Lorena Olien
MOTT -- Lorena V. Olien, 87, Mott, died Nov. 9, 1997. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott. Burial will be in Sunnyslope Cemetery, Mott.

She is survived by one brother-in-law, Alfred Olien, Mott.

Delwyn Helfrich
Delwyn Helfrich, 47, 2500 Centennial Road, Bismarck, died Nov. 10, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending with Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Nicholas Wax
DICKINSON -- Nicholas M. Wax, 83, Dickinson, died Nov. 9, 1997, in a Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Thursday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending with Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Larry Dick
WILLISTON -- Larry Dick, 71, Williston, died Nov. 10, 1997, in the Williston hospital. Services will be 10-30 a.m. Thursday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Williston, with burial in Hillside Memory Gardens, Williston.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; and one daughter, Vicki Martinson of Williston. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Carrie Fike
CAVALIER -- Carrie Fike, 96, Cavalier, died Nov. 9, 1997, in the Cavalier nursing home. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Starkweather, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by three sons, Duane of Hastings, Minn., the Rev. Gerald of Cavalier and David of Lawrenceville, Ga. (Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake)

Kristen Frantsen
Kristen Tatianna Frantsen, 4, our special angel, went to live with Jesus on Nov. 10, 1997. She was with her many friends and family in her home in Hazen, while battling a brain stem tumor. Services will be 10 a.m. MST Friday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen, with the Rev. David Suelzle officiating. Burial will be in Hazen City Cemetery.

Serving as honorary casketbearers are Breaunna Oakland, Jenna Maas, Molly Johnson, Rachael Hansana, Samantha Hafner and Rachael Harvey. Serving as active casketbearers are Donn Oakland, Tim Leidholm, Steve Borlaug, Mark Olson, Troy Borud and Kelly Maas.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen.

Kristen, daughter of Ivar and Melissa (Meissel) Frantsen, was born in Hazen on Jan. 9, 1993. She lived with her parents and sisters, Heather and Jennifer.

Kristen attended Hazen Preschool and Sunday school and loved her teachers, classmates and school. Kristen enjoyed playing with her friends, riding bike, playing with her Barbies and Polly Pockets and swimming.

Krissy loved to go "hunting" with her daddy. She was always there to help her mommy whenever she needed it. She loved to hang out and do things with her two big sisters.

Kristen will be greatly missed by everyone she touched. With her blonde hair and irresistible blue eyes, she always had a big smile and hug for whoever wanted one.

Kristen is survived by her parents, Ivar and Melissa; her sisters, Heather and Jennifer; her grandparents, Harley and Avis Frantsen, and Marvin and Ardella Meissel, all of Hazen; her great-grandparents, Amanda Bauer of Beulah, and Martha Davidson of Hettinger; and her aunts, uncles and cousins.

She will also be missed by her "big brothers," Ryan and Jared Borlaug, and all her preschool friends.

Kristen was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Frants and Nina Frantsen, Emil Davidson, Walter Bauer and Olga and Elmer Meissel.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or Sakakawea Medical Center Hospice, Hazen.

Albert Heimbuck
Albert Heimbuck, 89, 310 E. Avenue C, Bismarck, died Nov. 9, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas Marcis Jr. officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Arena Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and for one hour prior to services at the church.

Albert Heimbuck was born Sept. 27, 1908, in Polluck, S.D., the son of Jacob and Rose (Neumiller) Heimbuck. Albert was raised and educated in the McClusky area.

He married Helen Wolff on Oct. 27, 1934, and they farmed in the Regan and Wing area. Helen died March 20, 1965. Albert married Lena Wentz on Dec. 2, 1967. They moved to Bismarck in 1968 and resided here until his death.

