Glenn Love
Glenn I. Love, 82, Bismarck, formerly of rural Turtle Lake, died Feb. 28, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Charity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Robert Nordvall officiating. Burial will be in St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery, rural Turtle Lake.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Goetz Funeral Home, Turtle Lake, 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck, and at the church one hour before services.

Glenn Ivan Love was born March 25, 1915, at Plaza, to I.E. and Sarah (Forland) Love. He grew up on his parents farm north of Turtle Lake in Greatstone Township, where he attended rural school. As a young man he worked at several jobs and also served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. He married Gertrude C. Lockrem, July 11, 1937, at Minneapolis. They farmed and ranched north of Mercer, and later moved to his family farm north of Turtle Lake. They retired in 1983 and moved to Bismarck. They spent many winters in Apache Junction, Ariz.

He was a past member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Turtle Lake, and currently a member of Charity Lutheran Church in Bismarck. Each week he looked forward to his cardiac exercise at Medcenter One Rehab Unit and also enjoyed the weekly Senior Mens Breakfasts.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Sherry, Newbury Park, Calif., Quentin, Kenmare, and Julie Love, Bismarck; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Orian and John Cuccia, Pine Mountain Club, Calif., Audrey and Jim Sparks, Paso Robles, Calif., Kathleen and Dr. Jon Seeger, Turtle Lake, and Della Sennie, Lincoln; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Marion Payette and Mildred Cox, both of Hemet, Calif., June Mayo, Riverside, Calif., and Dolores Devlin, Sun Lake, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; one sister; one son, Eugene; and three grandchildren.

Elmer 'Bill' Woodcox
Elmer R. "Bill" Woodcox, 81, 1521 Harmon Ave., died March 27, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church, Bismarck, with the Revs. Stephen Wisthoff and Stanley Malmgren officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held at the church one hour before services.

Elmer was born in Rochester, Ind., Nov. 28, 1916. He was the son of Ray and Orpha Woodcox. His mother died during his birth. He was raised and educated on a farm 5 miles west of Rochester in the Burton area by his grandparents, Ulrich and Mary Woodcox.

He attended Rochester High School, a member of the class of 1935. He married Cathryn Knicklebine Nov. 2, 1940. They were married 58 years.

He was employed from 1936-1960 by Armour Creameries. They were transferred to Bismarck in 1949, where he became plant manager.

In 1960 he founded Arrowhead Cleaners. Bill and Cathryn operated Arrowhead Cleaners until he sold the business to his son, Jerry, in 1979.

He was always proud of the fact that Jerry took his son, Clark, into the business making three generations in the business. When he started the cleaners he had his wife as bookkeeper and three employees. When he sold the business he had 33 employees who he was very proud of and gave them credit for his success.

After his retirement, Bill and Kate spent many great summers at their cottage, at West Leaf Lake, Ottertail, Minn. He always said he was the number one fishing guide on that lake.

Bill served on the Bismarck Hospital Board of Directors for 11 years. He was a life member of Elks, Bismarck Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge No. 5 and El Zagal Shrine.

He was a member of First Baptist Church since 1949. He served on many church boards and was chairman of the board of trustees when the present church was built.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Lynn, Dallas, and Jerry and Donna, Bismarck; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathryn, who died March 4, 1998; his parents; two brothers; and one sister.

Carl Buechler
STRASBURG -- Carl P. Buechler Sr., 68, Strasburg, died March 28, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, with the Rev. Leonard Eckroth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, and will continue at the church one hour before services. A rosary will be said at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Carl was born Feb. 9, 1930, in Hague, the son of Peter and Elizabeth (Holzer) Buechler. He attended St. Aloysius School.

He lived in Rapid City and worked at a concrete plant prior to his marriage to Irene Masset on Oct. 10, 1956, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, rural Strasburg.

He worked as a maintainer blade man at various towns in North Dakota, and in 1958 they moved to Strasburg, where he worked for Emmons County Road Department and as a city policeman. They operated the Teen Center for five years.

He was a member of Strasburg Lions Club. He loved camping and fishing with his family. He was loved and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Carl Jr. and Gayla, Jim and Mary, all of Bismarck, and Gary, Lincoln; six grandchildren, Ryley, Trisha, Carlie, Jessica, Brandon and Jordan; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Ferdinand and Cecelia, Linton, Martin and Agnes, Bismarck, John and Alice, Minot, and Aloys and Janice, Monroe, Iowa; and four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marianna and Aloysius Zacher, and Elizabeth Scherr, all of Strasburg, Clara and Steve Zahn, Bismarck, and Anne and Thomas Santos, Cocoa Beach, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Roger Dick
JAMESTOWN -- Roger Wayne Dick, 44, Jamestown, died March 27, 1998, near Fingal. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Jamestown.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; three daughters, Lacy, Alyssa and Samantha, all of Jamestown; his mother, Proxie Dick, Courtenay; three brothers, Ronald, Fargo, Ralph, Wimbledon, and Rodney, Courtenay; and one sister, Jeanne Jenkins, Boise, Idaho. (Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown)

