in Bismarck as well as active in many community projects.

Anne and Gordon spent the winters in Bismarck from 1905 to 1960; in Palm Desert, Calif. from 1960 to 1986; in Carmel, Calif. from 1986 to 1995; and in Menlo Park, Calif. from 1995 to the present. They spent their summers at Lake Melissa, Detroit Lakes, Minn. from 1925 to the present.

She was active in many capacities in community volunteer work. Anne was active in Episcopal churches in all the above cities, from St. George's in Bismarck to most recently at All Saints in Carmel. She was a member of PEO organizations for 76 years, currently a member of Chapter PG in Carmel.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Anne Cox Thompson, Claremont, Calif., and Virginia Cox Atkinson, Fairway, Kan.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987.

Elizabeth Azure
FORT YATES -- Elizabeth Azure, 85, Fort Yates, died Nov. 22, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fort Yates, with the Rev. Casimir Paluck officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, south of Mandan.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the church, where a wake service will be held at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary.

Elizabeth Silk was born Oct. 23, 1913, to Jack and Briget (Halsey) Silk, one of 10 children. She grew up on the Standing Rock Reservation, attending school in the Fort Yates area and at the Bismarck Indian School. Elizabeth was married to George Azure, who preceded her in death in 1995.

She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Lou Azure, Fort Yates, and Helen and Joe Perez, El Cajon, Calif.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Lisa Azure, Bismarck, and Don and Helen White, Mandan; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her spouse; her parents; two sons, Daryl and William; and one stepson, Henry Azure. (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)
