MINNEWAUKAN -- Marnie F. Volden, 87, Minnewaukan, died Sept. 21, 1998, in Sabin, Minn. Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Minnewaukan. Burial will be in Minnewaukan Cemetery.

She is survived by her three sons, Roger Peterson, Baltimore, Curtis, Copperas Cove, Texas, and Larry Peterson, Eugene, Ore.; three daughters, Sharon Moylan, Baltimore, Marlys May, Valley City, and Shirley Wettstein, Sabin; one brother, Albert Deede and one sister, Edna Carter, both of Woodworth. Louie Sevela
Louie Sevela, 78, Seattle, formerly of Dickinson, died March 17, 1998, in Seattle. Memorial services will be noon MDT Saturday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson. Inurnment will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, New Hradec.

He is survived by two sons, Rick, Seattle, and Gene, Kent, Wash.; one daughter, Rox Anne Sevela, Seattle; one sister, Rose Schropp, Wenatchee, Wash.; and two brothers, Alfred, Dickinson, and Charles, Elmer CIty, Wash. (Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson)

Thomas Heisler
RUGBY -- Thomas S. Heisler, 78, Rugby, formerly of Esmond, died Sept. 22, 1998, in a Rugby hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Esmond. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Inez; two brothers, Frank, Devils Lake, and Norman, Minnewaukan; and two sisters, Maryann Schneider, Bismarck, and Rose Ann Heisler, Wahpeton. (Nelson Funeral Home, Esmond)

Richard Cryderman
LISBON -- Richard W. Cryderman, 69, Lisbon, died Sept. 21, 1998, in a Lisbon nursing home. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon.

He is survived by one daughter, Wanda Carter, San Francisco, Calif.; and five brothers, Walter, Seattle, William, Warren and Wes, all of Portland, Ore., and Wade, Petal, Miss. (Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon)

Martha Obenauer
MINOT -- Martha Obenauer, 75, Minot, died Sept. 23, 1998, in a Minot nursing home. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Further arrangements are pending.

Arne Boyum
Arne S. Boyum, 79, died March 23, 1998, in Mesa, Ariz. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Carrington Cemetery. (Evans Funeral Home, Carrington)

Helen Mastel
Helen Mastel, 91, Strasburg, formerly of Linton, died Feb. 25, 1998, at the Linton Hospital. Services will be 10-30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton with the Revs. Jeffrey Zwack and Tom Welk officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today with a rosary at 7:30 this evening at the funeral home. Saturday visitation will be one hour before services at the church.

Helen was born Feb. 5, 1907, on a farm near Hague. She was the daughter of John and Anna (Hager) Welk. She attended rural school. On Oct. 23, 1928, she was married to Valentine Hager at Strasburg.

They moved to Trail City, S.D., where they farmed until 1929 when they returned to a farm near Linton. In 1962 they moved into Linton. Valentine died July 17, 1993.

Helen entered the Strasburg Nursing home in September 1994.

Helen was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church of Linton, Christian Mothers and the Linton Senior Citizens. Helen liked to crochet.

Grateful to have shared her life are her five sons and daughters-in-law: Aloys and Angela Mastel, Ellendale, Willie and Virginia Mastel, Dickinson, Leo and Rita Mastel, Zeeland, Gene and Marlene Mastel, Mandan, Duane and Carlene Mastel, Fargo; two daughters and one son-in-law, Delores (Hulm) Kramer, Strasburg, and Alvina and William Voller, Mobridge, S.D.; 28 grandchildren; and 48 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren. (Myers Funeral Home, Linton)

Ralph Hickle
CENTER -- Ralph Hickle, 94, Center, died Feb. 24, 1998, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Center, with the Rev. G.G. Neuberger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will continue after noon today at the church.

Ralph was born Feb. 18, 1904, on the family farm near Sanger, the son of Sherman Grant Hickle and Nellie (Lamb) Hickle. He was raised in the area and attended rural Oliver County School. He also attended high school in Dickinson.

Ralph married Doris G. Christensen, Jan. 19, 1946. He lived and farmed on the same farm homesteaded by his father in 1903 until he became a resident of Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck on April 1, 1993.

He was an avid antique collector and enjoyed traveling and serving his community. He was a past member of the Missouri Slope Wool Growers, the American Sheep Producers and the Oliver County Historical Society.

He also was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and served as state representative for District 33 for 16 years. He was the Oliver County Soil Conservation Supervisor for 43 years, a charter member of the Oliver County Farm Bureau, a member of the North Dakota Stockmen's Association, the Central Gem and Mineral Society and the Sons of Norway.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney and Carol, Center, and Robert and Ellen, San Jose, Calif.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Lyle Light, Riddle, Ore., Arlene and James Yantzer, Center, Crystal and Dean Hatzenbihler, Salem, Ore., and Carmen (Hickle) and Randy Oswald, Bismarck; 15 grandchildren, Kara, Bryce and Kelsey Yantzer, Darren and Dawnel Light, Joel, Jodie and Janel Hatzenbihler, Angela, Landon, Jordan and Jarett Dinius, Parker Oswald, and Johanna and Elliot Hickle; one great-grandchild, Keyonna Yantzer; two sisters, Ruth Etherington, Rapid City, S.D., and Pearl Albers, Hannover; two brothers, William, Center, and Chester, Wilton.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Edelbrock; and one brother, Harold.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the donor's choice.