Sally Dewald
STREETER -- Sally Dewald, 64, Covina, Calif., died March 28, 1998, at her home. Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by three daughters, Judy Horst, Bismarck, Sandra Dewald, Streeter, and Jolene Lavergne, Covina; one son, Craig, Streeter; one brother, Roy Devereaux, White Hall, Calif.; and one sister, Helen Cox, Jamestown. (Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown)

George Sickler
DICKINSON -- George Sickler, 66, Dickinson, died March 29, 1998, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. MST Wednesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Ida Buhr
LEMMON, S.D. -- Ida C. Buhr, 97, Lemmon, died March 28, 1998, at the Lemmon nursing home. Services will be 1 p.m. MST Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church, Morristown, with burial in Morristown Cemetery. (Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Lemmon)

Judith Opgrand
Judith Opgrand, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, died March 28, 1998, in the nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Vernie Peterson
Vernie Peterson, 91, 615 N. 12th St., Bismarck, died March 29, 1998, in a local hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service Chapel, Bismarck, with the Rev. Hensel Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Vernie A. Peterson was born Sept. 20, 1906, in Bismarck, to Anton and Mary (Christenson) Christ. In 1907, Vernie's mother died and he was welcomed into the loving home of Andrew and Mary (Riggs) Peterson with whom he was raised.

Vernie married Elizabeth Glitschka on June 15, 1931, in Selby, S.D. They farmed for 30 years in Naughton Township near Baldwin. They moved to Bismarck in 1969. He worked for Kirschmann Manufacturing Co. for five years and then with ticket sales at the Greyhound Bus Depot until the late 1970s.

Vernie is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; four grandchildren, Melissa, Lewis, Vernie A. Peterson II, all of Bismarck, and Jericho, Harlem, Mont.; and special pets, Panda, Boots, Babe and Cakes.

Vernie was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Don Peterson in 1993; one brother, David Holland; two sisters, Clara Holmes and Magdalene McCunchan; and two foster sisters, Ida Stanley and Elsie Kant. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)

Frances England
Frances (Gieser) England, 56, Anaheim, Calif., died March 22, 1998, due to complications from lung cancer.

Frances "Fran" was born May 20, 1941, near Fort Yates to R.F. and Monica (Boespflug) Gieser. Fran graduated from Fort Yates High School and went to work at the ASC office in Selfridge. She moved to California in the early 1960s, where she received degrees in education and special education. She taught at various colleges, one of which was Fullerton Community College for 16 years and was administrator of the Skills Center Language Department, until she retired in 1997.

She is survived by five sisters, Margaret Berger, Wallace, Mich., Pauline Wold and Emma Kraft, both of Minot, Katherine Alkire, Las Vegas, Nev., and Beatrice Kadrmas, Dickinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Phillip, M.J., Joe, Ralph and John; and one sister, Tillie.

George Sickler
DICKINSON -- George Sickler, 66, Dickinson, died March 29, 1998, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Wednesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Dickinson.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; one son, Allen, Gladstone; three daughters, Charmaine Wehmhoefer and Carol Zent, both of Bismarck, and Tammy Meyer, Dickinson; his mother, Theresa Sickler, Dickinson; and one brother, Frank J., Dickinson. (Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson)

Ervin Pepple
FESSENDEN -- Ervin H. Pepple, 69, Fessenden, died March 29, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, Fessenden. Burial will be in Fessenden Baptist Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Faye; one daughter, Michelle Weigelt, Fessenden; one son, Jon, Fargo; one sister, Marge Krueger, Fessenden; and one brother, Harry, Fessenden. (Nelson Funeral Home, Fessenden)

Vincent Piesik
Vincent Cyrl Piesik, 73, Glendive, Mont., died March 29, 1998, at his home. Services will be held at 7 p.m. MST Thursday at Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home, Wibaux, Mont. Burial will be in Wibaux Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; and one son, Gerald, Aurora, Colo. (Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home, Wibaux)

Carl Hasse
Carl Hasse, 87, Bismarck, and formerly of Tappen, died March 29, 1998, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Tappen High School. Burial will be in Fisher Cemetery, Tappen.

He is survived by two sons, Howard and Wayne, both of Tappen. (Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown)

NEW ROCKFORD -- Ferd Sundberg, 94, New Rockford, died March 29, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, New Rockford. Further arrangements are pending with Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.