He is survived by his wife, Lena; three daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Gerald Leno of Florissant, Colo., Mildred and Marvin Hanel of Erie, Colo., and Brenda and Kenneth Trautman of Silver Lake, Kan.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wilmer and LaVonne of Breckenridge, Minn., and Darrel and Sandra of Bismarck; four stepdaughters and one stepson-in-law, Mavis Houghton of Steele, Jeannette Holzer of Bismarck, Gloria and Clarence Kapp of Jamestown and Bernice Morgan, Las Vegas; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Earl and Irene Wentz and Curt and Diane Wentz, all of Bismarck; two brothers, Fred and William, both of Oregon; five sisters, Martha Mowder of Bismarck, Edna Franklin of Waterloo, Iowa, and Elsie Smith, Esther Seales and Emma Feye, all of Oregon; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Helen; one brother, Ed; and one sister, Rose Jones. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)

Herbert Heitzman
MCCLUSKY -- Herbert Heitzmann, 97, McClusky, died Nov. 11, 1997, in the Harvey hospital. Arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Delwyn Helfrich
Delwyn Helfrich, 47, 2500 Centennial Road, died Nov. 10, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steven Sathre officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Delwyn was born June 10, 1950, in Mandan. He was the son of John and Jo (Potter) Helfrich. Delwyn was raised and educated in Breien and Bismarck, and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1968.

In 1973 he graduated from Elkins Institute of Photography in Minneapolis. Delwyn married Chris Scheidt Aug. 26, 1997, in Lead, S.D. He worked for the State Highway Department, AAction Movers and was self-employed as a painter.

Delwyn is survived by his wife, Chris; his mother, Jo Helfrich of Mandan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Wynona and Richard Haakenson of Bismarck and Karolyn and Keith Morris of Mandan; four nieces and nephews, Karen Haakenson, Laurie Albright and Mick and Nicole Turner; two grand-nieces, Courtney and Megan Albright; and one grand-nephew, Tyler Taix.

He was preceded in death by his father, John; and his grandparents, Ernie and Esther Potter and John and Magdalene Helfrich.

Hannah Leapoldt
Hannah Marguerite Leapoldt, 86, Jamestown, died Nov. 9, 1997, in Jamestown. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with burial in Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.

She is survived by her husband, Henry; four sons, LeRoy of Westminster, Colo., Leonard of Frederick, Colo., John of Thornton, Colo., and James of Boulder, Colo.; two daughters, Beatrice Robertson of Burlington, Iowa, and Patricia Buchholz of Stanwood, Wash.; three brothers, Edward Ulrich and Arthur Ulrich, both of Dickinson, and Norman Ulrich of Fingal; and three sisters, Beatrice Patzer of Marshall, Minn., Gertrude Guenther of Jamestown and Eunice Peda of Jamestown. John Sorch
WILTON -- John Sorch, 90, Wilton, died Nov. 10, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Wilton, with the Rev. Mary-Lee Lint officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

John was born Aug. 9, 1907, the son of Joseph Sr. and Johanna (Kenda) Sorch, at the family farm near Baldwin. He was raised and educated at Ecklund School No. 2.

He helped on the family farm and worked as a coal miner in the No. 2 Wilton Mine. He married Emma Klein, March 4, 1933.

He then worked at Feigenskaul Mine near Underwood, and they bought a Chapin House (considered a Washburn Coal Company mine home at Wilton) that they moved to their farmstead in 1934.

He farmed all his life, still helping out as best he could. He was still putting up hay this past summer.

He is survived by his wife, Emma; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Donald and Dolores, Lawrence and Gail, and Bob, all of Wilton; eight grandchildren, Don Jr. and Doreen, Cydra and Brian Dolezal, Kelly and Tammy, Jeff and Shanna, Rick, Tyler, Max and Carter; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Minnie Hunter of Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph Jr. and Charlie; and three sisters, Mary, Rosey and Emma.