Pearl Flowers
Pearl L. Flowers, 86, Bismarck, died Feb. 25, 1998, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Richard Hagestuen officiating. Graveside services will be held at noon Saturday at Center Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home and will continue until service time at the funeral home on Saturday.

Pearl was born Sept. 23, 1911, in Oliver, the daughter of Gilbert and Julia (Hove) Gullickson. She was raised and educated in Oliver County. On April 11, 1936, she married Paul Flowers in Center.

They farmed in the Senger area until 1960, when they moved to the town of Center. She had been a resident of the Baptist Nursing Home since May of 1989.

Her family was an important part of her life.

She is lovingly survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Wayne Heinz, and Carol and ElRoy Haadem, all of Bismarck; one daughter-in-law, Isabel Flowers, Hanna, Wyo.; 12 grandchildren, Howell and Randy Flowers, Patty Zinke, Deb Wagner, Laurie Johnston, Jay Heinz, Jennifer Blasl, Jon and Jessica Heinz, Throy, Jerad, and Kristen Haadem; 11 great-grandchilren; one brother, Elmer, Center; and two sisters, Myrtle Klingenstein, New Salem, and Clara Klingestein, Dayton, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents; one son, Doug; and four brothers. (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)

Emma Schlenker
JAMESTOWN -- Emma L. Schlenker, 88, Jamestown, died Feb. 24, 1998, in a Jamestown nursing home. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Jamestown Evangelical Church. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.

She is survived by two daughters, Delores Mueller, Henderson, Nev., and JoAnn Froelich, Marietta, Ga.; two sons, Cliff, Scandia, Minn., and Harold, Vacaville, Calif.; two brothers, Herbert Krause, Jamestown, and Ervin Krause, Crookston, Minn.; and two sisters, Alma Wegner, Gackle, and Susie Zimmerman, Jamestown. Herbert Weigelt Sr.
FESSENDEN -- Herbert F. Weigelt Sr., 89, Chicago, formerly of Fessenden, died Feb. 24, 1998, in a Chicago hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Nelson Funeral Home, Fessenden. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Fessenden.

He is survived by two sons, Herbert F. Weigelt Jr., Bensonville, Ill., and James, Addison, Ill.; three daughters, Iola Theilen, Chicago, Jackie Ziemba, Geneva, Ill., and LuAnn Weigelt, Brush, Colo.; three brothers, Albert, Rueben and Arthur, all of Fessenden; and one sister, Edna Watland, Auburn, Wash. John Zaback
John A. Zaback, 61, Sidney, Mont., and formerly of Bismarck, died Feb. 18, 1998, in Mesa, Ariz. Memorial services were Feb. 23 in Sidney, Mont.

Ralph Robb
Ralph Robb, 83, Bismarck, died Feb. 25, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending with Bismarck Funeral Home.

Carl Opp
Carl Opp, 91, 218 N. Mandan St., Bismarck, died Feb. 24, 1998, in Ontario, Calif. Further arrangements are pending.

Ralph Robb
Ralph W. Robb, 83, Bismarck, died Feb. 25, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10-30 a.m. Monday, at First United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Kermit Culver officiating. Burial will be held at 1-15 p.m. Monday, at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with full military rites provided by VFW Post No. 1326.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, at Bismarck Funeral Home, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Ralph W. Robb was born March 29, 1914 on the homestead near McKenzie, the son of Ole and Fannie (Haas) Robb. He was educated in Steele and graduated from Steele High School. After school, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and later worked for the State Dairy Commission. Ralph was united in marriage to Nettie Dorothy Markow on June 6, 1937, in Steele at the Presbyterian Church.

Ralph continued to work in Bismarck until he joined the U.S. Army in 1942. He was discharged in 1945 and returned to Bismarck, where he and Nettie made their home. Ralph went to work at Smith Electric. In 1953, he and his partner, Adrian J. McDonald began their own business, ABC Electric. He retired after 25 years.

In his retirement, he liked to hunt and fish, and he developed a love for the birds and squirrels he fed. He and Nettie enjoyed wintering in Texas. Ralph was a life long member of the Elks.

Ralph helped his son, Mike, with his business, King Coal Furnace Corp., for about 10 years, doing technical electric work. It was a relationship that was of great importance to both of them. He also spent time with his son, Floyd, and his family at their cabin at Lake Sakakawea. Many wonderful and precious memories were made at Red Butte Bay. Ralph will be remembered as a man who could not say "No" to anyone needing his help. Even at the cabin, he would help the neighbors with their plumbing and electrical problems.

He is survived by his wife, Nettie; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Zona, and Ralph and Sheila, all of Bismarck; six grandchildren, Susan and her husband, Nick Simpson, and Erik Robb, all of Minneapolis, Cathy Robb and Jessica Robb, both students at NDSU, Taylor Robb, Bismarck, and Lacey Robb, a student at UND, Grand Forks; one brother, Harold, Yuba City, Calif.; one sister, Grace Schuler, San Jose, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bessie Hagan; and one brother, Floyd Robb. (Bismarck Funeral Home)