Nicholas Wax
DICKINSON -- Nicholas M. Wax, 83, Dickinson, died Nov. 9, 1997, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. MST Thursday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in St. Vincent's Cemetery, Mott.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; four brothers, Marcus of New England, Pete of Dickinson, Adolph of Lake Havisu, Ariz., and Mike of Minneapolis; and six sisters, Helen Schroeder of Sacramento, Calif., Barbara Riebel of Minneapolis, Kathryn Baar of Dickinson, Mary Weirick of St. Paul, Minn., Florence Bucktil of Minneapolis and Eleanor Keck of Dickinson. Pearl Chittick
Pearl Anna Wagner Chittick, 91, Sand Point, Idaho, formerly of Lark, died Nov. 4, 1997, in Sand Point. The date of the service is pending. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Kooskia, Idaho.

She is survived by two brothers, Herbert of Mandan and John of Mott; and one sister, Ruby Bruington of Mandan.

Hilmer Erdmann
GARRISON -- Hilmer Erdmann, 75, Garrison, died Nov. 11, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garrison. Further arrangements are pending with Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.

Isabel Fischer
Isabel Fischer, 76, Aberdeen, S.D., died Nov. 10, 1997, at her home. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Aberdeen. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary, Aberdeen. A rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. tonight, followed by a parish vigil.

Isabel Kraft was born Feb. 15, 1921, to Pius and Agatha (Baumgartner) Kraft in Strasburg, where she was raised and attended rural schools.

She graduated from Strasburg High School. She attended the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn., for two years and received her teaching certificate.

She returned to the Strasburg area and taught school for one year. Isabel married Matt C. Fischer in Bismarck in 1941, and then they moved to Aberdeen.

She later started working for Sears in Aberdeen. She was the department manager for many years and retired after 35 years of employment with the store. Matt died in 1993, and she continued to make Aberdeen her home.

Isabel volunteered much of her time with various church and community activities. She was an avid reader, loved the time she spent with her friends, was a faithful correspondent and she was a woman committed to God, family, friends and helping others. She was especially devoted to her two grandsons, Steven and David..Great Lover of Angels.

She was a member of National Catholic Society of Foresters and St. Mary's Altar Society.

She is survived by one daughter, Elaine Frey of Aberdeen; four brothers, Alex Kraft of Mandan, Pat Kraft of Bismarck, Bill Kraft of St. Cloud, Minn., and George Kraft of Nassau, Bahamas; two sisters, Geraldine Mara of Cape Cod, Mass., Sister Katherine Kraft of St. Joseph, Minn.; and two grandsons, Steven Frey and David Frey; American Mother to Charles Emezie of Aberdeen; and one grandpet, Annie Freedom.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers; and one sister. (Schriver's Memorial Mortuary, Aberdeen)

Herbert Heitzmann
HARVEY -- Herbert Heitzmann, 97, Harvey, formerly of McClusky, died Nov. 11, in a Harvey hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at McClusky Seventh Day Adventist Church. Burial will be in McClusky City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Friday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, and from 2-8 p.m. Saturday at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; one son and daughter-in-law, Reuben and Doris of Bismarck; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Walter Miller of Streeter and Elaine and Archie Kreiter of Harvey; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-granchildren; and one brother, Ben of Twinsburg, Ohio. Gertrude Kloster
Gertrude Kloster, 96, Elk River, Minn., died Nov. 10, 1997, in an Elk River nursing home. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morris Nilsen Chapel, Richfield, Minn. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.

She is survived by three sons, Orvis of Grand Forks, James of Fargo and formerly of Bismarck and Donald of Northfield, Minn.; two daughters, JoAnn Stillwell of Elk River and Darlene Rossum of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and three sisters, Hilda Vettern of Fargo, Thea Erickson of Climax, Minn., and Theodora Dela of Clearbrook, Minn. Vance Kro
JAMESTOWN -- Vance L. Kro, 59, Jamestown, formerly of Fessenden, died Nov. 11, 1997, in a Jamestown nursing home. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; two daughters, Lisa Kro of Minnetonka, Minn., and Dawn Wold of Fargo; four sisters, Jordia Bergo of Urbandale, Iowa, Sanda Sundem of Fridley, Minn., Nancey Schulz of Moorhead, Minn., and Donna Sabby of Coon Rapids, Minn.; and one brother, Marlowe Kro of Bismarck.
